Chapter 15

The faint glow of the moonlight filtered into the room, painting soft patterns on the floor as Saga sat curled up on the couch. Her gaze was fixed on the skyline outside, but her mind was far from serene. Her hands fiddled with the corner of her blanket as her thoughts raced. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong with her—her recent forgetfulness and hesitation felt like a weight she couldn’t name.

The soft creak of the door broke her reverie. She turned to see Jungkook stepping inside, his black hoodie slightly damp from the evening chill. His hair was messy, and his eyes held a quiet intensity.

"Sparkle," he called softly, his voice almost a whisper.

Saga looked up at him, startled but unable to hide the faint smile that tugged at her lips. "You scared me," she murmured, tucking her knees closer to her chest.

Jungkook chuckled as he walked closer, sitting on the floor beside her. “Sorry. I just… couldn’t sleep.”

Saga tilted her head, her brows furrowed. “Why not? Everything okay?”

He nodded, leaning his head against the couch, looking up at her. "I was worried about you," he admitted.

Her heart skipped a beat at his words. “Worried? Why?”

Jungkook shrugged, but his eyes didn’t leave her face. “I’ve been watching you these past few days, Saga. You’ve been quieter than usual, and not in a ‘you’re tired’ kind of way. Something’s wrong.”

Saga hesitated, shaking her head slightly. “I’m fine, really.”

He narrowed his eyes at her, his lips pressing into a stubborn line. “You’re not fine, and you know it. Don’t think you can fool me, Sparkle. I know you better than that.”

Her hands tightened around the blanket, and she turned her gaze away. “Jungkook, I don’t want to talk about it.”

“Tough,” he said firmly, his tone leaving no room for argument. “You think you can just bottle everything up and carry it all by yourself? That’s not happening, not while I’m here.”

“Why do you even care so much?” she asked, her voice sharp with frustration.

Jungkook’s eyes softened, but his determination didn’t waver. “Because I care about you, Saga. More than you know. And seeing you like this... it kills me.”

Her throat tightened at his words, and she bit her lip, trying to hold back the wave of emotion threatening to spill over.

He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a gentler tone. “Sparkle, please. Talk to me. Whatever it is, you don’t have to face it alone. I won’t let you.”

She looked down, her fingers trembling as they fidgeted with the edge of the blanket. “I… I don’t know how to explain it,” she whispered.

“Try,” he urged softly, his hand reaching out to cover hers. “Take your time. I’m not going anywhere.”

Saga hesitated, her walls beginning to crack under the weight of his unwavering support. She glanced at him, her voice trembling as she began to speak. “Sometimes, I feel like I’m not myself. Like I’m losing pieces of who I am. I forget things. I hesitate to do the simplest tasks. And it’s terrifying, Jungkook. It feels like... like I’m disappearing.”

Jungkook’s grip on her hands tightened slightly, his jaw clenching as he fought the urge to fix everything for her. His gaze softened as he processed her words, and he shifted closer, his tone filled with quiet determination. “Sparkle, listen to me. Whatever this is, you’re not alone in it. You’re not disappearing. You’re still here, and you’re still you. And I’ll do whatever it takes to remind you of that.”

Saga’s eyes glistened with tears, her voice cracking as she replied, “But what if I’m not enough anymore? What if I can’t—”

“Don’t,” he interrupted firmly, his eyes locking with hers. “Don’t you dare think that you’re not enough. You’re more than enough, Saga. You’re everything.”

Her lips parted in surprise, her cheeks flushing as his words sank in. “Jungkook, why… why do you care so much?”

He laughed softly, shaking his head as if the answer was obvious. “Because you’re my everything, Saga.” His eyes held a sincerity that made her chest ache. “You’re the one who makes me feel alive, who makes me laugh even on my worst days. You’re the one I think about when I close my eyes at night. Don’t you see? You’re not just someone I care about. You’re… you’re it for me.”

Saga felt tears spill over as the weight she’d been carrying eased ever so slightly. “Jungkook…”

He reached up, brushing a strand of hair from her face, his fingers lingering on her cheek. “I don’t care what you’re going through, Sparkle. I’ll be here for you, no matter what. Because you complete me. Without you, I’m just... lost.”

She leaned into his touch, her voice trembling as she whispered, “You mean that?”

“With everything I am,” he said without hesitation.

Before she could overthink it, Saga leaned forward, wrapping her arms around him tightly. He pulled her close, his arms encircling her protectively as if shielding her from the world.

“You don’t have to be strong all the time,” he murmured into her hair. “Lean on me, Sparkle. Let me be your strength.”

For the first time in what felt like forever, Saga felt a weight lift off her chest. In Jungkook’s arms, she felt safe—safe to feel, safe to be vulnerable, safe to hope.

After a moment, she pulled back slightly, her cheeks still wet with tears but her lips curved into a small smile. “Thank you, Jungkook. For being... you.”

He smiled, his thumb brushing away her tears. “Dont thank me, Sparkle. The only thing you can do is love me. And I am always there for you.”

The silence between them was thick with unspoken words, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. Jungkook shifted slightly, his gaze dropping to her lips for a brief second before returning to her eyes. “Can I do something?” he asked, his voice a gentle murmur.

Saga nodded, her heart pounding in her chest.

Slowly, Jungkook leaned in, his movements deliberate and full of intent. His lips brushed hers softly, almost hesitantly, as if giving her the chance to pull away. But she didn’t. Instead, she leaned in further, her hands gripping his hoodie as she kissed him back.

The kiss was tender and filled with unspoken promises. It wasn’t hurried or frantic—it was perfect, like the culmination of every moment they had shared, every feeling they had suppressed.

When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathless, their foreheads resting against each other.

“I choose you, Saga,” Jungkook whispered, his voice unwavering. “Every time. No matter what.”

Saga smiled through her tears, her heart full for the first time in what felt like forever. “And I choose you,” she whispered back.

The moonlight bathed them in its soft glow as they sat there, wrapped in each other’s warmth, the world outside forgotten. In that moment, nothing else mattered but the undeniable connection between them.
