Chapter 6 - This Team... I Can't Describe It...

The squad was gathered up on a rooftop that Ibiki had made them go to. Sitting in a line was Shin, Akai, then Akito in that order. Ibiki was standing in front of them with his arms crossed in front of him as he stared down at them.

"Hello squad 11. My name is Ibiki Morino, and I will be your sensei. I suppose that we should start with introductions, so I will go first. As I previously said, my name is Ibiki Morino. I am the head of Konoha's Torture and Interrogarion Sector. I excel in interrogating, torturing and gathering information. I don't put up with brats easily." Ibiki said, his eyes glaring towards Akai, but all this did was cause a large smile to form across of her lips.

"That's all you need to know about me. Pinky, you go first." Ibiki finished, and he glanced at Shin. The boy rolled his eyes at him slightly before he pushed a few strains of his pink hair out of his eyes.

"My name is Shin Haruno. My twin is Sakura, but I'm not too fond of that. I'm good with standard ninja tools, but I would like to learn how to use swords. I'm not that great with my chakra though. That's it I guess." Shin said, rolling his eyes slightly and pushing his pink hair out of his face once again.

Akai chuckled. "What kind of boy has pink hair, eh, tashikani?"

The said boy hit her arm, glaring at her.

"Akai, shut up or I'll sell those little treasures of yours."

"Why so grumpy, Scarface?" Akai taunted, "Angry that I drank your sake?"

Ibiki grunted, and turned his gaze to Akito. "Next. The blonde one."

The boy sighed. "I'm Akito Naokaze. I have no family, and I live alone. I know how to use swords, although I'm not really good at it. I have pretty good chakra control, and I think I'm a sensory type. I want to learn medical ninjutsu, though. I prefer silence, and I hate talking."

Akai tried to hold back her snickers, and succeed when Ibiki snapped at her, telling her to introduce herself.

"My name is Akai. Last name classified." At this Ibiki's eyes slightly widen, before glaring at her, "I'm 12. I was a traveler, a thief. And I wish I still am. I hate the fact that now I'm a shinobi. The rest are secrets."

Ibiki crossed his arms. "What about your chakra stock, those senbons and jutsus, plus your dagger and your speed?"

Akai laughed. "As I said, it runs through my blood! And you won't find out who my families are anytime soon, tashikani!" She cheered, grinning mischievously at her sensei.

"... Tashikani?" Akito wondered outloud.

Akai's eyes widen, as she slammed her palm on her mouth. "Damn it, tashikani!"

The blonde starts laughing. "I can't believe you were a thief!" He said.

"Really? I can't believe you have about 100 ryō in your wallet." Akai smugly replied, as she peeked inside the wallet she was holding.

Akito's eyes widened slightly as he began to try to grab the wallet out of the girls hand. "Give me that back!" The silent kid said, but Akai just stuck her tongue out at him. Ibiki began to gain an irk mark on his forehead, but he just watched the scene unfold.

Shin glanced over at Akai who was holding the wallet above her head. He rolled his eyes slightly and grabbed the wallet from above her head, holding it firmly in his hand.

"Hey!" Akai screamed at the pink haired boy, but Shin just tossed the wallet back to Akito. Akito caught the wallet in mid air and gave Shin a grateful look.

"Alright that's enough." Ibiki said, glaring down at Akai. The girl crossed her arms over her chest and glared at the larger man, earning a small snicker from her teammates. "That's all we have to do today, but I want the three of you to go out and get to know each other more in depth. And before any of you begin to complain-" Ibiki said as he looked at Akai who had her mouth slightly agape and her finger up as if she was going to protest.

"-This is your first training exercise. Teamwork is vital, and without getting along it'll never work. But Akito, Shin, you two need to keep and eye on the blue haired brat-"

"Hey!" Akai shouted at him, but he just ignored her.

"Because it is very likely that she will attempt to steal, and I have things to do at my actual job. So you guys will be watching her." Ibiki finished, and he watched as his students stood up from where they were -Akai being the last one- and nodded at their sensei.

"Hai!" Two of the three yelled at him, and Akai glanced back and forth between the two with a confused look on her face.

"You guys are weird, tashikani.." Akai muttered as the three of them began to travel down the building, walking towards downtown Konoha.

The three entered a small dango shop. As they sat down, Shin turned at Akai.

"You're the one who joined Academy not long ago, right?"

Akai raised an eyebrow, nodding. "Correction. Forced to join, tashikani." She muttered. Akito bursted out laughing again.

"Why do you always say 'tashikani' in almost every sentence?! It's just so funny!"

Shin looked at Akito weirdly. "And that can bring the silent lonely Akito out of his emotionless shell. Amazing."

