Fittings
I had a hard time falling asleep that night. My phone didn't ring after the time in the lobby, but I still felt like I was being watched. I made sure all the curtains in the suite were drawn and all the windows locked.
All I wanted to do was meet Jason on the rooftop and explain the events of the last hour. However, if there is someone watching me, I couldn't be seen with him.
"I can't meet you on the roof tonight, but I will see you tomorrow at the fitting. Love you," I texted Jason before climbing into bed.
I heard my phone vibrate but didn't bother checking it. The last thing I need before bed is an unknown number calling me.
~Sunday~
"I'll see you tomorrow then. Love you too," Jason's text read.
"Remember you do not know I am MDC. You have to play dumb," I texted back.
"Lucky for you I am a great actor. What time do I have to be at the manor?"
I glanced at the corner of the screen to see the time only to realize I had 45 minutes to get ready. The one time I actually get sleep happens to be the day I have something big plan.
"I will be at the manor in 45."
"ADRIEN!" I yelled while getting my preplanned clothes out of the closet.
Moments later the door flung open. "What!?" I heard Adrien ask sounding like he was out of breath.
"I need your help with the wig. I made sure it was ready to be put on, but as you know I am not the best with hair," I replied but my voice was muffled as I put on my shirt.
"Blonde?"
"It's the complete opposite of my natural hair."
"But does it look natural when you are wearing it?"
"You can help with my make up and make it look more natural."
"I guess... I'm thinking about doing a bun."
"Work your magic but do it quickly. I'm running late."
"What would you do without me," Adrien said as he started hiding my real hair.
"I'd be a complete mess."
"Why didn't you just use your hair dye that you made instead of a wig?"
"I know it comes out in one wash, but with my luck it will end up staying until the end of the trip."
"What happened to the 'I'm the definition of luck'?"
"Shut up."
"Do you think they'll recognize your voice? It is one of a kind after all Bugaboo."
"It's both a blessing and a curse. However, I did find something in the Grimoire that will change it. All I need to do is eat the macaroon over there, and my beautiful voice will be something completely different."
"What could possibly go wrong with that?"
"I did everything correctly, so nothing should go wrong."
"Please tell me you are going to eat it before you leave. I need to know what it will sound like."
"Anything for my hair stylist."
"Speaking of which. Make up and hair is all done."
I got up and looked at the mirror. I could hardly tell it was me, but something was missing. There was no Red Hood. Sure, no one else is wearing anything Bat Family theme, but since I am about to spend time with them, I feel as if I have to.
"What's wrong?" Adrien asked.
"I forgot an accessory," I replied putting on an anklet that has the Red Hood logo on it. You would only be able to tell if you looked closely. "Now it's perfect. Can you tell it's me?"
"I personally think it's weird to hear your voice while looking like that, but it is one of your best disguises."
"I thought my waiter disguise looked pretty good, but I have to get going. Mr. Wayne sent Alfred who should be here very soon."
"Eat the macaroon first. Please," Adrien begged. I rolled my eyes, but quickly eat it.
"That tasted horrible. Why do none of the spells in that book taste good!"
"Oh. My. God. It matches the outfit and look perfectly, but this is hilarious."
"Laugh it up. By the time, I get back it should be gone."
"Do your favorite hair stylist a favor and say 'lucky charm'!"
"You're going to record it aren't you? You know what I don't care. Lucky charm!" I yelled doing my normal pose with it.
"You are the best person ever."
"I know, but I do have to go," I replied putting on a domino mask I made.
I quicky grabbed the luggage cart I may have borrowed from the hotel which held all my supplies and the outfits along with my purse. The moment I entered the lobby a limo pulled up. Rich people are so extra.
"Hello," I said carefully putting all my things into the limo.
"I'll make sure we have something to carry everything in," Alfred said smiling at my large load.
"That would be lovely."
With everything loaded, we took off. The ride was quite as I was in deep thought looking over the clipboard I brought with me. Everything should be there as the clipboard never lies.
