Training

Everyone got to know Izuku, though he insisted to be referred to as "Deku." School was going smoothly and Izuku has started to warm up to everyone, and someone a little bit more in particular. Everyone in the class saw it but no one said anything about it, well at least not around them. Izuku refuses to eat lunch with anyone other than Todoroki, most of the time he would bring in kitty macrons which Todoroki would gladly accept; he normally "talks" with him in the morning (mostly them staring at each other awkwardly bc Izuku doesn't really talk), and other things, like group projects--straight to Todoroki's desk. Aizawa always feels irritated like the angry overprotective dad he is when Izuku sometimes clings to Todo's sleeve being nervous about something, but somehow he clams himself down. Normally he complains to Hizashi about it after school or at lunch.

The Aizawa family also has officially adopted Izuku, seeing as he had to parents. So, Hitoshi and Aizawa were his actual overprotective dad and brother. Hizashi normally encouraged him. Aizawa didn't like it, but it kept Izuku happy and the kid really did deserve to be happy, so he never complained... too much. To avoid confusion in having two dads, both Shinso and Izuku called one Dad and the other Papa. Dad is Aizawa and Papa is Hizashi, Hisashi claimed Papa sounds cooler than dad.

Shinso moved to the dorms at this point, Aizawa and Hizashi wanted to wait till Izuku was more stable till Izuku would also move into the dorms too.

The real reason Izuku was drawn automatically to Todoroki is because he noticed how broken he looked, Izuku knew that look well. The feeling, he wanted to help. Todoroki was probably this way from abuse, the only way Izuku knew that drove you to the feeling. The feeling of hollow pain, broken shards of your own heart tearing you up from the inside out. The only antidote was another person's care, so Izuku wanted to be the doctor.

"Ok class, get on your gym uniforms and head to the field. We're having another quirk apprehension test." Many murmurs went up.

"But Sensei, what about Deku-kun? Is he ok enough to participate?" Iida spoke up with authority like always.

"He has the option of joining or not." Izuku let out a mute giggle, just watch and learn.

In the locker room Izuku changed in a bathroom stall, self conscious about all the marks and scars on his body. He was one of the first one's out, walking out to see only Aizawa there.

"Izuku, are you going to participate?" Aizawa asked, slightly surprised and incredibly worried when he nodded enthusiastically. Aizawa did say he could join if he felt up to it, so he didn't disagree. "Ok then..."

Soon everyone else was out, waiting to start. "So this time, no one is getting expelled," a sigh of relief crossed over the eighteen students, remembering that one M*neta. "Same rules as last time too, but for our two new students, just follow along."

Izuku was watched carefully by everyone, and was doing way better than everyone expected. He did very well on the 50 meter dash, getting 6.51 seconds; for the grip strength, surprising everyone, he got 112‬ kilograms; the standing long jump test Izuku didn't do too well, getting the 17th lowest score for that; the sustained sideways jump he got pretty good, 7th top; and lastly the pitch throw.

Izuku was unsure how to go about this one, getting a 508.9 meter throw. He was content with that. His final score was surprisingly 11th out of everyone, Shinso got 9th, Todoroki was first and Bakugo second. Secretly, he actually didn't use all his effort in any of the tests, still shy to reuse the skill he was forced to learn by the people that took him.

Though, Izuku still looked like an excited puppy and jumped happily towards Todorkoi, making everyone want to just, **AWWWWWWWWWWWWW**. But no one did. Izuku couldn't help but notice that he refused to use his fire, that made him kinda upset, but he didn't show it. Todoroki excused himself back to the locker room, mostly to hide his flushed face that he hoped no one saw.

Mina got a picture. Who knows how.
We all secretly thank her anyway, well, at least Uraraka.

That afternoon after school got out, Aizawa decided to himself that since Izuku was actually stronger than he first thought that the class could have sparing practices. He paired up everyone; Denki and Mina, Aoyama and Uraraka, Koda and Jiro, Fumikage and Tsuyu, Sero and Bakugo, Toru and Shoji, Kirishima and Sato, Iida and Ojiro, Todoroki and Yaoyorozu, Izuku and Shinso. That should be fine.

So, the next day started off in that same explanation. Izuku changed in the bathroom stall again and was once again the first one out. There was a bored that displayed the matchups, Izuku frowned when he saw the last two.

He went over and tugged on Aizawa's sleeve. "Dad," Aizawa looked down, fully alert at his voice. "Matchups are bad." Aizawa learned how good he is with reading people, actually hoping to hear his opinion.

"Which ones?" Izuku pointed at Todoroki and Yaoyorozu's. "Why?" That one didn't seem wrong to him.

"Hmmm..." Izuku didn't want to go into a full blown explanation out loud, Aizawa knew at times this happens, so he normally carries a spare pen and paper around, he offered it to Izuku.

After a couple seconds of Izuku scribbling things down he handed it to his father, basically the paper read how Yaoyorozu's lacking confidence, putting her up against Todorkoi would only damage it more since Todoroki doesn't hold back much. Todoroki only uses his ice, not fire due to a personal experience Izuku can relate to, Izuku knew he could get through to Todorkoi if he fought him. Shinso should go up against Yaoyorozu, he knows from when Izuku made him read his notes that Yaoyorozu lacks confidence and he would know how to get it up easily.

