Chapter 9: Lies and Deceptions

Stella's POV

I really didn't need this.

I really didn't need someone to basically walk up and say "hi, Stella! Ceris is dead, so now you have to rule the End. Oh, and by the way, there's a traitor among us and the portals are shut down."

Yeah, I didn't need that.

I wish my job was easier, instead I was questioning myself whether or not I could trust anyone. I wasn't even sure if I could trust Kirtanta who checked on me daily.

"Stella?" Kirtanta asked, walking in.

Speak of the devil. I thought.

"Yes?" I answered.

"Oh, uh, just checking in," she replied.

"Hey, Kirtanta?" I said, as I realized something. "Have you seen Devon?"

Kirtanta shook her head. "Uh, no," she replied.

At that, Devon stuck his head out.

"Yikes!" I screamed. "Why do you always appear when I'm wondering where you are?"

"It's a talent," Dev replied, grinning.

"You're creepily spectacular at it," I observed.

"Why thank you," he replied.

"Hey, Stella?" Kirtanta asked. "You don't mind if Devon and I leave for a day?"

"Yeah, okay," I replied. "And how exactly are you going to leave?"

"Oh, there's this one place in the End that we haven't explored," Dev explained. "We'd really like to see it."

"I guess it'll be fine," I said. "You do deserve it. Just don't do anything reckless please,"

"We won't," Devon promised.

"Alright," I said. "Have fun."

"Thank you Stella!" Kirtanta said, hugging me. "Bye! See you soon!"

As the two of them left, I couldn't but help to think that something awful was going to happen to them.