"We are here, and it looks like they actually brought out a cart to bring everything in. Everyone is in the living room at the moment. I did prepare a room for the fittings close to the living room. I'll show you the way, so you can get everything set up," Alfred explained.
"Thank you for all your help. You probably get told this all the time, but you are a life saver," I replied following Alfred.
"Anytime Miss. Here we are. The door to your left leads to the living room and the one to your right is set up for everyone to change."
"I'll see you soon," I replied as I began making the room look more like a studio.
It takes about ten minutes to get everything in place and get in the right mind space as it has been quite sometime since I had last done a personal fitting. Grabbing my clipboard, I open the door to the living room were everyone is talking. I do a quick look around and find Jason trying not to laugh.
"Hello. Sorry for being a little late. I didn't take into account how long it might take to set up. With my busy schedule, it has been a quick minute since I have done a personal fitting. However, I am glad to do so. It definitely makes the entire process go smoother. I will start with the oldest and work my way down. Right this way Alfred," I quickly explained before heading back into the room.
Once the door closed, I turned around to see a surprised Alfred. "Did you really think I wasn't going to make you a suit? Afterall, Mr. Wayne said he needed new formal outfits for all of his family, and you are family."
"You're too kind. In fact, you remind me of a certain someone," Alfred replied.
I handed Alfred his suit and tie before saying, "They seem special to you. What a lucky person. Now, go try this on."
He left the room, and I shook my head thinking you can't hide anything from him.
~Jason's POV~
Once Marinette left with Alfred, a small laugh escaped. I don't know how she did it, but it looks like she fooled a family of detectives.
"What?" Dick asked while I opened the book I was previously reading.
"Nothing," I vaguely replied tuning everyone out.
The only time I was brought out of my book was whenever the door opened and I saw Marinette. We avoided eye contact as much as possible due to the fact we'd probably smile like dorks giving everything away.
"Jason," I heard her call out after almost an hour since she first opened to door.
After placing a bookmark to keep track of my page, I followed Marinette into the room. I'm not sure how it originally looked when she first set it all up, but now it was an organized mess. Once the doors closed behind me, I laughed once more.
"So I am dating a blonde now?"
"I don't know what you are talking about."
"Even if I wasn't told it was you, no disguise could keep me from recognizing my girlfriend. I only have to play dumb in front of everyone else," I replied trying not to roll my eyes at her respond to my question.
"Just like no bucket could keep me from recognizing you," Marinette said walking over. She pulled me into a long kiss which I was happy to return. "A kiss to make up for not meeting up with you last night."
"I think I need one more to fully forgive you."
This time I only got a quick peck before Marinette walked over to the full body mirror.
"Do you think anyone else could tell? I was running a little late so it wasn't my best work."
"They didn't say anything. Probably too starstruck to notice anyhow."
"Starstruck? This entire family is more famous than I am."
"You're a hard women to get a hold of. Actually getting to wear one of your works is an honor from what I've been told."
"The honor is all mine," Marinette joked while writing something on her clipboard.
"How did you change your voice? Not gonna lie, it's kind of creeping me out."
"Magic."
"Should've known. It takes a bit of faith, trust, and pixie dust after all," I replied referencing a joke she made earlier.
"Well, it can't seem like I'm giving you extra treatment, so I'll have you put on this suit. Once you're back, I'll do a look over."
"You can look me over whenever you want."
As a response, Marinette laughed while handing me my suit. Looking closely, I could see the amount of time and effort she put into it. The suit appeared formal while also capturing my normal style. I understand why they say it is an honor now.
Not wanting to take up too much of Marinette's time, I started undressing in the studio she created instead of the changing room. It took her a moment to realized the door never opened. She turned around almost looking a little horrified I was standing there in just my boxers. Probably has something to do with everyone else being on the other side of the door.
"Jason! You can't change in here," Marinette said saying my name a bit too loud.
"Why? You saw me in my boxer before we started dating," I replied trying not to laugh at her reaction.
"What if someone came in? What would we say?"
"That I'm really bad at listening to directions and just started stripping right after you said to change into the suit. It's not too hard to believe."
