Briefly Blinded
A few days back, my schoolmate Karthiga texted me out of the blue asking me if I was dead because I seemed unavailable always. I told her about my crazy schedule but she wasn't ready to listen to anything, so I let it go. After I was able to free myself, I rang her up one day and we spent almost an hour catching up on all what we've missed for the past two years. We filled in each other of what had been happening in our lives. She also spoke of the unlikely friendship which had sprung between her and Alisha, one of our school friends.
Now, I was a bee at school collecting nectar from all the groups of flowers, never settling on just one. I had many friends in many friend circles. Alisha and Karthiga were two who ran in different circles and spoke only basic civilities to each other. So when Karthiga told me of their new found bond I was a bit suprised but later figured out that in the huge college campus, Karthiga had found solace in a familiar face from school. We winded up our conversation for the day. Two days rolled by before I received a text from an unknown number.
Oie
This sounded exactly like Alisha. 'Oie' was her favourite word back in school but still I wanted to make sure if it was her. Usually, whenever I receive a message from some unknown number, I check if they are in some text group with me because from the local school group to the international souls group, I have my foot in everything. I do get confused at times as to how I know certain people.
And so I looked it up and figured that that number wasn't there in any group. However, the strong gut feeling telling me it was Alisha was hard to ignore, so instead of blocking the number at the first message as usual, I sent a question.
Who is this?
Your mother-in-law...
The confidence in me that it was Alisha grew a bit more. That snarky reply definitely defined her.
I dont know who is my husband yet 🙄
😒😒
I have a son ! He earns 5lakhs /month in a software company .. !So marry him ! I would like to have you as my daughter-in-law 💙
Sorry. I'm not interested in rich guys. It's difficult to enter Jannah if we are rich. I'd rather prefer someone from middle class
Lovely thought
By then, I had grown impatient.
Seriously tell me who you are else Im blocking you!
Oh really 😒
I ignored the message.
Oie
I wanted a firm reply.
Who is this dude?
Alisha???
Alisha? Who is that?
Aren't you from school?
Then maybe college?
Seriously one exact min to tell me your name
Else Im blocking you
😒
What did i say you in d beginning?
I grew fed up and blocked the number. The person wasn't revealing himself/ herself and I had already spoken a lot mistaking it to be Alisha. Exactly two minutes later, Karthiga rang me up, yelling at me to unblock Alisha. I laughed to myself as I did it. My mother shot me a look as if I'd grown two horns.
I sent her a message.
Oi
I could practically imagine smoke coming out of her ears when she texted back...
Dog!
Oh! What a reunion!
******
Sorry Alisha but this was too juicy to ignore 😆😂
Has anything similiar happened to you? Comment away. I'd like to read your stories.
