13: Tradition
"How.....How am I one of you?"
You asked not really understanding her.
Yesterday too Taehyung said something wierd that you couldn't understand aswell.
"Your arm. It has a mark."
You quickly looked her in surprise.
How does she know? Heck! You have never told about this to anyone, not even Lia or Yoongi.
"That mark is just not a simple thing, Y/n. This is the reason why you are one of us. The chosen one by God."
"Yuna but....How? I mean who said that this mark means that I am chosen one. This doesn't make any sense."
You tried to reason with her.
A mark that defines you are the chosen one by God? Is this some magic shit?
"Y/n, now you have to listen calmly with open mind because I know you won't believe a single word that I'm going to say."
She held your hand and gazed deep into your eyes making your heartbeat fast as you slowly nodded your head.
Yuna took a long breathe before she started speaking-
"Long time ago during the 19th century, there was a very noble and rich family in the whole town that was respected by every single person. That family had a loving couple and their only son who was in love with a girl from the same town. His parents with no problem agreed for the marriage and the two had a wonderful married life until she got pregnant. Everyone was very happy for the upcoming child but unfortunately at the time of birth, the baby was already dead in her womb and at the same time she also died. It was a huge shock for the family specially that man who lost his wife and child. Since the family needed a hiers to take over their buisness in future, the man married to another woman and she also got pregnant. Unfortunately the same mishap happened with them.
Then a rumor spread in the whole town that the family was cursed by the devil and was forced to leave the town because people were scared the curse might fell upon the whole town. The family's business went down and many problems started to arise when they shifted to other town. They once more tried to marry the man to another woman and this time miraculously she gave birth to three babies all healthy and fit. They noticed the similar birthmarks on the babies and that woman and realized that God himself has send this woman, the chosen one to help them and erase the family's curse.
Since then a tradition has been followed by the family to stop the effect of curse on them by looking for those people who have that similar mark on their body. They believe that hunting down the chosen one will lead a better future and prosperity. They will have chance to be the most powerful people among everyone. Even in the 20th and 21st century, this curse has been passed onto the next generations and to prevent any deaths of the family members people like us are hunted down to serve them. It's our purpose to protect the family from the effect of curse. "
Yuna stopped for a moment and eyed your figure who was stunned to even speak anything.
Curse? Tradition?
What in the name of dark shit is all this?
"So, You are saying that those who have this symbol or birthmark is the one chosen by God to remove the curse from a generation?"
You asked her as she smiled and quickly nodded, happy that you have understood her and believed what all she said.
"Tch!"
She looked at you perplexed when you clicked your tongue, chucking simultaneously not able to believe all this. The whole story that Yuna narrated to you was making you want to laugh so hard.
This is so dumb.
"Curse? Chosen one? Yuna, come back to reality. This is all rubbish. We are living in the 21st century not in olden times."
Yuna sighed while hearing you and stood up from the bed looking at you with a serious gaze.
"I knew you won't believe this. But trust me Y/n, this is true. This is the only reason why you are here."
"See, that curse and all is nothing but a false story." You said with a small smile putting your point to her.
"Then what about this? What about the symbol on your arm? We have same type of mark."
She rolled up her sleeves showing the same mark on her left wrist as yours catching you off gaurd. It was almost similar to yours but she had it on her wrist and you had it on your arm.
You shook your head while standing up on your legs and held her hand tracing your fingertips on the rough surface of the mark.
"Yuna there are billions of people on this earth. There is high possibility that some people have same type of mark on their bodies. This doesn't mean that all of them are the chosen one. Not at all. This shit is not real."
You tried to make her understand who seemed to not believe you just like how you weren't believing her.
"Tell me did these people kidnapped you too?" You patiently asked her guessing that the same thing has happened to her like you.
And yes. Your guess was correct.
She nodded her head in hesitancy.
"Yuna whoever has told you about this stupid story is clearly lying to you and manipulating you. Trust me, we both can escape together from here-"
Yuna suddenly yanked her hand from your grip and stepped back leaving you confused as she glared at you.
"I won't leave my house and my family!"
You looked at her in disbelief when she yelled at you with tears in her eyes.
"What family are you talking about? This ain't your family! You have been brainwashed by these people!"
You grabbed her arm and shook her to bring back her senses. This girl has gone insane.
"No! Mother never lies! I have been chosen by the God to protect my family. I won't let my husband die!"
Your eyes widened after hearing her as she pushed your hand off her arm before storming towards the door. But, she stopped and gave you a stern glance before speaking.
"Believe it or not you were destined to be here. To be among us.
To serve and protect this family.
This nineth generation."
With that she walked out of the room leaving you baffled at her sudden outburst. You huffed out and slumped back on the bed wondering how strongly she has been manipulated to the point she thinks all these stuff is real and has married too?
****
"Mother."
Yuna entered inside a large bedroom, bowing at the woman who was leaning her back on the blue-green velvet couch and stopped talking to the three figures who turned around to look at her intently.
