4. THE PAST THAT CAN'T BE CHANGED

PAST

The funeral

Baekhyun struggled to keep his emotions in check as he watched them bury the two people who had raised him to be the man he is today. He never knew he would lose his parents at the age of 21.

It was so unexpected that they would be involved in an accident with a drunk driver and the funny part was that the drunkard survived but his victims are all dead.

Baekhyun fought back the tears that threatened to spill. He had to be strong.  He had to be stronger now that all responsibilities had fallen on his shoulders. He graduated highschool early and had just finished his degree.

The plan was to shadow his father until he was ready to take over but suddenly 3 months in his father and mother died making him the official CEO of the company per his fathers wishes in his will.

Its not that he didn't have the ability or he was afraid. He had been working parttime at the compamy since he was 13 and knew everything inside and out. The problem was being the boss jusy reminded him that he had lost two very important people in his life and it felt like he was all alone.

He was an obedient child and always lived for his parents. He accepted his life was set for him and was willing to follow their path but now his reason to live had demised and left this world.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see his uncle.
"Uncle Chul"
"I'm sorry Baekhyun. I still can't believe my brother and sister in law are gone" he said and Baek just closed his eyes for a few seconds to get his emotions in control.
"What do we do from here?" Baekhyun felt lost and honestly didn't know how to deal with the pain.
"We move on. We live on the way they excpected and planned... Especially for you. Everything has been set and prepared. Don't worry nephew I'm still here for you and  I will guide you all the way."

After the funeral

Baekhyun had been at home for some time when Dara arrived.
"I just came to check up on you and see if you're okay" she said as she checked her reflection in the mirror to see if anything was out of place. She made sure she had a smile on when Baekhyun turned back to face her.

"I looked for you after the burial. Where did you go?"
"I... I'm not really a graveyard person and... I didn't... I couldn't see them... watch them being buried.  I considered your parents as mine Baek and so... I couldn't..." Baekhyun pulled her into a hug.
"Its okay. I understand. You don't have to explain" he held her close and couldn't see the smirk she had on her face.

When she finally calmed down they settled on the couch.
"Is there anything I can do?" She asked.
"No. No need. Don't worry"
"Come on Baek. I'm your fiance. I'm sure I can... help you feel all better" she said as she moved closer with a seductive smile and tried to kiss him but he looked away.

"Please Dara not now. I'm not in the mood"
"Really? I throw myself at you every single time but you keep rejecting me Baek"
"This is not the right time"
"Its always not the right time with you. We have been together for almost a year Baek but you barely touch me. Am I not attractive?"
"No. You are very attractive baby. Its just... listen I just lost my parents and I can't. Please understand.  Not right now" Baekhyun was tired of fighting.

"I'm sorry. You're right its not the right time. Let me just get something to drink. To calm our nerves" she said before walking to to kitchen. She let her frustration show on her face when she was alone. She thought she couldtake advantage of him while he was vulnerablebut it wasn't working. She needed to get him into bed before it was too late and that's when she had a light bulb moment and pulled out a small bottle from her purse that would solve all her problems. Just one drop in his drink and Baekhyun woke up the next morning naked, shocked and confused in bed with Dara.

The bachelor party

After Baekhyun found out Dara was pregnant his uncle convinced him that he needed to take responsibility and marry her. There was no reason to delay and the wedding was planned and set within a month.

Baekhyuns parents had always planned for him to meet a nice girl, get married to her and have children that he would train and pass on the family business.
It was his parents wish and since Dara was already pregnant he agreed it was the best way to go. Its what his parents would have wanted and said. Right?

His best friend Kyungsoo didn't agree. He didn't like Dara or trust her but all he could do was be there for his best friend. But they was something he did just to try and convince Baekhyun not to marry her. His one last attempt to convince his friend to chose the one he loves and not the ideal image of perfection his parents set for him. They were dead. He didn't have to life for them anymore. He needed to live his own life but Baekhyun was hard to convince.

During the bachelor party Kyungsoo called and locked Baekhyun in the same room with another person.
"Chan... Chanyeol?"
"Dissapointed to see me?"
"No... just... a little shocked. Kyungsoo told me you weren't coming"
"Why wouldn't I come? You're marrying my sister. You are my future brother in law. I should be happy right?"

"You don't look happy"  Baekhyun said.
"You also don't look happy"  Chanyeol responded rendering the other male silent.
"How could I be happy seeing the man I love marry someone else?" Baekhyun still stayed silent.

"Dont" Chanyeol broke the silence as he walked towards Baekhyun and ended up trapping him against the wall, his hands by the sides of Baekhyuns head.
"Don't what?"
"Don't marry her"
"She's pregnant with my child"
"I know you don't love her"
"I have to take responsibility"
"She will never make you happy"
"It doesn't matter"

"SO MY FEELINGS AREN'T IMPORTANT TO YOU?"
"OF COURSE THEY ARE"
"SO WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME? DON'T YOU LOVE ME"
"I DO. I DO LOVE YOU SO MUCH" Baekhyun couldn't handle his feelings as tears fell down his eyes along with Chanyeols.

"Then why baby. Why are you doing this to me. To us" Chanyeol whispered. Their faces only inches apart.
"Because I have no choice. I'm sorry" Baekhyun said as he pushed Chanyeol back a bit to leave but the taller male pressed him harder against the wall.
"Baby please... Don't leave me... Don't marry her... please chose me" Chanyeol whispered in a broken voice. This time he didn't have the strength to fight and Baekhyun left him alone.

He didn't chose him.

These are things that happened in the past that Baekhyun can't change but now he has a chance to redeem himself in the future.
