First Day in Gotham

I'm not sure why but this chapter was so hard to write. I had an outline but words weren't flowing.

The plane ride to Gotham was uneventful for the most part. Being the matchmakers that we are, Adrien and I got Nino and Chloe to spend some alone time together. The woman working the ticket counter may have said something about not switching seats, but Adrien getting Nino's ticket was completely on accident.

While everyone in the group was in their own world or hanging out, Adrien and I were in the front looking at a couple of Fu's tablet. Hawkmoth has the original decoded copy Fu made, but luckily we have one of our own. As we discussed our plan, Adrien and I used Guardian language. No one else would be able to understand, and it wouldn't feel so secretive.

"Do you think you can get a copy of your father's schedule?" I asked Adrien.

"I'll have to get my hands on Nathalie's tablet. She doesn't go anywhere without it, so it's gonna be difficult," Adrien replied.

"Does she keep your schedule on it as well?"

"My schedule is on there as well. So what if I ask to see it, and while I'm 'looking' I bug it. You've gotten good at computers right?"

"I have. Before Max left, I got some lessons from him. Once he was gone, I continued studying on my own. But how will you get your hands on the tablet when we are six hours away?"

"Do you think we can wait until then?"

"The sooner the better. If our theory is proven correct and it is him, then we'd need time to create a plan to defeat Hawkmoth. Waiting a month to prove we are right is a lot of time."

"You're right LB, but how else can we get our hands on it?"

I thought for a moment thinking of anything. "We can't. We'll use this month to make a tight plan on getting the information and how we would act on it. Maybe even develop a rough draft on how to defeat Hawkmoth altogether."

I was about to continue on when I noticed the gang staring at us. "What?" I asked going back to French.

"What are you guys talking about?" Nino questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"What's so secretive that you two are speaking in another language?" Chloe added on.

"I think I heard the word Hawkmoth in your discussion," Nath pointed out.

I looked at Adrien. He put his head down looking all sad. Ok cover story number one. All the details in the story are true. Nothing is made up. It's just not exactly what we were talking about.

"You're right. We were talking about Hawkmoth," I said looking down at my lap.

"What about him?" Kim asked.

"He is becoming deadlier," Adrien answered.

"Are you talking about how he has his victims do things like turn others to stone?" Alix asked.

"No. It's much worse than that," I told them.

"What do you mean by that?" asked Chloe.

I looked Adrien in the eye. I didn't want to ever tell them this. I don't know their reaction.

"His victims have taken others lives..."

"People have actually died?" Kim asked.

"Yeah," Adrien replied.

"Then how does no one know? How don't we know? If we are fighting all these battles, wouldn't we have memories of it?" Nino questioned.

"My miraculous cure... It erases peoples' memories. No one recalls dying or seeing someone die. I take away those dark memories away from everyone including you guys."

"Mari and I are the only ones who remember. We didn't want to freak you guys out."

"People have died and no one remembers..." Chloe says trying to wrap her head around it.

"Shouldn't Luka or I remember? We have miraculous that deal with time," Alix argued.

"You remember what I want you to. I know it sounds horrible taking away your memories, but all those bodies. Adrien and I could never prepare you for it. The expressions on your faces as you looked at Paris..." I couldn't finish. I wasn't acting or anything just to make the cover story believable.

"Why do you two have to be the ones to carry the burden of those memories?" Nath asked.

"Someone has to, but don't worry about it just being us. Although I don't know who Hawkmoth is, I know for a fact that he still has those memories."

"The reason why we have to carry the memories of destruction and death is due to our miraculous. I wield the miraculous of destruction while Mari carries the miraculous of creation. In order to erase those memories, we have to keep them."

"It shouldn't have to be just you two. We are a team after all," Nino said.

"None of you have been through the proper training. The last guardian was the one who trained us. While I may be the guardian now, I'm not skilled enough to train you in such advance stuff. You need to trust us," I said.

"Always."

"We'll land in Gotham in two hours. How about we all get some rest?" Adrien suggested.

So I may be a little evil by putting them through that, but I had this scene planned out for quite some time. Blame the ideas that come to mind during the middle of the night as I'm trying to sleep.

~Time Skip~

Due to being in first class, we were able to get off first. It wasn't until we got our luggage that the rest of the class came flooding out. What came out of Lila's mouth was one of the most disturbing things I have heard in a long time.

"I can't believe I'm finally back in Gotham. My Damiboo must have convinced his dad to pick our class since he missed me so much," Lila lied.

