The story begins when Angela and Brandon were about fourteen. She is meeting the prince after four years.

"Your highness, wake up, guests are waiting." my maid said.
"What? It's like two A.M. in the morning." I replied groggily.
"Its only six. Hurry up, I think it is Prince Brandon." she responded.
"Uhh... who...........um, wh-at....okay, I am coming." I stuttered.
All my dreams vanished as soon as Brandon's name was spoken. I lifted my massive body from the mattress. Instantly the warmth disappeared. I looked up at the mirror to see my bird nest hair.
"Princess Angela! He is waiting!" she yelled from the bathroom.
A dress was thrown on the bed and Mary stood beside it helping me to the bathroom.
Under eight minutes, I got out of the shower, used the bathroom, and brushed by Mary's help.
She can do the impossible by screeching and screaming at me,
"He is going to leave."
Her fake talks made me hyper at six in the morning.
While she was cleaning my mess, I tried to get dressed before she could yell at me.
I forced myself to get up and changed to a casual strapless dress with white upper part and a lavender skirt. Around my waist was a dark purple ribbon belt and made a bow on my back.
It was the first time seeing Brandon dressed up and I really wanted to look good.
"Your Highness! You are looking gorgeous! Let me do your hair." my maid Mary said.
Her hands fluttered to my hair and she made my hair fall down into light curls.
When I turned to the mirror, I saw a girl with light brown hair with brown eyes. It always looked the same. The girl had a pretty purple dress with a tiny frown on her face. Mary was staring at me intently the whole time while I was looking at the mirror.
"Now all you need is this." she said, putting her fingers on both corners of my lips. She raised them.
"There, now you are perfect." she said smiling genuinely.
"Thanks Mary," I said.
She rose and escorted me through the halls. This hall was painted with white roses and French windows. She stopped holding me behind the double wooden doors.
"Good luck Princess Angela." Mary said gently.
I simply nodded and opened one of the gigantic double doors.
I took a deep breath.
There is no need to get nervous. Relax, he is your childhood friend.
I kept my head up and shoulders back and opened the door.
Their stood Prince Brandon in all white; with golden buttons and blond hair and ocean blue eyes.
Why would he be interested in me? He has the looks.
Well obviously he is your closest friend.
I stood for a moment enviously watching Brandon laughing with my mother. Queen Amelia. The laughter that escaped his lips stopped as soon as he saw me.
I must be really ugly or the complete opposite of what he expected.
He was staring up and down at my gown and my eyes. The blue hue in his eyes was turning sapphire.
"Good morning Prince Brandon." I said.
He stiffened. I could not blame him.
"Good morning Princess Angela. You are looking very pretty today." he replied.
I blushed. It was awfully sweet for him to compliment me.
After all, he is my best friend.
"Err, uh.... thank you. Your...y-you are looking handsome as well." I stammered.
Horrible Angela, what's wrong with your speech?
He smirked at me. At first, I was surprised, but again this isn't the prince I knew. It was my childhood best friend.
I glowered.
My mom coughed, interrupting our silent messages.
"Angela and Brandon dears, please come join for the Portal Ceremony." my mother said apprehensively. She turned and walked toward the scariest part of the whole room.
I was tempted to open my mouth and say what are we doing? But Princesses do not do that. My mother said a hundred times to make sure I don't do it on this day. And I was forced to keep my mouth shut so I don't say anything embarrassing, in front of my mother, not the prince. Note the sarcasm.
He saw me uneasily scuffle toward my mom, so he looped his arm around mine.
"Thanks girly." I said giggling.
"No problem mister," he said smiling.
It brought memories of me and him laughing at people's names and how we also changed our genders once.
It was good to know he was still the Brandon I knew when I was small.
He stifled his laugh as we approached a mirror. It gave me the goosebumps when I was little and its presence still made me cower. It was a grand mirror and I never seen it exposed in my whole life.
The whole mirror was a rectangle which you could step in and displayed random images of what people most desired. Right now it was showing my amethyst crown.
Of course, the people in the castle would want it.
I started to sigh. It was useless understanding the mirror. The mirror was bordered with a rusted gold. It was confusing because gold doesn't rust.
"Now Angela touch the mirror with a clear mind." my mother murmured.
I suddenly was afraid of it. The mirror looked like it was laughing at me. I looked at her with fear and surprise.
She simply nodded at me to continue with a strange expression on her face.
It was an old, creepy, Bloody Mary type of mirror that I was going to touch.
Except I heard the Bloody Mary part in my brain.
Strange....
I shut my eyes and disentangled myself from Brandon. His comforting warmth was gone from my right arm and it was anxiously cold.
Then I reached out and touched the mirror with my fingertips.
