Chapter 5 - The Underground (Part 2)

I slammed down another shot glass on the counter, and then I rubbed my eyes with my hands, trying to process everything.

"So let me get this straight. You're telling me that I'm an infamous thief & assassin known as "Shadow," and that my nickname was based off of my killing style?"

Christa nodded. "Basically, yes."

I shook my head, trying not to believe it. "There's no way. I can barely get my chores done at home, so what makes you think that a lazy person like me can complete a task as risk-taking as that?"

"Trust me, you're capable of doing many things." She walked from behind the counter. "Give it a while, you'll find out what you're capable of soon."

Mikasa got up, stretched her arms out, and sighed in annoyance. "I'm going to go look for Annie myself, because I'm tired of waiting."

"If something comes up, I'll let you know. Be safe out there you two."

Mikasa nodded at her, then started to walked towards the door until someone opened it.

A girl with short blonde hair, and a girl with reddish-brown hair walked in, and the girl with the reddish-brown hair & light brown eyes that I saw earlier, gasped.

"I told you that she was back Annie!"

She walked over to Mikasa, ignoring the other female that was with her. "I didn't think that you would come back after what happened to Ethan."

She rolled her eyes. "Well, I have no choice. I need to save Eren before something happens to him." Mikasa looked over at me. "And I managed to bring Shadow back this time. And she's... not herself, I should say."

"What do you mean?"

Mikasa called me over towards them, and I went to see what they needed.

"She was in a car accident and got put into a coma for six months, so she doesn't remember what happened in the past three years. We've been trying to get some of her memories back, but we haven't had the best luck."

"So you have no memory of what happened here?" Annie tilted her head towards me.

"Obviously not."

She sighed. "Well this is going to be hard." Then a smirk appeared on her face. "And a little interesting. C'mon, I got somewhere to get back to, and I think someone would be thrilled to see the two of you again."

"Who is it?" Mikasa asked as Annie started to walked towards the door.

"You find out when we get there." And then she started to walk away from the building.

"I've already seen Eyebrows earlier, so I-"

"No, we're not seeing him. I'm still mad at him for the time that he sent his group in my bar and they damaged the whole place." She said as if she was agitated by him.

"Why would he do that?" I asked.

"Well, he's the kind of person that likes to fuck with your head until you give him what he wants." She turned around to look at me. "But I don't give up that easily."

I raised an eyebrow. "What did you owe him? Money? Drugs?"

"He thinks that it was one of my people who injured a few of his gang members a while ago, so he wants revenge. They had it coming though. No one steals from me and gets away with it."

"Oh yeah! Who's that 'Ethan' person you mentioned earlier?"

"He's-"

"No one. It's not important, so don't worry about it." Mikasa quickly cut into the conversation, as if she didn't want to hear about it. Annie rolled her eyes at her, then continued walking.

I pulled my hood closer to my face, trying to keep warm. Why is it so cold down here? I looked up.

I forgot that there's not much sunlight going down here since it's by a train station.

Suddenly, I got pulled into an alley by a random person.

"HELP ME, I'M-" Before I could keep screaming for help, the person covered my mouth with their hand.

I was trying my best not to panic, but who could keep calm in situations like these?

As long as they didn't pull a gun out on me, then I would be okay.

Right after I told myself that, they pulled out a gun from their jacket and held it up to my head.

This is the second time this has happened to me, but the first time, someone was there to make sure that I wouldn't die, but I'm totally fucked now.

"I'd suggest that you keep your mouth shut if you want to stay alive." The person said in a low voice. It sounded familiar, but for some reason, I couldn't make out who it was.

I would've gave a smart remark, but I would've risked myself getting shot and killed instantly, so I nodded my head in agreement.

They grabbed my wrist and pulled me along as they walked in the other direction.

"Can I at least know where I'm going? Or at least why you decided to kidnap me?"

They kept walking, ignoring the two questions that I asked.

I sighed. Well this is going nowhere.
"Who the hell are you anyway?"

"Someone you should be delighted to see." The person said, sarcastically.

I quickly pulled down their hood and I saw a face that I thought I wasn't going to see for a while.

"Levi? What the hell are you doing?"

He smirked at me. "You really didn't think I was going to be down here?"

"Obviously not! And why the hell did you grab me like that? I should punch you for doing something that stupid," I said, angrily.

"You wouldn't do that, sweetheart." He started to walk off, and I quickly followed behind.

"For one, you can't tell me what I can and can't do. You're not my father. Secondly, don't you ever call me sweetheart!"

"Says the person that wanted me to call them by that nickname."

Scowling at him, I said, "I must've been really delusional if I told you to do something as weird as that."

He shrugged. "Possibly, but that isn't the case right now."

"You still haven't told me where the hell you were taking me!"

Levi covered my mouth. "Be quiet."

I moved his hand away. "I swear, I will bite your fucking hand if you-"

"Keep in mind that I still have a gun. I can shut you up that way if you don't do it yourself," he whispered to me, then continued walking.

I glared at him. "What turned you this way?"

It took him a while to answer, as if he was trying to find the right words to say. "This fucked up place that I call 'home'. I've been surrounded by danger my whole life, so it seems like it's the only lifestyle I know."

