Squashed Like A Cockroach
I'll be putting my reasoning down for Mitsu rank, her score/points she got on the entrance exam, in the end notes. Trust me when I say that I thought long and hard on it all, and nearly started banging my head on the wall trying to realistically give out Rescue Points to her - as Rescue Points are given by a panel of judges. Meaning there is bias to them technically and can be argued about, as there are no clear cut rules to them like how Villain Points were.
Let me just say, I was honestly shocked when I finally came up with the points and saw what I got. But after all that work, I wasn't about to redo it all. So, the points are final!
Also, because the end notes are so long, I'll put the clothing that Mitsu is wearing in this chapter - besides her school uniform - up here to give everyone a visual just in case I don't explain it well enough.

If no one can tell, Mitsu is a total lolita - no matter in what life she is born in, lol!
Now, let's get this chapter on the road!
-Start Chapter-
"MY BABY'S ALL GROWN UP~!"
"GO! GO! MITSU-IMOUTO FOR THE WIN!"
"I'd say "Good luck" my dear, but I have a feeling you won't need it either way."
"Where did you even get that banner?"
"Haha! Man, Moji-Kun, you can really cry, can't you! You should be sending off Mitsu-Chan with a smile!"
"Kill them all Oneechan!"
"Oneesama......"
Mitsu sweat-dropped at all the commotion and scene before her as she stood in the living room of her and her father's apartment.
Her father was sobbing a storm up, tears looking like waterfalls as he cries into his hands. Yurei was laughing at him, grinning widely and slapping his back painfully. Shotto looked too amused by all the chaos, or was just that good at ignoring it all, and was calmly encouraging her. Omocha on the other hand, somehow either made or got a strawberry pink banner with the word "FIGHT" on it and had some white bunnies painted on it along with some strawberries. The teen was busy waving it around while chanting like crazy. Nami was looking at Omocha blankly after giving her a small nod in encouragement, bluntly asking in suspicion where Omocha pulled out the banner, because just seconds before, he didn't have it or have anywhere on him to hide it. Ken was jumping up and down in place, the five year old grinning in a bloodthirsty way. Sakura, on the other hand, stood still and whispered out words she couldn't really hear from all the yelling and noise. But she is sure it was words of good luck, she couldn't see Sakura saying anything mean to her.
The now fifteen year old girl couldn't help but feel warm at all this.
Because here was her makeshift family all in one place, cheering her on before she heads to U.A. for the Entrance Exams for the Hero Department.
'Otousan, Shotto-Ojisan, Yurei-Obasan, Omocha-Oniichan, Nami-Aniki, Ken-Kun, Sakura-Tan....' Mitsu flushed lightly, tightening the grip on the straps of her pastel pink bunny backpack. It had bunny ears, little bows under the ears and on one of the closed pockets in the front, and bunnies and sweets designed on it. It had been a good luck gift from Nami of all people. The teen had scoffed and wouldn't look her in the eyes while he gave it to her, making the others tease him to his annoyance. Even now, it filled her with warmth just thinking about it and her family.
"T-Thank yo-you!" Mitsu bowed at the waist, smiling and red faced all the whole. "I-I'll d-do my b-b-best!"
"Oneesama....is...already...the....best...." Sakura declared, tugging at their long white tunic-shirt.
"Yeah! Oneechan, you'll kill those fakers!" Ken grin was a little more than bloodthirsty, but his eyes showed just how much love and belief he had in the older girl. "You're the best hero there is!"
"I'm sure there are rules against sabotaging the other students, so I won't offer up advice on that front." Nami nonchalantly started to say, ignoring Mitsu jerking up to stare at him with wide eyes and how Moji stopped crying and was now laughing. "But, just be yourself. Do what you think is right - your instincts, your brain, your heart, has yet to steer you wrong in these type of things."
"Yeah, the written portion will be a breeze for you!" Yurei crossed her arms with a laugh. "And we all know that you take after your father in doing your own thing and having it work out for you somehow."
"What's that supposed to mean, Yurei-Oneechan?" Moji exaggeratedly pouted.
"It means that we're shocked that the two of you are so different from the rest of the masses without causing a massive revolution or riot with your radical thinking." Shotto bluntly stated without missing a beat. "But who knows? Mitsu-Chan is still young after all."
"I'll have you know that if Mitsu-Chan somehow starts a revolution or riot I'll be proud of her for sticking to her beliefs and fighting for them and others!" Moji quickly defended.
"You're just proving our point." Yurei pointed out slyly. "Besides, it's not like you're old either. Maybe you'll be the one to start something!"
"Yurei-Oneechan is so mean to me~!"
"Anyway, we know you'll do your best Mitsu-Chan." Shotto gently told the smaller teen over the two bickering adults. "And if those examiners know what's best for them, they'll see that too."
'Why does that sound like a threat.' Mitsu couldn't help but sweat-drop at that.
"Yeah! Mitsu-Imouto will fight and win!" Omocha wildly twirled the banner around like his life depended on it. "FIGHT! WIN! MITSU-IMOUTO FOR THE WIN!"
"Will you watch where you are swinging that thing!?" Nami growled out, swiftly dodging the banner while Ken tried swiping at it with Sakura just blandly staring at it. Omocha just laughed almost insanely, not stopping even as Nami tried hitting him. Shotto just kept his gentle smile over the chaos while Yurei soon got annoyed with them all, slapping them all across the head - forcing them to all crouch down and hold their heads in pain as a bump grew on it.
"Owww! I just wanted to cheer Mitsu-Imouto on!" Omocha cried out, holding the banner close as if it was a baby.
"Tch! This is your fault, Omocha-baka!" Nami groaned out in pain, scowling at the other teen.
"Watch who your hitting you ugly hag! Why didn't you slap Sakura anyway?!" Ken yelled out, pointing to the other five year old with a crossed look on his face.
"I.....didn't.....do......anything......" Sakura blandly stated, looking at Ken like he was stupid even with their blank face not even changing once.
"What did you just call me you brat?!" Yurei snapped, raising a shaking fist with a deep scowl.
"You heard me you UGLY HAG!" Ken snapped right back, snarling, showing off his sharp teeth. Yurei just snarled right back, rolling up her sleeve threateningly.
"Now, now, no fighting in the house!" Moji beamed at everyone, quickly getting into the fray before any blood could be spilled. "We should be sending Mitsu-Chan off with smiles, right?" Moji asked Yurei, cheerful smile and laughing eyes directed at her.
"Don't you toss my words back at me like that!"
"Such a lively bunch!" Shotto chuckled softly, not even looking phased at all the chaos.
Honestly, it was chaotic.
But, Mitsu loved it all the same. Loved them all the same, if not more, for it.
*Knock!*
"Oi!"
Everyone turned to the direction of the door, the chaos stopping for a moment.
"Mitsu-Chan! Lets all walk to U.A. together!"
"R-Ryuu-Kun!" Mitsu quickly started to walk to the door, only to pause and turn back to the group she called 'family'. "I-I'm off!"
"Come back safely~!" Moji cooed out, waving along with everyone else. "No matter what, you're our shinning light! Show everyone how bright you are, Mitsu-Chan!"
