Clark Kent from the Daily Planet
Before the chapter begins, note that I know little about technology and hacking. That being said some things may not be 100 percent accurate so bare with me and pretend it is. When I'm done with the story I might go back and fix it. Who knows? Also some big kid words are said. Thought I should warn those who are younger about it. Now onto the story.
~Jason's POV~
I sat in my safehouse that contained most of my research on the Black Mask case. I noticed him trying to make some big moves in my territory aka what was once his. I planned on figuring what his main goal was by myself however Babs somehow found out and guilt tripped her way into me letting her help. I can't lie that it has made somethings easier. I don't exactly have access to the technology she does. We came to the agreement that I would let her in on the case as long as she kept the details secret. The rest only know that Barbra is providing me with a bit of information and backup if needed. If they knew the whole truth, they would start putting their nose in business they had no reason to be in.
As for Marinette, she knows I am working on something big but does not push to know everything. If I tell her I have to work on the case or am going into the field, all she'll say is be safe and to reach out if I need help. I can tell she still worries, but it is the equivalent to her case with Hawkmoth. I only know the overall situation. With hero work and relationships, there appears to be a line or at least for the two of us. We're there for each other, but don't want to interfere in the already delicate operations.
"Letting you know I am heading out to work," I text her once I put on my Red Hood uniform.
"I'm also heading to work. Be safe. You have my work number, so reach out if needed. Love you," she texted back in code.
"What happened to being exhausted? I almost had to carry you to your room."
"My job doesn't have stable hours."
"Be careful then and reach out if you need help. Love you too." I put down my phone and turned on my coms linked to Oracle.
"Red Hood to Oracle, I am heading to the location I was given from Mask's men. Coms and location should be on," I said before grappling out of the safe house.
"I can see and hear you. I am also looking over the others, so I am sorry for any delays. Your com is only available to me. Be safe and don't hesitate to ask for back up. Your secret case is not as important as your life."
"Sound like Pixie," I accidently said out loud.
"Does she know?"
"About my night job? Yeah she does. I didn't even need to tell her. She was like Red Robin and figured it out on her own."
"How? With Double R, he saw Nightwing do the flip that only one person can do. He also lives in Gotham. Not the other side of the world."
"Faith, trust, and pixie dust is all I can tell you."
"God, you are smitten."
"Shut up... I am here. I'll let you know how things go later."
~Marinette's POV~
"So last week you mentioned something about a new plan for Hawky, but never got to actually tell me," Adrien said sitting on my bed.
"We use the miraculous of the rooster to make us invisible. I don't have access to a super computer like the Batcomputer, but I was able to create a bug. I currently have it on an encrypted flash drive. It can work for a long distance and once I download it on the computer I have access to every electronic in the mansion. We need to be in and out when we go to plant it."
"And how do you know it works?"
"I bugged my house even installing small cameras in a couple rooms, so I could watch. It didn't feel right to do it anywhere else. Let me get out my laptop."
"You bugged your house... If you were evil, this would be horrible."
"Well, I have fucked with my parents a bit. Watch."
I saw my dad on the couch just about to beat my highest score on a video game the two of us had gotten into a while back. "Not today..." I turned off both the TV and console with a devious grin.
"Sabine! It happened again! I was one button away from beating the highest score."
"Imagine how funny it would be if you could control the lights. You could get the two to think the place was haunted."
"If I had access to a better computer and knew a bit more about coding, I think I could. It would be payback for what I overheard them saying."
"What do you mean?"
"Rumors made their way to the bakery. I don't think they believe them, but they have made them distance."
"You're kidding right?"
"They don't think I am entirely innocent. Their logic seems to be that things wouldn't have been said if I hadn't done something."
"What have they been saying?"
"They are disappointed in me for even being involved in such rumors or something. Disappoint, Marinette, and rumors have been said a couple times. You saw their reaction when Lila first got me suspended. Evidence was pointed against me, but they wouldn't even let me get a word in. It's been that times ten."
"I am so sorry Bug."
"Family isn't just blood. I think found family is stronger. I have my friends and the Waynes. There are also so many people who disown their own parent or child for their actions. As sad as it might be to lose them, I have people who will always be in my corner."