"It seems like it's more to it honestly."

He looked at me. "It is, but it's not like I'd tell you about it."

I raised an eyebrow. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Forget I ever mentioned it," Levi said while looking down at his footsteps as he walked.

"Well, I'm still trying to find Eren before something happens to him if you don't mind."

Levi pulled up his hood again. "He doesn't care about you, (Y/N)."

"And how do you know that?" I said. "I'm not going to fall for one of your stupid lies anymore. That's in the past, and I would like to keep it that way."

"Alright, don't believe me this time. But when it turns out that what I said was true, don't come crying to me."

"I'd rather die than go to you for comfort." I looked forward. "Where the hell are we?" Unlike all of the abandoned houses with broken windows I've seen earlier, this place was pretty well-built, but it wasn't as fancy as most of the houses in my neighborhood.

"I have someone I need to see." I was going to follow him inside, but he stopped me. "Stay out here, no matter what happens in there. And don't talk to anyone if they approach you."

"It's not like I could save you from danger even if I wanted to." I crossed my arms over my chest while giving him a sassy look. He rolled his eyes, then went inside the house.

I sat on the last step, then looked around, trying to take in the scenery around me. I couldn't imagine myself being here whatsoever.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't realize that a guy had sat down next to me. Eventually, I did come back to reality and I saw him staring at me with his light brown eyes.

I raised an eyebrow at him. "May I help you with something?"

"Actually, yeah, you can. Do you happen to know a guy that's around 5'3, has short, black hair, and can cause a whole lot of trouble?"

"Maybe. Who's asking?"

"The name's Lucas." He gave me a bright smile, which was...pretty sweet.

What am I saying?

But I didn't know whether to tell him my real name or my nickname that I was given when I was down here. He might try to kill me either way, but it's not like I have nothing to lose.

I gave him a small smile in return. "Shadow. So, why are you looking for him?"

"Let's say he's an old 'friend' of mine." Lucas gave a sly smirk, but it was quickly replaced with another smile.
"I need to talk to him about something. Is he inside?"

"Actually, he-" Before I could respond, Levi opened the door. I saw that he came out with scratches while holding a black bag. He looked over at Lucas, then glared at me.

"I thought I told you not to talk to anyone while I was in there?"

I scoffed. "Like I said earlier, you can't tell me what to do."

"Can you just- you know what? Never mind. I'll let you handle things on your own down here, Shadow." He turned back towards Lucas. "Why the hell are you back here? I thought I clearly told you to stay the hell away after you stole my money and almost burned down my uncle's house?"

Lucas got up and smirked at him. "I can't come by to see my dearest friend?"

"Save the bullshit, Lucas. I don't have the time nor the patience for it."

"So you finally decided to bring back your girlfriend?"

"We're not dating," the both of us said simultaneously.

Levi sighed. "It's not like you need to know about our relationship status anyway, but we're not dating. At least not anymore."

"Oh really?" He smiled at me once again. "How could you let a pretty lady like this get away that easily? You must've did something terribly wrong, Stryker." Lucas smirked at Levi after finishing that sentence.

He gave Lucas a glare. "It's not of your damn business, you idiot. Also, never use that name anymore, got that? That name's in the past-and not to mention, fucking ridiculous-and I'd like to keep it that way." He started to walk off, pulling me along with him. "You might want to go somewhere else before my uncle finds out you're out here and decides to finally kill you."

Lucas laughed. "C'mon now, holding grudges over little things like that? It's unlike him."

"You know nothing about my uncle Lucas, so just stop with that act."

"Are you sure about that? I mean, I know plenty of things about him, and many others, that you'd be surprised about."

"Fuck off." And with that, Levi pulled up his hood on his hoodie and started to walk off once again.

"(Y/N), wait!"

I looked at Lucas to see what he wanted. "Good luck trying to find him in time." He gave me a sly smile.

"What do you mean by that?"

Lucas walked away, humming a song, ignoring the question I asked.

"Uh...okay?" And with that, I walked off, following Levi.

As we walked, there was an awkward silence between us. Eventually, I started to speak again. "So, what's the deal with you and Lucas? He seems like a really nice, but weird, guy."

"Yeah? Well, he's not nice. Don't trust him."

I raised an eyebrow. "Why? He seems perfectly fine to me."

Levi shook his head. "If only you actually had those memories back, you'd know why."

"What did he do?"

That's when he fell silent again. "Levi? What the hell happened that involved Lucas?"

"Don't worry about that either. It's best if you didn't remember anyway." He seemed agitated as he spoke, so I left the conversation there.

Suddenly, I saw two people running towards the two of us, and when I finally noticed who they were, my eyes went wide.

"Mikasa? Annie?"

"(Y/N) what the hell? We turn our backs on you for one second, and then you get yourself kidnapped by this fucking dwarf," Mikasa said that last part while giving Levi a death glare.

He gave an irritated sigh. "Maybe you should keep an eye out for your group members, and shit like this wouldn't happen." A smirk appeared on his face, as if he thought of something mischievous. "I thought you would remember to do that since it constantly happened to Ethan."