"Y-Yes!" Beaming, Mitsu quickly went to the front door. Putting on her shoes that came with the uniform, Mitsu mentally checked off if she had everything. Clothes and shoes for the practical portion, and supplies for the written portion. She wouldn't want to think they give her everything only to find out she had to bring her own pencil. Once her shoes were on, she buttoned up her pastel pink coat that was lined with white fur with detachable shawl. It was one of her favorites, as it had white bunnies on the sides, and the hood had bunny ears on them.
Once done, she quickly opened the door with a smile, seeing Ryuu, Nobu and Osamu all standing there, waiting for her in their uniforms, bags and jackets. Ryuu's jacket was a fiery red with gold designs on them, Nobu's was blue with sharks on them, and Osamu's was a plain black one.
"GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!"
Mitsu jerked her head back in shock, only for her cheeks to redden as she smiled.
Her whole family was there in the entrance way, waving at them all.
"Thanks everyone!" Ryuu and Nobu thanked as they both waved at them all, grinning as wide as they both could.
Osamu gave a short, polite bow in gratitude, his lips twitching up.
Giving one more smile, feeling lighter than ever before, Mitsu shut the door softly.
Truly, she couldn't have dreamed for a better family.
"Do you have everything? If not, then there's still time to get it." Osamu activated his Quirk, eyes glowing before shutting it off. "I have some water bottles for you and Nobu - you should drink some before the physical proportion to keep hydrated. Other than that, you are healthy."
"Such a worrywart, you did the same for me even though I'm not going through the same type of test." Ryuu chuckled, rolling his eyes good-naturally.
"I know! He's such a dad!" Nobu snickered into her hand at the mental picture of Osamu being surrounded by a bunch of little children and babies, all the while he still had his usual blank face.
"I'll remember that the next time you two come to me whining that you all need healing." Osamu frowned, pushing up his glasses before turning to Mitsu. "Come on Mitsu-Chan, let's leave these two idiots here. Maybe it was a foolish thought to think that U.A. would even accept such stupidity." With that, Osamu took Mitsu's hand, who didn't know if she should try and stop all this or start laughing at the dumbfounded and shocked looks Nobu and Ryuu had on their faces.
"Ach! No, I didn't mean it! I'm sorry, Osamu-Sama!" Nobu called out, quickly rushing after the two.
"I'm sorry Osamu-Sama! Please, forgive this foolish dragon!" Ryuu ran after them as well, nearly tripping on his face as he flared his wings to keep him steady. Osamu just sighed at them all while Mitsu giggled quietly.
Truly, she couldn't have asked for better friends either.
"Mitsu-Chan, can I hold your other hand?" Ryuu brightly asked, reaching out a hand to take her free one before Mitsu could answer. But, sadly for Ryuu, Nobu stretched out a hand and slapped it away.
"If anyone is holding Mitsu-Chan's free hand, it's going to be me!" Nobu smirked, reaching out for the hand only to jerk it away when a clawed hand swiped at her. "Hey!"
"Yeah, right! I'm going to hold her hand, not you!" Ryuu stuck out his tongue, wings flaring out.
"Please, she wouldn't want to hold your hand anyway! It's nothing but scales!"
"And like your plastic hand is any better, Barbie?!"
"I'll have you know that my skin is perfectly soft! And it's rubber, not plastic, you overgrown lizard!"
"Idiots." Osamu stated this as if it was a fact, not once looking behind him at his two bickering friends. "Plain, stupid, foolish idiots."
Even if said friends were insane, Mitsu couldn't have asked for better ones.
Glancing behind her, Mitsu mentally thanked them all. With them all acting like how they usually do, it made her worry less about the tests to come.
"B-But..." Mitsu glanced to Osamu with a shy smile. "T-They're ou-our i-idiots, Osamu-Nii."
"Hmmm. I guess you're right, Mitsu-Chan." Osamu hummed with a small smile as he pushed up his glasses with his friend.
"HA! YOU MISSED ME YOU BARBIE!"
"STAY STILL YOU GECKO!"
"Even though, I wish they were quiet idiots than loud idiots. With how loud they are, I can see us all getting kicked out of the exams within the first ten minutes if we're lucky. Less then one minute if I'm being realistic." Osamu sighed out, making Mitsu giggle and lightly shake her head at her friends' antics.
-------------------LATER; U.A. - PRACTICAL TEST FOR HERO DEPARTMENT---------------------
"Mitsu-Chan, how do you think you did on the written exams?" Nobu whispered to the teen sitting next to her in the dark room that had rows of seats. "I think I did okay - especially after all that studying we all did together. I still feel the pain from where Osamu-Kun kept hitting me in the head with those books when I messed up or didn't pay attention."
"I-I th-think I-I did.....f-fine." Mitsu finally settled one, sweat-dropping a bit as she recalled both Nobu and Ryuu getting hit on the head a lot because of their usual antics - most of them trying to get her attention in some way only for her to call for Osamu to help her and then leading up to Osamu hitting them across the head with whatever he had in his hands at the time, usually a book or notebook.
Biting her lip, she thought back to the written exams. Math she actually likes doing, so she thinks she did okay in it. English, well, she's fluent in it and it used to be her first language in her last life, so she most likely did fine in it. Japanese, she's not for sure. Even after so many years learning it, even with a leg up as she knew a bit from her last life, she doesn't think she's very good at it.
'I probably failed the whole thing.' Mitsu slumped into her chair, paling at the thought as she tugged at her middle school uniform's shirt. 'I shouldn't have came here......'
"Of course you did fine!" Nobu quietly laughed, brightly grinning. "You probably scored in the top ten! No - top five!"
'If only I could have your optimism!' Mitsu mentally sobbed while she gave a small smile to her friend. "I-I d-d-don't think I d-d-did, b-b-but th-thank y-you for th-think so."
"I hope that Ryuu-Kun is doing okay in his practical exam." Nobu hummed lightly, leaning back in her chair. "I'd say the same for Osamu-Kun's written exam....but....."
'We both know he did excellent on his exam.' Both Mitsu and Nobu mentally thought to themselves. Osamu was smart after all, genius level smart, all without a intelligence Quirk too. It's made more than a few others furious that he could out beat them in exams and tests without one, but it's awe-inspiring for others like Mitsu.
"Well, at least Osamu-Kun doesn't have a practical portion." Nobu sighed, eyes glancing around at all the other students in the big dark room. "Didn't he say he'll wait for us?"
"Y-Yes. S-S-S-So we c-c-can w-walk t-t-t-to Osamu-Nii's h-house t-t-together."
"Oh yeah, all our families are eating together!" Nobu beamed, nearly drooling at the thought of all that food as her eyes glazed over. "Papa said he'd cook up a storm! That means he'll make all his best dishes!"
Mitsu quietly giggled into her hand, only to freeze when some lights came on in the front. A large screen flickered on, showing the U.A. logo with a blue background that had the word 'Hero Academia' in lighter blue writing.
"For all you examinee listeners tuning in, welcome to my show today!" A man with long yellow hair jelled up and dressed in leather, sunglasses and headphones on poised in the front with a grin. Mitsu blinked when she realized who it was; Present Mic. Biting her lip, Mitsu finally realized that if she got into the Hero Department, she would be taught by actually Pro Heroes. Meaning that her father, Moji, was most likely going to be over the moon. Because it means that he can flirt with them all and see their reactions to his nicknames. Usually, he gives every teacher she has had a nickname of some kind - ones that are compliments. One part of her hopes that none of them react harshly to his harmless flirting, while the other part of her wonders what nicknames her father will come up with for her teachers. She guesses it will depend on the Pro Hero.
