Call To Arms

OK, so the interlude was easier than I expected. Cheers, guys, before I go to bed!

"Thank you to PE for the coffee," the Doctor took another drink of his as everyone boarded the TARDIS again. "So, what shall we do this time? Another adventure where we could possibly lose our lives? Lose dimensions? Or shall we try for easy?"

"Actually," Wanda gave Jessie a look out of the corner of her eye. "Why don't we check back in with the Avengers?"

"Yeah, we haven't heard from them since we heard they were looking for Rumlow," Pietro nodded.

"Good point," the Doctor nodded. "Excellent idea. The Avengers complex, it is."

"And I can get Martha up to speed on what stupid things you've done," Jessie teased.

"Oi!" the Doctor protested as the Maximoffs laughed. "Stupid?"

"To be fair," Clara grinned, "that does happen."

"Oh, is it gang up on the Doctor day suddenly?" he whined, flipping a lever. "I'm already taking you there, you don't need to do that."

"Do you want us with you?" Wanda asked Jessie quietly as Clara went over to help the Doctor.

"Do you mind if you do?" Jessie asked, eyes flicking over to Pietro, who kept an eye on them. "It might be less suspicious if you both weren't gone."

"Of course," Wanda nodded immediately.

"Thank you," she smiled in relief. "I think the Doctor might have heart attacks if I told him."

"We've got company!" Sam shouted as a familiar wheezing sound echoed in the complex.

Steve and Saleen ran around the corner, Natasha and Martha behind them as the Doctor stepped out. "Back in America!" he grinned as the rest of the group poured out after him. "No space train with a mythological mummy, and no two-dimensional Boneless trying to kill us."

" . . . I'm sorry?" Saleen blinked at him.

"Our two most recent monsters," Pietro waved a hand. "Oh, and the moon hatched."

"Excuse me?" Steve's eyebrows shot up, Natasha trying hard not to laugh.

"It's confusing," Clara sighed as Jessie walked over to Martha, talking quietly to her under her breath.

"Very," the Doctor nodded. "Now. Rumlow. Progress. Is there?"

"We're getting extremely close," Saleen nodded, pulling up information on her tablet as Wanda walked over to Martha and Jessie, Martha nodding along with what Jessie was saying. "In fact, we're hoping – "

"You two coming?" Clara called.

Jessie blinked, looking up. "Martha's going to catch us up," she answered, Martha holding up her own tablet. "We'll be back."

"All right," the Doctor frowned, watching them leave. Normally, Jessie would hear what Steve had to say . . . but, then again, she'd been acting weird, after all. Maybe Martha would be able to figure out what was going on. "Anyway," he turned to Saleen. "What about Rumlow?"

"We've narrowed Rumlow's location down," Saleen answered, throwing a 3D image up, the Doctor, Clara, and Pietro gathering around, Steve and Natasha behind her. "Currently, we're looking into Lagos, Nigeria . . . "

"And you don't want to do this on the TARDIS why?" Martha asked as she drew a sample of Jessie's blood, the Time Lady sitting down on one of her medical tables, Wanda standing by her side. "I'm thrilled you trust me to do this . . . but wouldn't the TARDIS be able to figure this out better than me?"

"She thinks the TARDIS would tell the Doctor," Wanda answered with a smirk.

"And I might be a bit scared," Jessie admitted.

"Well, I would be, too, if this turns out positive," Martha smiled encouragingly, checking the blood stick she had just drawn. "I'll just need to run this and see – "

An alarm abruptly went off, making Jessie blink and look up. "What's that?"

"The assemble alarm," Martha realized, eyes wide. "But that means – "

"Bad Wolf, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, to the landing bay," Steve's voice announced. "All Avengers assemble."

"They've found him," Martha breathed, quickly inserting the blood stick into a scanner as Jessie scrambled off the table. "They've got him!"

"At last," Jessie ran out of the room. "They've got Crossbones!"

"But what about the bloodwork?" Martha shouted after her.

"I won't get a scratch on me!" Jessie promised.

"I won't let that happen!" Wanda called back at the same time.

Martha huffed, folding her arms and watching them go. "Be careful!" she finally called.

"Hey!" Jessie poked her head back in, an innocent expression on her face. "It's me!"

Martha smirked and rolled her eyes, heading back to the scanner, setting the blood work running. "All right," she crossed her arms. "Let's see if we've got another Time Lord – or Lady – coming."

Because she knew that would be a light everyone in the complex would want if this ended up going south.
