Picking Up
I should probably say it before it gets too far, but this story mainly revolves around Kakashi and Obito 'cause I bias to them.
:D
Enjoy! (My story is going a little too fast in my opinion so the chance of a rewrite after this book is finished is likely...)
...
Gin removed his shirt to enter the springs in the pool for a bath when he noticed a deep, badly treated scar on his shoulder. Another pulse engulfed his vision and he swayed, kneeling down into the water.
He was amongst the trees, looking for a man and a woman, as the smell of blood, sweat and dirt filled his sense of smell. He finally came to a small clearing with a familiar black haired woman kneeling down in the middle, a masked man over her - ready to strike.
"KARASU!!" a hoarse voiced screamed.
Ka... Ra... Su...?
"Kaa chan!" a voice teased behind him and he swiveled around to see a smaller version of himself grinning at the same woman while she blushed angrily.
My mother.
Once his younger self walked off a sliver haired man came up to the woman laughing.
"That is my son." he said almost smugly.
"He's mine too!" Karasu yelled, face still red.
My parents.
Suddenly the peaceful scene reverted back to the battlefield and Gin himself in a wolf mask was standing there, with a scroll in hand.
"Ma... No need to get so defensive Sakumo chan! I'm just a passing helper, call me... Okami." he drawled in a playful tone and then-
"Gin."
The familiar raspy voice spoke in a dangerous tone and Madara himself was in the field, time paused around them.
Suddenly memories in the back of his head seemed to flood out, and Kakashi remembered.
For a split second he remembered.
And he remembered his sensei, his village, his friends.
His family.
His sensei.
His brother.
"O... Bi... To-?"
Madara's eternal mangekyo sharingan eyes spun.
And Gin woke up in a daze, not aware of the eyes looking at him intensely from behind.
Did I fall asleep...?
He shrugged internally to himself and continued bathing.
...
After he showed the letter to everyone and witnessed their hopes getting crushed, the hope that Kakashi was alive, Obito sat alone in the dark, thinking of the day's events.
"Kakashi is still out there! I'm sure-" Minato tried to deny before Kushina snarled, gripping the letter so tightly Obito thought it would tear.
"Just read the letter Minato! It's obviously a will written by KAKASHI!"
"But how did he even-?" Karasu muttered before Fugaku cut in.
"... Let's discuss this in a more private area."
"I'm sorry... Obito, you can't come- OBITO!" Mikoto yelled.
He ran.
He continued lying on the grass on that same Hill where they made that bond.
The stars above him twinkled and for a second he heard Kakashi's voice right beside him, like a passing breeze.
"O... Bi... To-?" it seemed to whisper and Obito bit his lip.
He really did miss Kakashi.
A spark of anger ignited a fire within him, the thought that they dare hide information on his own sworn brother from him-! He growled to himself as his fists clenched beside him. He held his eyes with his hands, vowing to himself.
He looked up determinedly to the sky, black irises reflecting the stars.
I swear I'll find out what happened to you Kakashi.
And the stars seemed to twinkle even brighter, the breeze bringing a soft laugh to his ears.
...
Fugaku watched regretfully as his nephew ran away, with so much animosity in his eyes once he heard Mikoto explain to him that he couldn't come.
"We should bring this to Sandaime sama." he said after a while, looking down at the letter. Sakumo was in bed resting, a Yamanaka appointment scheduled later in the evening. They all nodded their heads in agreement and made their way to the hokage tower.
...
Rin didn't know Kakashi a lot, but he was a gentleman, intelligent and kind. He was only in the academy for a year and was always beside Obito, never opening to anyone.
Except her.
For some odd reason.
He seemed comfortable with only Obito and her, and she liked their small group.
Strangely he always told her about how good Obito was constantly and one time she asked him about it, only to get a "Hokage needs a wife." answer, whatever that meant. Rin liked Kakashi, and saw him as a guardian, more like.
Something about him made him different from everyone else their age.
He taught her sometimes about various poisons he read about and she listened intently as Obito nodded off beside her.
Kakashi was like an elder brother.
And when Obito came slumbering into her home in deep thoughts, she took him in without question and did her best to nurse him back to normal.
Until he finally explained his mood.
"Kakashi's gone." he muttered, frowning as he clenched his fists.
Her eyes widened in shock and then her face crumpled at the thought of how much this was affecting Obito.
"Obito..."
"They wouldn't tell me." He said darkly, eyes narrowing to Rin's surprise. She had never seen him so serious before. "They wouldn't tell me anything on what's going on."
She only sat beside him, an arm around his shoulders.
She would be his pillar till Kakashi comes back.
...
Sakumo was dreaming.
He was in a field with his son, enjoying their time together.
"Ne Otou san..." Kakashi spoke softly beside him. "You know, I'm really proud of you." he gave an 'eye smile' and Sakumo felt a sense of pride and embarrassment light inside of him.
"Ho?" he asked curiously, raising an eyebrow while smirking.
Kakashi sat up and was about to speak when suddenly he started choking, eyes wide.
"Otou sa-" and he burst into black smoke, tiny drops of blood spraying onto his face. He felt a chill run up his spine as his eyes widened in horror, the sky turning into a dark ominous red color.
And then he looked behind.
Bodies.
Every single person he killed in piles.
For the sake of Konoha.
And Karasu was in the middle, a Konoha anbu above her with his sword through her heart.
She fell forward, hitting the ground roughly, eyes dull and the same red thick liquid spreading around her lifeless body.
Then the worst part, was when the anbu looked up, he had a black wolf mask on.
It slipped off and Kakashi stood there, half of his face consumed by that... Creature.
"Ka... Ka... Shi-?"
Still one dull black orb looked at him. A hand was lifted.
"... Who are you?"
And a black rod was through his heart.
The White Fang broke.
...
"So... Kakashi is Okami, he is at an S rank level, and is still about 10?" Sarutobi said, still stuck on the fact that someone so young could be so deceiving and powerful under the watchful eye of Konoha.
"... Hai." Karasu muttered, head still spinning.
Sarutobi sighed and sat back in his chair, fingers intertwined.
"I... I don't know what to do." He muttered, eyes trailing to each and every grim face. "Do we send a team to find him or mark him as a missing nin? Or cover up the situation as an accident during a mission?"
"... We should..."
...
A/N
And what should they do? Help me please.
Sorry I haven't been updating, I'm a lazy person by nature ya know?

PS. Wondering how Sakumo's trip to the Yamanaka is going to turn out, or is it too late?