Leaning forward, Present Mic cupped a hand around his ear. "Everyone say 'Hey'!"
A moment of silence, but honestly, Mitsu knew her friends too well.
Mitsu didn't even flinch as suddenly Nobu jumped up with a grin. She knew it was coming. And honestly, if Ryuu was in the room, he'd do it too. Only with the both of them doing it, it'd probably turn into a yelling match of some kind, only ending with either her asking them too or Osamu forcing them too.
"HEY!" Nobu called out in excitement.
"YEAH! Such a great response!" Present Mic laughed with a grin, holding up two thumbs up. "Now, I'll quickly present to you the rundown on the practical exam!" Pointing out to the crowed, Present Mic called out once more. "Are you ready? YEAH!"
"YEAH!" Nobu was the only one to call right back, looking more pumped than ever. The only reason she sat back down was because Mitsu tugged her down, though it didn't stop her from calling right back - not that Mitsu tried to stop that. Honestly, it relaxes her a bit. It nearly killed her how close to silent the written exam had been, only the noise of others writing had made sure she didn't do some weird to get rid of the silence. At the very least, she knows that this portion of the exam will have noise.
"THAT'S RIGHT!" Present Mic beamed at Nobu before raising a hand, leaning back where he stood as he took in everyone. "As it says in the application requirements, you listeners will be conducting ten-minute mock urban battles after this!"
The screen behind the man changed, showing a layout of the different battle centers.
"You can bring whatever you want with you. After the presentation, you'll head to the specified battle center, okay?"
Glancing down at her exam ticket, Mitsu saw that she was to go to battle center B. Nibbling on her lip, Mitsu could only feel glad that she brought a first-aid kit with her and that it was able to fit within a small pouch that she could put around her waist. She could see the fighting going bad in a lot of ways - her imagination not really helping her any.
"Aw~! We're not in the same battle center?" Nobu pouted, glancing to her own ticket which showed Battle Center D.
"T-They p-p-probably d-d-don't want the s-same p-p-people f-f-f-from school o-or fr-friends w-working to-together." Mitsu whispered aloud in thought, making Nobu softly hum.
"Yeah, if we were in the same battle center, we'd probably work together and make it unfair for everyone else." Nobu rubbed the back of her neck with a chuckle. "But that a good thing! That we work together so well, I mean. Just means that when we're older, we'll make a great team along with Osamu-Kun and Ryuu-Kun."
Mitsu could only smile before they both had to turn their attention back to the front. The screen changing once more to show a small city and the type of fake villains they would be facing.
"Three different types of faux villains are stationed in each battle center." Present Mic explained, gesturing with his hands. "You earn points for each of them based on their level of difficulty. Your goal, dear listeners, is to use your Quirks to earn points by immobilizing the faux villains."
'This exam....is really biased, isn't it?' Mitsu frowned to herself in thought. 'It's more geared towards those with combative Quirks, or ones with a lot of power in them. People with intelligent Quirks, healing Quirks, non-combative Quirks, and no Quirks at all would have a lot of trouble with this. I'm going to have trouble with this, my Quirk isn't made to destroy things.' Licking her lip, Mitsu could feel her hopes, not just for her but for many others, go down. 'While my Quirk might be nothing short of trash, a lot of other Quirks and people without Quirks could do a lot of good but can't because of this. Dreams are dying because of this. This exam here.....it's limiting and cutting off people who don't have the type of Quirk designed for this type of exam.....'
It made Mitsu wonder if anyone has ever pointed this out before, or was too afraid to because this was U.A., the best school around. It also made her wonder if this exam helped feed into the racism and discrimination against certain type of Quirks. Making some Quirks be seen as 'Heroic' and others as 'Villainess', and making those who are Quirkless seem lesser for not having a Quirk - which, in her mind is stupid. A Quirk is a tool at most, like a gun in a way only most people are born with it. A person is more than their Quirk, it doesn't and shouldn't define them. Someone with an amazing Quirk could be a horrible person after all. And someone Quirkless could be the kindest person out there. It could also be the opposite. Both are still human, both can be both strong and weak. Both could be Heroes, both could be Villains, both could be civilians. Yet, because of something out of their control, people see it differently.
Not for the first or last time, Mitsu wondered just how dark society is without anyone realizing it. Luckily, before her thoughts could spiral down and make her question the entire world she was reincarnated into, Present Mic started talking once more.
"Of course, attacking other examinees and any other unheroic actions are prohibited!" Present Mic warned, pointing out to the crowd with a grin.
'"unheroic" is very vague though, that can mean different things to different people - everyone has different morals!' Mitsu could only hope that she didn't do something stupid. Oh, who was she kidding, she's most likely to kicked out only a few seconds in. At least she knows Nobu was going to get into the Hero Department. Maybe if she trains enough, she can try to get a Hero License after a few years?
More than likely she'll fail that too. But, hey, at least she would have tried. And she will try. Over and over again until she is too old to do so, dead or they force her to stop. Because no matter what, she wants to help. Not just save, but help.
Suddenly, someone in the middle row shot up, hand in the air. Jerking, Mitsu blinked as a male teen started to call out.
"May I ask a question?"
"Okay!" Present Mic pointed to the teen. A light coming to life above the teen, showing the teen to be male, dressed in a more expensive middle school uniform than her own, with neat short dark blue hair and wearing glasses.
The teen pointed to the printout handed out to each student. "On the printout, there are four types of villains." Many students looked down at their own printouts at this fact, not having noticed it before or having forgotten about it. "If this is a misprint, then U.A., the most prominent school in Japan, should be ashamed of that foolish mistake."
"He sounds a bit like Osamu-Kun." Nobu pointed out with a teasing grin, making Mitsu sweat-drop in slight agreement.
Only slight agreement, because she knows that Osamu would be more blunt and wouldn't say it so politely. Doesn't matter if it's a well known Pro Hero or not, he'll say it like it is and not mince words, and all of it with a blank face too. Adding insult to injury.
"We examinees are here in this place because we wish to be molded into exemplary heroes." The teen went on to say, putting a fist to his heart.
"Sounding nothing like Osamu-Kun now." Nobu giggled into her hand, making Mitsu nod. Osamu wouldn't have cared about that at all, he'd just say something harsh about U.A.'s so called 'prestigious' if it was actually a misprint. For someone who wants to become a doctor and Pro Hero, he doesn't really have that great of a bedside etiquette.
"In addition, you over there with a curly hair--" The teen pointed somewhere behind him, before pointing over to the right where Nobu and Mitsu sat. "And you with the long silver hair! You've both been muttering the whole time. It's distracting! If you're here to have a pleasure trip, then you should leave immediately!"
Mitsu froze and then in a fit of pure panic as laughs filled the air. Worst case scenarios entering her head. So, because she did not want to see her friend get kicked out for being 'distracting', Mitsu did something she thought she would never do. Luckily too, as Nobu was a second away from getting up and starting a yelling match.
"A-A-AREN'T Y-Y-Y-YOU BEING V-VERY DIS-DISTRACTING AND R-R-RUDE RIGHT NOW?!" Mitsu stuttered out loudly, making the whole place go silent.
Nobu blinked before grinning at her friend, feeling warm at the fact that Mitsu defended her.
