Antidote

~Adrien's POV~

It had been a little over an hour since we all gave Marinette and Jason a moment to talk. Honestly, I was a little surprised they already exchanged I love yous. Guess Marinette is a Disney princess with how soon she fell in love.

I borrowed Chloe's room key to get Marinette so we could all get something to eat. I poked my head in but didn't see her at her sewing machine where I assumed she would be.

"Hey Marinette, we're going to Big Belly Burger for dinner. You coming?" I called out but got no response. "Bug?" Still nothing.

I walked in to find her on the couch with Jason. They were cuddled up sleeping. It was the most relaxed I have seen her since we came to Gotham.

I had to debate whether or not to wake the two up. Obviously, Marinette would be grumpy if she woke up to find we got food without her. However, she looked so peaceful.

"Tikki," I whispered.

"They're so cute," Tikki commented flying over to me.

"Yeah. He really makes her happy."

"Why do you sound sad?"

"I feel selfish right now. Hell, I might even be a little jealous. I love that she is happy and found someone who makes her feel special, but what if she doesn't need me anymore."

"She'll always need you Adrien."

"I am scared though. Before we came to Gotham, it was my job to keep her safe. I'm no longer needed. God, I am selfish."

"You two literally cannot survive without each other. Not just because of the connection the miraculous gave you. In all my years, I have never seen such a strong relationship."

"I feel like you're just saying all this to make me feel better. Just telling me what I want to hear."

"For someone so smart, you're an idiot," I heard Marinette grumble.

"How much did you hear?"

"I was up the moment you mentioned food."

"You sound like Plagg."

"And you sound like an idiot." By now Marinette had gotten out of Jason's arms and began walking over.

"No I sound selfish."

"Oh Kitty... Tikki was right when she said I'll always need you. You're irreplaceable. No guy could take your place in my life."

"But..."

"No buts. We're found family, and there's nothing stronger than that."

"Are we getting food or what?" Plagg asked poking his head out of my shirt.

"Yeah. I just need to tell Jay we're leaving."

"He's not coming?" I asked.

"No. He needs to get things set up with Bruce."

"What's that supposed to mean? It's too early to worry about the fittings."

"The toxin is still in my system, so the Bat is coming tonight to give me the antidote," Marinette confessed.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because you'll worry about me just like you're doing now."

"It's our job to worry about each other. You have been worried about my shoulder all day while you've been seeing some of your greatest fears."

"They'll be gone soon. You guys got everything?"

"They're in the lobby waiting right now."

"One moment." Marinette walked over to Jason kindly waking him up.

"I'll get things ready and meet you on the roof with Bruce when the sun sets. Be careful," Jason mumbled as he stretched.

"Will do. See you soon," Marinette replied giving him a kiss on the cheek.

"Gross," Plagg and I said at the same time.

"Oh shut up," Marinette replied her face turning red.

"You're so adorable when you blush," Jason commented before kissing the top of Marinette's head. "I'll see you too soon." With that Jason hopped out the window.

"And you say I'm dramatic."

"You are."

"At least I don't jump out windows after saying goodbye."

"Technically you do when you leave my room through my balcony."

"Stop arguing so we can get food," Plagg mumbled.

"M'lady," I said offering her my arm to walk her to the lobby.

"Let's go get food Kitty," Marinette replied looping her arm in mine.

"We've been walking for hours!" Kim exclaimed.

"It's been 15 minutes," Marinette replied looking at her phone for directions.

"I don't get why we're walking to this specific Big Belly Burger when we've already passed one," Alix commented.

"That one didn't have the Bat Specials. The one we're going to has a burger or dish named after every vigilante."

"You just want to get one named after Red Hood," I teased.

"Yeah, what's with your obsession with him? You already have a boyfriend," Nino asked.

"I'm not obsessed with Bucket."

"You even have a nickname for him."

"He doesn't even wear a hood. He wears a helmet. Fashion wise it doesn't make sense."

"Momma, Mari's in love with a criminal," Chloe sang.

By now, Marinette had a small blush on her face. "Thank God we're here."

"She didn't deny it," Nathaniel laughed.

"I just want to eat. It's been a long day."

"Are you gonna buy the action figure of Red Hood they sell here?" I asked.

"Yes. I want to get them all eventually. I think Robin will be my next one."

"Robin? The ten year old is your next favorite? The kid has swords."

"They're technically katanas, and I think he is 12."

~Marinette's POV~

The sun began to set as Adrien and I waited on the rooftop of the Wayne Hotel. The others were getting ready for bed. On the walk back, they kept complaining about how tired they were from the long walk and getting ready early.

Adrien and I snuck out of the window in my room to meet the Bats.

"You sure this antidote will work?" Adrien asked looking at the busy city below.

