Group Date

I woke up on Saturday morning to Luffy cuddling me. I smiled at his sleeping face. I placed my elbow on my pillow and rested my cheek on my hand, stroking his cheek with my free hand.

He had stayed the night because a bad storm started the night before. Ace had called and told him not to leave so he stayed the night. Dad was against letting him stay in my room. It took a lot of convincing, but he gave in. I had cuddled with Luffy while the storm raged on outside. He was just like dad. He could sleep in any condition.

Slowly, Luffy began to stir. His eyes slipped open and his sleepy gaze met mine. I smiled at him, resting my hand on his cheek.

"Good morning." I hummed to him. He smiled and pulled me closer, burying his face in my neck and shoulder.

"Not yet..." he groaned softly. I giggled and ran my fingers through his hair.

"Come on, or we'll miss breakfast." I said. It seemed that those were the magic words, because Luffy sprang up out of bed and ran out to the kitchen where Makino was making breakfast

"LUFFY, WHY ARE YOU IN YOUR UNDERWEAR?!" I heard Dad yell. I giggled and got up, grabbing my clothes for the day and heading to the bathroom, grabbing a towel on my way. Dad came running around the corner.

"Something wrong, Daddy?" I asked.

"Tell me you at least used protection." He groaned, I stared at him. Then I noticed the strap of the tank top I slept in had fallen down.

"We didn't even do anything, Dad." I said. He stared at me with doubt in his eyes.

"Luffy was asleep before I even got in bed." I said. Dad let out a breath of relief. I giggled and nudged him.

"You don't need to worry about us, Daddy. You know Luffy wouldn't." I said. He pulled me in to a hug.

"I know. It's just a Dad thing." He said. I giggled and kissed his cheek.

"I'm gonna get a shower now." I said. Dad kissed my head then headed back down for breakfast.

I walked in to the bathroom and started up the shower. I stripped myself of my night clothes and stepped in when the water was warm enough. I sighed as the water washed down my body.

"It all feels like a dream. Hono is actually gone. I don't have to be constantly checking over my shoulder to see if someone is coming after me to drag me back to him. I'm finally free of him." I smiled happily as I rinsed the shampoo from my hair.

Most of the cuts on my back had faded, only slight evidence they were ever there. I could wear tank tops again, but anything backless would be out of the question for the rest of my life. But.... I'm okay with that. My boyfriend loves me, disregarding the scars. My father, my friends, Makino... they all loved me, disregarding my scars. Mom still had trouble looking at me, but we'll get there, right?

I finished cleaning myself and stepped out of the shower, drying off and dressing myself before joining my family and boyfriend for dinner.

Time skip

I grinned happily. Smoothing out the folds of my dress. It was finally time and I was so excited. I was wearing my ballerina dress and some brown boots.

Next to me, on my left, sat Luffy. He wore a dark red dress shirt and a black tie. He looked really cute. I gave him the promise ring when Ace dropped him off. He was wearing it now and I wore my matching one.

To my right sat Dawn and Uncle Mihawk. Dawn wore a simple dark blue dress and black boots that came up to her knees. Uncle Mihawk wore a white dressshirt and a black tie, his arm was around Dawn's shoulders.

Beside them and across the table from me and Luffy, sat Dad and Makino. Makino wore a simple red dress and Dad wore a red dress shirt and black tie. Dad had a goofy grin on his face.

Everyone at the table knew what was really going on with the exception of two. Luffy had no idea and Makino was clueless, of course. I smiled at Dad happily. Dawn had a knowing smirk on her face and Uncle Mihawk retained his usual blank face, but I could see ammusement in his eyes.

Finally, after we all finished eating and we were sitting there, talking. Luffy was laughing at something Dawn had said. Uncle Mihawk was staring down at her with a loving gaze. Dawn merely retained her smirk as she spoke about a few odd cases she had in the past. Makino's attention was on Dawn, Dad was staring at Makino with loving eyes.

Dad looked over at me and I gave the signal. I grabbed Luffy's hand and gently ran my thumb over his promise ring then smiled up at him. That was the signal. Luffy unknowingly helped by dipping his head to kiss my nose and making me giggle.

Dad cleared his throat and shifted in his seat. All attention was on him. I could tell by the sweat on his brow that he was anxious.

"Shanks, is everything okay?" Makino asked, looking up at him. He smiled and kissed her forehead.

"Everything is fine, love." He said in a gentle tone. I smiled brightly as Dad grabbed her hands.

"Actually, now that I think about it, there's something I need to ask you." He said, staring in to her eyes. I felt excitement bubbling up inside me. I saw Dawn sneakily pull out her phone and stare to record, a mischievous half-grin on her face.

"Shanks?" Makino asked.

"Makino, ever since they day I met you, you have always been so kind and loving. Your smile is something I could never, ever tire of. The same goes for your laugh, your voice, everything about you in general. And, when I got Aisuru back, you've helped me with her. Every moment that I've doubted myself, you've been right there, encouraging me and supporting me. I've been thinking about this for a long time, and seeing you with Aisuru and the way you two get along and seeing how much you love her, I am 100% sure of this. I love you, Makino, with all of my heart." Dad said. Makino stared at him with wide eyes and a soft blush on her cheeks. I held on to Luffy's hand and a bright grin was glued on my face.

"Say yes, say yes, say yes." I prayed silently in my mind as I watched as Dad lowered himself on to one knee, pulling the ring box from his pocket, still holding Makino's left hand. He opened the box and Makino's hand flew to her mouth as she gasped.

"Makino, will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?" He asked. I held my breath, my internal two word prayer intensifying as my heart began to race, hope filling my heart.

"Oh, Shanks! Yes! Yes, I will!" Makino cried, falling out of the seat and in to Dad's arms. Dad stood, kissing her as he slid the ring on to her finger. Other tables that had turned their heads when Dad took a knee applauded with our table.

"I love you." Dad said to Makino.

"I love you." Makino replied. I slid out of my seat and hugged them both.

"I love both of you!" I said happily. They laughed and pulled me in to a hug. I nuzzled Makino's cheek and smiled brightly.

Finally.