The teen on the other hand, flinched back and his jaw dropped, as if this thought never entered his head before. Mitsu, on the other hand, hid her face in her hands as it went bright red in embarrassment for saying it so loud.
"Okay, okay, Examinee Number 7111." Present Mic gestured for the teen to quiet down once he had the boys attention. "Thanks for noticing that. The fourth type of villain is worth zero points. that guy's an obstacle, so to speak. There's one in every battle center - An obstacle that will go crazy in narrow spaces. It's not impossible to defeat, but there's no reason to defeat it either. I recommend that you listeners try to avoid it."
'But, if the big robot represents a person causing trouble, just a more powerful one, then isn't there a reason to stop it?' Mitsu frowned, thinking about it. 'Lives could be lost, and even the big villain could get hurt if not stopped. So, why give say that?'
The teen bowed at a respectful 90%. "Thank you very much! Please excuse the interruption!" Then the teen sat back down, the light above him going out.
"This whole thing reminds me of a video game...." Nobu tapped a finger to her chin in thought. Mitsu fiddled with her fingers, mentally hoping that the school was smarter than to just copy a video game and let other types of people fail at the exam because of that. She'd think that they would be smarter than that, but then again, a lot of people without combative Quirks will be left behind. It wasn't like robots were easy to punch without one after all.
"That's all for me!" Present Mic opened his arms. "Finally, I'll give you listeners a present - our school motto!"
"The hero Napoleon Bonaparte once said; "A true hero is someone who overcomes life's misfortunes." Go beyond. Plus Ultra!" Present Mic cried out, raising his arms up just as the screen changed to show 'Plus Ultra' as well.
"Now, everyone, good luck suffering!"
"S-S-Sounds like s-s-something Yurei-Obasan w-w-would say...." Mitsu whispered as she lightly shook in anticipation and worry. Nobu snorted in agreement.
------------LATER; BATTLE CENTER B--------------
Biting her lip, Mitsu shifted in the back of the crowd. Glancing around shyly, she saw that mostly everyone had on track suits. Glancing down at her own clothing, Mitsu knew she stood out. In her purple shirt with a folded down collar, almost like a shawl, that had lace on the ends, tied in the front and sleeves that only went down to her elbows, cream colored shorts with small beads and designs on the side, ancle frilly white socks, and low heel white shoes that had buckled straps and bows on the front, Mitsu knew that to the others she might not look ready.
Well, the first-aid pack, a small one, strapped to her waist might not look out of the place for a person trying to become a hero. It says a lot that she seems to be the only one with one on her though.
But, the main thing is, is that Mitsu is used to moving around in taller heels and heavier and more restrictive looking clothing. Dancing and gymnastics has given her the chance to be able to practice moving, running, or doing the near impossible in heels of all heights and clothing that look impossible to even move in. It took a ton of practice and all her ability to even get to the level of balance needed to do that, and even now she's still not the best at it, but she can do it if push comes to shove. So, in the outfit she was in now, Mitsu actually thought it was fine.
Maybe not the best. For sure not perfect. But fine.
Then, she was thrown out of her thoughts when movement in front of her caught her attention.
The teen she had yelled at was now holding the shoulder of the curly haired teen. The curly head was freaking out, and it looked like the other teen was just about to say something.
Paling, Mitsu took a quick step back, making the dark blue haired teen eyes snap to her. Going wide eyed, the purple haired girl prayed that he didn't snap at her for pretty much yelling at him before. Instead, the teen frowned, look down for a moment, then let go of the curly haired boy. Then, he started walking to the front of the crowd without even saying anything. Both the curly haired teen and Mitsu blinked, having no idea what just happened, but both glad that they didn't get yelled at or worse.
"Okay, start!"
Everyone heads jerked up to see Present Mic standing on top of a large pillar, looking down at them with a grin. "What's wrong? There are no countdowns in real fights! Run, run! The die has been cast, you know!"
With that, everyone started rushing through the gate, Mitsu making sure to stay in the back out of fear of being trampled on.
The true test has began.
-----------------------------FIVE MINUTES LEFT--------------------------------
In hindsight, Mitsu thought she would be panicking more.
People running around haphazardly, Quirks everywhere, and robots of three different kinds doing everything they can to cause chaos. Everything about it made her heart pump faster and faster, making her want to just curl up and cry.
But, with all this chaos, all the hazards that both robots and humans are making, makes for various injuries. And if there is one thing she learned while becoming a certified first responder, it was that a second wasted could mean someone living or dying. No matter how much Mitsu just wanted to hide away and cry, she couldn't leave others to get hurt. Not when she can help them, even if it's just giving them a band-aid, helping them out of the way, or using her Quirk to stop the robots in place when it looked to be too much for others, and thus letting them destroy them.
She's pretty sure she has no points right now, but as a worthless piece of trash, helping others is more than a reward.
Throughout the first five minutes of the exam, she had carefully used her Quirk to stop five 3 point robots. Said robots were too close to either harming another teen, one actually looking like it was going to crush another, and she let others take the points by destroying them. Because of Ryuu, Mitsu knew where to aim her Quirk to deal the most damage. By damage, she means stick them still with only a few spheres from her head, thus making sure her skull isn't bleeding up a storm. One or two for the bottom of the robots, making it impossible to move, a few for each arm so it can't attack that way, and can't forget the head of course, that way it can't see or scan anything.
Also during the first five minutes, she helped three people who were harmed in various ways - one having a minor concussion for example - out of the way and as safe as they could be given the semi-controlled chaos all around them. It was injuries that she couldn't really help with, not with the medical supplies she had and the time limit, only check them over quickly before moving them to a safer spot.
And, right now, she was helping a girl get her dislocated shoulder back in place.
And because of there being nowhere the girl can lay down and have her arm hang, thus letting Mitsu be able to use the Arm Hang method, it only left a few options. One making a sling of some type and then getting the girl to relative safely - waiting until an actual doctor was able to look at it. But at that option, the girl shook her head sobbing at the pain, sobbing out that she wanted it back in place right now, that she didn't think she would be able to handle the pain and was slowly starting to go into a full panic.
Mitsu couldn't have that, as going into a panic attack would lead to the teen harming herself further - maybe even leading to broken bones or worse. And as she has gotten consent to aid the teen, this means that Mitsu is able to do anything in her power to heal and/or help the other. But, there are only so much options left for her to be able to put the dislocated shoulder back in place.
The only two left that she could think of were the Arm Pull or the Arm Rotation. The Arm Rotation actually produces strong torque - enough to break a bone. It left too many openings, more than the others, for Mitsu to feel comfortable enough to do that method in the type of situation and area they are in. Thus, the Arm Pull it is.
She carefully got the other teen to lay down on her back, softly talking to her about what she was doing as to help calm her down, and then slowly started to guide the arm on the injured side horizontally away from the body until it's about forty-five degrees from her side. Never jerking, not forcing it. Slowly, gently, and carefully.
Once the arm was in place, Mitsu grabbed the teen's hand and started to pull it towards her, steadily and firmly. Making sure to stay at the forty-five degree angle, Mitsu gently placed her foot on the teen's side as to push against her side, giving her a little more leverage. As she is trying to get the muscle to give enough that the head of the humerus moves beyond the lip of the shoulder cup, she doesn't need to pull as hard as she can.