"She doesn't believe, Mother."
Yuna muttered while lowering her eyes and stood beside her husband who was among the three figures.
The woman sighed in disappointment and looked at the man on her left when he scoffed a little.
"I already told you Mom. She ain't going to be an easy one to deal with."
The woman nodded her head agreeing with her son. He already told her about you and all the things you did to escape from them. She thought you'll be cooperative with them and serve your purpose as the chosen one in the family.
"What more she said?"
Yuna's body stiffed when Mother looked at her with a raised eyebrow. She didn't wanted to tell them about you trying to convince her to escape. This will bring you bad in Mother's eyes.
"Kim Yuna."
She flinched when Mother called out her name, glaring her with cold piercing eyes.
"S-she didn't said anyt-"
"You lie. You get punished."
Mother reminded her one of the rules of the house making her sweat profusely as she slowly eyed her husband standing silently beside her, not giving her a single glance.
"Fine. Taehyung, take your wife-"
"No! She-she was trying to convince me for escaping from here and said that I am being manipulated."
Yuna quickly spilled out everything in fear when Taehyung was about to grab her arm. He slowly retrieved his hand back and looked at Mother who stood up from the couch and walked towards Yuna.
"And what did you said? Did you agreed with her?" She leaned near Yuna who quickly shook her head and smiled widely.
"No, Mother! Off course not! You never lie to us and always think about the family's future. I told her the same thing."
Hearing Yuna's answer, Mother smirked in satisfaction and patted Yuna's shoulder making her shock as her heart fluttered when Mother flashed her a proud smile.
"That's my daughter. You did the right thing dear. It's just that Y/n is still new to this and it will take some time for her to adjust here. So, whatever she says don't believe her."
Yuna cheerfully nodded her head after hearing Mother's sweet voice after so long.
"Now you go and prepare dinner for us."
She bowed at the Mother and passed a small smile to Taehyubg before walking out of the room leaving them alone.
"Jimin."
Mother called out his son's name who focused his attention on her waiting for her to speak.
"Do anything you want but make her ready for the ritual. We can't delay more than we already are." She sternly commanded.
"Yes Mom but how? She didn't listened to Yuna and instead tried to manipulate her, then how would she listen to us?"
Jimin rubbed his forehead in distress.
"Mother, I can try."
Everyone looked at Taehyung when he stepped forward towards the Mother who looked at him confused but instantly shook her head.
"No. Taehyung you can't. No other men should be near her except Jungkook till the ritual happen."
Before Taehyung could say anything, Mother looked to other male who was silent all the time.
"Jungkook, you go."
"Mother. I'm afraid she won't listen to him. She has seen Jungkook killing her friend and Jimin doing the sacrifice ritual. She won't trust them."
Taehyung put his thoughts in front of the Mother.
"Actually, Taehyung is right."
Jimin spoke agreeing with him and looked at Jungkook who raised an eyebrow at him.
"Jungkook won't be able to make her understand nor me. She has not seen Taehyung doing things in front of her. She will somewhat listen to him."
"Jimin, Taehyung can't. He is already a married man and can't go near her till the ritual. "
Mother strictly said.
"I know mom but this is the only way I can see."
The woman sighed and glanced at Taehyung who stood straight with his eyes down.
"Fine. Taehyung you go."
She ordered after contemplating for a long one minute in her head. They need you to get along with your family as soon as possible.
"Mother."
He bowed at the woman who hummed, giving him the permission to leave the room. Jimin patted his back hoping that he would be able to do his work on time.
Taehyung then walked out of the room and took a long breath as he made his way towards your room.
****
You closed your one eye and kneeled down to focus back on the door handle, inserting the safety pin into the keyway.
You wanted to get out of the room after Yuna went out but found it locked. She locked you inside.
Turning around the safety pin on other side, you were focusing so deeply to unlock the door that you didn't heard the approaching footsteps.
Your eyes widened when the door suddenly unlocked on its own and before you could move back, it was already wide opened as you froze on your place.
Taehyung blinked his eyes in confusion at your figure kneeling in front of him.
He cleared his throat as you quickly stood up and took large steps away from him wandering your eyes everywhere but him.
The confused male closed the door behind him and noticed a safety pin stuck in the keyhole making him realize what she was doing.
Removing the safety pin from the keyhole, he walked towards the dressing table and kept it back inside a small box from where you found the pin to open the door.
"You thought that safety pin would open the door."
You glanced at him who chuckled while looking at you, finding it funny at your small attempt to leave the room.
You won't deny the fact you were embarrassed as hell but didn't showed it on your face rather you focused on calming your heart that was going crazy after hearing his deep voice.
"I'll do anything just to escape from here."
You muttered avoiding his face.
Taehyung smiled after hearing you and leaned back on the dressing table.
"Even if that cause you to bleed?"
You looked at him puzzled but he raised his chin, pointing it towards your hand and that's when you noticed your bleeding forefinger which got pricked by the pin while inserting it in the keyhole.
