Coffee and Hot Chocolate- WOLFSTAR
Sirius needed to clear his mind. Properly this time, maybe with a good cup of coffee. He made his way to the local coffee shop (The Three Broomsticks) and swung open the door. The tinny bell echoed through the shop and he was surlrised to see how packed it was. All the tables were completely full, except one where a sandy haired boy with a laptop and camera sat, his eyes glued to the screen. Sirius sucked in his breath and walked over.
"Can I um, sit here?" He asked, fingers brushing against the top of the wooden chair.
"Huh? Oh, I don't min- I mean, yes. Yes, you can sit there." It was clear that the boy wasn't very social. Sirius sat down and scrolled through social media, but for some crazy reason, he kept sneaking glances at the boy. The way his oddly long eyelashes skimmed his cheek, how he would occasionally shake his head back to get his loose curls out of his face. Normally, Sirius would use a pick up line, but he didn't really seem like one of those people who would really like it.
"Hello gentlemen, what would you like today?" A skinny, short haired brunette asked the two boys sitting at the table. Laptop boy's eyes did not even divert from the screen when he muttered,
"Uh, hot chocolate, extra whipped cream." While typing furiously.
"And you?" She asked, biting her lip. Sirius automatically assumed she was one of those people who would give their number out just like that. She left and Sirius' will to talk to the boy grew stronger.
"So, do you work?" Sirius asked lamely and he felt like slapping himself. It just had to be that question, didn't it?
"Yes, at a book shop, but it's hard as I'm in uni, studying photography and English literature. What about you?" He said while pushing his laptop lid down. The boy was rather proud of himself for saying such a long sentence to a stranger, maybe he deserved the extra whipped cream.
"I work at this music store and also go to university. I study in music, obviously."
"W-what sort of music do you like?" Laptop boy asked awkwardly. Of course things weren't going to go smoothly, that's just not how it works.
"Mostly punk rock. What type of books do you read?" Sirius asked, stowing his phone away in his pocket.
"A lot of Shakespeare, I like fiction as well though." He giggled slightly, his jumper coming down over his thumb. Sirius smiled at him.
"I prefer watching movies. Reading, I'll just fall asleep quickly." Sirius admitted while noticing the waitress eyeing him in the corner of his eye.
"Read Wonder if you haven't already. It- it's a really good book." Book boy offered and Sirius tilted his head slightly, thinking.
"I take your word for it." Sirius said. Just then, the waitress came back with two mugs and a piece of folded up paper. She put the drinks in front of the boys and pushed the piece if paper in front of Sirius. Sirius opened the paper and aimed it in to the bin after she left.
"People these days, I didn't even ask for it." Sirius shook his head. The sandy haired looked at him quizzically and Sirius knew he had to explain.
"Did she give you her number?" Asked Remus while taking a sip of sweet cocoa. The hot liquid ran down his throat, making his insides warm and calm. Chocolate always had that effect on him. Ever since he could remember.
"Yeah." Sirius sighed. He didn't know the girl was watching him to everything from the counter and when he noticed, not a single ounce of regret filled his body. She turned her nose up and swivelled around to start making drinks.
"What's your name, if you don't mind me asking?"
"Remus Lupin. What about you?" Remus said while smiling brightly. Remus Lupin. A beautiful name in Sirius' mind. Unique and beautiful. It's not everyday you meet a Remus who looks so goddamn gorgeous.
"You have a nice name. I'm Sirius."
"Sirius....?"
"Black." Sirius mumbled hesitantly. A lot of people knew his family, respected among some, but most horrified by their actions. Remus' eyes grew ever so slightly but he didn't say anything. A Black had once broken his mother's leg. Was it really safe to carry on talking to him?
"My family's messed up, I know. Not a big fan of them either." Sirius said, reading Remus like a book. Remus suddenly felt very rude and impolite.
"Oh- it's not... I mean, I just... never mind." Remus stuttered while a grin spread across Sirius' face making Remus smile too. Something about Remus' smile made Sirius all warm and fuzzy, like all his problems with his family had seized to exist. But that was crazy. He had barely knew the boy for more than half an hour.
"You're cute." Remus nearly choked on his drink when Sirius said this. Half a bloody hour leads to this.
"That's a bit soon, don't you think?" Gasped Remus, rubbing his chest, trying to ease the burning sensation.
"I don't think it's ever to soon to tell someone how they look." Sirius shrugged. Remus' expression was unreadable.
"Well, fine. But I really struggle to believe you. Thank you though." Remus smiled. Sirius winked and took a sip of his strong black coffee. He had a love hate relationship with Black coffee. He liked how it tasted but it was black coffee. His family would now have something else to add to the long list of useless stuff they've got. The Black Lake, an unworthy son, and many other things.
"Ugh, this coffee tastes weird. Do you usually come here?" Sirius asked the boy who was sipping on his hot chocolate, the whipped cream brushing his nose.
"Every Saturday at around noonish. Their coffee is known to be a bit of a let down, but their muffins are amazing."
The two chatted for a couple more hours and the bond between them strengthened. Sirius also found himself going to The Three Broomsticks every Saturday at exactly noon. Remus also made sure he never missed a week.
