Something Special
Aisuru hummed to herself as she met her friends at the fountain after school. Luffy grinned at her as she approached. He leapt up from his spot and ran over to her to grab her hand and walk back to the group with her.
"They're so cute together." Ki said with a chuckle.
"Awww." Nami cooed. She lifted her phone and took a picture of the two.
"Aaaaand it's on instagram. LufAi is officially official!" Nami hummed happily. Aisuru giggled at her friends as she and Luffy took their seat on the fountain.
"Hey, are you doing anything later, Ai-chan?" Luffy asked.
"Oh, Dad said that he and Makino have a surprise for me at home. So I can't hang out today." She said. Luffy pouted.
"Aw. I wanted to go to a movie with you." Luffy pouted, resting his chin on her shoulder. She giggled at him.
"Maybe tomorrow. You could come with me, you know. To see my surprise." She said. Luffy grinned brightly.
"Really, can I?" He asked. Aisuru nodded happily. He let out a cheer. Aisuru giggled happily at him.
"Seems like Luffy's gotten more affectionate." Nami said.
"Well, all of his friends are in relationships and his older brother is married. Maybe he learned a thing or two from watching us." Sanji said. Nami smiled.
"Good!" She said.
The last hour past quickly, then Luffy walked home with Aisuru, Ki and Zoro. Zoro said that since her parents weren't home and his parents were fighting again, he was staying the night with Ki.
Luffy and Aisuru walked in the door to Aisuru's house.
"Daddy? I'm home!" Aisuru called out.
"We're in the lounge!" Shanks called back. Taking Luffy's hand, Aisuru walked in to the lounge. Shanks and Makino stood there with bright grins on their faces.
"You said that you wanted to show me something?" She asked. Shanks's grin only grew brighter.
"Aisuru, sweetie, you've done so well since comeing here. You've become more confident and less shy and I'm so proud of you." Shanks said. Aisuru smiled and blushed.
"Thank you, daddy." She said.
"And, I want to see you continue to grow like that, especially with things that make you happy." Shanks said.
"Your father and I came together on this because I also wanted to give you something special for your fourth month here." Makino said. Shanks reached inside the movie cabinet.
"Close your eyes. And no peaking!" Shanks said. Aisuru closed her eyes halfway.
"I said no peaking! Luffy, help me out?" Shanks asked. Luffy covered Aisuru's eyes, making her giggle.
"Alright, ready?" Shanks asked. Aisuru nodded.
"Aaaaand, open!" Shanks said. Luffy's hands fell to Aisuru's shoulders and the red head's golden eyes popped open. She gasped in surprise.
Sitting in front of her, in a black case with two little foxes on the lid, was a beautiful adult sized violin.
She covered her mouth in surprise.
"It's... it's so beautiful." She said. She reached out and gently touched the neck of the instrument.
"Is it really mine?" She asked.
"Of course it is!" Shanks said with a laugh.
"You can play violin, Ai-chan? That's so cool!" Luffy said. Makino smiled.
"Well, what are you waiting for? Play something!" She encouraged. Shanks, Makino and Luffy all sat on the couch and waited for Aisuru to play. She lifted the instrument and played a few notes, just to test it out.
"Beautiful." Makino hummed softly. Aisuru smiled and began to play an actual song. Song of the Caged Bird by Lindsey Stirling.

The three on the couch watched in amazement, but the one most captivated was Luffy. His eyes were glued to his girlfriend, watching as she played. She wasn't trying to dance as she played like Lindsey Stirling, she was focusing more on the music. She would miss a note every now and then as she was still learning, but in Luffy's ears, it was the most beautiful thing he had ever heard in his life. And watching her, his chest felt tight and it was hard to breath. She took his breath away.
Aisuru lowered her instrument and safely put it in her case. The first to react was Luffy. He jumped up.
"That was amazing, Ai-chan!" He said, his eyes sparkling. Aisuru blushed.
"N-no. It wasn't that good." She said. Luffy pulled her to his chest in a tight hug.
"It was beautiful. Just like you." He said. Aisuru's heart skipped ten beats as Shanks and Makino cooed at them. She blushed and hid her face in his chest. He chuckled at her.
"It really was beautiful, Aisuru." Makino said. Aisuru shook her head.
"I messed up a few times." She said softly. Shanks rubbed her back.
"Only because you're learning, baby girl. But it really was beautiful." Shanks said. Aisuru peaked out at them.
"You really mean it?" She asked.
"Of course." Shanks said. He kissed her head and she smiled at him. Luffy grinned down at her as she smiled back up at him.
