Broken Heart

Aisuru's POV

I wasn't surprised that Law wanted Aka with him, but when he asked Luffy and I to come with him, I was shocked. I was friends with Law, but I didn't know him that well.

"Law! Aka!" We heard.

"Mom! Dad!" Law called, running over to a woman with light brown hair and a tall man that looked like Law with lighter skin and no tattoos.

"Please, tell me she's alright! Please say she's going to live!" He begged his parents. I could see tears building in his eyes.

"This is so unnerving." I whispered.

"I've never seen Traffie like this." Luffy said.

"Law is really close with his little sister, Lami. They're like best friends. Lami is a sophomore like you. She was in the music club. I thought that it was odd she wasn't at the showcase. But Law told me that his parents were taking her to a water park because she was top in science this year. Law didn't want to go because he isn't fond of water." Aka explained to us. She was staring at Law, tears in her eyes.

"I thought her name sounded familiar. I did a duet with her at the second concert. She played the flute." I said. I frowned.

"Lami was very sweet." Luffy said. A doctor walked out of the room. He wore a sad look when Law turned on him.

"Is she alright? She's going to be okay, isn't she?" Law asked desperately. The doctor sighed.

"I'm sorry, her injuries are too severe. There is nothing I can do for her." He said. Law became furious.

"Liar! You're a doctor! It's your job to save lives! So do your damn job and save my sister!" Law yelled. A woman that looked like a paler Aka with her purple hair up in a bun stepped out of the same room. She put a gentle hand on Law's shoulder. Law stared at her.

"Rosa." Law's mother said.

"Dr. Donqiuxote?" His father asked.

"Mom." Aka whispered. I stared at her in shock.

"That's your mother?" I asked. She nodded.

"Mom is one of the head surgeons here along with Law's parents. They call her the best." Aka whispered.

"Law, I'm so sorry, honey. I did everything I could, but the most I could do was give her a few extra hours. She keeps asking for you, Aka and someone named Aisuru." The doctor said.

"Aisuru is right here, Mom." Aka said, pointing to me. She nodded.

"Go on in. She's waiting for you three." She said. Aka took my hand.

"I'll wait here for you." Luffy told me. We walked in to the room and I felt my heart stop when I saw Lami.

She was so torn up and bloodied. I wanted to cry. The beautiful and sweet girl that I had shared a stage with not so long ago was now dying right in front of me.

"Lami! Lami, come on! Stay with me!" Law said, falling to his knees by her bed.

"Big Brother?" She weakly asked. My heart tore again. Her voice that had once sounded so melodious and beautiful now sounded strangled, raspy and weak. It didn't fit the girl I had known.

"Where's Aka? Could they find Aisuru?" She asked. Aka and I shakily stepped forward.

"We- w-w-we-" Aka stopped to cover her mouth, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"W-we're here, Lami-chan." I said. Lami smiled weakly.

"Hi, guys. Sorry you had to see me like this... But I didn't want to go with out saying goodbye." Lami said.

"Don't say that, Lami! You're not going to die!" Law said, tears were streaming down his face and I felt mine push over, too. Aka was a sobbing mess beside me, her hands pressed firmly over her mouth.

"Aka-nii. Don't cry. It's okay... I know I don't have much time left... So I need you three to listen to me." Lami said. I nodded.

"Law... You can't give up, okay? Promise me you'll go to college and become the great surgeon you always wanted to be. Please don't give up." She said. Law held his little sister's hand tightly kissing it every so often.

"I will... I will, I promise." He cried.

"Aka... Go be a photographer, but take care of Law for me. You know he's never going to admit it, but he needs you. Especially now. Don't let him push you away. You have to be there for him. Promise me you'll take care of him." Lami said. Aka fell to her knees, grabbing Lami's other hand.

"I will... I will... I promise, I will." She sobbed.

"Aisuru-chan? I know that it's going to be hard... especially with them leaving for college so soon... But I know that you can do it. You always find away to work things out. Don't let these two fall apart, okay?" She asked. I swallowed the sob building in my throat.

"I'm only asking you this because you three are the closest friends I've ever had. And since I can't be here to help Law and Aka anymore, I need you to help them, Aisuru-chan. Please?" She asked. I choked back a sob, but answered.

"You can count on me, Lami-chan." I said. She smiled.

"Thank you, Aisuru-chan. I know they can be difficult at times. But just hold on, okay?" She asked. I nodded.

"I promise." I said.

"Law... Aka... I love you... You better get married..." She said. Law held on to her hand.

"You'll be there, won't you? Lami?" Law cried.

"I'll always be there... I love you..." She said.

"I love you, too, Lami." Law cried. The heart monitor stopped beeping as Lami's last breath passed her lips.

"Lami? No. No! NO! DON'T DO THIS! DON'T GO! LAMI!" Law screamed. He stood and wrapped his arms around his little sister's body, holding her to his chest and sobbing loudly. Begging her to come back. His face buried in her messy light brown hair. Aka sobbed with him, holding tight to her hand.

Unable to take it anymore, I turned around and left the room, tears streaming down my face as I bit back my own sobs.

"Ai-chan?" Luffy asked as I left the room. I raised my head as doctors rushed past me in to the room.

"She's gone." I said with a shaking voice. Law's parents ran in to the room. After they were past me, I heard their heartbroken wails joining Law's and Aka's. I bit my lip, trying my best not to break down. I needed to stay strong for Law and Aka.

"Aisuru." Luffy said softly. I looked at him. He opened his arms to me and I broke. I ran in to his arms and sobbed my heart out.

I didn't know her well, but I knew her well enough.

My friend was gone.
