Special Day

(A/N: All of you know that Windham Rotunda AKA Bray Wyatt AKA one of the most creative wrestlers in the history of the business just passed away a day ago.

I was really torn about doing this chapter after he passed, but I know that if I didn't, I would've gone insane. I'm actually really honored that I got to see him two times live, in 2013 on a Smackdown taping in Tampa and in 2019, when he attacked Mick Foley or someone at Raw Reunion as The Fiend, which also took place in Tampa.

I mean, now I'm getting a little emotional here.

Yeah, but Bray, we love you. We appreciate everything that you've done for the industry. You know, I had some tears and I was very shaken up when I heard the news, but lastly, I just wanna say that this chapter is dedicated to him.)

~With Kai; December, 18th, 2020~

Finally, after so long, Masami and I are finally getting married as it's taking place in Tokyo, her hometown, and to keep it traditional, we were having a Shinto wedding.

I know that it's very complex and very long to do, but being declared as husband and wife was going to be worth it.

Other than that, I really wanted this to be the best day of her life and my life. I loved Masami for so long and it's finally happening.

We reserved a chapel in Tokyo 7 months beforehand and we even had to pay for a marriage license back in June, on the fifth, making sure we had it down as well. The process of registering for marriage was proof for identification, driver's license, and international passport as we needed Minoru and Kaori to be the witnesses.

Next, we had to use our family registry to prove that we're looking to get married and then our birth certificates, and that was it for getting our marriage license.

Basically, everything we did was one step ahead, and I really wanted to see this wedding because if we didn't, me proposing to was all for nothing.

I really looked forward to getting married to Masami. She's the one girl I will ever be with until I'm dead.

After getting permission by Hunter to take a three weeks off from NXT TV, Masami and I had landed in Tokyo to prepare ourselves for our special day.

I really couldn't wait to be married, as this was one of the best memories of my life.

~The Next Day~

Minoru and I decided to spend some time together and have that father son relationship improve, you know? I really wanted to celebrate the last day before I get married, so working at his shop and doing whatever I wanted to do at night was going to be the one thing that mattered.

Minoru actually didn't care what it was I wanted to do, but he knows that it's a special time for me and had to make sure that I had fun before I'm committed in marriage.

What we did first was selling some clothing and souvenirs in his shop in Yokohama, where I was selling some of my own Suzuki-Gun merch and just needed to sell them so I can give Masami something that she would remember.

A couple of customers came in, surprised to see me here as a couple and their kid were so happy to see me.

I offered them a picture with their son as I learned they were huge fans of mine. They even told me that when I won the NXT Championship, which I'm still holding, they completely lost their minds.

I was really humbled by all of it as Minoru took a pic with the youngster, but I was really endeared by how it came out:

I'm really impressed that Suzuki can be someone that can kill a child inside the ring and outside of it, he's the exact opposite.

After some time selling some shirts and some stuff, Minoru and I went out to a Yatai (street food stall) and had a lot of fun, but the thing is, he paid for whatever I wanted.

Like, he really didn't have to do that, especially when I'm getting married the next day!

I tried to convince him to let me buy my own food, but I just let him go at it. I mean, Minoru may be my father figure, but at the end of the day, I gotta pay for my own stuff too, you know?

What I had was basically Tonkotsu (pork) Ramen and when I took a slurp of the noodles and the broth, I was home.

Whenever I was home sick from school, this was the soup that helped me get back to 100%. Sure, I would resort to instant ramen sometimes, but when I wanted the real thing, a Yatai would be around the corner from my parents' house.

Minoru ordered pork ramen as well and I didn't protest at all because it looked so delicious!

We even celebrated my last day as a single man and I really looked forward to tomorrow.

~1:30 PM~

(A/N: I recommend playing the song that I chose for this chapter in a little bit. I'll let you know when.)

Our wedding was today and it was taking place at Meiji Jingu Shrine, the most famous shrine in all of Japan. It's very traditional that Masami and I had to make sure that we didn't fuck up anything that could disrespect our home country!

We had no groomsmen or anything like that as the closest person we call family is Minoru, my father figure and mentor, who brought along my fellow Suzuki-Gun members, Zack Sabre Jr, Taichi, Takao, and my old friend Lance Archer.

I even had to dress in a formal kimono, to show that I'm the groom as Masami does the same to show that she's my bride.

I know it's Captain Obvious, but I wanted to remind myself that Japanese weddings are usually very different than western weddings.

How did I dress? Well...

I think I dressed pretty good.

For my side, we brought Kaori, Oshiro (my brother-in-law), and Kana, my sister-in-law, who was such a cutie when she first saw us getting engaged at the HoF ceremony and she was so happy, she cried!

