Chapter 3 - "The Tale of Clara Oswald..."

'So how was it?' The Scottish voice announced as soon as the door to the shared flat opened.

'It was fine' Clara hummed with a shrug. 'Actually it was great except for one bastard teacher' she scoffed.

'Oh deer. Making enemy's on day one isn't a good thing' Amy said rolling her eyes.

'He's made the enemy of me. I thought he was fine' she scoffed again angrily putting the kettle on.

'How about we go out?' Amy suggested earning a grunt from the other room. 'Shut up Rory'

'No. I'm not in the mood. It's not like I can even drink' she mumbled.

'And whose fault is that?' Rory yelled.

'Fuck off Rory'

'Don't swear at him' Amy sighed rolling her eyes.

'Why is he even here? Does he not have some nursing to be doing?'

'Day off mate. I'm here all night' Rory shouted through.

Clara didn't have a very good liking to Rory. He did her head in and vice Versa. Clara couldn't really say anything to Amy about him spending so much time here because she doesn't actually own the flat and is bunking in her spare room for free at the moment.

She had been for the last two months until this job came up and it was absolutely perfect. She just had to wait until the check came in.

It was safe to say that Clara had gotten herself into trouble in the last few months and made some decisions that she would never be able to change - but she was where she was now for a reason.

'Ignore him. Come on. We can go out'

'No we can't. I have a blood test at 7. And then a late scan at 9. I haven't got time to go out. Plus I have lessons to plan. I do t want to give John any amuntition to hate me any more than he does'

'Hmm. So this evil man has a name?' Amy snickered.

'I wouldn't say he's evil. But he isn't that nice and his son is in my bloody class. How's that for coincidence?' Clara growled.

'Okay. Well can I at least come to the scan with you? Moral support and everything?'

'We've got a booking at a restaurant. There's no way' Rory shouted in.

'No. you go out. I can deal with a scan on my own I'm sure' she sighed.

Driving around at night was not Clara's favourite thing to do.

Especially with her past and how she got into this mess in the first place. That was part of the reason she declined Amy's offer.

The last time she went out and about with Amy and got drunk she woke the next morning with a thumping headache and someone - god knows who in her bedroom.

She was so hungover that she didn't really get a full good look at him. Before she came back from the loo vomiting he was gone. She still couldn't remember who it was even now.

She was pretty sure that wasn't the guy that got her pregnant. She knew who got her pregnant and he was reason she had moved out of the town she used to be in. She had to quit her job quick and relocate.

Police keep a watchful eye on her now as part of a witness protection scheme. They check in with her once a month to make sure she's not being bothered or tracked.

That's part of the reason Amy took her in. At least then Amy knew what she was up too and she was being looked after by someone. In all fairness she was 23 so didn't actually need looking after but Amy felt obliged since Clara's Mum died two years ago and her dad became a raging alcoholic.

That's how it all started.

When Clara's Mum died her Dad did not take it well and became quite an abusive drunk. Clara didn't really realise until she was becoming under danger but there wasn't much the police could do about it - she was over 21 and was no longer a minor so social services couldn't exactly move her out. She was just given pointless leaflets and information about organisations that might help.

Amy let her move in with her back then as well until Clara was stupid enough to get herself into an abusive relationship and the long story short of it was that ended badly - in hospital and with child.

Since then she has been relocated several times until Amy finally allowed her to move in - much to Rory's dismay because as far as he was concerned - Clara was trouble.

She quickly parked up and made her way into the hospital going to the main reception where she knew they would give her directions to the maternity wing.

What Clara was stunned to see of course was  that John was here himself in A&E. She wondered why she found it so odd.

She would have gone and spoken to him if it wasn't for the fact that she very much hated him and didn't know him well enough to sit and have a chat with.

She did notice that a little girl was with him. One of whom she assumed was the daughter from earlier but she couldn't remember the name.

'Isla. Be a good girl and come and sit down'

'I want seep daddy' Isla scoffed climbing on his lap and trying to snuggle up to sleep. She couldn't of course because she was in terrible discomfort.

John was paranoid of course. He thought for sure she had broken her arm but thankfully it was just bruising in the end but Isla wasn't happy.

She had been playing with Henry even though John had out them both to bed when he heard a thump then a crash then crying and New if wasn't good.  That's the problem with them sharing a room. There's 4 years between them and Henry shouldn't have to go to bed so early because Isla does.

John looked up as the three year old snuggled up against him and could have swore that he saw Clara but as he blinked she was gone and was sure he was making it up.

He had only met her today and hated her for getting involved in the job but for some reason she was the fore front of his mind.
