Look at that. I've been impaled
Sorry it's been awhile. I was busy with finals and then got discouraged from writing this due to certain things. I felt like my writing wasn't good enough and that you all deserved better than what I was putting out. But I'm back and ready to write about my favorite Robin.
~Marinette's POV~
Batman seemed to be in deep conversation with Gordon. Not wanting to wait any longer, I climbed part way down the fire escape to my right before jumping off landing perfectly.
I began walking towards the hotel when I got a call. It was Adrien. Although I didn't feel like talking or being around anyone at the moment, I answered. I knew they were worried sick about me.
"Hello," I said.
"Where the hell are you!?" Adrien yelled.
"Batman took me down to GCPD to give a statement on this afternoon's events."
"I swear to god. All you do is scare us Dupain-Cheng!" I heard Chloe yell.
"I'm on speaker aren't I?"
"When you randomly leave and don't pick up your phone, we're all gonna gather around to hear what you have to say for yourself," Nino said but his voice was faint.
"Wait, don't tell me you're by yourself," Adrien asked already knowing the answer.
"Batman was taking too long."
"I swear to... Do you want me to come get you?"
"Nah. I need fresh air. Well, as fresh of air you can get in Gotham."
"You mean the most crime ridden city?"
"So they have a couple of villains who get a kick out of harming others and some random muggers. We have the same in Paris."
"What do you mean by that?" I heard a voice say behind me.
"God damnit. Guys I have to go. One of Batman's pals found me."
"Don't you dare hang up," Chloe said.
"Sorry. I'll see you soon." I quickly hung up my phone and put it on silent.
"Which one is it now?" I asked turning around to see Red Robin.
"What did you mean by Paris having villains who get a kick out of harming others?"
"Every city has some crime."
"You made it sound like there were supervillains in Paris."
"If there were supervillains in Paris, wouldn't the world know?"
"The thing is the news in France, Paris especially, is altered."
"Altered? How so?" All I could do is play dumb at the moment. Luckily, acting confused and oblivious has become easier this past year.
"I can't say."
"You can't say or you don't know?"
Red Robin stayed quiet not wanting to admit defeat. My victory on the topic was short lived after the akuma alert went off on my phone. When creating the akuma alert system, we made the notification unique. The noise and vibration were unlike any others and could not be replicated.
Due to my phone being on silent, only I was made aware. I swiftly pulled it out and rolled my eyes trying to create an excuse.
"Did you grapple here or actually ride a vehicle?" I asked Red Robin putting my phone away.
"Batman needed me as soon as possible, so I drove. Why do you ask?" Red Robin responded looking me up and down as if I was a puzzle he was attempting to solve.
"My friend sent me an SOS. It's probably nothing. Most likely what she's going to wear tomorrow, but I want to get there quickly just in case I'm wrong," I lied.
"Do you always ask strangers for rides?" he asked walking towards the direction he originally came from.
"Have you never used a taxi or Uber?"
"No."
"Sorry Mr. Fancy Pants, but not everyone owns a vehicle."
Although I was behind him, I could tell he was rolling his eyes. "You comfortable with riding on the Batcycle?"
"Please say that it's an actual motorcycle and not a bike. I'd be more terrified if I had to ride on a bike with you. No offense."
Red Robin turned into an alley where the Batcycle was hidden. "Just put on the helmet so I can get you back to your hotel."
"Can I drive?"
"Hell no. Batman would kill me if he found out I let a civilian drive this thing."
"He doesn't have to know."
He hopped onto the Batcycle before responding. "Again no."
I sat behind Red Robin loosely holding onto him. "Red Hood would let me," I mumbled just loudly enough for him to hear.
Seconds later, we took off definitely going over the speed limit. For just a moment, all my troubles went away. Riding a motorcycle cycle always made me feel free.
The smile I had faded the moment Red Robin stopped in an alley next to the hotel. I hopped off the bike running to the front door while taking the helmet off. Don't plan on giving it back. It is a cool souvenir from the trip to Gotham. Batman could easily buy a new one.
I was in the elevator when Tikki came out from her hiding spot.
"Sorry you were in such an uncomfortable place. I didn't expect to be leaving the hotel, and I can't exactly leave you behind."
"I'm just glad I wasn't hiding there when you were with Jason."
My cheeks turned red as I forgot that Tikki was nearby during mine and Jason's intense moment. "Let's put a pin in that and get ready to fight."
The elevator finally came to a stop letting me out. I ran through the hallway not caring if I woke anyone up.
"Finally!" Chole yelled when I opened the door.
"Blame Red Robin for taking so long, but look at the helmet I stole from him."
"First Batman. Then Red Robin. You sure had an eventful night," Nino commented.
"You don't know the half of it," I accidentally said out loud which caused Nino to raise an eyebrow. "A story for another time. Close the curtains. Nathaniel, I'm going to need you to create an illusion now. Red Robin is probably hiding on a building close to us. My guess is he is stalking us because he's suspicious."
"What exactly did you say?" Adrien questioned.