You sighed and was about to wipe the blood on your jeans when your hand was suddenly grabbed by Taehyung.
You held your breath when his face leaned close to look at your finger.
He gently wiped the blood with a small cotton ball that he found in the first aid box inside the dressing table.
"You don't have to make efforts to get out of the room because you won't be locked anymore."
He stared and looked you straight in the eyes making you slowly melt in them. There was something about Taehyung's hazel eyes that captivated you against your will. It was deep and mysterious just like any other sea that was pulling you into them.
~Grhh.
You broke the eye contact with him and quickly stepped back when your stomach growled loudly in hunger.
You were so damn hungry.
"I wonder for how many days you haven't eaten anything? But don't worry, dinner is being made right now."
Taehyung said while walking towards the corner of the room where a small dustbin was present and threw the cotton inside it.
"I am not hungry."
You didn't wanted to eat anything from here. You still can't trust them, who knows when they will pois-
"We won't poison you, Y/n. There is no reason to do so."
Your looked at him in surprise as he sat on your bed and smiled at you already knowing what was going in your mind. Maybe you were thinking too loudly.
"Then why you have held me here?"
You asked him bluntly making him sigh. He knew this question was going to be thrown at him by you.
"Because you are also the chosen one for our generation."
You scoffed at his reply.
"You are still trying to make me believe this shit. First Yuna and now you too."
You looked at him in irritation.
"I am not forcing you to believe this, just stating the truth." He shrugged his shoulders making you roll your eyes unknowingly.
"Truth, my foot."
You mumbled.
"Just give a think about it Y/n. Neither of us knew each other. We lived far away from each other but somehow you are here in an impossible way that you never imagined."
"Out of all the girls we found in these seven months, why you were the only girl who had the mark?"
"Also, this can't be a coincidence that you were in the same place and at the same time when we were looking for the chosen one."
"Isn't this weird to you?"
Taehyung was now standing in front of you.
You were looking down at the floor all this time, analyzing and deeply thinking about every word that he said.
Seeing you silent, he smiled and held both of your shoulders.
"Maybe you were destined to be here. To protect our generation from the curse."
You lifted your head and gazed his face where a soft smile was plastered as you nodded your head.
"Yeah."
You whispered making Taehyung smile more brightly. You were believing him.
"By the way, nice try."
His smile fell down when you smirked at him and pushed his hand from your shoulder, taking many steps away from his figure.
"I am not dumb like that other girl you have brainwashed. I wonder what things you have done to her to the point she has married someone in this family. Married a murderer."
You glared at his way who sighed out loudly while shaking his head.
"I am not brainwashing you Y/n. I know that you are finding it hard to believe but again I am not forcing you for anything.....Just don't do anything stupid that can lead you in trouble."
He walked past by you towards the door and held the handle to open it.
"I will send the dinner to your room."
Without looking at you, he exited the room leaving you standing alone in the middle of your room with a messed up brain.
****
"Did it worked?"
Jimin asked Taehyung who stepped down the last stair but didn't replied and continued walking out of the living room towards the kitchen.
"She didn't."
Jimin guessed by the silence of the gloomy man and huffed out in distress.
You, not getting ready to believe this was a big hella problem for him.
His patience was losing by each hour. He don't have much time left. You have to accept your purpose as soon as possible and serve the family to protect this generation.
"Yuna."
He stopped the lady who was about to go upstairs with a tray of dinner.
"Where are you going?"
He asked while getting off from the couch and made his way towards her.
"Taehyung told me to bring Y/n's dinner in her room only." She replied with a small smile.
"I'll take it from here."
Jimin suddenly declared and took the tray from Yuna's hand who was going to say something, but he was already on his way to your room.
He opened the door with one hand balancing the tray on other and quickly spotted the still like statue figure on the bed lost in your own thoughts.
You heard the door getting closed and finally noticed Jimin who kept the tray on the table in front of a small couch across your bed.
"Eat it."
"I don't want to."
You quickly retorted.
He groaned at your stubborn ass and grabbed your arm before dragging you towards the couch and pushed you down.
You were about to stand again but instantly stopped moving after he pointed a knife on your face reminding you of that horrific night.
"I bet you don't want me to slit your throat too."
He smirked thinking that you would be scared already knowing what he is capable off.
"You wouldn't dare."
But you looked straight into his eyes fearlessly, taking him aback which only angered him more.
"And what makes you think so?"
He asked pressing the knife on your throat throwing balls of fire at your way but you didn't flinched even a bit and smirked at him.
"Because I am the chosen one who'll protect your generation from the curse."
He abruptly moved back from you, retrieving his knife back while angrily gazing at you making you chuckle lowly.
"If you will kill me, again it will take you seven or maybe more than seven months to find another chosen one."
He clenched his jaw and scoffed at you before storming out of your room. As soon as he closed the door, the facade of anger on his face quickly fell and a wide smirk appeared on his lips.
"She said it."