Even though this made a lot of sense, Aizawa didn't want Izuku going up against his strongest student. "Izuku, you wouldn't win against Todorkoi, you saw from yesterday that he is the top strongest in the class..." Izuku, this disturbed him slightly, only smirked in reply. Aizawa knew from that look alone that it was better to do what Izuku wanted. **Sigh** "Fine..."

Izuku grinned and skipped off only to come back with Yaoyorozu, Todoroki, and Shinso in tow. Aizawa told them of the change with a grumble, seemingly pleasing Izuku. "Uh... isn't this change kinda, um, bad?" Was Shinso's nervous response once the three left.

"It's what your brother wanted..." Aizawa sounded sheepish, "He had that look to where I couldn't say no..."

"Your authority is weak." Shinso mumbled walking away with a smug smile. Aizawa just groaned and went to start up the rules.

"Ok, this is basically sparing. You and your partner will fight each other and exploit strengths and weaknesses. There is a surrounding square, if someone is knocked out of it that means you take a small break and stop fighting for a minute or two. Bakugo, please don't go over board." Sero was seen nodding in agreement, "Take a empty ring and start." And so they did.

"I don't know why he paired me with you, this really was stupid." Todoroki grumbled. Izuku only smiled, taking the other side of their small ring in a small fighting stance. Most of their classmates noticed the change in pairs, looking over at them. "Ok then.."

Todorkoi sent the first attack out, a smaller glacier of ice heading towards Izuku at alarming speeds. Izuku's smile turned into a teasing smirk and he side stepped, running rather close to the side of the ice with his head lowered and kicked Todoroki's chest, using it as a spring board to do a backflip landing on his feet successfully, sending him out of the ring just as fast as the match started.

Aizawa was dumbstruck, same as everyone else. What the hell was that.

Izuku came forward and held out a hand to Todorkoi, he smacked it away, momentarily pissed that he was able to get past his guard. Izuku frowned, but went back to his side of the ring. Todoroki tried again, with a bigger glacier and cut off a lot of Izuku's moving space, he repeated the same trick he'd run out of bounds. He also added a wall of ice around him, making it impossible for him to be kicked out again. This blocked of the view of his classmates and teacher. Izuku actually jumped on top of it, slipping down to the other side of the ring having much more space to move around with. Todoroki sneered, sending more ice to Izuku.

In a flash, he didn't even see him move, Izuku was right next to him. He slammed Todoroki right to his own ice by pushing his forearm against his chest. "You don't take me seriously, do you?" Izuku asked. This was the first time he heard Izuku's voice. There was something in his voice that didn't fit his normal nature, a dark and ominous tone. It was also louder than he normally spoke, but Todoroki didn't know that. "You'll die out in the real world if you keep that up."

Todoroki tried pushing him back, but Izuku's grip was strong. It's like a switch was flipped in the kid.

"It's your father's fault, isn't it?" Todoroki's eyes widened, did he know? "Since the moment I saw you, I recognized that look. It comes from abuse; so, it's Endeavor's fault, isn't it?" His grip loosened ever so slightly.

"I know how that feels, to have your own flesh and blood hurt you over and over again saying it's for a reason that doesn't even matter. I wanted to oppose every word he said, but would only get hurt more. You feel that way too, don't you?" Izuku didn't wait for a response. "That's why you don't listen to him, use all of your quirk, am I right?"

"I-" Todoroki didn't know how to respond. The world seemed to slow and suddenly he felt very, very mad. "Why should you care, you know nothing! Don't try and say you do, don't try to mettle with my life and figure me out." He screamed, pushing Izuku back onto the floor, though he made no move to try and attack again.

"I do know what that feels like, and," Izuku stood, still looking down at his feet, "I know I'm right about you."

"And what is there to me? Huh?" Todoroki growled. He didn't know why he was so mad, maybe it's because someone that just pushed there way into his life without even speaking could read him so easily and the first thing he says is something so personal.

"You're scared." Todorkoi flinched, his words started to get to him in ways he didn't like. "You're scared you'll be someone like your father. I am too, but I believe that I don't have to be like him, you don't."

Suddenly Izuku pushed Todoroki out of the way, basically trading him spots, "You don't have to be, you're your own person." His voice started to quite, it hurt from going to barely any talking, only few whispers here and there, to full blown speeches with slightly yelled words. "If you're rejecting half of yourself, showing you want to completely forget about your dad or whatever, y-you won't ever win." Izuku's voice cracked. "Win for yourself and not for your dad! That's the only way to ever be at peace with things around you, to be at peace with yourself... Your you're own person Todoroki! It's ok to be selfish and only use your fire for you, it is your power, isn't it?!"

Todoroki finally understood.

Anyone that wasn't in the ring heard and saw nothing, the only thing they saw was huge walls of ice and a eerie silence. Aizawa was worried, but when he saw a huge tornado of flames suddenly burst through and all the ice start quickly melting to reveal a slightly happy, and a slightly 'Oh shit' looking Izuku, he knew that Izuku got to do what he wanted to.

Todoroki could merely murmur, "Thank you... Izuku." Through his whirlwind of flames.

In that moment, he forgot about his father, only focusing on the adorable bean that apparently has a hidden side to him. His words echoed in his head, For yourself, not your dad...

That sounded wonderful.
