Enlightening

Gil Galad, High King of the Noldor in Exile, had sent out scouts to clear the southern area and investigate a ship they had seen sailing from the docks. Cirdan had been prepared to sail to meet the ship and escort them into the harbor but a horrible storm had started and the ship had been carried south. When the ship was found, a man had admitted to giving the elf on board only a few coins in exchange for the ship. The man had described the elf for him and the two groups of elves that were there.
"He was blonde an' dumb if'n you ask me. Offered 'im two gold pieces fer the ship. He 'ad nodded. Tall fella wif plenty o' weapons. Youse missed 'im by a few hours. Didn't speak anything." The man had said. There was a circlet on the boat along with a banner from a house long dead. The green and gold with a stylized sun seemed to mock Gil Galad as he studied it closer.
"Did this elf have long hair almost to the ground?" Gil Galad questioned, praying the answer was no. The man nodded. Gil Galad felt some anger stirring inside of him. The Valar were cruel indeed to return anyone to these shores. He did not dare believe that he was right. He had ordered Elrond and his merry band of kin slayers to search for the missing elf that could be lost and or wounded. Elrond and the scouts of his house set out while Gil Galad made sure the boat was sailed to Lindon and everything aboard reviewed by Elrond's scholars. As Elrond's House had people who could recognize the real from the fake with absolute certainty, Gil Galad trusted them to do their jobs.
Everything on the ship belonged to an Elven Warrior of Vanya and Noldo descent. The things on the boat were all new, from Valinor without a doubt. Letters to the Vanya from family lay unopened, as they were private. There was a letter to both him and Elrond from Earindel and one from Ingwë respectively. Gil Galad opened his letter from Ingwë, nervous about what was written. He was in shock at what was contained in the letter. Ingwë told him that the Valar had sent another emissary to their shores. Not a Maia but an elven lord of old. Ingwë's kinsman had come as the Valar had sent him due to an oath the elven warrior had made as a child at the feet of the Valar. The was a note about getting to know this elven warrior before believing what history said as history was rarely kind to the dead.
Gil Galad didn't know how he felt about this but it was clear that the elf was here to stay. Something just sat wrong with him about this. He knew war was on the horizon but why did the Valar return a dead elf to them. Would this elven warrior even be in his right mind? Gil Galad was also worried for the well being of the elven lord of old. He figured that if the Valar did not show mercy to the poor elf, he would. He set up a modest room and had the belongings placed in the rooms. There were no names but the motif of golden flowers and stylized suns hinted at the identity of the reborn elven warrior. Glorfindel of the House of the Golden Flower of Gondolin, Legendary Balrog Slayer and loyal family member. This amazing elven warrior was descended from Ingwë and Finwë, a force to be reckoned with and history showed that he held no love for politics. Gil Galad felt bad that Glorfindel would have to play court games on his own until Gil Galad could determine his character. That didn't mean that Gil Galad wouldn't try to help but he had to see if Glorfindel was of outstanding character.
Erestor had noticed the motifs also and had written to Elrond with his suspicions and the area the new comer's rooms were located. Elrond had written back a few days later, stating that the elf had to be from Valinor because there was no other way he was faster then mounted Elven riders. The blonde warrior had been injured and had cut his hair, hiding from the riders. Elrond had sent some of the golden strands to Gil Galad and the High King had no doubt that it was Glorfindel they were tracking. Which meant that Glorfindel was aware of their pursuit and was afraid of them., actively hiding from help.
Gil Galad wouldn't admit the anger he felt at the realization was for Glorfindel. Perhaps the storm had set the elven lord off and since then, Glorfindel had been in a strange daze. It made sense to Gil Galad in a way. Glorfindel had only been reborn at most four weeks now. Running through the wilds for three weeks, fighting off bands of orcs by himself. Glorfindel was a great fighter but even he was bound to tire and get sloppy soon. Not to mention that food and water was hard to come by in the area Glorfindel and Elrond were in. He just prayed that Elrond would find the reborn elf soon.
——————-
Elrond had observed the Elven warrior from a distance for the last three weeks, noticing the strange bandages, the limp that was barely there, the perfect battle stances, the ease with which the warrior made his way though the enemy. They retraced the battle areas, always in awe of the fact one elf had defeated so many orcs by themselves. Then they had found the chopped off hair and elven blood on the ground. The warrior had still been far enough ahead that they couldn't do anything. Erestor told him about the suspension that Gil Galad had and Elrond could believe it.
The elven warrior they were tracking was far too skilled at erasing any signs they had been there other then the dead bodies but the elf was starting to slow down. The riders were closing in. The bodies were fresh in this clearing. He felt the power of a Song of Hiding over this area. He felt his eyes slide away from the wall of ivy. There must be something over there. Elrond walked over there and parted the vines. The cave was dark but the weapons caught the light. The spear was well taken care of. It appeared that Lithum was indeed correct about the Elf being a Vanya male. He knew this elven warrior was in the cave. He called for a torch to be brought to him. Lithum brought it over to his lord and was shocked at the sight of the sleeping Vanya male in front of him. How enlightening...
