Red Riding Hood Goes Bowling For a Surprise: Chapter 6

This chapter is dedicated to Angelic-girl for making my cover.....which is amazing...might I add......Way to go Girl!!!!! I also put it to the side so it might be bigger......oh and technology hates me right now..........just thought I'd mention that.........

Alpha! Hell no! I resumed my struggles against Conner’s arms still restraining me. I do not want to be in the same house let alone room with the asshole. I squeezed my eyes shut, not wanting to see the jerk or the two traitors holding me captive, as footsteps echoed into the kitchen.

“Come on Vanessa please let me explain.” The voice turned my blood to ice and made me freeze in my spot. I still didn’t look at him, afraid my eyes would turn to dust on contact with any part of him, but especially those evil green eyes.

“Come on Vanessa can you look at me? My mother always said to look in a girl’s eyes when you’re apologizing.” I kept shaking my head refusing to look at anything, favoring the darkness. I felt the familiar tingles shoot up and down my arm from the strong hands touching my shoulder.

“Get your hands off of me.” I said, resuming my attempts to get free. I managed to kick Conner in the shin, but that didn’t get me anywhere. Caleb’s arm still hasn’t left my shoulder.

“Calm down Vane.” Tim said from my left. They don’t get it. I have to do this. I know I can’t get Caleb, but I can get Conner. I position my leg and get ready to fire. Conner catches on to late and my kick hits my target perfectly. I feel a wince of pain and a wave of guilt all in one as Conner fell to the ground clutching his family jewels.

“Vanessa please calm down and let the man explain. Think about it you just hurt someone who considers you a sister over friend and Luna.” Tim said. I heard a ruffle of clothing and a muttered ‘you okay dude’ afterwords. I guess Tim was being his brotherly self and checking on Conner. I really do feel bad for doing that but I had too.

The tingles had gone since I hit Conner, but now they returned to the top of my shoulder. I rolled my eyes under my lids and said. “Back off Caleb. Or the next time I leave your sight I’ll take your family jewels with me.”

“Damn. Caleb you sure got you hands full with this one. She’s going to be one hell of a Luna.” Conner had the balls to say that around me? Didn’t he already learn his lesson? It’s why he’s on the ground.

“I refuse to be his Luna right now. He already rejected me anyway by kissing that whore.” I spat at Conner.

“We’ll be back boys.”

“Of course Alpha.” I felt Caleb tighten his hold on my shoulder while reaching down. I caught on to his movements a moment to late, I was already being held bridal style by Caleb. The tingles burned my skin where Caleb and I connected.

“Later boys.” Caleb turned on the spot with me trying to get my way out of his arms. I eventually just gave up and let him carry me wherever he wanted to take me. We were running through the woods for a good while before he set me down in a clearing. I started to walk away, but he stepped in front of me.

“Take me back Caleb.”

“I will as soon as you listen to me.” I raised my eyebrow, but I stayed quiet and let him talk. “Thank you. I admit I was in the wrong by letting the kiss continue, but I didn’t initiate the kiss. I was going to sit there and surprise you when you walked out of the movie. Camila came and started talking to me and before I knew it she kissed me. When you blew up at me I tried to go after you, but I knew it was hopeless. I rounded on her and asked her why she did that because everyone in the pack knows you’re my mate. She said that a pathetic human doesn’t deserve to be the Luna of a great pack such as ours and that she was determined to make me see that she was my better match.”

“She’s probably right, a player and a whore what better match could there be?”

“Can you just shut up Vanessa?” I opened my mouth to retaliate, but he put a hand over my mouth. “I told her she is not allowed anywhere near me or you unless 100% necessary. I also told her that you are my mate and I will only accept you as my Luna. I told everyone to keep an eye out for you and try and bring you to me if they could so I could explain.”

He removed his hand from my mouth and stood there like a kid waiting to be punished by his mom. “I’m not sure how much I believe, but I can tell that you are telling the truth about not starting it.”

“So you forgive me Vanessa?”

“Yes Caleb, but do anything close to that again and I will hurt you, and I won’t forgive you.” He grinned his old mischievous smile before pulling me close and kissing me. I put my arms around his neck and deepened the kiss. He pulled away smirking at me and said. “Of course not, Vanessa.”

His smirk faltered and his eyes glazed over. I don’t know how I know, but I think he’s talking to the pack. His eyes come back into focus and settle on mine. “Sam is shifting for the first time.” He said with, what else, a smirk.

“Oh my god! Does it hurt? We have to go back, I have to be there for her!”

“Hold on Vanessa, yes we’re going back, yes it hurts like hell, but you can’t be there.”

“Why not?” I said giving him the evil eye again. He gulped signifying that my look gave the desired affect.