Marinette's body relaxed as she started laughing. "Well, I can't complain about the view," she said as she sat down on seat beside her.
"See. That's exactly why I should've been known as eye candy number one."
"You're never gonna let that go are you?"
"One day maybe."
"I'm taking that as never."
As Marinette crossed her legs, I noticed something shimmer in the light. A Red Hood anklet. Can't believe she is still dressing even when she is going out as MDC.
"I thought you only did that for a week," I said point at the anklet.
"Technically, it restarts on Monday. I'd thought you would like it though."
"You look beautiful no matter what you wear."
"Even as a blonde?"
"Of course, but I do prefer the original."
"You're just saying that to get brownie points."
"Did I earn some?"
"Of course now..." Marinette started but was interrupted by the rattling of the door. "You don't think they began listening in." Her voice now a whisper.
"After my initial reaction when you first walked out and all the laughing, their curiosity probably got the better of them," I replied.
"Oh God, they probably belief you are cheating on me now. To them, I'm not Marinette."
"If only they minded their own business," I sighed.
"It's official. I'm coming to dinner tonight for the make up one Mr. Wayne offered. I'm curious if they'll say or hint at something," Marinette said her eyes screaming with mischief.
"You're evil."
"And you need to get dressed."
"But I thought you liked the view."
"I do, but I have several others to see."
~Meanwhile in no one's POV~
"What is taking so long?" Tim groaned.
"Something probably needed to be fixed," Dick suggested.
"Jason!" a women's voice exclaimed on the other side of the door causing almost everyone's head to snap over.
"Oooo someone is in trouble," Stephanie joked.
"Too much laughing for that," Tim said creeping over to the door only to see the others looking at him strangely. "Oh come on. I'm not the only one curious on what is happening on the other side of this door."
Realizing he was right, Stephanie, Dick, and Damian walked over as well listening in.
"Can't complain about the view..." they heard MDC say very faintly.
"The view?" Stephanie asked raising an eyebrow.
"Gotham's view maybe? She is from another country," Dick replied.
"Eye candy number one..." Jason said.
"Are they flirting?" Tim questioned.
"There's no way. You know how much Jason loves Marinette. He would kill for her. They already said I love you to each other."
"What are they? A Disney couple?"
"You look beautiful..." once more from Jason.
"I will kill Todd," Damian said. Knowing how Damian feels about Marinette, Dick was ready to hide all the weapons in the cave and manor.
"Shut up. I'm trying to listen," Tim said leaning in closer only to cause the door to rattle. "Shit!"
"You just gave us away Drake."
"You shouldn't be listening in on a private conversation," Alfred said entering the room looking at the four crouched at the door leading to the fitting room.
Knowing not to argue with Alfred, they go back to their previous seats wondering what was happening behind that door.
Ten minutes and 32 seconds (Tim would know as he was counting), the door opened revealing Jason and MDC laughing.
"It was great to meet you Jason," MDC said with a smile before looking at her clipboard. "Your turn Ms. Brown."
Unlike with Jason, Stephanie was in and out. However, she did not seem as happy as she originally did this morning. MDC had taken notice but decided not to say anything.
"Mr. Drake, I do have to tidy up the room a bit, but I shouldn't be long. Give me about five minutes," MDC said looking at Tim.
Tim had conflicted feelings about going into the room. He was excited to meet and wear an MDC original, but he was angry over the fact Jason was flirting with her even though he has a girlfriend.
Tim didn't know Marinette well. He had only brief interactions with her in and out of the suit. From what he could tell, she was smart, funny, and kind. Marinette was the type of person Jason needed in his life but here he stupidly was flirting with another woman.
"Mr. Drake, if you would follow me," MDC said snapping him out of his thoughts. "I apologize for the wait. After so many people, the room began to look a little messy."
"Not surprising with who you are doing fittings for today," Tim replied as the door shut.
MDC chuckled at Tim's joke as she walked over to the clothes rack.
"I have your suit right here. You can go into the room to the right to get changed. Then we'll work from there."
