It was August 18th. The wedding day. I smiled happily at Makino. She smoothed out her dress nervously.

"Oh, I'm so nervous. What if something goes wrong? What if Shanks changes his mind?" She worried. I grabbed her hands. She looked at me and I smiled at her.

"Trust me, Makino. Dad won't change his mind. Not about you. And Aoi and everyone has taken every measure to make sure nothing goes wrong. Today is going to be perfect." I promised. She smiled at me and pulled me in to a hug.

"You look beautiful." I said. I heard a knock at the door. I opened the door to Makino's dressing room and in walked Yatsumi. Yatsumi had been a hired fashion consultant for finding Makino's dress and all the bridesmaids dresses.

"Alrighty, let's see." Yatsumi sang as she entered. She was wearing a simple purple dress and her usual black goth boots. She grinned upon seeing Makino.

"Absolutely beautiful." She said. I smiled and looked at the time.

"It's almost time to start. I'm going to go check on Dad." I said and left Yatsumi to making a few final adjustments with Makino.

I walked down the hall and around the corner to where Dad's dressing room was. Just as I was about to knock, the door opened, revealing uncle Mihawk.

"There you are. You might want to have a word wth your father before he makes a mess of himself." He said. I giggled and nodded.

"I'll take it from here, Uncle Mihawk." I said with a smile. He smirked at me and then went to take his position for the walk. Uncle Mihawk was Dad's best man, and Makino had asked Me to be her maid of honor.

3rd person POV

Shanks stood before the mirror and adjusted his tie and hair. He was sweating nervously. There was a knock at the door.

"Y-yes?" He called out. The door open and Aisuru walked in, wearing her maid of honor dress. Shanks stopped and stared at his daughter in shock.

"Hi, Daddy." She said. Shanks blinked.

"Hi, baby girl. You look beautiful." He said. Aisuru smiled.

"Wait until you see Makino." She said with a bright smile. Shanks smiled nervously.

"Don't be nervous, Daddy. Just as I told Makino a few minutes ago, today is going to be perfect." She said. She walked over to him and hugged him, looking at them in the mirror.

"You look very handsome, Daddy." She said. Shanks smiled at his daughter. He softly kissed her head.

"Thank you, baby girl. I love you." He said.

"I love you, too, Daddy." She said. There was a light knock on the door. The two turned and their eyes widened in surprise.

"Mom?"

"Hope?"

Hope smiled awkwardly. She was wearing a simple blue dress.

"Hi." She said awkwardly. The three of them stood. Hope cleared her throat.

"Aisuru, shouldn't you be getting in position?" Hope asked. Aisuru looked at the time.

"Is it that time already?!" She asked. She popped up and kissed Shanks on the cheek.

"Time to go, Daddy. Everything will be perfect." She said and darted out the room. Shanks stared at Hope.

"I'm surprised you came." He said.

"I was going to wait until after the ceremony, but I heard Mihawk telling Benn you were freaking yourself out and decided to come see you." She said. They stood there in silence until Hope sighed.

"Stop messing with your suit, Shanks, you're going to wrinkle it." Hope walked over and adjusted his tie. She then scowled at his hair.

"And don't mess with your hair! You want to look nice for your bride, not like you just ran all the way here from your house!" She scolded, fixing his hair.

"There. Much better. Now you're ready to get married." She said with a smile. Shanks smiled.

"Thanks, Hope." He said. She motioned with her head to the door.

"Go. They're waiting for you." She said. He smiled and nodded. He walked towards the door.

"Wish me luck." He said. Hope smiled.

"You won't need it." She said and left to return to her seat.

Shanks took his position and counted off in front of him. It was his way of calming his nerves.

At the front of the line was Luffy and Aoi, behind them was Benn and Dawn, and behind them was Mihawk and Aisuru. Behind them was Shanks. Once Shanks got to the alter, that's when Makino would come out.

The music started and they began the wedding march. Shanks was starting to get nervous again. Aisuru looked back at him and gave him a bright, reassuring smile. That was all it took for Shanks to calm down.

Aisuru turned back around and took her uncle's arm and they started down the isle. Shanks imagined himself in Mihawk's place and instead of a red dress, Aisuru wearing a white one. He cringed. He wasn't ready for that.

Finally, Shanks took his turn walking down the isle. He stood at the alter at long last. His eyes were glued to the doors where Makino would soon appear.

The music to signal the bride started. The doors opened and Shanks felt his heart stop entirely. His breath caught in his throat when he saw her.

"Wow." He breathed, finally finding his words. To both Makino and Shanks, her walk to the alter felt like forever. Finally, Makino reached the alter. She passed her bouquet off to Aisuru and Shanks took her hands in his. He couldn't take his eyes off of her. She was so beautiful.

After they exchanged their vows, it came time for the most important words that Shanks would ever say in his life. Yes, it was his second time saying them. Yes, this time to a different woman. But this time? This time he wasn't going to lose her.

"Do you, Shanks LeRoux take Makino to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in poverty and in wealth for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do."

"Do you, Makino, take Shanks LeRoux to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in poverty and in wealth for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do."

"Then by the power vested in me, by god and by the Grandline, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Shanks raised Makino's veil and leaned in, pressing his lips against hers in their first kiss as husband and wife. To them, the rest of the world disappeared and it was just the two of them. Finally, they pulled away.

"I now introduce Mr. And Mrs. Shanks LeRoux."