"You don't deserve any of this though."
"You can't change the past. You learn from it and move on. Now enough about my mommy and daddy issues. You'll have to lead me around your place since I don't know it well. I'll have access to the other miraculouses in case something doesn't go according to plan."
"What about the others?"
"They'll be on patrol. People will be broken up into teams and spread throughout the city. We will be one and will head over."
"Coms?"
"They'll turn on when we hit them like usual. Location for the two of use will make it look like a glitch so it will be hard to track us down."
"I want you to be right and wrong about it being my father. If you're right, then we are one step closer to winning the war, but he is still my father."
"I can't imagine what you are going through, but you have me."
"What will we say if he is?"
"That is a conversation for later. We can't think of that right now."
"Ready to get everyone?"
"Yeah."
"Everyone knows the plan?" I asked.
"Divide and conquer." Kagami answered.
"We need to make it look like we never left. Usually we try to be invisible, but I want you to do a small way every now and then. Be seen but not too much."
"We have it." Luka reassured.
"See you all soon."
Cat Noir launched himself to land on a house a couple blocks away. I gave the others a quick nod before falling him.
"Are you ok?" I asked Cat Noir.
"A little nervous, but as you say I can put a pin in it. We need to be completely focused."
I pulled the miraculous of the rooster out of my yo-yo. "Do you want to wear it?"
"It's your plan. You wear it. I'm just glad there's no longer a time limit when you use the power."
"God that was so inconvenient."
"We're all grown up. No longer babies."
"And now we are stalling."
I put on the thumb ring and Orikko flew out.
"Guardian?" Orikko questioned.
"We need you for a special mission. You ready?" As a response, Orikko nodded ready for battle. "Orikko, Tikki, reunify."
Surprisingly my new uniform appeared to be more rooster than ladybug. I had golden boots that went just below my knees and blue pants that complimented my orange chest plate and sleeves. My hair was put up in a ponytail with a red and black hair tie. My domino mask was exactly like the one I have as Ladybug.
"That's one of your better uniforms after you reunify. Remember Pennybug?"
"It was so ugly. I don't know what I was thinking... Sublimation!" I called out. "I give us the power to turn invisible with us being the only ones to see and hear each other and be able to go through solid objects."
"That tickled," Cat laughed. "Anyway, we'll go through my window just so we can make sure everything works. I've used that thing to escape so many times. I know the exact angle and area to jump."
"You sure that is actually a house?"
"It's more of a prison which makes me the master of stealth."
"We'll jump through on the count of three. One... Two.. Jump!"
I closed my eyes nervous that asking for two powers would be too much causing us to hit the window.
"That tickled even more," Cat Noir commented once we landed on his bedroom floor.
"I'm just glad it worked."
"We better continue before the others begin getting worried. His main computer is on the first floor in his office."
"Lead the way Kitty."
"Can I slide down the stair railing? I was never able to and being invisible gives me the perfect chance to," Cat Noir asked bouncing up and down.
"Just make sure you don't go through it."
While I walked down the stairs, Adrien slid down with a childish grin on his face. If only he got a fun childhood getting to do silly things like that.
"Just as fun as I thought it would be. Through this door."
We walked through and saw Gabriel walking away from it to look at the photo of Adrien's mom.
"He's distracted. Go upload it," Cat instructed also looking at the photo. It is beautiful. He really does have his mother's eyes.
"If this takes forever to upload, it will be my thirteenth reason."
"And you call me the drama queen."
I inserted the flash drive and watched the numbers go up until it reached 100.
'Leave it in for an extra five seconds and properly remove it. Then run like hell,' I told myself.
"Holy shit..." I whispered.
"What!?" Cat replied whipping his head over.
"It's uploaded and saved. You'd have to have Oracle's skill to realize something's changed. Let's get the hell out of here."
Since we knew everything worked properly, Cat Noir and I didn't bother doing through the actual door and ran out through the wall. Once we were several blocks away, I dropped Orikko's transformation becoming Ladybug once more.
"Everything went according to plan. Not gonna lie, I thought something was going to happen," Cat Noir confessed.