"Hey, Ai-chan! You'll come over and play for Ace, Aoi, Sabo and I sometime, right?" He asked with his dark brown eyes glittering with hope and excitement. Aisuru nodded in agreement. Luffy let out a happy cheer.
Suddenly, there was a flash of lightning and a loud boom of thunder. Aisuru let out a scream and buried her face in Luffy's chest as the lights flickered. Luffy tightened his grip on her in surprise.
"Hey, it's okay. You're okay." Luffy said to her, stroking her hair.
"Ah, shit, I forgot about the giant thunderstorm that's supposed to last all weekend." Shanks said.
"It's terrible out there." Makino said as she peered out the window. Luffy's phone rang.
"Hey, Ace." Luffy answered, putting his phone on speaker.
"Luffy? Where the hell are you?" Ace asked.
"I'm down the hill, at Shanks and Ai-chan's house. I'm okay, Ace." Luffy said.
"Damn it, Luffy, I told you to come straight home tonight!" Ace said. He sounded worried. The man let out a sigh.
"Stay there, I'll come get you." He said.
"Hell no you will not!" Shanks snapped. "Ace, it is pouring out there! If you come down that hill, the odds of you hydroplaning are 5 to 1!" The older man said.
"Shanks, my old man is coming to check on us tomorrow morning, if I don't have Luffy here with us, he is going to take Luffy back to his place." Ace said. Luffy frowned.
"That's a bad thing?" Shanks asked.
"I'd be the only one. I'm the youngest. All my big brothers and sisters are out on their own." Luffy said. Makino sighed.
"Ace, you stay there. I'll drive Luffy up the hill to you." Makino said.
"Are you sure, Makino? You live across town." Ace said.
"There's not much of a choice, Ace. You can't come down here and Luffy needs to get back up there. Odds are by the time we get up there all roads back to my place will be closed, so I hope you don't mind me staying with you for tonight." Makino said. Ace sighed.
"Alright. Thanks, Makino. I owe you one." He said.
"We'll be there soon. And calm Sabo down, I can hear him pacing." Makino said. Luffy hung up his phone and slid it in to his pocket. Aisuru still clung to him.
"Hey, it's okay, Ai-chan." He said softly to her.
"I hate the lightning." She said weakly. Luffy gently rubbed her hair.
"It's okay. We're safe. Don't cry. Everything is okay." He promised. He leaned back a bit so he could hold her cheeks and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. He gently wiped away her tears.
"Will you smile for me, Ai-chan? I like it when you smile." He asked softly. Aisuru forced a smile to her face. Luffy hummed, then tickled her, she let out a surprised squeal and began to laugh.
"That's better." He said.
"Luffy, come on. We've gotta get you home before your brothers freak out even more." Makino called. Luffy frowned, but planted a kiss on Aisuru's cheek before heading over.
"I'll text you when I get home. I promise." He said. Aisuru nodded.
"Be safe." She said softly. He grinned at her and took the coat that Shanks was letting him borrow.
"Call me when you get settled in. I want to know that you're safe." Shanks said. Makino nodded and popped up on her toes to kiss Shanks before she and Luffy made a run for her blue Niisan Rogue. Aisuru and Shanks watched from the door as the rain poured down.
The two made it to the car and drove off. Shanks shut the door before they both could catch a cold. Aisuru stared out the window with her hands shaking.
Lightning struck again and Aisuru let out a scream. She leapt in to her father's arms and held on to him tightly.
"Daddy, I'm scared." She cried. Shanks hushed her and stroked her hair.
"It's okay, princess. Daddy's here." He said. He scooped her up and carried her over to the couch, sitting down beside her. He rubbed her shoulder to try to get her to calm down.
"It's okay." He said, kissing her head. Her phone buzzed and she pulled it up, looking at the text. It was a picture of Luffy as Aoi hugged him, making a funny face at the camera. In the back ground, Sabo was talking to Makino as she smiled brightly.
We're okay
Was all the message said. Shanks sighed in relief.
"Let's get to bed. This storm will be gone in the morning." He said. Aisuru nodded and went to change in to her pajamas before crawling in bed. She lied in bed. Watching the window. She knew Shanks was already asleep, he could sleep in any situation.
Lightning struck and the power went out. Fighting back tears, Aisuru leapt from her bed and went to Shanks's room. She pushed open the door and was met with his snore. She reach out and shook him.
"Daddy. Daddy, wake up." She said. She heard Shanks shift slightly as he woke up.
"Hm? Aisuru? What's wrong?" He asked.
"The power.... can... can I stay with you tonight?" She asked weakly. Shanks shifted over and raised the covers.
"Come here, baby girl." He said. Aisuru crawled in and cuddled up to her father. Shanks held her close and played with her hair until she fell asleep.