“Vanessa, when you first shift, your wolf wants meat. Whether it’s human or deer it doesn’t care. It is hungry and it will eat the closest source that isn’t a werewolf. If you are there when Sam shifts then she will try and eat you.”

I scoffed at the way he put it. He was talking to me like a toddler. I turned away from him and walked a couple feet. I felt a fire spring up against my back as Caleb wrapped me in a hug from behind. “Vanessa Don’t be like this. It drives my wolf crazy when you walk away from me.” He started kissing me from the base of my ear to the edge of my shoulder.

“Caleb, stop. I know what you’re trying to do. I have read my fair share of books on the subject.” He continued his path and sucked a little at the base of my ear. I guess that is my soft spot because it made my knees weak and a small moan escape my lips before I could stop it.

“It doesn’t seem like you want me to stop, Vanessa.” He sucked at the base of my ear for a couple of seconds before moving down to where my neck and shoulder connected. He nipped my skin a little, but not enough to break the skin.

“Caleb, no. I don’t want a permanent hickey on-” He cut off the rest of my sentence by breaking the skin, marking me. It felt painful at first, but soon it felt like pure bliss. I didn’t want him to stop once he had started. Another moan escaped before I could stop it and I felt him smile against my shoulder. He licked at my wound and moved to whisper in my ear, his lips barely brushing the tips, causing them to tickle.

“You’re mine Vanessa. I want you to remember that.”

I turned around to face him. Ha, payback is a bitch Caleb, just remember that. I put my lips close enough for a kiss before pushing him to the ground. I ran away into the woods laughing, letting him know I was having my fun. I heard a small growl and ran faster.

I heard his footsteps before I saw him. When I peeked over my shoulder he was in the air about to pounce. I ducked and he soared over my head landing in front of me. I stared into the metallic silver disks of his eyes and smiled before realizing that he was right in front of me. I collided with the ground before I could stop. Caleb was doing some sort of growl that you could clearly see was a laugh when looking at him.

‘I see you can’t help falling for me, Vanessa.’ My eyes bugged as a voice rang through my head.

‘Oh god. I’m going insane.’ Was my first thought on this new development.

‘You are not insane, you just didn’t know we can now communicate this way since I marked you.’

‘I know how marking works, voice. I’ve read enough werewolf books to know. Communicating sounds like the person is talking normally, but only you can hear it.’

‘I am talking, and only you can hear it. Say something in your head for me to do and I will do it.’

‘Stand on your hind legs Caleb.’ He did it. “I hate you.” He started laughing again. He layed down and stared at me for a moment.

‘Get on.’ I did what he asked, which was no easy feat, and we were off running through the woods. I gripped onto his fur as tightly as I could, hoping I wasn’t hurting him. ‘You’re not hurting me Vanessa. In fact you need to grip on tighter for me to be able to run faster.’

‘Oh God.’ I gripped on even tighter and I felt my nails piercing the skin of my palm. Oh great, I’m probably getting blood on my hands and his fur. I felt the rumble of his laugh vibrate through his chest and started mentally kicking myself for thinking that with our mind link going.

‘Vanessa, you might want to hold on as tight as you can. We are going to jump off a small cliff in a moment here.’

‘Okay?’

‘I don’t want you falling off mid jump so please do not look down or let go in any way.’

‘Okay Caleb. I trust you.’ I used my legs to hold on tighter. I could feel Caleb getting ready to jump so I closed my eyes and leaned into his back. We jumped off and my eyes automatically shot open. Looking down I saw that we were making a fifty foot drop at least. Small cliff my ass, Caleb!

‘We’re here, Vanessa.’

‘Yeah. Did you really have to jump off the cliff? I mean the cliff behind their house is at least sixty feet straight up!’

‘Yeah I know. That’s why I told you to close your eyes. That way you wouldn’t freak out. Plus it would have taken an extra fifteen minutes to get here avoiding all of the sixty foot cliffs.’ Somehow he managed to buck his hind legs up to send me into the air, screaming might I add, and landing in his now human arms.

“I hate you right now, Caleb.”

“I know. But now I have to go see Sam." He ran to the house with me in his arms still. He dropped me off at the front and ran into the house. Conner came running out shortly after, keeping me from going inside.

“Let me go! I need to be there for Sam!”

“No you need to get away from Sam, its not a place for a human.”

“I am your Luna! Let me go!”

“I am sorry, but the Alpha’s orders are above yours and I have direct instructions to get you as far away as possible.” He kept me at bay but when I refused to give up he put me in a fireman’s lift.

I just let it go, realizing there was no hope in struggling against a fully grown male werewolf under the orders of my stupid Alpha mate, and stewed over how many different things I could do to him for not letting me there for my best friend.

