Autumn's POV
----------------2 weeks later---------------
     I wipe sweat off of my forehead, tired from lifting wood and securing it together all day. I decide to take a break and help out with the garden instead.
We planted a community garden where we grow our own food since we don't have the houses nearby anymore. Louis and I had planted some things about a week ago and little plants were sprouting up out of the dirt.
The day was scorching hot and the dirt around the plants was cracked. I take out the watering can and go to the well (yes, we also built a well) and fill the can up. I then water the plants until the dirt is normal and a little bit moist.
I decide I need to sit down so I go to the big community building we've just finished and sit down. Inside, Kora and May are discussing if we should have a currency and what it should be. We are building our own society, we had the chance to influence our future.
Cosmos was purring and rolling around on the table, trying to get their attention but both girls were too busy discussing to notice. I go and pick him up, scratching behind his ears and rubbing his soft tummy. I then go and get him some water to drink. I bring him back to the table and give him to Kora. She thanks me, petting his back and continuing their conversation.
I decide that I'm bored so I wait for Louis to be done working. The latest we were allowed to work was sunset and each of us had to work for a minimum of one hour per day. We all slept in the community building since the cabins weren't done yet.
It was about 10 minutes until sunset and I'm waiting for Louis outside the community building. I see him set down his tools and come running to me. I get wrapped in a bear hug and gladly return it. We technically don't have many labor rules but Louis stayed true and is working almost full hours. He takes some days off and we allow it because he works the most. It is easiest for him to reach the higher parts of the building because he can fly so he completes mostly the tops of the buildings.
"Babe, I missed you." he says, burying his face in my neck.
"I missed you too, Louis." I say back, kissing him.
"I need a shower, what about you?" he asks.
"Today was a hot day so sure." I say.
Our showers were basically going swimming in a pond until we could figure out something else. We didn't have shampoo and conditioner as to not mess up the dirt around the water so we just clean ourselves to our best ability until we could figure something else out.
We changed into our bathing suits because there was no privacy at the pond so everyone could see. Then we head out.
I jump into the water, grabbing Louis's hand and pulling him with me. We both fall into the water. We come up, laughing. I dive underwater, scrubbing myself with my hands. I turn to see Louis watching me with a smirk. I come up and slap him on the head.
"Ow! What was that for?!" he says.
"Seriously?"
"Fine..."
We splash around a bit more and then get out and dry off. Then we head back to the community building.
It was almost time to go to sleep because we went to sleep early and got up early. I asked if everyone wanted to have just a fun day at the lake tomorrow and everyone replied with a happy yes.
We then talked for a while and went to sleep. Louis and I slept in one of the guest rooms. We had built them in case we ever found more people and had to build cabins for them. There were 3 total so there were still others who had to sleep in other places. May and Daniel slept in the makeshift hospital that we had for now and Victoria had volunteered to sleep in the main room where we all had meetings and just hung out.
We had stolen some beds and dressers from furniture stores and other places. We hadn't quite figured out our bathroom situation so we now had an outhouse as our bathroom.
I changed into my nightgown, the only thing that I could grab while being dragged around clothing stores by my friends. Louis had his fuzzy pajama pants on. I hadn't used this nightgown before, sleeping in sweatpants and a t-shirt but those ran out quickly. I climbed into bed and his under the covers before Louis saw my outfit and questioned me.
He climbs into the bed with me and pulls the covers over himself. I wiggle my way over to him and his muscular arms wrap around my waist. I cuddle up to him and close my eyes. His breathing slowed after a while and I decide that I should sleep too. I close my eyes and the world fades.
---------------The next day----------------
I wake up with Louis still sleeping. I stay snuggled up to him and just enjoy this while it lasts. He wakes up shortly after and climbs out of bed. He yawns, stretching. I do the same. He looks over at me and eyes my outfit questioningly. I look down to realize that I'm still wearing the nightgown.
     I grab a change of clothes and quickly slip into our empty bathroom. I put my bathing suit under my clothes because we were having a lake day! I am so happy!
      I exit the bathroom to find Louis with just his bathing suit on again.
     "Let's head to the lake!" I say.
     "Not before breakfast." he says.
     It was our turn to make breakfast so today it was dry cereal with fruit. We cycled through people but since we didn't have animals yet, we couldn't have milk or eggs yet.
     We ate and a few people joined us but some were still sleeping. Louis and I head down to the lake. We set up towels and set down our picnic basket of food for lunch. Then we wait for everyone to arrive.
