The name's Nicolle. My mother loves the name for some reason. At least I wasn't named after my own mother like my dad wanted. Anywho, my day started like every day. I woke up getting ready for school, learn in school, and then come home to eat lunch.

It's pretty normal routine of the life of a high schooler, no?

Okay, let's just cut to the chase of the whole reason why you are reading this. Shall we?

I am an anime lover or an Otaku. I love reading manga and watching anime. I have read and seen a lot and fell in love with it. I am not too into it like some are but I enjoy them as much, if that makes sense. My dream is to actually go to Japan one day like any other Otaku.

Let's see, I am 18 now and it's the middle of April. Like most of you know, I have exams in the middle of May and what am I doing? Not studying. I never really studied in my life, heck I don't know how to study I always get good grades on a test so I never really worried. I live in an apartment complex with my best guy friend.

No, I am not in love with my best friend. Needed to clarify that.

His name is Drake, he's a year older than me. We met when I was a freshman and we just started hanging out when we met each other at the bus stop one morning. Pretty cool guy. We were nerds so it was easy to talk to. We actually planned to live together once I finish high school now. He's the best guy I could count on since we met.

Today is a Friday, I don't get out till two in the afternoon. Right now, I'm on my bus to go home and hang out. I somehow convinced my mother to go to the mall with him. It's a miracle that she let me, do you know how hard it is to ask your Hispanic mother permission to even go outside!?

Anyways, I get off the bus to be greeted by Drake. Drake is a tall guy, close to being six feet to be exact. I, on the other hand, am rather short. I still haven't even reached five feet. Then again, not us Hispanic are that tall.

"What up Drake." I asked once I reached him and started to walk together to my house.

"The sky." I rolled my eyes at his response. "Where's your brother?"

"He faked he was sick and it actually worked this time, can you believe that!" I laughed as he smiled and shook his head while chuckling. "Unbelievable." I nodded and turned to look at him.

"I'll be right back, let me put my stuff in."

He nodded as he looked down his phone. I opened the building door and walked past the stairs to my door. I unlocked it and walked in.

"I'm home and leaving!" I yelled closing the door. I went into my room and put my book bag on the floor. I grabbed my supernatural purse and started to walk out of my room to my brothers.

"Imma go now and mom should be home in a couple of minutes." I spoke to my shirtless brother. He looked up at his phone and nodded.

"Okay, be safe and get me something. Love you."

I rolled my eyes and nodded. "I will, love you too." I walked out and closed his door. I went out the front door and locked it. Pulled out my phone and started to text my mother.

Me: I'm home and leaving now love you

Mom: okay be safe te amo

•••

Me: I will Mamí love you too

•••

I put my phone away and opened the building door. "Let's go, my good sir. We are ready to blast off to the mall!!" He rolled his eyes as we walked to his car. I jumped in the front seat with a smile and a bounce. He laughed at me and pulled out of the parking space.

The Mall was fun. We went to Hot Topic because I made him take me there. After buying two things from there, we went to an arcade that was located near the food court and played games. I will say that I kept on losing in some of them. I did win a small prize at a shooting game. I was surprised when I won, to be honest. I won this small light blue whale and named him Whale-y. I'll give that to my brother. After a while of gaming, we went to the food court.

I ate a chicken quesadilla and a strawberry mango smoothie. It was delicious. Drake ate Chinese food and drank Pepsi cause It's the best. After eating, we started to walk around the mall for a bit. I look down at my phone to check the time.

"We should get home, Mom wants me coming home before six." I said to Drake as we near the entrance. "Alright, let's go home." He nodded. We walked outside as we talked about an anime I was currently watching. I look at the road to see a little boy running in the street where a car was approaching. My eyes widen and I looked at Drake. I dropped my purse and phone and started to run towards the kid. I grabbed the kid and hugged him tight against my body, there's no time to move out of the way now.

"NICOLLE!!!"

I felt the hood of the car crash on my side. I tightened my grip on the kid as we flew and rolled on the cement road. Once we stop, I lost my grip on him and felt a wave of dizziness and nausea hit me. I heard the kid crying and saw a blurry figure making their way to me.

"NICOLLE! CAN YOU HEAR ME!?"

I know that voice.... It sounds familiar. Drake?..... I couldn't help let out a choked sob. I didn't notice I was crying till now. I slowly moved my head to him.

"Drake....? It hurts..... A lot...." I cried as I shut my eyes. I felt a hand lightly smacking my right cheek. "No, don't close your eyes, s-stay with me the Ambulance is coming. It's o-okay, you can hold just for a bit longer. I-I promise...." I felt something wet hit my face.

"Don't cry.... Please.." I felt very sleepy when I said that. "I'm tired..... Can I s-sleep...?" My vision kept going in and out as I try to force them open.

"D-Don't close your eyes, it's not time to go to sleep okay!!" He yelled as he held my hand. I smiled up at him.

"I think..... I need to go to that bright light over t-there..... D-Drake..... Thanks for being there...... For me..... tell t-them I love them f-for me....." I slightly laughed as I cough. It hurts to cough. It hurts so much.

"No, no, no, no! You are not going there, you are to stay here okay!! Don't closE YOUR EYES!!" He yelled again as I groaned in pain.

"Drake," I smiled up at him, "I love you, did you k-know that idiot..." I couldn't win the fight, my eyes feel so heavy and the light just shined brighter. I could feel myself walking to it as it shined brighter and brighter........

Why is the world cruel to me...?
