Steven was thoroughly enjoying himself. After a long but entertaining night, out on the beach with Red, he kicked himself as he laid in bed. He still didn't know her name. But to be honest, he wasn't too bummed about it. He just didn't want Red to think he didn't want to know. He liked having a little thing between them.
Even though he had chosen the room farthest from Ross, he could still hear him cutting logs. It was making it hard to get anywhere close to falling asleep. With a groan, Steven rolled out of bed, reaching for his light jacket but remembered he had given it to Red once they left the water and took a stroll around the cabins.
He looked down at his hand and recalled what it felt like to hold hers in it. So small and warm. A perfect fit. As silently as he could, Steven made his way out of the cabin and onto the deck, looking out over the water. A small smile played on his lips as he thought back to his and Red's conversation on the water.
Steven made a silent vow to make sure she was never alone with Tay again. He could tell she was tired and just wanted to be left alone. Hopefully, his help won't be an annoyance to her. Bats flitted by, calling out into the night. Movement to his left made him glance over. A female figure moved across the back deck of the woman's cabin, the sound of a chair scraping the wood floor echoed as she sat.
Steven smiled as her hair got caught in the light of the full moon. Red.
He leaned against the railing and just watched as she relaxed in the chair. He wondered what she was thinking. He itched to go over there and sit by her, taking her hand in his. Reaching over to tuck hair behind her ear. Smelling her vanilla perfume. Watching her blue eyes flit around as her mind worked. Place a soft kiss on her cupid bow lips.
Steven shook his head. What was he thinking? He just met her, not exactly a wise decision to imagine kissing her. With one more look in her direction, Steven stretched his arms and took a deep breath. Tomorrow was the wedding and the trip to the *Temple. Then the three party days. If she didn't hate him by then maybe he can follow through with those thoughts of his.
*To put it SUPER simply, LDS couples do have a ring/civil marriage that anyone can attend but in an LDS Temple, the couple becomes spiritually married for all time and eternity. Only specific people can attend the Temple portion of the wedding, always LDS members. But, from experience, you can wait outside the temple for the couple :) Feel free to ask if any of you have questions!