"I'm the definition of luck, but not going to lie I felt the same way..."
~Jason's POV~
This is not how I wanted my night to go. It was supposed to be a simple recon mission. Get information and get out. Don't interfere unless it's absolutely necessary. It's not usually my style, but today wasn't the day to rush in. I didn't have enough information and could give myself away.
"It's been a moment since you've checked in. Everything going ok?" Oracle asked.
"There's a reason why I'm being silent," I whispered.
"Ok but..."
"I have to move. I'll talk to you later." With that I turn off my com to keep Oracle from ease dropping.
"Don't tell me you broke my golden rule," I said landing behind the dealer. "How hard is it to not avoid dealing to children?"
"I wasn't," the man said turning around.
"All evidence to the contrary." I pulled the crowbar on my back and swung it at the man's kneecap. I couldn't help but smirk as he cried out in pain. "Let this teach you a lesson."
After another swing and a punch, the man was lying in front of me.
"Want to explain how you ended up here."
"I'm not telling you anything," the kid yelled.
"I'm trying to help you."
"You're not getting a word from me!"
"I'm not or you can't?"
"How..."
"Let me tell you a story. One day a kid was given an offer too good to be true. They knew they shouldn't take it, but did so anyway. With that offer they were able to support their family and get needed necessities. Some time had passed and the child forgot all about the offer. That was until the same men cornered him. It didn't take the kid long to realize they were now theirs simply because they took their offer. In order to keep their family safe they had to do whatever the men said. To make sure the child did, they were bugged."
"You don't know what you are talking about."
"Maybe not. It was just a story I was once told. You never let me finish though. One day that kid was saved. They didn't have to watch what they say or constantly look over their shoulder. It just took a little help for it to happen."
"And how do you know some stupid story like that!?"
"He was my best friend. You can believe me or not but you should run. Don't think I didn't notice you calling for backup while I was talking. Honestly I strangely have respect for it. Takes a lot of guts to pull something like that. Now run so you are caught in the cross fire." I put my hand on his shoulder to not only push him away to safety but plant a tracker. I'll come back for him.
"You're weird," the boy said over his shoulder before running away.
Once he was gone men came storming into the alley. So much for recon...
~Marinette's POV~
"We did a great job today. It looks like everything went according to plan. Let's head back and get some much needed rest," I said to the team.
"I don't think getting seen a little during patrol is something to celebrate as much as you are," Nino replied.
"Maybe but sleep sounds like the best thing ever," Kim yawned.
I opened the portal and slowly the team started walking through. I was interrupted by my Bugphone going off.
"Everything ok?" Luka asked.
"Looks like I have to stop by the bakery for a moment," I replied.
"Need backup?"
"I got this. Go to bed."
I swung towards the general direction of the bakery before answering. "Hood?"
"I'm cashing in reach out if needed. I have oouchy," Red Hood replied his words slurred.
"I'm going to portal to you. Let me just look at your location... Why does it look like your location is glitching?"
"I near safe house no Bat knows. I can to keep it that way, so I messed with my helmet. Now Oracle can't track me."
"I'm gonna use a bit of my luck to get to you. I will kill you if I find you dead in an alley."
"Makes no sense."
"Stop talking. I need you to use your energy to keep you alive."
I put on the sunglasses once more and unified the two kwamis. Taking a deep breath, I opened a portal that would hopefully lead me to Red Hood.
I stepped out to find myself in a gross alleyway that not only smelt like rotten garbage but sewage. Definitely Gotham. My head snapped over to the sound of a groan.
"For such a smart person, you are an idiot. I can only take care of you a little bit. You need to go to the cave," I said to Red Hood running to his side.
"We can't risk letting them know what is happening in Paris," Red Hood mumbled.
"I can't risk letting you die."
"Just take me to the apartment with the red and black curtains."
"If you're trying to hide, then why would you use such bright curtains?"
"How dare you speak ill of those colors! My girlfriend wears them the time."
"I love you... I gonna pick you up now, and it's gonna hurt like a bitch. I don't even know where you're hurt at."
"Put pin in that and go in."
"We're going through a portal to make things easier. You're gonna feel a spike of pain for just a moment."