"I lied saying that Chole was probably being overdramatic and sent an SOS. It was probably me demanding to get to the hotel as soon as I could that caused him to be suspicious. Anyway, I need Nathaniel to create an illusion of us. It has to be real enough that it can fool any gadgets the Bats may have."
"I don't know if I can keep that illusion alive while fighting in Paris," Nathaniel confessed.
"Then you'll have to stay here for now. I'll come get you if needed. We can't have anyone outside of Paris know that the miraculous exist."
Nathaniel responded with a nod and transformed. "You all get going. I'll start the illusion as you guys leave."
Luckily, our transformations don't cause bright lights anymore. The lights brought too much attention and could easily reveal identities.
"Voyage!" I said opening a portal to the building we usually use.
I stepped out to see water slowly rising. Ondine aka Syren.
"We need to get to higher ground," I yelled. I created another portal right below us taking us to the top platform of the Effie Tower.
"Snake. Dragon," Adrien said as he touched his coms. No response. "Come Snake. Do you read me?"
"You're a bit muffled due to us being in the water," Luka replied. "I also got Kagami with me."
"Can you give us a location?"
"The community pool."
I called for my lucky charm before turning to Kim who was looking over the edge. "Do you know what might have caused Odine to become akumatized?"
"She became a little jealous when she learned I was dating Alix. That might be it."
"How can you and Cat act so calm? There are hundreds of bodies floating around not moving," Nino snapped.
"If we panic, we make mistakes. Trust me. LB and I learned the hard way."
Although a great deal of time had passed since Cat and I revealed people die during the attacks to the next fight, I was able to erase the conversation. They no longer had a clue on what truly happens during the fights.
"We have to make our way to the pool to help out the others. I have a plan, but I need everyone to have a clear head in order for it to work. My lucky charm should help."
~Time skip to the end of the fight~
While Cat was destroying the object holding the akuma, Syren threw him across the damaged building. I heard a loud scream behind me.
"Oh God," I heard Alix mutter.
I whipped my head around to see Cat impaled with a metal rod from the building. Luckily it missed any organs, but he was bleeding and bleeding fast.
"Miraculous Ladybug!" I yelled throwing my lucky charm in the air. Hopefully he'll be cured. Now days it never happens but maybe tonight there will be an exception.
Cat laughed looking down at the rod that was still there. Everyone and everything around us was all fixed up.
I ran over to his side holding his hand. "We need to get you to Agent A. He has more experience than I do in the medical field and might have some ideas."
"What happened to Cat?" I heard someone behind us say.
"I don't remember that happening during the fight," another said.
"Shouldn't your lucky charm fix everything?"
"Who's Agent A?"
"Voyage," I whispered making a portal underneath them.
"Marinette! You can't do this!" I heard someone yell before the portal closed.
"LB, I don't know how long I can make it. I'm losing too much blood," Cat whispered.
"I need you to stay awake for me. I'll be able to get you to the cave." I replied tears flowing down my cheeks.
~Jason's POV~
I leaned on my motorcycle while Bruce gave me a talking to. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at some of what he said.
"Do you think this is funny Jason? You are putting not only everyone's identity at risk but also Marinette!"
"Leave Marinette out of this. You have no idea what you're talking about," I replied tired of his rant.
"You are a drug lord now. You made the choice to become one. I have tried everything I can to steer you on a different path. You have enemies that would stop at nothing to take everything you care about away from you."
"You're one to talk. You have put child after child into this life. I have died because of it. Your other kids have been seriously injured to a point we thought they might not make it."
(I know Jason isn't the only one who has died but in this fic he is the one and only)
By now, everyone was back in the cave watching one of the many fights Bruce and I have had. They were acting as if they weren't listening but were doing a terrible job.
"And why am I the only one getting lectured about this stuff? Remember the girl Duke was dating? He had a slip up and almost gave things away. Luckily, Duke was able to cover it up but it still happened."
"She didn't know, but Marinette does. There is a difference, and Duke already got a talking to."
"No where as extreme as this. We all know you play favorites. It shows when things like this happen."
Bruce continued talking, but I completely zoned out as I watched Alfred come down the stairs. It wasn't often he came to the Batcave anymore. The only time was if anyone was injured. I looked around to see everyone unharmed.
Alfred walked to the med bay and started setting things up. It looked as if he was getting ready for surgery. Bruce noticed my lack of attention and turned to see what I was looking at.
"Is everything ok Alfred?" Bruce asked.
"Your children are fine. This is for someone else," he casually replied.
Before Bruce could say anything more, a blue portal appeared in the room. Everyone besides me and Alfred got into a fight stance. Something like this could only be made by one person.
I made eye contact with Alfred who returned it with a small nod. For once, I really didn't want to be right.
A figure slowly made their way through. Marinette who was still transformed held onto and injured Cat Noir. I was about to run over to help, but when she saw me she shook her head.
"I need your help Agent A," Ladybug said walking towards Alfred.
"Of course. Everything is all set up. I do need to know what exactly happened," he calmly replied.
The conversation became quieter as the three made their way to the med bay.
"Does anyone know what just happened?" Dick questioned.