Biting her lip, Mitsu kept at it until -
*POP*
Sighing in relief, Mitsu slowly and gently placed the arm down on the ground now that the shoulder was back in place. Helping the teen up, who was now lightly crying in relief, she used the teen's track jacket to make a makeshift sling.
"Y-You ne-need t-t-to see a do-doctor as s-s-soon as y-you can." Mitsu stated as firmly as she can as she took a step back from the teen, keeping a close eye on the girl to make sure that she is steady. "U-U-Until th-then, d-d-don't us-use your sh-shoulder or a-arm. I-I-If you h-have to se-see one a-a-after th-the exam or a f-f-few da-days fr-from now, ke-keep it ic-iced and t-t-take some o-over th-the co-counter pa-pain med-medicine a-as n-needed."
"Thank you!" The girl beamed as she wiped away her tears with her uninjured hand. "I really hope you pass the exam. No one else would have stopped and helped me so much!"
Flushing, Mitsu quickly waved off the complement, knowing that she was most likely going to fail because of her lack of destroyed robots to her name, and either have to work her way up from the General Studies or take the Pro Hero Exam later on her own to get a license. If she can even pass it or work her way up that is.
Honestly, she doesn't have high hopes for herself. But here she is, being selfish enough to try.
The teen just gave a winded giggle before hurrying off, most likely to head to the gates or a safer area as to not get more injured.
Shaking off her thoughts, Mitsu quickly went deeper into the fake yet very realistic city. For a moment while she was running, keeping an eye out for anybody needing help, she couldn't help but wonder how much money goes into repairs and the robots themselves. And how they pay for them. Is it taxpayers and student fees, or donations? A mix? Or something else? A question she'll have to look up the answer for later.
"ARH!"
Without even thinking about it, Mitsu swiftly turned to the left, running into a new street and towards the pained yell.
When she realized what she seeing, her eyes went wide.
Three robots, one 2 Pointer and two 3 Pointers, surrounded a person. Said person was down, and she couldn't really see them, but obviously, they were in pain of some kind or distracted. Maybe both.
Raising her hands quickly, Mitsu pulled out some spheres and started throwing as accurately as she possibly can while running towards the robots and fallen person. As soon as she was close, Mitsu used her gymnastic training to her advantage. Flipping a few times, she used the momentum and speed she built up to push herself up, doing a big flip right over the group of struggling robots that couldn't move all that much. Twirling in the air, it was only because of how many times she practiced that made sure she landed on her feet safely.
As soon as her feet touched the ground, Mitsu's head quickly sought out the injured person - seeing it was a teen with a bird head and red eyes who was staring at her in pure shock. Resembling a crow or raven.
And, because she was just that much of a clueless fuck up, she made everything worse as soon as she opened her mouth.
"I-I LIKE Y-YOUR FE-FEATHERS!" Mitsu nearly screamed, some blood dripping off her scalp from overuse of her Quirk.
'Oh my Kami-Sama! I sounded like a weirdo and pervert!' Mitsu's eyes nearly popped out of her head as she mentally scolded herself, face going bright red. 'Who just says that to another person without any warning? I sounded like a creep!'
"Wh-What?" The bird teen sputtered with wide eyes, feathers looking ruffled. "Thank you....?" The teen looked very confused, and honestly, Mitsu didn't blame him a bit. But then the teen made to get up, only to flinch when he tried to move his left foot. That reminded Mitsu what she should have been doing as soon as she landed on her feet.
Rushing to the teen, she quickly knelled down next to him.
"I-I a-a-am a tr-trained f-f-first r-r-r-responder, pl-please l-l-let me h-help you!" Mitsu rushed out, already opening her first-aid bag around her waist. From how the other moved, it was either his leg, ankle, or foot that is injured in some way. The other also isn't in a lot of pain, or just that has a high pain tolerance, or maybe his own Quirk is dulling the pain in some way.
The teen just blinked, and Mitsu took it for agreement. The teen might be in shock from everything.
Gently poking the other's leg, she felt nothing off about it. Meaning, the bone most likely wasn't dislocated or broken. Tugging up his pant leg, Mitsu saw the issue right away. His ankle was red and swollen.
"I-I'm g-g-going t-to t-t-touch your an-ankle. P-Please le-let me kn-know if wh-where th-the pa-pain i-is o-on a scale o-of on-one th-through t-ten." Softly and gently moving the other's ankle around, Mitsu couldn't feel anything broken into two or little shards - and the teen isn't screaming in pain, so this leads her to think it's just a sprained ankle.
"Three...." The teen grunted out, eyes squinting in pain. Mitsu nodded with a hum, reaching out to pull out some medical tape or bandages, only to freeze when she heard something loud coming towards their location.
Another 3 pointer was headed their way. And with the other three robots currently stuck in place, they have all exits blocked. Mitsu could do some gymnastics to get out, but that would leave the boy unprotected. She couldn't let that happen.
Just as she made to get up, two things happened.
One, was the boy scowling and calling out "DARK SHADOW!" that lead to a dark bird, that looked to be made out of shadows of all things, coming out from the boy, rushing to destroy the three robots that blocked their escape.
the second thing was another teen, a rather large and strong looking one with six arms that were attached together with a web of skin, came falling down onto the robot, quickly destroying it with his apparent strength.
Only Osamu's Grandmother's strict training made it sure that Mitsu, while keeping an ear and eye out on everything, just went right back to work. Pulling out the elastic bandages, she got to wrapping the ankle up. Compressing it to help with the swelling.
"Are you two alright?" The new comer asked, quickly running up to them. Before the other boy could answer him, Mitsu rattled off what he needed to know about his injury. These two were losing time for the exam after all.
"Y-You ha-have a s-sprained a-ankle. I-I k-know th-the ex-exam is im-important, b-b-but be careful. Y-You sh-should ke-keep off of i-it as mu-much as p-p-possible. I-Ice i-it for fifteen t-to twenty m-minutes e-every t-two to th-three h-house w-while awake. K-Keep it e-elevated w-when y-you can and c-compression h-helps w-with swelling. I-It's on-only a g-grade on-one sprain, s-so i-it sh-should be f-fine in f-five to fo-fourteen days." Mitsu rattled off as she finished wrapping the ankle tightly, but not so tight that it cuts off circulation, and standing up. Turning, she was met with the tall teen with six arms, grey hair, and a mask.
And because she really couldn't keep her mouth shut, she opened her mouth and said "I-I li-like your mask!"
Why did her father even let her out of the house? She was a black mark and brought shame on to the family just by breathing.
Luckily, the boy just chuckled warmly, eyes crinkling showing that he was smiling behind his mask. "Thank you."
"Ah, yes, thank you." The other teen slowly got up, making sure not to put some much weight on his ankle. Slowly putting it down, he sighed once there was no pain.
Mitsu opened her mouth to say something, only to squeak a bit when the small dark bird-like shadow, went to her. It was in front of her face, yellow eyes beaming at her.
"U-Um....hello..." Mitsu gave a small smile. "Y-You l-look v-very ha-handsome!"
And truly, even if it wasn't an actual bird, the shadow did look like a very handsome bird. A very strong and handsome bird, because she just saw it/her/he/whatever gender identity it had, destroy three robots all on it's own in one fell swoop.
The shadow puffed out, obviously preening and showing off. The bird headed teen groaned, rubbing his face. "Dark Shadow, stop this foolishness at once!"