"The fabric feels very comfortable," Tim said walking out of the changing room a couple minutes later.
"Glad to hear. How does it fit?"
"Not too tight but not too loose."
"I will do a quick look over to check all the details and measurements."
"If you don't mind me asking, why did Jason take so long compared to everyone else?"
"The measurements were off. The ones I was given were too small. I will have to fix his entire suit, but it's quite alright. At least, we caught the mistake early."
"You two seemed quite cosy together."
"He knows how to make someone laugh when they are in a stressful situation. Could extend your right arm?"
Tim did as he was told but was still very skeptical of MDC's answers. While they weren't lies, the whole truth wasn't told.
"Nice anklet," Tim pointed out noticing it glimmer in the light as MDC walked to grab her clipboard.
"Thank you. After a friend of mine informed me that our mutual friend was coming to Gotham, I jumped at the chance to show my work off to another country. Most of my commissions come from Europe more specifically France. She gave me the opportunity I was looking for."
"Marinette?"
"You've met?"
"Yes. I have been her tour guide a couple of times. She is also dating Jason who has talked about her quite a bit," Tim said stressing the words dating and Jason.
"Glad to hear she found someone who cares for her after everything she's been through," MDC replied but before Tim could ask any more questions she continued, "It appears to fit perfectly. And you said it's comfortable?"
"One of the best suits I now own."
"Thank you. You are free to change."
Taking one more glance over his shoulder, Tim walked out of the room now a little unsure that Jason and MDC were actually flirting. He didn't have solid proof that they weren't beside her words, and sometimes words aren't enough.
Damian was the last one for fittings. Out of the last three, Stephanie was distant hardly saying a word (totally unlike her), Tim was cautious asking questions in order to figure out what exactly happened with Jason, and Damian was cold with the occasional snarky comment.
~Marinette's POV~
After packing up the fitting room, I went into the changing room to make sure nothing was left behind. Once I was reassured I had everything, I pulled out my phone to call Jason.
"Hey Pix," Jason greeted after only two rings.
"Jay, they totally think you are cheating on me with me."
"One moment. Let me go to another room... Ok now tell me everything."
"They definitely overheard some of our conversation. Obviously flirting without someone who isn't your partner is cheating or at least to me."
"Don't tell me they acted rudely to you."
"They were obviously to the fact that I am actually MDC which is reassuring. Damian was a completely different person than he usually is to me."
"Ugh him and his stupid crush."
"It's cute."
"It's annoying."
"You jealous of a twelve year old?"
"No. I am the only one for you after all. You still texting Bruce about coming tonight? You really don't need to after their treatment earlier."
"They didn't know it was me. At least we know how they would react if you were cheating."
"With glares and probably death threats."
"That's what family is all about. I'm all done packing up and have to head back to the hotel. The voice disguise is starting to wear off."
"I'll meet you at the door."
"Wouldn't that just strengthen their theory?"
"Who cares. As long as we know."
"Love you," we said at the same time.
After putting my phone in my purse, I opened the door to the living room to give a farewell.
"I'll be back soon to drop off Jason's new suit. I need to take it back to my studio, so he can have a suit that actually fits. It was great working with you all."
I gave them a small way before walking out of the main door. Just as Jason said he was waiting for me.
"Making me an extra special new suit?" Jason asked walking by my side.
"Not my fault your measurements were off."
"Nah you just want to see me..."
"Jason no. I know what you are going to say and no."
"Lies."
I just rolled my eyes and began loading everything into the limo Alfred had parked right in front of the house.
Once packed up, I put my hand out for Jason to shake. "It was great to meet you Jason. I'll be back with your suit in a couple days."
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well," Jason replied shaking my hand. "Wish me luck with the mess we accidentally created."
"I'm the definition of luck."
With that I got into the car where Alfred was waiting in.
"Seems like it was an interesting fitting," Alfred said with a chuckle.
"You only know the half of it."
With college started up again I thought I'd do a longer chapter. Plus I was on a roll. I'll see you all in the next chapter that has cute Jasonette scenes.
