I burst out of the water. I gasp in the air. That was weirdly amazing. I get up but fall immediately. I look at my hands. I jump when I see black scales on them. I can't feel my legs. I turn to see what was going on. I jump and almost scream. No legs! I had a serpent's tail! What am I? Medusa? It was a mixture of red and purple. It's long. I run my hand over it. Smooth yet scaley. I stood up as much as I could.

I move toward the water. My face had scales. My eyelids were covered in scales. I rub them. Is this the power? Am I a full demon now? Am I a monster now? How do I know if I'm powerful? I move my hands upward. A red snake shoots out and I jump. It's made of smoke. I touch it. It moves around as I do. It fades quickly. 

I can't believe this is happening to me. I can't believe what happened to me. I guess this is the power I have. I do feel more powerful. But I cannot face anyone else. I cannot show my new hideous form to Astrid or the others. I shiver to think what they would say to me. I look up at the sky. I see the sun rising. If it rises, they will look for me. It's only a matter of time before they find me here. I needed a way out. From my back shot out red wings. They look like fans almost. I let out a breath and shot into the sky.