Giggling a little, Mitsu was about to leave when all of a sudden, the ground started shaking. Steadying herself as best as she can, Mitsu paled when a huge thing of dirt and dust started to raise - making her realize that someone was either coming out of the ground, or someone hit the ground hard enough for it to raise up. Either or could lead to dangerous injuries and even deaths. The second option because that could lead to an avalanche effect which speaks for itself, the first option because who knows what could be coming out of the ground.
Mitsu soon got her answer on what could come out of the ground - and she wished she never asked in the first place.
"What in the-!" The bird teen gasped out as a huge, taller than the buildings, robot came into view.
"We need to move!" The tallest teen stated urgently, quickly moving the destroyed robot pieces that surrounded them out of the way.
"W-We n-need to r-run th-that way!" Mitsu pointed to behind her, down the street. After watching it, Mitsu noticed quickly where the robot was heading. "I-It's g-g-going the o-other way!"
"Right!" The grey haired teen and bird faced teen agreed, both not wanting to run towards a giant robot that could kill them easily. Mitsu had to wince at the sight of all the damage the giant robot was doing before she turned and started running right behind the other two boys. The grey haired one was further than the other one and herself, but Mitsu chalked that up to being taller and having better stamina. Or, just being better than her in general. But she made sure to stay behind the injured teen just in case his swollen ankle acted up in any way. While she might not be much help, she could help him stand and run in a pinch.
After running for a while, Mitsu noticed a shadow coming down when she glanced down. A loud noise caught her attention. While still running, she turned her head only to go wide eyed in horror.
Somehow, in someway, that giant robot was falling.
Falling backwards.
Jerking her head to look forwards, Mitsu quickly noticed that while the grey haired teen was out of the way once the robot fell, unless some pieces come flying off once it hits, she and the other teen are not.
'This is my fault! I told them to run this way!'
In just a few seconds, Mitsu came to some hard truths.
The first truth was that she could easily pick up her pace and get out of the falling zone. But doing so meant leaving the other teen.
The second truth was that, in that moment, there was a huge chance she was going to die.
Because, the third and final hard truth, was that in the end, Mitsu knew it was all her fault and she couldn't just not help.
Couldn't leave someone else to be hurt or die.
With all this in mind, Mitsu rushed forwards. Diving, just as the teen turned to look up at the falling robot with wide eyes, Mitsu pushed the teen as hard as she could.
The last thing Mitsu saw was wide red eyes staring into her own black ones in pure shock.
Then her fears came to take her away.
Darkness and silence.
---------------------------------------------------------
Osamu's head snapped up from where he sat in one of the chairs in one of the waiting rooms in U.A., eyes going wide.
Pushing up his glasses with hand, he noticed his own hand shaking lightly. Narrowing his eyes into a glare, Osamu knew deep within him, that something.....
'Something.....is wrong.'
----------------------------------------------------------
*CRACK*
Ryuu stared blankly down at one of the tools he just broke. His own exam having ended just moments ago, so luckily for him, this wouldn't count against him. But, he couldn't care about that.
Head lifting up, a snarl came alive on his face. Sniffing the air, Ryuu's eyes went into slits.
"Something smells..........!"
Quickly turning around, he started stalking to the waiting area to be with Osamu - wanting nothing more than to see all his friends in once piece. Because he knew that Osamu would be fine, and that he, himself, was fine. Something was stirring in the air, something was wrong. Right now, nothing was fine. And he and Osamu were fine. So that left only two things that could be wrong.
'Mitsu-Chan, Nobu-Chan.....you two better be alright!'
------------------------------------------------------------
"YEAH-!"
Cutting off her yell mid-way, Nobu froze where she stood on top of a now destroyed 3 Pointer robot. Head shooting up, her eyes swiftly took in all the smoke, the dust in the air, the dirt, the screams sounding out, and how everyone was scrambling around.
Something hurts.
Not on her body. But something inside of her hurts.
Osamu was waiting for her and Mitsu to be done.
Ryuu was in a exam that didn't have a combative portion to it.
That only left one person.
"Mitsu-Chan......."
------------------------------------------------------------
"Oh my Kami-Sama......" Tokoyami Fumikage breathed out, staring in horrified shock at the fallen robot. Or, more technically, at the arm that pushed him out of the way.
'Why.....Why did she push me out of the way!? She could have easily ran past me or out of the way!' Panic boiling up into his chest, Tokoyami could only be thankful it was so bright inside the battle center. If not, then Dark Shadow would be tearing through the place without care. For now, he could feel Dark Shadow inside of hims stirring harshly, but not coming out just yet.
Footsteps sounded out, and a blur rushed past him. Flinching back, Tokoyami saw that it was the other teen, the one with six arms.
The strong teen grunted, trying to lift the robot even a little bit to try and get the gril out from under there.
But then, when it moved a bit, Tokoyami noticed something.
"Stop!" Scrambling to stand up, Tokoyami nearly crawled to the robot and the teen. He quickly knelt down, hands out but not knowing what to do with them. "You might be hurting her more - look-!"
Slowly, the other teen looked down.
Paling and with wide eyes, both boys could feel their hearts stop.
Crimson red was slowly seeping out from under the giant robot, coating the grey haired boy's feet and Tokoyami's knees from where he knelt by the robot. The pale arm and hand not even twitching as it pooled around it and out.
"MEDIC! WE NEED A MEDIC!" The tall teen started yelling out, just as an alarm set off, letting everyone know that the exam was over. "PLEASE! A MEDIC! A DOCTOR! ANYONE!" He tried yelling with all his might, hoping that any teacher watching would notice the commotion, as many other students weren't paying him any mind. Them being too far away from the robot to even notice, and crowding around something else or someone else.
Tokoyami, on the other hand, could only hear nothing. Only white noise was in his ears as he looked at the arm, the very hand, that pushed him out of the way as blood tainted the pale skin and his own clothes. Slowly, his eyes traveled up the arm, to the body it was still connected to that was trapped underneath the giant robot.
'Is this.....' Tokyoami hesitated for a moment, hand slowly reaching out. '....what it means to be a Pro Hero? Putting yourself in deep inconceivable danger no matter what it might be? Willing to do anything to help another even if it's just bandaging their injuries up? Giving up your life for another?'
Stopping just an inch away from the hand, Tokoyami dryly gulped. He blankly noticed his own hand, the one so close to the too still hand, shaking.
It wasn't flashy what she did for him. She obviously didn't have a strong, flashy Quirk that could take down whole armies of robots.
{Wide black eyes stared into his own wide red ones as both fell in different directions - her, down. Him, forward and out of the way. A hand outstretched, eyes filled with worry, relief, fear, guilt, and compassion unlike any other were soon gone.
Even with the eyes gone from his sight, he couldn't help but think of those eyes.
All Might has a powerful smile that never wavers - saving everyone with that very smile.
But this girl......those eyes are deeper and more powerful than any smile All Might could give him.
They shined so brightly, piercing right through his own dark aura and into his very soul.
She was looking right through him before that robot fell, shinning like a star in the everlasting darkness. And for a moment, he wonders if she had a second Quirk unlike the one he saw her use before.}
Yet, Tokoyami knew deep within his very soul, that he was just saved by not a Hero, but a angel.
Only someone so selfless could come from Kami's land. Anyone else would have just ran past him and left him. Hell, anyone wouldn't have stopped to tend to his wounds in the middle of such a huge exam that would help decide their future. Yet, this very girl did that and so much more for him.