I opened yet another portal before picking Red Hood up. I'm so glad I'm still transformed. There's no way I could carefully move him.
"Ow..." Red Hood muttered.
"I told you. I'm going to set you down on the mattress you randomly have laying on the floor. Can you tell me where the ouchy is at?"
"Tum tum hurts..."
"I gonna guess it's there then. Lay still while I grab your first aid kit."
"Hehe..."
"What?" I said coming back with his surprisingly stocked first aid kit.
"You're going to have to undress me."
"Been there. Done that. I'm going to detransform, so I can get some help from the kwamis. Tikki spots off. Kaalki dismount."
Tikki gasped at Jason while Kaalki flew around getting a good look.
"Can't we take him to Alfred?" Tikki asked.
"He's refused to. I'm guessing you've seen injuries like this before, so you're going to help me through."
Taking a close look at his armor I noticed it was tri-weave titanium coated armor plating. Nice, unless you know exactly where to shoot. Rather the person knew the weak spot or just got lucky.
"We're going to have a serious talk about this whole situation when you are better..."
~~~
"Not bad for my first and hopefully last surgery," I said out loud. "I have no idea what to do now though. Should I just steal Alfred and have him take a look?"
"I'm not sure how well that would go," Tikki laughed looking at a bandaged and passed out Jason.
"I'll figure out how to use Jason's coms and contact Oracle. You stay here and watch over him."
I grabbed Jason's helmet and gave it a good look over. Holy shit! Is he wearing a bomb on his head? If so, how was I able to take it off without anything going wrong? Fuck it. It's a conversation for later.
After figuring out how to work the coms, I turned them on only to hear Oracle yelling.
"I am going to kill you next time I see you. You promised me you'd keep your location and coms on. You idiot!"
"We'll both kill Red Hood later, but we have something bigger on our hands," I said cutting Oracle off.
"Mar..."
"Identities remember."
"Why exactly do you have his helmet?"
"The idiot called me saying he got an ouchy."
"There's no way Red Hood would call an injury an ouchy even to you."
"Unless he wasn't all there due to the extent of the injury."
"I'll tell people to get the med bay at the cave ready. Can you tell me where you're at?"
"I have no clue. All of Gotham looks the same, and I don't know how to stop his bucket from glitching," I lied just a bit knowing Jason didn't want anyone to learn about this safe house.
"Just stay on a little longer and I'll be able to narrow..."
"I didn't catch the last part Babs..." I started but the line cut off.
Damn it! Not only did I slip up letting Barbra know I knew she was Oracle, I didn't even take into consideration someone else may be with her.
"Well, I was able to tell Oracle Jason was injured but not where we are. Probably some stupid thing preventing anyone to figure it out," I told Tikki and Kaalki.
"I can fly out and look," Tikki offered.
"No. You can't be out in the city alone. Let me take a shower before I call Adrien and tell him what's happening."
"And why exactly weren't you answering your phone!?" Adrien almost yelled picking up after only two rings.
"Is everyone else asleep?" I asked.
"They are. I don't know how they could after you said something was happening at the bakery and you didn't come back."
"I got a call from a colleague who needed my help," I explained in code. It is not likely someone would be listening in, but I couldn't risk it. All the calls from the unknown numbers have put me a little on edge.
"I think I understand. That doesn't fully explain why you've been gone for several hours."
"My colleague got hurt, and I had to fix them up."
"Why didn't you take them to someone who has more experience?"
"I offered, but they wouldn't let me take them there. I was walked through on what to do from one of the oldest people we know though."
"Does their team know what happened?"
"I started talking to someone from IT, but our connection got cut out."
"What do you plan on doing? It is very late and just a few hours ago you looked ready to pass out."
"I can't move them anywhere nor can I leave them alone. I also have no clue where my exact location is at."
"Don't tell me you're staying over there. You have a long day at the Daily Planet tomorrow."
"I don't have much of a choice. I'll lay down and do what I can before we have to leave."
This is what we get for having my mission go smoothly. Jason's had to go through some shit, and I have no idea what to do anymore.
"What will I tell the others?" Adrien asked now breaking out of the code we were using earlier.
