To Hell and Back

Due to the fun I was having, the amount of time that had passed and my surroundings never came to mind. However, that shorty changed.

I was still holding Marinette, but we were no longer kissing. Our foreheads were rested against each other as we caught our breath. I couldn't help but smile.

"I'm really glad you decided to drop by," Marinette whispered.

"So am I. Originally I came by to check on my girlfriend and spend sometime with her. But I don't mind how the night ended up," I replied pulling my head back so I could see her. My smile grew as I heard her adorable giggle.

"What's so funny?"

"I like how that sounds. Hearing you call me your girlfriend makes me happier than you know."

"It makes me happy to say."

We shared a small kiss once more. I don't think I've ever felt as loved as I did in the moment. The kiss became deeper, and we continued what we were doing before. I became lost in the kiss and the feeling of our bodies against one another.

"Eek!" Marinette squeaked out before hiding in my shoulder.

"Pixie, you ok? Are you uncomfortable? We can stop." I asked concerned.

My confusion ended the moment I heard someone clearing their throat behind me. God damnit Bruce! Again!

I held Marinette closer because she was clearly embarrassed that a man dressed as a bat landed on the rooftop when she was making out with a guy. Well, it wasn't any man. It was the man funding her trip to Gotham and happened to have adopted me when I was a kid.

"Hey B. What's up?" I asked without turning around.

The air around us felt very awkward, and I couldn't wait for the moment to end.

"I um came to talk to Ms. Dupain-Cheng. Nightwing informed me that she was on the roof. He didn't mention you were here as well."

"I decided to drop by to check on her after the whole incident that happened at Wayne Enterprise this afternoon."

I put Marinette down still holding her close. "This is so embarrassing," I heard her say even though it was mostly muffled.

"I'm sorry Hood. I totally didn't mean for Batman to drop by when you were busy," I heard Nightwing say over the coms as he tried not to laugh.

"I'm gonna kill you next time I see you," I replied. My response only caused him to break out laughing.

"I think Nightwing left it out on purpose."

~Marinette's POV~

Before Jason could say anymore, I decided to change the subject. I removed my head from his shoulder and poked it out to see Batman standing there awkwardly. I couldn't help but laugh.

Jason looked down at me surprised. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to laugh, but you just look so awkward Batman. Anyway, what did you need to talk about?" I asked stepping to the side so we could actually have a conversation.

"Commissioner Gordon wanted to speak to you this afternoon to get your statement, but you were no where to be found. I came here to bring you over to the station," he replied.

"Sorry about that. I wanted to get away from there as soon as I could. I probably was in no condition to give a statement anyhow."

I bent down to pick up Jason's domino mask that had fallen and handed it to him. He was currently fixing his shirt and hair. After Jason grabbed it, I began fixing my own hair.

"Does Gordon want me to give a statement now?"

After I had laughed, Batman had turned around letting us get situated somewhat privately.

"The sooner the better. It would provide a more accurate statement."

I walked over to get Jason's helmet while he grabbed his jacket. After seeing me shiver, Jason wrapped me in his jacket and gave me a peck on the top of my head before putting on his helmet.

"Does that mean I get to ride in the Batmobile?"

"I could take you Pixie," Jason offered before Batman could respond.

"From what I read, Red Hood isn't supposed to be seen with the Bat. Apparently, they haven't been on the best of terms I guess. Plus it's not everyday you get a chance to ride in the Batmobile."

"Civilians don't usually ride in the Batmobile," Batman said answering my previous question.

"That's lame. What if I refuse and the only way I would go with you is if I got to ride the Batmobile?" I questioned.

Beside me, Jason chuckled while Batman sighed seemingly done with this whole interaction.

"I'll let you ride, but you are not allowed to tell anyone. I would let Commissioner Gordon pick you up, but I don't think it would look good if you were to get into an officer's car."

"How did you plan on getting me to GCPD in the first place if you weren't gonna let me ride in the Batmobile?"

"Let's just go. Are you coming Red Hood?" Batman asked Jason finally turning around.

"Pixie is right. I'm not really supposed to be seen with you. It's not good for my image. Plus I have to run anyway. I am needed elsewhere."

"Be careful," I called out as Jason started walking away.

"Like I said this morning, I'm always careful. I'll see you tomorrow Pixie." With that he grappled away.

"So to the Batmobile?" I asked walking towards the edge of the building looking for the vehicle.

~Small time skip to them in the Batmobile~

"So you know Red Hood's identity?"

"Nah, I was totally just making out with a random guy on the rooftop of the hotel I'm staying at," I said. Ask a stupid question get a stupid response.

"You're right. That was a stupid question. How did you find out?"

"It wasn't exactly hard. Jason has one of the Batmobile's tires on a shelf along with an old photo of the two of you."

"Does that mean you know everyone else's identity?"

"If you're asking if Jason told me, then no. My boyfriend knows how to keep a secret. As for your identities, I have my theories. If they were ever confirmed true, you should know I wouldn't tell anyone."

"Boyfriend?"

"Yeah."

"You know he is a crime lord who runs most of Gotham's drug trade?"

"Ok and? Why are you so interested in my dating life anyway? That's kinda weird."