"What the hell?! 'Silent-lonely-Akito'?!"

This time Akai laughed. "Aww... Lonely? You okay, sweetie?"

Akito's eyes twitched. "You don't use that 'tashikani' when you're mocking me. Nice." He muttered sarcastically.

Akai grinned, as she took a bite of her dango, "So what are we going to do now?"

Shin shrugged. "Ibiki-sensei said that we should know each other better, right? Why don't we talk about, like... our family?"

His two teammates gave him a flat look.

"What?!"

"Then start talking." Akito replied with a sigh.

"Okay," he said with a smile, "I have a little twin sister, her name is Sakura. I hate Sasuke because he took most of her attention away." He muttered the last part, "But I won't kill him. Sakura would obliterate me. Anyways, I live with Sakura and my parents not far from the Academy." Shin finished, before he motioned Akito to start his own introduction.

"Akito Naokaze. My parents weren't shinobis. They were killed by a burglar who broke into our house when I was 5. My big brother is now an ANBU, and he's hardly at home. So I mostly stay alone in my house. That's all, I guess."

Akai, surprisingly, snickered. Akito sent her a cold glare, growling slightly.

"Wow. And that's why you act like a depressed, lovesick teenager. Cool, tashikani."

Shin's eyes widened. "That's just rude, Akai! I think you shouldn't laugh at something like that!"

The girl scoffed, as she pulled out a senbon and starts playing with it. "I guess it's my turn now, huh?" She asked playfully, smirking. Before her teammates can reply, she already started.

"As you know, I'm Akai. My last name is very well known, and feared, around the shinobi world. I won't tell you though. I had been living as a thief for years, travelling while at the same time trying to avoid and find someone. My family... I have 5 people that I called that. One is dead, two were killed, one was kidnapped, and the last one..." She trailed off, narrowing her eyes.

"He left me." She stated, her voice somehow became cold, full of hatred.

"He just left me. All alone." She continued, glancing at the dango that had been placed in front of her, her fist balling up around the senbon needle she had in her hand.

"How long have you been alone?" Shin asked out of the blue, getting an angry glare from Akito.

"Longer than I can remember." Akai said quietly, slight sadness overtaking her voice. She really didn't remember how long it had been, she couldn't remember how long it had been since she had a real friend, a true relationship or someone to lean on. It has always just been Akai. Akai and no one else.

"I'm sorry." Shin said quietly as he placed his hand on her back lightly. Akai flinched from the contact between the two, but she slowly eased into it. He patted her back gently before dropping his arm back down to his side.

"Well, we're teammates now. So I guess that means you're stuck with us right?" Shin said with a smile, and Akai glanced back and forth between the two boys before she nodded slightly.

"I guess I am, tashikani." She said softly, giving them the smallest of a smile. The three of them finished eating their dangos, and slowly they all left the shop.

Akai walked back towards Ibiki house, her mind on the two boys on her team. Her new... friends? She thinks that's the word she would use for them. That's the only logical one. It still felt foreign on her tongue... friends.

When she got home, Ibiki wasn't there. She assumed he was still doing whatever it was he said he had to do before the team went out. So with a shrug of her shoulders, she walked back to her room and closed the door behind her. Throwing herself on the bed, she closed her eyes and began to think back to her family.

That was the first time in years she had actually opened up about her past. About how awfully she grew up, practically raising herself. And she hated her family for that. She hated him for that.

But even if she tried, she couldn't forget the good memories that they had. The fun they did have, and the good times of being protected that she would never ever forget.

And she couldn't say she didn't miss him, because that would be a lie in itself. Akai sighed heavily, a single tear falling down her face as she fell asleep waiting for Ibiki to come home.

| * | * | * | * | * |

Ibiki let out a sigh as he entered the house. It was dark already, and it feels strange for him. He felt worried about the 3 brats he called students.

He had read all their backgrounds.  Shin has a normal life. Twin little sister, alive parents.

While Akito had his parents killed, now just living with his ANBU big brother.

He presumed that Akai is also an orphan. That's all about her background.

After Ibiki put down the files he brought from the T&I sector, he walked towards Akai's room and opened the door.

She's already asleep.

Ibiki narrowed his eyes, as he approached the bed. He did not fail to notice that she was crying in her sleep.

Suddenly, Akai turned, now her back facing him.

"Leave." She stated coldly, her voice a bit hoarse.

"Were you crying?" He asked back, curious.

"Just. Leave."

Ibiki sighed, and left.

He really needs to ask Shin and Akito about this.

Ibiki walked back towards the living room, and grabbed his note, adding a few more sentences about Akai.

| * | * | * | * | * |

Akai washed her face, before she grabbed her towel and wiped the water away. Kami, how much she hates water. Cold water.