"You can't really tell them the truth, but I'm too tired to come up with a lie. God are we Lila?"
"When we lie it's for the greater good."
"Or is that what we tell ourselves to make us feel better?"
"Imagine what life would be like if they did know everything we did."
"It would be a chaotic shit show."
"Exactly. Now we both need rest. We'll get through tomorrow together."
"Nap on the bus?"
"Sounds great. Run over if you need anything," Adrien said before handing up.
I changed in some clothes Jason before laying on the couch to go to bed.
~Jason's POV~
Why does everything hurt? I feel like I got hit by a bus that had spikes on its tires and then backed over me just to make sure I was injured enough.
I looked around to see I was at the safe house closest to where I got hurt at. I don't exactly remember how I got here or how I'm alive. I kept fighting until the last person was out even though my body screamed at me to stop.
Before I passed out or seemed to not fully be in my own body, I did call someone. Ugh, now I have to give away one of the last safe houses no Bat knew about.
"Don't try to get up. You're in no condition to do anything," a small voice said.
"Tikki?"
"You did a good job scaring all of us last night."
"Shit. Don't tell me Marinette did everything by herself."
"You refused to go to the cave, so she honored your wishes. I walked her through everything, but it might be a good idea to get it looked over by Alfred."
"For someone so smart, she is an idiot. Marinette should have ignored what I said. I wasn't fully there, and I wouldn't have gotten upset with her if she took me to get help from Alfred."
"Marinette did what she could without giving away identities and too much information."
"Where is she now?"
"Sprawled out on your my couch over there."
"How long did she stay up? She was exhausted just hours before she went on patrol."
"I have no clue, but I'll have to wake her. She wanted me to do so the minute you were up."
"I'm up!" Marinette yelled after Tikki whispered in her ear. "And you're up as well. You scared the shit out of me last night!"
"So I was told. You could have taken me to Alfred."
"I was clearly instructed not to. Plus when I did reach out to Oracle, the connection cut out."
"My bad. I'm not the best at tech but I am good at staying off the radar."
"None of that matters right now. I'm just glad you're safe."
"Thanks to you I am."
"What should we do? I have to leave soon, but I can't leave you all alone."
"I'll probably fall back asleep as soon as you leave. It hurts to move, and it looks like you got me some simple food and water to have when I can actually stomach things."
"You'll text me if you need anything? I will come back the moment you say something."
"I'll text you if needed. Now go before your friends realize you're gone."
"Make sure to take those pain killers. I don't know how much they'll ease the pain. It's all you had in your first aid case."
~Marinette's POV~
I walked through the now closed portal just moments before Chloe swung open my door. I'm the definition of luck right now.
"You look comfy," Chloe said looking at the clothes that were several sizes too big.
"Comfy but tired. Let's get you all dressed. I think you'll look good in your Black Canary suit. It fits perfectly with Nino's Green Arrow suit."
"I know what you're doing Dupain-Cheng."
"You two obviously like each other, what's wrong with having matching outfits?"
"You're right on me liking him, but I'm not sure about the rest of that."
"I'm always right. Now before you spiral, what good is bottling your feelings up? The worst thing he could say is no. It would suck, but you'd never know unless you actually do something."
"Saying no could be horrible. What if it ruins our friendship? Maybe even the entire group dynamic. I wouldn't be surprised if he said no. I was horrible to everyone."
"I just told you not to spiral. Nino, could you take it from here?"
"He heard everything..."
"I heard everything..."
"I'll bring out the outfits. They will be in the common room when you're done."
Adrien was sitting on the couch grinning at the scene that was unfolding behind us. I yanked him down to somewhat hide us as we listened in.
"Have I mentioned how much that woman annoys me but I still love her?" Chloe said. Rude...
"It's part of her charm," Nino laughed.
"So..."
"Well, I'd love to match Justice League outfits with you."
"Really?"
"We've already matched this whole time. Joker and Harley even if they aren't together anymore, Nightwing and Batgirl, Black Carany and Green Arrow."
"Wait, Nightwing was with Batgirl?" Chloe asked confused.
"Well, the first one. There's been like three. Gotham and its vigilantes are weird," Nino answered.