"Alright, I can take a hint. I'll drop it. Commissioner Gordon is going to take a quick statement. He doesn't want to keep you too long due to your schedule."

"How do you two know my schedule?"

"We're here," Batman announced avoiding my question.

I got out of the Batmobile and saw we were parked in a nearby alley.

"So we going in or did you just park here for dramatic effect?"

"We are meeting him on the roof."

"Strange but ok. Does that mean we're grappling up there?"

"Yes so you'll have to hold on tight."

"Aww. I wanted to use my own grappling hook," I said as I walked to Batman's side.

He picked me up and the next thing I knew we were on the rooftop in the shadows.

"I feel like you live for these dramatic entrances."

I hopped out of his grip and walked towards the Batsignal where Gordon was waiting.

"Hey Commissioner," I said causing him to jump slightly. "You know after working with the Bat for so long, I thought you'd be used to randomly voices coming from the shadows."

"You'd think, but he always manages to sneak up on me. I assume you're Miss Dupain-Cheng."

"The one and only. The big bat who still hasn't come from the shadows over there told me you wanted to ask me some questions."

"Yes. We would like to get your statement on the events that happened this afternoon with Scarecrow. Some of your classmates gave theirs already."

"Ask away."

"Where were you when Scarecrow first arrived?"

"I was on the other side of the room filling up my water gun. My back was turned away from them, so I didn't get to see his probably overdramatic entrance. When I did turn around, there was some debris that covered him from my view. I only saw him when I ran over wanting to make sure things were ok."

"Can you tell me what happened once you arrived on the scene?"

"I asked my best friend what was happening trying to get a clear picture on what was going on. Next thing I know, my classmate named Alya was telling my other one to contact Batman. Apparently, the other classmate Lila told everyone she knew Batman and he gave her his information to use if she was ever in trouble."

"Why would she say that?"

"My personal opinion, Lila loves attention. It doesn't make sense for her to have his information when the police department doesn't. You contact him via a light in the sky at night. Have you ever thought about finding another way to contact him? Rumor has it that Batman runs his operation underground. You can't exactly see the night sky from there."

"You a Batman fan?"

"He's alright. For me though, he doesn't make the top ten of Gotham's superheroes. No offense," I said directing to Batman who was now standing by Gordon's side.

"Let's get back to this afternoon," Batman suggested changing the subject once more.

"What happened after your classmate had told your other to contact Batman?"

"It caught Scarecrow's attention, so he walked over to them. He grabbed Lila by the hair I believe and held her in the air. I may not get along with those two but I'm not going to let some grade C villain harm them. I pulled out my water gun and started shooting him so his attention was on me. He threw Lila at the wall before heading my way. I taunted him a bit and squirted him with my water gun some more. It pissed him off, and I ended up getting his toxins injected into my blood."

"Why exactly did you have a water gun with you?"

"I was dressed up as Red Hood. Before you asked, I did it as a favor for a friend."

"Is that why you are still wearing a jacket that resembles Red Hood's?"

"Yeah. I was outside and brought it with me to keep me warm."

"I must say your friend is quite the designer. It looks just like the real one."

"Thanks. I'll pass the message along. Is that all you need to know?"

"Due to some of the statements given by your classmates, I have to ask if you had anything to do with the attack on Wayne Enterprise?"

"Excuse me."

"I cannot say by who, but it was said that you had Scarecrow attack the place where you happened to be touring so you could play hero."

"You think I would let myself be injected with a toxin that shows me some of my greatest fears for attention? Do you think I let myself see my friends' dead bodies for attention? I watched as my best friend who I trust with my life betray me! I saw the lifeless bodies of my friends because I wasn't there to protect them! The man who I opened up to after years of trust issues said he was going to leave me! I went through hell! I did that to protect my class even if half of them bully and lie about me for no reason!"

"Miss Dupain-Cheng, I never said I believed them. I just had to ask. I am so sorry that you had to go through that," Commissioner Gordon said trying to calm me down.

By now I was yelling. After hearing people lie about the attack, I snapped.

"How the hell would I even pull that off? I've been here a week spending most of that time rather working on my designs or planning this trip to the exact minute so things could run smoothly. When I get back, I have to redo everything to make up for the lost part of the day."

"I believe you got what you need, so I should get her back to the hotel. It's been a hard day for her," Batman said.

"Don't you start playing hero now. Where were you during the attack? The only one I saw was Red Hood."

"I was evacuating people from the building while taking down his goons. Red Hood happened to get there before me."

I managed to calm myself down after hearing Batman mention Jason. I took a couple deep breaths before saying, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you two. You guys are just doing your jobs, even if one of yours is kinda illegal. Is there anything else you need from me Gordon?"

"I want to know how you survived. I don't mean to alarm you, but the toxin you were injected with is much stronger than what Scarecrow has used previously. With how strong the dosage was and how small you are, it is incredible that you came out unharmed. Well, besides the mental trauma."

"I've been through hell before. What's another trip?"

I gave him a soft smile before walking towards the area Batman and I originally came. Tears threatened to fall, but I refused to cry. I'm Ladybug after all. I've watched the dead rise and be emotionally manipulated almost daily, yet I'm still standing.