I felt pressure against my mind and let my mental walls down, preparing to creep him out as part of my pay back. ‘Who goes there?’ I said in the creepiest old guy voice I could think of.

‘Sorry sir. I thought this was my Girlfriend’s mind.’

‘No Caleb its me.’ I said in my own voice this time, stopping him from retreating.

‘Nice voice. If you have your mental walls up use different voices every time to disguise yourself. It will help.’

‘Okay? I guess. So what do you want?’ I said rather angrily to show him I was not happy that he wouldn’t let me be there for Sam.

‘Well Sam’s in her final stage. She’s about to shift for the first time.’

‘Will she be in pain?’ I quickly spoke into his mind, no doubt showing my over protective side.

‘No the pain’s gone. She’s just extremely warm. Like if someone were to put a stove on to warm.’ He sounded unsure so I didn’t fully believe him. His was always overly cocky and arrogant, Never unsure.

‘Geez. So I can come back?’

‘No.’

‘Why?’ I gave him the image of me doing my best puupy pout and he laughed.

‘Because she will want the closest source of fresh meat to satisfy her wolf. If you are there she will choose you. We have to feed her first and then you can come.’

Thoughts to gross to think about crossed my mind. ‘Okay. I don’t want any mental pictures.’

‘You got it. Where are you guys?’ I looked around and noticed we were in Conner’s beloved ford pickup truck. From the pizzeria on the side of the street, that have no waitresses that know my order because I go there at least twice a week of course, I deduced that we were on the opposite side of town.

‘Come to think of it. I didn’t even realize until now that we are in a car. It looks like we’re on the opposite side of town.’ Another booming laugh entered my mind right before Caleb spoke.

‘That doesn’t surprise me. You’ve never been to observant. Tell Conner he has to keep you busy for just a little while longer.’

‘Okay, I will. Bye!’

‘Bye Babe.’ How dare he!

‘I’m no ones babe!’ I yelled at his mind, but he already had his mental walls up. I attacked the wall again and thought of it breaking. I felt the wall and found a crack. I snaked in and found that Caleb hadn’t even noticed that I made it in. This was going to be good!

‘I am not you’re babe!’ I screamed as loud as possible and saw him jump out of his skin. I sent him a picture of me smirking beyond belief and then backed into my own mental walls.

“What happened? You’re smirking like an idiot.”

“Oh nothing. I am sure your Alpha might tell you later to let you know just how good of a student I am.”

“Okay whatever. We’re here though.” I looked out the window to see my favorite place in the world. I had practically grown up here. The Bowling Alley. I gave a delighted squeal and jumped out of the car running inside. Conner had barely gotten out of the car by the time I reached the doors.

I got inside and immediately saw one of the two people who have been second parents to me. I gave Mark a giant hug from behind to surprise him, he had no clue who I was until he turned around.

“Hey pipsqueak! What’s new with you?”

“Nothing much. Where’s Diana?”

“Ah she’s out there bowling. Shes going for strikes across the board tonight.”

“Ah good luck to her. Set me and my friend up with a lane?”

“Is this friend more than a friend?” he said eying Conner.

“No. But I do have a more than a friend.”

“Oh? What’s his name?”

“You’re not going to believe this. It’s Caleb McDonald.”

“The young man who has been tormenting you nonstop? I think I’m going to have to have a few words with him. Show him who’s in charge here.”

“Good luck. He’s used to leading his, uh, team.”

“Hmm. Fine. But if he gives you any trouble let me know and I will deal with him once and for all.”

“Thanks Uncle Mark.”

“Do you really have to call me that it makes me feel old.”

“Sorry. You ready to bowl Conner?”

“Yeah just give me a second. Caleb is calling me.” I instantly knew what he meant, but we obviously couldn’t let Mark know.

“I have a lane next to Diana’s open. I’ll get that ready for you. What’s his shoe size? He said placing my bowling shoes on the counter. That’s right I have my own. I basically live here so they keep my ball and shoes behind the counter in a box for me. I got them for my tenth birthday from Mark, Diana and my parents.

“I would say he’s a size ten, Mark. Don’t you think?”

“I would agree.” I spent a summer working for them and we made it our mission to be able to tell someones shoe size as soon as they walked in. By the end we knew who had their own shoes and who wore what size. We got more tis by having the shoes ready for them by doing that.

Conner got out of what seemed to be a stressful conversation and walked over to me. Mark went to go prepare the lane for us while we talked.

“What are you Vanessa?”

“What do you mean Conner? It’s me Vanessa!” His face was filled with concern and something I have never seen before. He looked around to see if anyone was close, which made me instinctively do the same.

“I didn’t say who are you, Vanessa. I said what are you?”