She stared at the mirror. When is the last time she saw her own reflection? She doesn't remember.

She narrowed her eyes. Her grey eyes had bags under them, although that's almost unnoticeable. There's a few scratches on her face.

Akai sighed, before she untied her hair, letting the short blue strands fell. Her hair had reached her shoulder, and It was very messy, so much that her hair almost covered her face. Akai shook her head disapprovingly at her own appearance, before tying her hair back into their usual ponytails.

"I really looked different, compared to them all." She muttered, referring to her old family, "Whatever. That damn Scarface won't be able to guess who are they."

She exited the bathroom, not even bothered to greet Ibiki. She's still mad about the previous night's incident. It's not his fault, but she's still annoyed at him.

And she hated the fact that he saw her in tears. He saw her weakness. Knowing him, he wouldn't simply just let it go. He will find a way to reveal her secret.

And that terrified her. What if he found out who she really was? Would he tell other people? Would he make her leave, or would he throw her in a prison?

Now, Akai couldn't tell you why she cared if he threw her out, since all she's done since she arrived was try to figure out ways to leave so she wouldn't have to be around them anymore. But something was slowly changing. She was starting to somewhat like Konoha. Maybe because here, she wasn't completely alone.

With a sigh, Akai turned and walked into the kitchen. Big mistake. Ibiki was standing by the stove with food cooking, and he glanced over at Akai as she walked inside the kitchen.

"Hey, brat." He said, and Akai walked passed him and opened the fridge, glancing around for something to eat. "Did you and the other two get to know each other yesterday?"

"Yeah, tashikani." Akai replied as she grab something random and started to eat it, still not looking at the interrogator, because she was still mad at him. How dare he come in her room and see her crying?

Ibiki sighed heavily as he looked down at the girl. "Akai, why were you crying last night?"

"Doesn't matter."

"It does. I've never seen you cry before. You're a tough girl with a tough personality, and I want to know what caused you to cry at all." He said, and the girl rolled her eyes.

"It's not of your business Scarface!"

Ibiki sighed heavily, allowing the conversation to drop. He wasn't sure why he cares so much because the girl cried. He didn't know why he was even showing that he somewhat cared about her, because he didn't. At least he didn't think he did.

"Go find your teammates, tell them to meet us at training grounds 33. Now." He said, and Akai rolled her eyes slightly but left the house to find Akito and Shin.

After many, MANY, wrong directions from villagers, the girl arrived at the Haruno house hold. She sighed heavily as she knocked on the door, and to her surprise, Shin was the one to open the door. She couldn't be happier that she didn't have to talk to his parents, she wasn't quite sure how to approach parents.

"Oh, hey Akai. Do you need something?"

"Ibiki said that we have to go one of the training grounds, but I forgot which one. So come on, let's go get Akito so we can try to find Ibiki." Akai replied. Shin nodded as he walked out of the door And the two of them began to walk around town together.

The two had walked around Konoha TWICE, and yet they haven't found their teammate.

"Why don't we ask for directions? I mean, even if we do this for ten times, we might not find him."

Akai scoffed. She stopped walking, and turned at Shin, who was behind her.

"No way in hell I'm doing that again. Because of that, I got lost this morning, walking around the village for five times just to find you."

"Hey, guys, morning! Don't start arguing in front of my house, you seemed like a crazy couple."

Akai turned, to see Akito smirking behind her.

"Eh?! This is your house?!"

Akito nodded. "Come inside. Let me put down these groceries, giving you guys proper breakfast, "

"Neat freak." Akai commented, as she entered Akito's room. The blonde laughed.

"Maybe I am, tashikani." He replied mockingly, grinning.

"Hey, it's not my fault! Don't do that! It's annoying, tashikani!"

Shin broke into a fit of laughter.

As the three finally calmed themselves down, Shin turned at Akai.

"By the way, Akai, sorry for asking, but were you crying?"

Akai's eyes slightly widened. "O-Of course not!"

"Lie." Akito replied, crossing his arms, "You were stuttering, and you didn't say 'tashikani' in your sentence."

Akai sighed. "Is it really that obvious?"

"No. But I can tell the difference. My sister often cries too, you know?"

Akai sat on the bed. "Yeah. I was. Case closed."

"No, Akai. Why? Tell us."

"You won't understand!" She exclaimed with a glare, which caused Shin to flinch, while Akito immediately looked away.

Seeing her teammates' reaction, Akai looked down. "Sorry. I didn't mean to yell." She muttered.

Akito patted her back. "It's fine. Now, where are we going to train?"

"Uh..."

Akito raised an eyebrow.

"I forgot." Akai replied with a sheepish grin. Her teammates let out a heavy sigh.