"And Mari seems to have a crush on one," Chloe added onto the topic they seemed to easily change.
"Think she has a thing for bad boys?"
"Shut up and stop dancing around the original topic," I said a bit too loud blowing our cover.
"Stop eavesdropping Dupian-Cheng!"
"Says you!"
"So what does this mean for us?" Chloe asked dismissing me and Adrien as we continued to 'hide' behind the couch.
"I'd like to give us a chance," Nino said.
"I'd like that."
"Now kiss!" Adrien yelled.
"You can't yell that. They just got together."
"You flirted with Jason the moment you saw him and then ate his face after one date. You have no room to talk."
"You are such a drama queen! We just kissed a couple times!" I exclaimed now on my feet.
"That is not what it looked like from the roof," Adrien responded jumping to his feet as well.
"You sound like a stalker."
"Our best friends are so weird," Chloe said.
"You can say that again."
"And at least we tried to stay silent when we listened into Jason's conversation with Mari. They didn't even attempt to keep themselves hidden."
"They're too nosy. We better get ready or Marinette will kill us," Nino and kissed her cheek
"They kissed!" Adrien exclaimed.
"It was only on the cheek. Now go get ready," I said pushing Adrien away.
"I thought this day would never come. Adrien can be obvious to the things around him, but you two were worse."
"Shut up Dupain-Cheng."
"That's going to be Wonder Women to you."
"My bad," Chloe said sarcastically.
"They're still doing it," Alya scoffed walking into the breakfast room.
"It's ridiculous," Ivan said.
"Obviously trying to get attention..." Lila added.
"I saw their outfits on MDC's page," Juleka informed.
"What!?"
"The page is filled with photos of those outfits."
"Can't believe that wanna be designer even attempts to recreate MDC's work..."
Psd
"How dare you do such a thing Mari?" Nino gasped overhearing the conversation.
"I don't know how you were able to recreate them so fast but I am so disappointed," Adrien lectured.
"That's what your mom said when you were born," I joked.
"Jokes on you. I no longer have a mom."
"Jesus. No reason to go that far."
"Can't let you have the last laugh."
"That went from 3 to 100 in only a second."
"I'm the Flash. I obviously finish fast."
"That's what she said," Chloe said.
"You know I didn't mean it like that at all!"
"Yet it's what you said," Nathaniel added on.
"Are we going to bicker and insult each other or are we going to get something to eat?" Kim questioned.
"Maybe dressing like Superman made him responsible."
"It's like I'm watching a whole new Kim."
~One long bus ride later~
"Hello it's me. Clark Kent from the Daily Planet live with a group of idiots," I joked recreating his voice as we entered the lobby.
"That sounds a bit too Superman," Adrien whispered.
"Not my fault they're the same person," I muttered so softly only the Man of Steel could hear.
As he rounded the corner, Mr. Kent drop the stack of papers he was previously carrying his eyes wide.
"Hello Mr. Kent. My name is Marinette. Mr. Wayne had set up a quick tour of the Daily Planet. One of my classmates loves yours and your wife's work," I said helping him get the papers off the ground.
"The class from Paris. Mr. Wayne told me a lot about your class," Mr. Kent said. "Since we don't really do tours here, it won't be a long one. My boss also doesn't seem to be in a good mood this morning."
"So I have been warned. I'll let you take things over Mr. Kent."
"Please call me Clark. You're making me feel old."
"I don't even call Mr. Wayne by his first name, and I've been to the manor several times. I'm like Damian but more formal . And nicer."
~~~
"And this is my lovely wife, Lois Lane," Mr. Kent said as we followed him to a desk towards the back of the large room.
"Lois Lane! As in Pulitzer-prize winning investigative journalist Lois Lane!" Alya exclaimed.
"The one and only. Lois, this is the class from Paris that Bruce mentioned."
"It is great to meet you all. I was just about to head out to get more for my upcoming article."
"What's it about!?"
"The housing crisis in a part of Metropolis."
"Ohh... What was it like meeting Superman?"
"Let's just say I didn't expect to be saved by some mysterious guy when I was invited aboard an experimental space shuttle."
