Chapter 44: "You Didn't Know?"
Ember's POV
"Ember?" Stella asked, her face full of concern. "Are you alright?"
I shook my head. "What happened?"
"You were sleeping peacefully," Stella said. "Until twelve AM, which was when you seemingly went mad."
"Sorry," I apologized. "I just had an awful dream."
"I can tell," Stella yawned. "You kept me up the rest of the night."
I felt guilty about that.
"I really didn't mean to keep you up," I said. "I'm sorry."
"It's fine Ember," Stella replied. "It's not fair for me to get angry when it was only a nightmare you were having." She smirked. "However if you did something really dumb..."
I laughed. "I'm trying to think before I act," I said. "But... I still have my moments."
"I can tell, and you're certainly improving," Stella told me. "But don't worry, our brains won't fully mature until we're twenty-one."
I grinned.
"So what was this nightmare about?" She asked.
"Well... I had a dream where I was talking to Kyle's ghost," I started. "We did have a little argument at first, and I did say some unkind things, but I really didn't mean to... I was just so upset when I found out what he had done to himself. But it got worse... Kyle... he... he told me that Razer who was trying to get revenge... it caused him to go completely insane. And now... now I'm afraid that Razer is living up to his name."
Stella's face was a mask of shock and horror. "Razer?" She said. "I can't believe it."
"Me neither," I sighed. "He's dangerous now, but I... I don't want to hurt him! I just want him back... the way he always been."
Stella sighed. "Meeps once told me that the reason why Razer is her best friend was because he's loyal," she said. "I doubt that Razer would betray us willingly, I'm afraid that there is something else that made him do this."
"I hope so..." I said. "But at the same time, I hope it's not something else, because wouldn't that mean another possible threat?"
Stella nodded, but her eyes were full of confusion.
"Stella?" I asked. "What's wrong?"
Stella gave a strange look. "When you said you were visited by Kyle's ghost... what did you mean?" She asked.
It was a rhetorical question... because it looked like she didn't want to hear the answer.
I hated to tell her, but I'm a terrible liar... and we don't lie to our friends.
"You didn't know what happened?" I asked. "You... nobody told you?"
"No, nobody could contact me for months," Stella said. "What happened to Kyle?"
I sighed. "Kyle... he died," I said. "He was suffering from severe depression, and he eventually broke down. He... he shot himself."
Stella's face was to shock to horror to anguish. "Who else died?!" She said, her voice trembling.
"Meeps," I sighed. "I'm not sure how she died... but she died in a battle, at least... that's how much I've figured out."
"Meeps is dead?" Stella asked. "But she was so young... she said she wanted to go to college. I was even going to help her achieve that dream!"
Stella sat down and buried her head in arms, and began to cry.
I just stood there, unable to process my thoughts, I was at crossroads. I didn't know what to do... where to go.
Then I sat down, hugged Stella (please don't kill me, Rain, Moon, Seawing and all your OCs, I'm only comforting a friend), and whispered to Stella that it was going to be okay.
But I was no longer sure that it was going to be okay.
Our innocence were fading away.
Our dreams were fleeting.
Our spirits were disappearing.
Hope was dying for us.