For Masami's side, she brought her sister Mio, her husband Tank Nagai, and their three year old daughter.

I had the greater number in my side of the family, but fuck that, it didn't matter because it wasn't wasn't about just Masami and I being brought together, it was our two families together as one.

As Masami and I finally met again, she looked absolutely stunning.

I couldn't even believe how much happiness it caused me to see her this happy in her life.

Masami looked like she wanted to cry and I couldn't blame her as I was feeling the same.

She kept smiling as I did the same, making sure that we didn't embarrass ourselves.

It was quite a walk for us to get to the shrine, but we made it regardless as the shrine maiden led us there.

Once at the shrine, Masami's side of the family went one way and my side went to the other.

It was the moment we've been waiting for, ever since we've gotten engaged back in April.

(A/N: Play the song now.)

My family and Masami's family had been purified as we had to kneel down on both knees, being respectful to everyone, including the priest declared us to be married as he was reading a marriage ritual prayer, also declaring that we were a union and promising happiness together.

After that, we sipped sake out of three different cups, called "San-San-Kudo", translating to "three three nine", meaning we drank sake nine times in three cups, showing our purity.

After sipping the sake nine times, eighteen combined the two of us, a dance was done by the Shinto maidens as an offering to the gods to receive a blessing for Masami and I.

As it was done a couple minutes later, we were told to say our vows.

I went first, saying...

(This woman, I marry
No matter what the health situation is
I will love this person
Respect this person
Console this person
Help this person
Until death
Protecting fidelity
I swear.)

And Masami had said...

Masami:
(This man, I marry
No matter what the health situation is
I will love this person
Respect this person
Console this person
Help this person
Until death
Protecting fidelity
I swear.)

And then we were asked this question, one at a time...

(Bride, Masami Odate, you marry this man and become his partner. Will you in peaceful times, during sickness, this person love, this person respect, this person comfort, this person help, until death, do you promise to fulfil?)

(Yes, I promise.)

(Groom, Kai Hosako, you marry this woman and become her partner. Will you in peaceful times, during sickness, this person love, this person respect, this person comfort, this person help, until death, do you promise to fulfil?)

It all came down to this.

I know that once I say yes, there's no turning back, but I didn't care.

I love Masami and I would do anything for her. She paid me in kindness and loyalty, now it's time for me to return the favor from 40 to 50 years.

(Yes, I promise.)

When I said yes, I felt the entire world lifted off my shoulders. I was happy to be the husband of a beautiful girl, named Masami Odate, better known as Io Shirai.

Once I said yes, the two of us bring in a Tamagushi, which is this...

...and we brought each one to the altar, clapped twice, and bowed one more time to show our gratitude.

We finally exchanged our rings...

...and everyone we had as our families drank the wine with three sips, symbolizing that we are now one family.

After the that ritual, we bowed to the priest, and we were congratulated by our families and bowed to our gods as well, the same with the Suzuki-Gun members and Minoru Suzuki.

He had a tear down his face with a smile, looking proud at what I have achieved in my life.

At our less formal reception, we had a blast as many of our friends and family celebrated our marriage as Masami and I did the same.

Thing is, we had to dress into other clothes as Masami had to dress in a different kimono...

...while I had to stay in the same one!

But still, seeing Masami so happy made me smile as I really loved seeing her like this.

We were given at least 10,000¥ (70 USD) to cover our after party costs from every one of our friends and family, but Minoru went even bigger, he gave us 50,000¥ (340 USD), of his own money!

(Minoru, you didn't have to.)

(I wanna see you two get started. Congratulations on your marriage.)

He hugged the both of us as we still continued to be the new Mr. and Mrs. Hosako.

Little did I know, the happiness would soon fade after a couple years.

(A/N: Before we could end this chapter, just know that I did research of Japanese weddings and there are Shinto weddings and Christian style weddings as well. From what I read, Christian style weddings are more relaxed and romantic than Shinto weddings that are more complex and very time consuming.

Long story short, there was no process on how Christian style weddings work and Japan, forcing me to do a fucking Shinto wedding that cramped my fingers from all the typing!

The thing is, I wanted everything to be as accurate and authentic as possible, and with the Shinto wedding that I was forced to do, I hated writing it, but I only did it so I can be done with this story and I can move on from it.

Obviously, I'm not gonna disrespect Japan as it's a very awesome country and I love its culture and whatnot, but just know that I won't be writing this style of a wedding ever again since it was that hard for me to do for this chapter.

Anyway, I wanna say sorry for the rant and whatever as I really have to finish this book so I can move on from it.

Now, without further ado, I give you the two part finale of "Red Is For Love"!)