"I heard you two were close. Could you tell us anything about that?"
"He saved my life a couple of times. Superman is a hero after all."
"Besides Superman, who is your favorite member of the Justice League?"
"You can't tell anyone, but my second would be Batman who doesn't appear to be here today," Mrs. Lane said looking over at me and my friends.
"He had his depute last week along with the rest of the Bats," I replied.
"Who will make their appearance next?"
"Only time will tell."
"Anyway... Do you think you could get me an interview with the actual Superman?" Alya asked.
"Unfortunately, no. He is a hard guy to get a hold of."
"Just throw yourself out a window and yell his name," I whispered to Adrien chuckling. "I'm pretty sure that's what Mrs. Lane did."
"Don't give Alya and ideas. You know she would."
Overhearing our conversation, Mr. Kent glanced at us shaking his head with a smile.
"What if Sups was at the Watchtower when Mrs. Lane did put herself in danger just to see him?" I continued to whisper to Adrien.
"Oh shit. I didn't even think about that. Think his superspeed would be fast enough?"
"Mr. Kent? Do you know how fast Superman is?" I asked out loud snapping him from his thoughts.
"I think in an interview Superman did with Lois it was mentioned he was faster than the speed of light. Why?"
"Just coming up with hypnotical situations in order to understand Superman's powers," I replied before turning back to Adrien.
"So he could. There's a Zeta-Tube in the Watchtower as well that he could use," Adrien whispered once more.
"I think a Zeta-Tube would take too long."
"Boom Tube?"
"Does he even have a Mother Box to create one? I can see Bats having one because he is the mom friend who has everything, but I'm not sure about Superman," I replied.
"Where do you think they keep the Zeta-Tubes in Metropolis?"
"How fun would it be to hunt them down!?"
"Probably couldn't do anything though."
"Stupid heroes and their stupid need to keep everything secret."
"Who knows? Maybe one day you can turn into a hero like Green Arrow or Batman and get recruited to the Justice League."
"They're so emo though."
"Says the girl who is in love with Red Hood."
"That's different."
"Sure it is."
"It is!"
~Little while later~
"Thanks for the tour Sups. Until next time."
"What?"
"I said thanks for the tour and that I hope to see you again. We have to meet up with some of Mr. Wayne's people to finish our day here in Metropolis."
"And who's the unlucky few?"
"Originally, it was just going to be Cass and Steph but Babs wanted to tag along. It was a last minute addition since I got a text early in the morning."
"Strange."
"That whole family is strange, but I still love them."
"You love them? That's kind of fast."
"I got told I was a Disney princess after how fast my relationship with Jason started."
"Jason? As in 6'0, white tuff of hair, a glare that would..."
"That would make a girl smile because deep down he's kinda a softy. Yeah that Jason. Got to get going though. Goodbye Mr. Kent from the Daily Planet."
"Goodbye Miss Marinette Dupian-Cheng from Paris."
"It's Todd. Sounds better than Dupain-Cheng. Too wordy."
"You did it again," Adrien sighed when I sat down next to him. "Superman isn't the only one in Metropolis with great hearing."
"Can't a girl just gush over her boyfriend?"
"Speaking if which, how is Jason doing?"
"When I left, he seemed to be doing as good as you can after you get surgery. I'm more nervous on what will happen when Barbara gets her hands on him. When I contacted her, she was chewing Jason out."
"Does she know you know about all the Bats?"
"Probably, she's too smart not to. We'll find out soon enough since she is leading the tour along with the other girls."
"I like those two especially Stephanie."
"Their love for chaos is 10/10."
"Do I have to keep you away from them? You're already chaotic enough."
"What's life without it?"
"Peaceful."
"I think you mean boring."
"I think the museum you're making us go to is boring."
"Don't be disrespectful to Kim! A museum was created just for him."
"Welcome to the Superman Museum! One of Metropolis's most popular stops," a women greeted my class the moment we walked through the door.
"Hello," I replied looking around for the three Batgirls.
"Sooo Marinette are you ever going to tell me what you said to Tim to freak him out last night?" a voice rang out behind us.
