A Day Out With Makino
Aisuru's POV
"So, what are you looking for again?" Makino asked me as we looked through a jewelry shop.
"I want to get a promise ring for Luffy. I don't want it to be too fancy, but I don't want it to be just plain and boring either. It's gotta be fun and cute. Like him." I said with a smile. Makino giggled at me and kissed my head.
"You are such a sweet heart." She said. I smiled at her. I noticed her eyes going over to the engagement rings. I smiled softly to myself.
"Hey, Aisuru, I know this isn't a promise ring, but look at this." She said. I looked at the ring her eyes had locked on to. I gasped when I saw it.
"It's beautiful." I said. She nodded, her eyes not leaving it.
"Would you like to try it on, miss?" The store clerk asked her. Her head snapped up.
"Wh-what? Oh, n-no thank you." She said. I giggled.
"Go on, Makino. It wouldn't hurt." I said. She looked at me. I smiled at her.
"But we're here for-"
"Trying on just one won't hurt. Besides, neither of us work tonight." I said. She smiled and nodded at the store clerk. He pulled it out of the case and let Makino try it on.
"It's a little big." She said.
"Well, it's a size eight ring. You have slender fingers, I'd guess you're size six or seven." He said. He pulled out a ring sizer.
"Yup, you're a size seven." He said. She nodded.
"Good to know." She giggled softly.
"I can check to see if there are any your size." He said. Makino shook her head.
"No, it's okay. Thank you for letting me try it on." She said. She went back over to the promise rings.
"She seemed to like it." I giggled and nodded.
"Mind if I take a picture to send to my dad?" I whispered. He grinned at me.
"That was the plan, right?" He asked. I nodded and took a picture. Yes, I knew the store clerk. He was Xavier from Music club. He knew exactly why Makino and I were there.
After I took the picture, I rejoined Makino at the promise rings.
"So, it's a promise ring you're looking for?" Xavier asked. I nodded.
"For me and my boyfriend." I said. Xavier nodded, already knowing Luffy's ring size since Aoi had apparently dragged him in here yesterday to look at wedding rings for the two of us. Ace told me about it this morning. He said that he had to keep reminding her that we were still in high school.
Aoi is too precious some times.
In the end, I decided to get a ring that had an infinity symbol that had both mine and Luffy's names engraved on it.
"We'll send them to your address as soon as the engravings are finished. I just need your ring size." Xavier said. I gladly let him measure my finger and turns out that I'm also a size seven.
"Alright, thank you." I said as I paid for the rings. Makino and I walked out of the shop and to the near by park.
"You seemed to know that young clerk." Makino said.
"Hm? Oh, yeah. He's in Music club with me." I said with a smile. She stared at me.
"You're awfully smiley today, Aisuru. Did something happen?" She asked. I smiled at her brightly.
"Just had a really good dream is all." I said. She giggled.
"Really? Tell me about it." She said. I grinned brightly at her. Time to throw her for a loop.
"I dreamed that you married Dad and became my new Mom." I said. She stopped in her tracks and stared at me with wide eyes, a bright blush overtaking her face.
"What? You really dreamed that?" She asked. I smiled and nodded. She let out a nervous laugh.
"Well, it's sweet that makes you so happy, but I don't think your father and I are quite at that stage yet." She said. I frowned.
"So if Dad proposed you'd say no?" I asked.
"What? No, of course I'd say yes. I would love to marry him, it's just..." She trailed off.
"You're worried about Mom." I said. She looked at me. I sighed.
"You don't need to worry about my Mom coming back for Dad. She basically hates him now. If you had seen how furious she was at the court case just because Dad was there, I think you'd be more worried about-"
"Her taking you back." She cut me off. I gave her a wide eyed stare.
"I saw how bad your father got when Hope first kept you from him. He was a mess. I'm always worried that one day she's going to show up and take you away again. I know that Dawn would stop that from happening, but there's always loopholes." She sighed. She looked back up at me with a soft smile.
"Plus, I don't want you to leave either. I've kinda already started seeing you as mine." She said. I hugged her. She hugged me back.
"You have no idea how happy that makes me." I said softly. She giggled at me.
"Do you think I'd be a good mother, Aisuru?" She asked. I grinned up at her.
"You'd be the best mom in the world. I love you, Makino." I said. She smiled happily down at me.
"I love you, too, sweetie." She said and kissed my head. I giggled and hugged her again. She laughed and patted my head.
Shanks's POV
I stared at the picture Aisuru had sent me. I smiled softly at the ring.
"It's perfect." I murmured to myself. I looked up at pictures on the wall. I had basically stuffed the pictures of Hope away in a drawer somewhere after the divorce had been finalized. But all of the pictures of Aisuru as she grew up I left where I could see them.
I smiled at one of the baby pictures of her. I had been trying to get her down for a nap. When I finally did, I also had fallen asleep with her sound asleep on my chest. I smiled at the picture. My baby girl was all grown up now.
"I hope that you and Luffy don't end up like Hope and I, Aisuru. You're too precious for such a thing." I murmured to the picture. I looked at the next picture. It was Aisuru's seventh birthday in that picture. I smiled at how cute she looked in her little red dress, holding tight to her teddy bear. She was smiling up at the camera with her cute little golden eyes sparkling happily. I smiled at the picture.
I looked at the most recent picture. It was taken on Christmas by Ace. Makino, Aisuru and I all were sitting on the couch together. I was laughing. Probably at something Luffy had done behind Ace. Makino and Aisuru were giggling to each other. I sighed softly and smiled at the picture.
My family.
