Closer and Closer
"Awww! He's so cute! What's his name?" Nami asked as I showed the pictures of Kai to our group.
"His name is Kai." I said. Ki grinned.
"How cute!" She said. I smiled and nodded.
"Little Kai LeRoux." Nami said. She grinned.
I sighed softly.
"Hm? Is something wrong, Aisuru?" Nami asked. I shook my head.
"It's just... The end of the year is fast approaching... There's not much time left..." I said. Everyone looked around at each other.
"Wow, you're right." Nami said.
"I didn't even realize how close it was." Sanji said. We all looked around at each other again.
"Well, there's no point being all down in the dumps about it. We've got to make as much as we can out of it." Zoro said. I smiled softly as I thought about it.
"Zoro's right! Let's make the most out of everything we can!" Luffy said.
"Whoa, Hey, Luffy, is this picture of you holding the baby?" Usopp asked. I giggled.
"Yup! When the nurses allowed him and Sabo in, the first thing out of Luffy's mouth was "can I hold him?" It was so cute!" I giggled. Luffy whined and buried his face in my neck.
"Ai-chan!" He whined in embarrassment. I gigged and kissed his head.
Time Skip
I sat on my couch at home. Makino was rocking Kai next to me as I looked at layout pictures of the send off party. Dad was watching NCIS... Well, he was listening to NCIS. He was watching Makino and Kai. Kai was sleeping soundly.
Suddenly, the news interrupted the show on TV.
"We interrupt this program to bring you breaking news. A disaster has struck as a semi truck has apparently rammed a car out side of the Whitebeard Industries Talent Agency. It is unknown who was driving the truck or who was in the car, but paramedics and police officers have flooded the scene." The reporter said. I looked up and my eyes widened as they showed a picture of the crash.
That car... The license plate... the location...
"Oh my god." Makino gasped as I felt my whole body go cold.
"That's..." I wanted to vomit and cry.
"That's Ace's car." I said with a shaking voice.
I leaped from my seat and ran out to door, not even bothering to put on shoes or even a jacket. I ran as fast as my legs would carry me up the hill, my eyes set on finding that familiar scene, praying that the worse hadn't happened. I reached the house I was searching for and pushed past the gates and ran to the door. I pounded my fist against the painted oak wood of the door, praying that a familiar pair of eyes would be waiting for me behind the door.
"Please please please please..." I whimpered under my breath. The door opened and I felt my heart drop.
"Aisuru..." Sabo said as he stared at me with worried eyes.
"I saw the news cast and got worried." I said. Sabo lead me inside.
"Where are your shoes?" He asked.
"Who cares?" I asked. He lead me in to the lounge where Yue, Luffy and -to my relief- Aoi stood. Their eyes were glued to the television. Aoi's hands were on her stomach where hers and Ace's baby grew. Tears were filling her jade eyes and were on the brink of spilling. Yue sat on the couch, her hands clasped tightly together, her lips moving in a silent prayer. And Luffy?
It seemed almost as if he was frozen in time. One hand was up, holding his phone like he had been looking at something on his phone when he saw the news cast. It seemed like he wasn't breathing and unless he was blinking at the exact same second I was, he wasn't blinking. I was afraid to touch him in case he would shatter like glass and the mess afterwards would be just as hazardous to clean up. I merely stood beside him instead.
Sabo took his seat beside Yue and pulled her in to his arms. She held on to his arm, her lips still moving in prayer. It seemed almost as if she wasn't blinking either. Tears were now streaming down Aoi's face. I held my breath, praying that by some miracle that Ace was alive.
"Paramedics have confirmed the driver of the semi truck to be dead. The Crime Scene Investigators have confirmed this to be an accident. As for the driver of the car, we have yet to have word of the identity or status of the driver." The reporter said. We waited with baited breath. I felt like Aoi needed me by her more than Luffy did, so I shifted over to her and waited. I grabbed her hand and she held it tight.
"Ace, please... Don't do this to me." I heard her whisper.
"The paramedics have called it... both drivers are dead."
"NO!" Aoi screamed. She fell to her knees. I dropped beside her and held her. She began to sob in to my chest.
"No! Oh my god, no! Please! Ace! ACE!" She screamed. I closed my eyes and cried with her.
"A-Ace..." I heard Luffy whimper. The phone began to ring. Yue stood to answer it as Sabo held Luffy against his chest, the brothers crying.
"This is the Portgas- What?!" I heard Yue say.
"Aoi! Aoi! It's Ace! He's okay! He's alive! He wasn't in the car!" Yue yelled. Aoi's head snapped up.
"What?!" She cried. I pulled Aoi to the couch as Sabo did the same to Luffy. Yue pressed speaker on the phone.
"Ace?" Aoi asked with a shaking voice, still holding my hands.
"It's alright, Aoi. I wasn't in the car. It seems that Teach had an elaborate plan to steal my car and well... I guess he wasn't planning on a semi truck to blast him while he was making his grand escape." He said. I released my breath of relief. Ace was alright.
"Ace... Don't scare me like that..." Aoi cried.
"I'm sorry, love. I probably scared the hell of of Sabo and Luffy, huh?" He asked.
"Where are you?" Aoi asked.
"I'm at the hospital." He said.
"What?! Why?!" She asked in a panic.
"Shh, shh, calm down, I'm alright. I slipped on a wet spot on the stairs and broke my leg. It's nothing serious." He said. Aoi squeezed my hands. I rested my head on her shoulder.
"Ace, I'm going to kill you! Stop scaring me and the baby! And Sabo! And your child!" Aoi snapped. I repressed a giggle when I realized that when Aoi said "the baby" she meant Luffy.
After that, Aoi, Sabo and Luffy went to get Ace from the hospital. I woke up the next morning to a call from Luffy.
"Luffy? Is everything okay?" I asked as I answered.
"Can we walk to school today? Just me and you?" He asked. I blinked.
"Sure, Luffy." I said.

RT_Strawhat_Ninja: SHIT! FUCK, WHAT THE HELL?!
Person: YOU LEAVE US HANGING FOR A MONTH AND THIS IS WHAT YOU GIVE US?! BAD AUTHOR! BAD!
RT_Strawhat_Ninja: Okay, 1.) I am still a college student and finals are rapidly approaching, 2.) FFXV is still wrecking me, 3.) BockMotherclucker introduced me to Dragon Age: Inquisition 4.).... I know.... but, I am working more on the sequel to this story, but, for the time being, I'm going to be focusing more on school (like always) and when that's done and I'm not hunting for a job, I will return and be cranking out chapters as well as the sequel and some new stories that I've been intending to release for a while *cough cough Yatsumi cough cough*
And yes, I do have more FFXV stories coming. And I also have some Dragon Age: Inquisition oneshots in the works, but IDK if I'll release them. If you like Dragon Age: Inquisition and want to see my Inquisitor make Cullen extremely uncomfortable in a modern day setting while her older brother (one of BockMotherclucker's many inquisitors) screams in horror at his little sister's actions, let me know (BockMotherclucker, you are not aloud to as you are the root of this)
Well, I'll see you all soon if Finals (and finding a new job) don't kill me first!