It might be the shock that hasn't left him yet, only getting worse and it having muddled his very mind, but he found it in himself to take the hand that was still outstretched. Taking it, he could only sigh in relief when he noticed it was still warm. A slow and faint pules he could feel under his own fingertips filling him with hope instead of just leaving him numb.
'If U.A. doesn't accept you, then truly, this is not a school for aspiring Heroes.' Tokoyami could feel Dark Shadow rumbling inside of him in agreement.
"Recovery Girl-!"
"I needed that robot lifted yesterday! Why do we even still have that as part of the exam anyway!? Don't answer that! You! The students are cleared away besides these three, right?"
"Yes!"
"Should I help-"
"You can help me by caring this poor boy! He's gone into shock, the poor dear. Can't blame him though. Where are those stretcher robots?! And you, you've done enough deary, thank you for trying to lift this heavy thing. Why don't you come here so I can heal you up?"
"Please, save your energy for the others, I'm not injured. But the other two-!"
So much chaos surrounded him. A mad banquet of darkness was all around him.
Is it any wonder that he couldn't help but not look away from the piece of light in that he selfishly held within his own hand?
-----------------------LATER-------------------------
Blinking her eyes opening, she blearily stared up at a white ceiling blackly before a elderly face came into view.
"Ah, Minoru-Chan, you're awake!" The face beamed down at her before glancing up at something else. "Seems your Quirk really did help, Rin-Kun. It's an amazing Quirk! Are you planning to become a Pro Hero too?"
"Yes. But I'm trying to get into the Management Department. That way I can run a Hero Agency while also being a Pro much like yourself in a way." A deep, smooth voice stated factually, but with a underlying hint of relief in it.
"I see!" The face looked back at her, a gentle smile on the face. But, before anything more could be said, she had to know.
"The....o-o-others......okay.....? She couldn't feel herself talking. It was as if having an out of body experience in a way.
"Ah, you're one of those types. My, you'll be giving me trouble later on, won't you!" The person above her laughed gently. A glint in their eyes. "But don't fret. You're heroic actions saved that boy and kept the other safe."
"W-Wasn't......heroic....." She felt numb, couldn't feel her body. "W-Was.....r-r-right......t-t-to do....any-anyone...would..h-have....."
A hand reached out and took her's. It felt rough. Not like skin.
"You're surly getting into the Hero Department!" A loud, rough voice sniffed out.
"N-No.....on-only s-s-stopped......ro-robots.....l-let o-o-others.....de-destroy.....them....." Her eyes felt heavy. "O....Others.....n-n-needed....h-h-help.....m-more.....I....f-f-failed....."
One hand lightly touched her cheek, another grabbed her other hand.
"It'll be alright." A strong, light voice stated with a slight sob in it. "Doesn't matter if you fail here, you can still be a Hero because you are one already!"
"That's right." The face above her nodded with a slight chuckle. "Really! This is the first time I've heard of a student stopping robots for others to destroy because they needed help or were in trouble. Let alone the rest of the things she did. Truly, you are going to give me so much trouble!" Laughing, the face shook their head. "Now, she'll be tired for a while. But that's just my Quirk at work. It took a lot of energy to heal her up, and the only reason she doesn't have bandages all around her is because of you, Rin-San. Let her relax for a few days. She needs it."
"We understand."
"Yeah, thanks Recovery Girl!"
"Don't worry, we're her best friends, we'll keep her safe!"
"Good. Now, I had a teacher get her things she brought-"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mitsu didn't know when she closed her eyes again.
But, later, she wakes up on her bed late at night, her best friends all asleep around her, and her father sleeping in a chair in the corner. Light music playing in the background.
Glancing around, Mitsu bit her lip, tears coming to life.
She failed her friends.
She failed her family.
She failed the exam.
Yet, even in the face of all that......
She can't find it in herself to regret her actions.
The only thing that really shocks her is that she didn't die from having that huge robot fall on her. But, even trash has some purpose it seems. Maybe Kami took pity on her.
Taking in a deep breath, Mits closed her eyes once more. Listening closely to the breathing surrounded her and the music softly playing.
'For someone who got zero points and failed the biggest exam ever......I'm happy. Happy that those people I helped are alright. And that's all that matters - that they are alright and alive. But I'm sorry everyone! I'm sorry that I failed you all!'
Silently crying, Mitsu let sleep take her once more. Knowing that when the results come in, she was going to prove how much of a failure she truly was.
-----------------------------------------------
"I am here as a projection!" All Might, the number one Pro Hero himself, stood in the projection, dressed in a yellow three-piece pin suit.
Mitsu was frozen where she sat on the couch, her whole family surrounding her. A week later, her letter from U.A. came in.
Now, her family will truly see her as the trash she is.
"I am happy to say that you passed the written exam with high scores - fourth place in fact!" All Might's face beamed at her from the projection, her family cheering at this only to hush themselves once the Pro Hero started talking once more. "For the practical exam, you got 23 Villain Points. While this alone would make sure you pass - there is a surprise! The exam was not only graded by Villain Points!"
Going wide eyed, heart beating fast, Mitsu's mouth parted open in shock as suddenly, the projection showed her helping others. Her stopping robots for others to either destroy or get away from, her helping others get out of the way, her putting that girl's shoulder back into place, her wrapping up the bird head teen's sprained ankle, and finally, her pushing said teen out of the way.
Her father's arms that were wrapped around her tightened.
"How can a hero course reject others who save others and do the right thing?" The Pro Hero asked once he was back in the projection. "This job is all about saving others! All about putting your life on the line and doing the right things when others can not or will not! Rescue Points!" All Might's grin grew if that was possible, sounding as if he was in awe by what he said next. "Minoru Mitsu, 102 Rescue Points! In total; 125 Points!"
Going slack, Mitsu couldn't believe what she was hearing. All around, her family cheered and cried out in happiness.
"Minoru Mitsu, you pass! You went beyond Plus Ultra!" All Might reached out a hand. "Minoru Mitsu,no - Young Hero. Welcome to your hero academia!"
"I.....p-passed...." Mitsu whispered in awe, tears slowly going down her cheeks.
"MY BABY PASSED! I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT!" Moji laughed, holding the very girl he was talking about close to his chest as she cried.
"125 Points, huh." Nami scoffed with a smirk. "That's got to burn at some people that Mitsu blew them all out of the water. Good."
"You didn't just kill them Oneechan!" Ken jumped up and down, excitement in his voice as his completely red eyes sparkled. "You slaughtered them!"
"Oneesama......." Sakura's lips twitched up, eyes becoming a bit less dull in their happiness.
"YEAH! YOU WENT, YOU FOUGHT, YOU WON THE WHOLE BATTLE AND WAR!" Omocha yelled out with a huge grin, looking more happy than ever as he started dancing around. Yueri laughed as well with a huge grin, joining him in his dancing.
"Mitsu-Chan beat all their asses!" Yueri laughed, twirling around in pure joy.
"And all without a combative Quirk too." Shotto hummed lightly before chuckle in joy. "Seems the school isn't as foolish as I thought they would be. Mitsu-Chan, you are truly a marvel."
Glancing around at her very happy family, Mitsu smiled through the tears.
While she's sure that someone must have gotten higher points than her, she's relived.
Today wasn't the day that her family finds out that she is just a worthless piece of nothing that deserves to die.