"Jason said Bruce and Tim had been working on it as soon as they got back from Wayne Enterprises. I trust them," I replied scoping out the neighboring rooftops in hopes of seeing the vigilantes.

"I wish you never put yourself in danger. If you waited, then you never would have been injected with that stupid toxin."

"Scarecrow was going to hurt someone while he waited for his henchmen to find whatever it was he was looking for. They would be used as a distraction. He'd try to make Batman choose between saving the person or saving the technology. By the looks of it, Lila was going to be Scarecrow's victim. I don't like her, but I'm not going to let her get hurt. It's our job to protect others. It was better me than her."

"Always have to be the hero."

"Maybe so, but I knew I could handle it longer than the others could. Batman could be able to prevent Scarecrow from getting his hands on whatever it was he wanted and then help me."

"It's exactly what's happening."

"I don't like having to get recused. It makes me feel weak. I really thought I beat it. That I was strong enough to not be another victim, but here we are."

"You're the strongest person I know Marinette. You're not weak for needing a little help."

"They're almost here," I said changing the subject.

"I knew Batman and Red Hood were going to come. I didn't expect Robin."

"Apparently, I'm his favorite. He even called me by my first name."

"I can't believe your boyfriend's little brother has a crush on you."

"There's no way he does. We've just come to an understanding after he apologized for what he said at dinner."

"You are so blind."

"Whatever."

A minute passed before the three finally landed on the roof.

"I wasn't aware your friend would be joining us," Batman said coming out of the shadows.

"I can't get rid of him no matter how much I try," I replied walking over.

"Hey!" Adrien exclaimed behind me.

"I'm kidding Kitty. You know I love you. So what now?"

"I'll just have you remove your jacket and then I'll inject the antidote," Batman explained.

"You sure it's going to work?"

"Red Robin did all the calculations, so yes."

"And here I thought he didn't like me."

"He'd be a fool not too," Robin commented.

"Aww, I love you too Robin," I teased causing him to blush. Ok so maybe Adrien was right.

"Can't believe you're cheating on me," Red Hood said grabbing his jacket from me.

"Hood!" Batman yelled.

"What? The blonde already knows."

"I have a name," Adrien said standing by my side.

"How many of your friends know Red Hood's identity?"

"It's just me and Adrien. You'd be a fool to think I wouldn't be able to tell my own boyfriend was under that bucket. Now let's get back to business. Do you need my neck or arm?"

"Best to do it where Scarecrow originally inserted the toxin."

"So neck. What happens after? Do you need a blood sample or to monitor my vitals?"

"You'll go under and be passed out for several hours. Most likely the entire night. I heard from Red Hood he was going to spend the night to watch over."

"Excuse me?" Adrien asked me.

"What? He's had to go through this. I'm probably not allowed in the Batcave, so Jason is the best option," I replied.

"I don't exactly approve this arrangement either," Batman added.

"Would you have this or me be in the Batcave?" I questioned folding my arms.

"Batman, while I see your concern, Marinette is right. There's no way you'd allow her in the cave due to the risk of figuring out our identities. Todd staying over is the next best option," Robin said.

"See even my bestie Robin agrees. I would be responsible and talk to Mr. Wayne about the arrangement, but I assumed you wouldn't want to involve any other citizen in this mess."

Batman looked me directly in the eye doing exactly what Red Robin did last night, acting like I'm a puzzle to solve.

"I guess there is no other option. No funny business."

"I'm going to be out all night. Nothing is going to happen."

"All of you need to stop acting like she's going to end up pregnant because we share a bed for one night," Jason grumbled

"I'd already be pregnant then," I muttered.

"Excuse me?" I heard once more. This time it came from Batman.

"I said let's get this over and done with. I want these visions gone. I can't even go get food with my friends without the world looking like it's going down in flames."

"That's not what was said. We will definitely be having a talk about this later Hood."

"You and your big mouth Pix," Jason muttered most likely rolling his eyes at Batman.

"Yet you still love me."

"Of course. When B injects the antidote, there's a chance you'll experience some pain. Don't worry though. I got you."

"Three. Two. One," Batman counted down before sticking the needle in my neck.

"Ahh!!" I screamed. I felt the liquid enter my bloodstream quickly spreading like fire. "What the hell is in this thing? This hurts way more than that stupid toxin did," I spit out before collapsing in Jason's arms.

Since the whole Scarecrow situation is now wrapped up, there will actually be more romantic Jasonette. No more fearing for each other's lives. Well for now...

I also want to make sure that everyone knows that Adrien and Marinette's relationship is totally platonic. His jealousy comes from feeling like he's no longer needed and will be pushed to the side destined to be forgotten. The I love yous are the type you say to your siblings or best friends. I don't want anyone thinking Adrien secretly has feelings for Marinette.