"Sorry Steph, but it's a secret," I replied turning around to see the blonde walking over with Cass and Babs beside her.
"Yeah but if Tim knows than I should as well. That's just how things work."
"When you phrase it like that... No."
"I will get it out of you one day."
"Maybe, but you have a tour to give."
"But your class is the worse. Tim was telling me all about the two days at Wayne Enterprises."
"And unfortunately I don't have any water guns to squirt them with."
"We'll find something else," Steph said eyes gleaming with mischief.
"We can use the lasso to trip them," I suggested.
"Nice or we can..."
"Steph, we promised Bruce we'd be responsible," Barbra said.
"Nothing good happens when the girls team up."
"She's right," Cass agreed.
"What did you guys do last time?" Adrien asked now by my side.
"So Cass was preforming some tricks outside when out of no where seagulls start attacking her. It was the betrayal of the century. I'm driving so I can't do anything, but we do have Gary. He was supposed to fly the drone we borrowed from Bruce. Then boom! The seagulls that were previously attacking Cass ended up bumping the drone causing it go haywire falling into Gotham Harbor. Cass did what she could to grab it, but it was too late. If anything, I'd blame Gary for the whole mess."
"Ok but what did Barbra do?"
"She covered for us and talked to Bruce."
"See nothing good," Cass added.
"You really can't blame them Adrien. It was Gary's fault after all," I said laughing at the story.
"Could you two girls get the tour started? I have to talk to Marinette really fast," Barbra said.
"Ooooo somebody's in trouble," Stephanie said walking away laughing.
"What did you want to talk about?" I asked already knowing where this conversation was going.
"How's Jason and his ouchy?" Barbra questioned getting straight to the point.
"I got a text not long ago. He's been getting plenty of rest, but it's been hard trying to keep food down."
"How were you able to patch him up?"
"I used the first aid kit he had and got to work."
"But how? How do you know how to?"
"I read, but the bigger question is how did it happen? The uniform is tri-weave titanium coated armor plating. You have to know exactly where to hit."
"And how do you know that?"
"It wasn't my first time seeing his armor."
"Do you know everything?"
"About the Waynes' night job? Yeah, I know. Before you even start, no. Jason did not tell me."
"He told me last night you figured out his identity on your own, and I know Jason wouldn't share the big secret. Besides Jason, is anyone else aware that you know?"
"Adrien and Damian."
"How does Damian... I don't even want to know."
"I haven't told anyone, and I promised Damian I would tell Mr. Wayne everything."
"I trust you Marinette. You're good for Jason. Everyone at the manor loves and cares about you, especially Damian. I just wanted to confirm what I knew and see how Jason is."
"I'll make sure Alfred stops by wherever Jason is, so he can get a check up."
"Thank you for looking out for him. I am sorry you had to go through that last night."
"Watching my boyfriend bleed after getting shot and then doing surgery for the first time is exactly how I thought my night was going to go."
"You seem awfully calm over that."
"I've gotten used to Gotham," I replied as my phone vibrating in my pocket.
*Unknown Caller* lit up my screen when I pulled it out.
"You good?"
"I'm fine. It's a spam call. Now, let's go catch up with everyone else."
~~~
"I heard what you told Clark," Jason said the moment I set foot into his safehouse.
"Which part?" I asked innocently.
"I'm secretly a big softy which will ruin my reputation and you're Marinette Todd from Paris, France."
"You are and Dupain-Cheng is too wordy. Plus I wanted to mess with Superman a bit."
"And how do you know who he is?"
"I know everything including that there's a freaking bomb in your helmet."
"Can't risk people figuring out my identity."
"So you'd blow yourself up instead!?"
"Ok maybe having a bomb there is a bit extreme..."
"You think?"
Marinette: Wonder Woman, Chole: Black Canary, Adrien: Flash, Nino: Green Arrow, Kim: Superman, Alix: Vixen, Nathaniel: Green Lantern
Sorry to those who like Pennybug (bunny x ladybug x horse combination). I myself really didn't like it. Also the story with Gary came from the Wayne Family Adventures on WEBTOON. As I've said before I highly recommend it.
Until next time (Hopefully college and work won't keep me from updating as often as I'd like)