Today, instead, was the day that she finds out that she was one step closer to the end of the road she chose.
Today, instead, Mitsu found that her selfishness knew no bounds.
As, right now, even though she doesn't deserve to be, she is happier than she has ever been before in her life.
Closing her eyes, Mitsu smiled even as the tears still fell.
Truly, she couldn't have asked for a better family than this.
-End Chapter-
Yeah, Tokoyami went into pretty deep shock after Mitsu saved him. Getting kinda lost in his own mind for a bit. But, honestly, I would too if that happened to me. Or worse than that....most likely I'd be worse.
Fun fact; Originally, it was only going to be a piece of the big robot that would fall onto Mitsu. But, after watching the episode multiple times, it hit me that the robot could have landed on someone because of how it fell. Or a building, as it did quite a bit of collateral damage going down too. So, the whole robot fell onto Mitsu - as realistically, I can see that happening more as the robot didn't break into many pieces.
I did way too much math for this chapter too! I mean, I had to calculate points on the practical of the entrance exam for Mitsu. Which is a hard thing to do, as Rescue points are given out by a panel of judges. I wasn't even thinking about where this would place Mitsu on the list of other students when I first started, all I was doing was thinking about how she would go about the exam, and try to think on how many points she would get. After that, I'd look on the total and see if I needed to find a way to give her more points if she didn't get enough to get into Class 1-A or if she had enough.
First, I thought about what type of robots she took down and the reasons for it. See, Mitsu took down bots not to get points, but to either help others or save them, thinking she wasn't getting any points. And remember what Mic said; the students only needed to immobilize the robots, not destroy them. Pretty much, Mitsu was taking villains alive instead of killing them while saving others if you think about it. Anyway, this means that Mitsu gets both Villain Points and Rescue points by doing this. The Villain points are easy to do, as the rules were listed right in the anime/manga, but Rescue points are harder.
So, for the Villain Points, Mitsu got 23. She took down seven 3 point bots and one 2 point bot, the type of robots that most students would have trouble with, as the 1 point bots are easier to destroy or stop - although most students would be looking to destroy. A good number I would think. If those were the only points she got, it would put her below 10th place in the ranking, and I don't know where that would place her exactly because they only tell us the top 10 scores, but she'd most likely still get into UA with them and her written scores - which, I'll talk about after this.
But the thing is, is that she did it to either help or save others - this adds Rescue Points.
How I decided to do it was double the points, but add one more point to it. Because Mitsu did it with others in mind, not herself, actually stopping robots for others and saving them without herself in mind. Selfless, and this shows in her actions. So, she gets seven 4 points and one 3 points, making for 31 Points. That gives her 54 Points total. Which, might actually put her in 11th place because 10th place has 56 points total.
But, then comes the part where she helps out others with injuries and when she saves Tokoyami with some help. This is a bit harder to place in Rescue Points. For where she helps out others with injuries, I finally figured to give her 2 Rescue points for each person she helps get out of the way, as she isn't doing anything huge but is still helping others instead of ignoring them when they needed help. For helping someone get their shoulder back in place after it got dislocated, I would think that's 5 Rescue Points right there, as that is actually dangerous and stressful to do even with training. She helped three people get out of the way, so three 2 points, and one person with putting their shoulder back in place, one 5 points there. Making her total right now at 65. This makes her tied with Itsuka Kendo in 5th place.
But, then comes the part where she saves Tokoyami by helping him and by pushing him out of the way of the falling huge robot - essentially, if this was out in the field and not a test with a medic on staff, it could have killed her. That gets some big Rescue Points, but the question I had to answer, was how many points does that get her?
Well, the first thing I did was look at how many points Izuku got for taking down the huge robot, saving Ochaco, which was 60 points. Yes, what he did was heroic, but the that robot almost fell on Tokoyami in which Mitsu pushed him out of the way from, was from that very same robot. So, while Izuku took down the robot, the "big villain", he also endangered others by the way he went about it. If it was in the field and not a test, that could have killed people in a verity of ways. That robot could have fallen on others behind it when it went down in the anime after all, and in this story, it did.
It's pretty much the other side of the coin once you think about it for this. Izuku might have saved someone from getting crushed by the big robot and took down the big robot in a impressive way, but Mitsu saved someone from getting crushed from said big robot too because of how that big robot went down. Both getting injured heavily. It's pretty much a consequence to an action here. Mitsu might not have took down the big robot, but she did the same thing and did it because of Izuku's actions pretty much - showing that she is willing to do anything to save someone else. It's a hard thing to place because there is no clear cut way to give Rescue Points from how it is done in the anime/manga.
Honestly, I think that if this was canon, the judges would be arguing on this just like how I almost tore my hair out thinking about how many points to give Mitsu on this.
In the end, I figured that if Izuku gets 60 points for what he did, then so should Mitsu. Heroes are not just about taking down the villain. It's also about saving others at the risk of your own life - keeping others safe no matter what. While what Mitsu did wasn't as flashy as Izuku punching the huge robot down, it was still very heroic and should be rewarded as such. She technically saved someone's life at the cost of her own if the exam showed anything. Both teens did something heroic, just in different ways but both showed the same thing in a way.
So, after I did all this, I calculated all the points and found that Mitsu would get 23 Villain Points and 102 Rescue Points - making her get 125 Points in total.
That gives her 43 Points over Bakugou, who was First in ranking in canon. This would rank her as First.
As for her written score, she ranked fourth, as while she is very smart and studies very hard, there are others smarter than her in certain areas, there are some with intelligent Quirks, and some areas that she is very good in - such as languages and first-aid for example - might not be questions in the written exams, although that doesn't mean Mitsu didn't rank before some with those type of Quirks. Intelligent Quirks aren't everything after all, not if you try hard enough. Osamu, for example, ranks first on the written exam - he's just that smart and he doesn't have an intelligent Quirk to help him out.
So, yeah, I had to do a lot of thinking and trying to realistically give out points for Mitsu. I honestly thought that after I ranked up her points, she'd be within the top ten, maybe ranking 3rd, but I didn't think she would be first - and with that many points! But, after doing all that thinking, and after I nearly started banging my head on my desk in frustration at trying to figure out the Rescue Points, I wasn't about to do this all again just to make her get a lower rank. This is how I realistically thought this through, and damn it, I'm going with it! NO MORE MATH EVEN IF IT'S JUST SIMPLE ADDING AND SUBTRACTING!
*Ahem* Sorry about that, lost my cool there for a moment.
But, also, with her ranking first with so many points, this could cause some drama - as we all know that one certain student will not be happy about not ranking first. These more points, while are great, also have a big downside with putting her into the spotlight in certain ways and adds extra drama later down the line once how many points she got gets out - and the reasons for them. There are drawbacks to this, even if no one can see them yet.
This also shows that someone without a combative Quirk can be just as strong; It's the person that truly matters, not the Quirk after all. Or, at least, that's how I think of it. A smart person can do a lot with nothing and a compassionate person can be willing to do anything - and Mitsu, while not admitting to it, is smart and more than a little compassionate about saving others no matter who they are. In all honesty, I think Mitsu is the first student ever to be ranked first, get such a high score, all without a combative Quirk because of how unfair the Exams are. People with all types of Quirks, not just combative or flashy ones, or even Quirkless people can be Pro Heroes too, and Mitsu proves that here in a way.