"Damiboo?" Alya asked.

"I shouldn't have said anything, but I know you all can keep a secret. I was once in a relationship with Damian Wayne. He was so in love with me and once said he wanted to marry me when we get older. He was so upset once I told him I had to leave."

"You're recording this right?" I asked Chloe.

"How could I not? This is an over the top lie," she replied.

"Not to mention Damian is only 12 while she is 18," Nath added.

"If there is such a huge age gap, why would Lila say she dated him?" Kim questioned.

"Probably because he is Bruce's only blood son. Everyone else was adopted," Adrien answered.

"That doesn't make them any less family though," I added.

"I can't believe you dated a Wayne," Mylene said.

"Do you think you will get back together with him since you're back?" Rose asked. "That would be so cute."

"It's been so long since I've seen him, but I wouldn't be surprised if he asked me out the moment he laid eyes on me again."

"I think I'm going to throw up," Nino whispered.

I felt my phone vibrating. I pulled it out to see Mr. Wayne calling me.

"I'll be right back. I have an important phone call," I told my friends as I walked away.

"Hello Mr. Wayne," I said once I answered.

"Good afternoon Ms. Dupain-Cheng. Due to the dangers of the city, I decided to send someone to pick you all up at the airport. He should be arriving shortly and will ride with you all to the hotel," Mr. Wayne replied.

"Why thank you. How will I know who it is?"

"He'll be towards the front holding a sign with your name on it. Do be safe."

"Of course. Have a great day and once more thank you for everything."

I heard a quiet chuckle on the other side. "Have a great day. I look forward to meeting you in person."

I walked back to see everyone all prepared to leave with their bags by their side.

"Mr. Wayne sent someone over to accompany us to the hotel we will be staying in the rest of the trip. He'll be by the exit holding a sign," I said leading everyone.

"I can't believe she is trying to boss us all around," I heard Lila 'whisper'.

"You won the trip, so why is she acting like she is in charge," Alya said.

This is going to be a long trip.

~Jason's pov~

I'm not sure how I got roped into this. Dick was supposed to pick up the winners, but here I am too. He was holding a sign with the winner's name on it. Why couldn't he do this alone?

"Oh cheer up Jason. Picking people up from an airport isn't as horrible as you're making it out to be. Plus you needed to get out. Black Mask is being quiet at the moment, so there's nothing we can do," Dick told me.

"You and I both read about this class. The information Babs and Replacement found was disturbing. I'd rather be holed up in my safehouse than be here," I replied.

"That's exactly why we are here in the first place. Bruce wants someone to get a quick look on them before everything begins."

"I think he should have done the research before picking the winner. We are having to babysit a class that is filled with drama."

"Marinette can't help what class she is a part of. We both read that essay. She definitely deserves it."

After Dick said her name, a smaller woman came over to us.

"Hello, I'm Marinette and those behind me are my class," Marinette said.

The class was clearly divided into two different groups. One group appeared way more matured than the other. The second group surrounded a girl with sausage hair who wasn't shutting her mouth.

"I'm Dick and behind me is Jason," Dick replied shaking her hand. I just gave her a nod.

"Mr. Wayne's sons. It's a pleasure to meet you. I don't want to come off as some cringy fangirl, but I saw your work in the Flying Graysons. It is very impressive."

"You know about my past in the Flying Graysons?" Dick asked her.

"I may have done a bit of research on those who are sponsoring our trip. I know you did your own research on us, so it seems only fair."

I chuckled at Marinette's response. It's only fair she stalked us like we did her. However, we couldn't get everything. No matter the hacking skills the family has, certain things were buried deep. I was also curious on what all she found.

"Shall we go?" Dick asked.

Worse bus ride ever. The girl with sausage hair wouldn't close her mouth the entire time, and everything that came out was rather complete lies or horrible things about Marinette, her friends, and even us. How anyone puts up with her is a miracle. What makes matters worse was how the teacher did nothing to stop it. Once the bus parked in front of the hotel, I never felt more happy. Everyone filed off the bus with their luggage, but Marinette stayed behind.

"I wanted to apologize about some of my classmates. This isn't exactly the first impression I wanted to leave on Mr. Wayne's sons," Marinette apologized to us.

"You can't control the actions of your classmates. You and your friends did nothing wrong," Dick said which put an adorable smile on her face.

"Thank you. I wish I could promise my class would get better, but that would be an empty promise. I should catch up with them so I can pass out room keys. Have a great day."

Damn that girl is something else.