"Don't you dare bring him into this!" I noticed that Mikasa's hands started to curl into fists while glaring at him once more. "Ethan has nothing to do with this, aright?"

"And why are you still defending him? It's not like he matters," Levi said.

"He may not matter to you, but he's very important to me. Unlike you, I'm not heartless." She said while Annie was holding her back.

"I'm not heartless. I'm just better at controlling my emotions better than you."

"Okay, look. We're never going to get nowhere if the both of you keep arguing like five year olds." I gave them both a hostile look, Mikasa sighed, then Annie released her grip onto her.

"(Y/N)'s right. We still need to get to Eren before someone hurts him, or worse."

"Wait, I just remembered something!" Everyone turned their attention towards me. "Lucas had wished me good luck in finding him earlier."

"You ran into Lucas?" Mikasa asked, surprised. I nodded. "Never talk to him ever again."

"I don't get why the both of you hate him so much. He seems like a good person!"

"He's not!" Mikasa, Annie, and Levi exclaimed simultaneously.

"Look, whatever he did to you all in the past, it's over with. We're in the present now, and we have a situation that still has not been resolved, so we need to get going."

It was an awkward silence after that, but it was better than having all of them at each other's throats.

"C'mon, I'll lead the way," Annie said. All of us started to walk except Levi, and I turned around to look at him.

"I have other business I need to take care of, so I'll be going."

I rolled my eyes. "Of course you do. You're not needed anyway. I don't think Eren would be pleased to see you there trying to 'help him'."

"Don't let him fool you, (Y/N). You may think he's your friend right now, but just wait. Eren will turn on you and leave you wondering what the hell you did for him to do something so cruel."

I gave him a weird look. "And you're saying this as if you know him well, when you don't know shit about Eren."

"And you don't remember anything about him, but that's not my problem now, is it?"

My hands started to curl into fists, and I really wanted to punch the hell out of him, but Mikasa and Annie called for me, so I turned away from Levi and quickly caught up to them.

I really don't get how I fell in love with a person like him. He acts so...cocky at times, and I hate that.

"So, do you think that Eren will be alright? What if we don't get to him in time?"

Mikasa placed a hand on my shoulder, attempting to reassure me. "We'll make it there, I promise."

"Hey, he's a strong kid. An annoying one, but very strong," Annie said. "I'm sure he'll pull through even if we don't make it in time."

I was about to respond to her, until she held a hand out in front of the two of us, signaling us to stop moving.

"This is the building. I'm not sure what the hell might be waiting for us inside, but I know that it's not going to be anything good."

All three of us walked towards the door with caution, not knowing what could await us.

As we walked inside, there was nothing but darkness.

"This doesn't seem right at all. What the hell are they planning?" I whispered.

"You're asking like we should know the answer to that." Annie whispered back. "These people might try to ambush us, so be prepared to fight at all costs."

Suddenly, we heard the door slam shut, making it darker than it was before.

I pulled my gun out of my pocket, and they did the same.

"Alright, whoever is out there, we don't want to hurt you! All we want is our friend back! Turn on the lights so that we can see your faces!" I said as loud as I could. No more than 15 seconds later, the lights flickered on, which only made my eyes hurt since the light was dim.

When my eyes finally refocused, I looked around to see if I could find someone. Unfortunately, there was no person in sight besides Mikasa and Annie.

"I don't get it. Where could they have gone that quick?"

"(Y/N)! Mikasa!"

I looked up to see that Eren was quickly coming down the steps, then he stopped to catch his breath. "I thought you two weren't gonna show up!"

"Of course we would!" Mikasa hugged Eren while smiling, and he gladly returned it, then eventually pulled away.

"But since you got kidnapped, wouldn't you be tied up right about now?" I gave a confused look.

He looked at me while giving me a small smile. "I just got released when they heard you three coming in." I noticed that he didn't have any scratches or bruises on his body, which was weird, yet relieving.

Annie raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean by 'they'?"

"I don't think you all should-"

"Eren, we need to know who kidnapped you so that we can make sure that it doesn't happen again. Now tell us who it was." Mikasa said in a sharp tone, and Eren looked away from me, as if he was embarrassed to say so.

"Ah, (Y/N)! I knew that I would run into you again!"

I looked up to see Lucas once again. "And why in the world are you here? I thought you had some business to take care of? Mikasa asked coldy.

He started to walk down the steps. "I needed to check up on my friend. Why else would I be here?" He gave me a smile.

Mikasa and Annie pointed their guns at him as he got closer, and he held up his hand. "The two of you can stop with the act, it's getting really tiring now."

They looked at each other, then slowly lowered their guns.

"Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on? Why are you two listening to his orders if you despise him?"

Lucas placed a hand on my shoulder. "Maybe you should find that out from someone else." He winked at me, then shouted,"Boss, she's down here!"

I looked up once more to see another person that I thought I wasn't expecting to hear from in a very long time.

"Am I dreaming, or is that really him?"

Andddd I finally made another chapter after a few months. I'm really sorry, I had completely forgot about the story. And I'm also not sure when the next chapter will be published, but I am working on it!