~Marinette's POV~

How embarrassing. I can't believe the comments coming out of Lila's mouth. I can handle the lies she makes about me and my friends, but the Waynes. I can tell she doesn't know who they are, but still. They are going out of their way to help us, and Lila kept criticizing them over everything. I'm just happy it was Dick and Jason instead of Mr. Wayne himself.

After grabbing the last two of my bags, I walked to the front desk. I got there just before Lila or Mrs. Bustier did. I was not in the mood for anymore drama. I knew more was going to come over room assignments, but I planned on leaving before anything could be said.

While everyone else got normal rooms, me and my friends got the bigger suites, perks of being the winner of the scholarship. Our rooms were divided my gender, but they were right across from each other. Before leaving I let everyone know that the rest of today and tomorrow were rest days, and the actual trip would start on Wednesday.

~Time Skip~

While the boys had their own room, they decided to crash in the girls' room. If we can all fit in my room, then having a sleepover in our suite is nothing. The clock read 1 and I thought I was the only one up. I snuck out of the bedroom everyone else was in to work on some designs for MDC.

"Bug, you and Mr. Wayne scheduled for today to be a rest day after the long trip. That means you need to rest," Adrien said walking over to where I was sitting.

"But I have some designs to get done. The Wayne's ordered suits and dresses for their upcoming gala," I replied not looking up.

"And you have a month to work on that. Take a break. You deserve it."

"It's 7 our time, so my body feels like it should be up."

"I know how to make you tired. Get changed and meet me on the roof. I don't want your fighting skills to get rusty."

I finally put my sketchbook down and looked at him. "You're gonna be the one who needs to touch up your skills after I kick your ass."

"Then prove it. Spar with me on the roof and we'll see who's the victor."

"I'll see you up there in ten minutes."

"You're on."

Adrien quickly went to his room to get changed while I snuck back into mine. I had to step over several bodies just to get a change of clothes.

After getting dressed, I grabbed my water bottle and some boxing tap. I went through Chloe's window in her room to get onto the roof. Waiting for me was Adrien.

"Took you long enough," he said with a smirk.

"I had to get my stuff without waking everyone up, so it took me a hot sec," I said wrapping my hands.

Once both our hands were wrapped, Adrien and I got into position. Our eyes locked and it was go time. Due to training together so many times, we knew each other's strengths and weaknesses. Most of the time it would end in a draw. I didn't expect this spar to end up with some of the Bat Boys on the roof trying to stop it.

~Jason's POV~

Although some progress had been made on the Black Mask case, it wasn't enough. I still needed an exact time and location before making a move. Since I was already in the Batcave, I agreed to go on patrol. I was paired with Dick which I didn't mind. We were supposed to make a quick stop at Wayne Hotel where the French class was staying at.

We were sitting on a building across from the hotel when we saw someone heading to the roof. Not even two minutes later another figure made their way up there as well.

"Want to get a closer look?" Nightwing asked.

We ran across the rooftops stopping at the neighboring building. The two figures that we saw were now clearly made out to be a small woman talking to a man about half a foot taller.

"It took me a hot sec," the woman finished saying as she wrapped her hands in boxing tape throwing the tape to the man after she was done.

"Why are they putting on boxing tape?" Nightwing asked out loud.

"Like I would know," I replied.

The two stood across one another and started to fight.

"Think we should stop them?"

"No. I want to see where this goes."

'Tiny but mighty.' I thought as I watched the woman. She was landing hits but also taking a few herself. The two were throwing stupid remarks at one another that seemed to make things a bit more heated.

Obviously nothing bad. It's just small comments about each others fighting. Pointing out flaws and stuff.

"They got some moves," I commented.

"Shouldn't we stop it before it gets out of hand? It's already appears to be getting more intense."

It wasn't until the woman got kicked in the chest before I thought about stopping it.

"Ok fine. Let's go."

We jumped over to the rooftop with a quiet thump. Dick and I were still hidden in the shadows waiting for the right time to step in.

"You're distracted," the man commented. He was blonde with green eyes. Although he was average height, he appeared to tower over the woman who was back on her feet.

"Maybe I'm taking it easy on you," she replied.

"You never go easy. It's part of the reason our fights last so long. What's on your mind?"

"There are two creeps watching us." The boy let her use him as a tool to launch herself landing in front of us.

"Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed," the boy said.

"Now what are two vigilantes like yourselves doing creeping on some high school students?" the girl questioned me and Dick while the boy walked over.
