Chapter 32: "It's Too Late!"
Song Played: [Original & Orchestral Mashup] Tristam - Frame of Mind
Ember's POV
When I opened my eyes again, I looked around, stunned.
Is this my village? Before it got destroyed?
Indeed it was actually. I had forgotten what my old home used to look like.
I then looked down to see that my left hand looked like it was on fire, even though it didn't hurt at all.
I wonder what this means...
"Hello, Ember," somebody said, breaking my train thought.
I turned around to see Moon walking towards me, smiling.
"Moon!" I exclaimed. "Is that you?"
"Of course!" Moon said, holding her arms out as if showing me the village for the first time. "It's me, your girlfriend. You don't remember this place? This was our home."
"At least you're—" I started to say, than stopped. "Wait a minute. You're not Moon!"
"What do you mean?" Moon asked. "How could you not know me? We've been together for so long!"
I wasn't sure if it was my imagination, but something told me that something was up.
I needed to give her a test.
I took out the Rebirth Relic. The light blue relic glowed for a second.
"Oh, I see that you have one of the relics," Moon said. "You know, Ember, I'd really appreciate it if you would hand it over."
"The real Moon would never say that!" I shouted.
Moon laughed. "Maybe you're right," she said. "I may not really be who I am."
I glared at her as I pulled out Flamebringer.
"If you're going to hurt me," Moon told me. "I'll just have to fight back."
I sighed. "Let's hope this works," I said to myself.
I charged at Moon, who did a backflip, and kicked me in the back, knocking me down.
I got back up, only for her to kick me again in the chest, causing me to fly backwards.
I did a backflip and landed, before punching Moon with my fire fist.
Moon landed on her feet, before doing a gesture with her hands.
Suddenly, the ground below me shot up, launching me upwards.
As I was falling, I saw Moon throw a blade at me.
I took out my iron sword and threw it, knocking the blade away from me.
Moon punched me, knocking me down, and before I could get back up, she summoned Kyllian's scythe, and prepared to strike me.
I held my sword in front of me, and Moon pushed against it, trying to pierce me.
A surge of adrenaline shot through my veins, and I swung the sword with all of my might, causing Moon to get launched backwards.
Before Moon landed, I threw an Ender pearl, and stabbed her again.
When Moon fell onto the ground, she struggled to get back up.
I ran toward her, ready to strike.
Moon began to flicker, and for a brief second, in her place I saw Kyllian.
And then I struck her with my sword.
When I struck Moon, everything began to glow for a second, and when it faded, I saw that I was in the middle of nowhere. All there was in the whole place was a small house.
I looked ahead to see that Moon wasn't there anymore, instead, I saw Meeps who fell onto the ground before getting back up.
"W-what?!" I exclaimed, surprised.
"Oh hello, Ember," Meeps said. "Clearly you know me."
"I'm not falling for your deceptions, Kyllian!" I shouted.
"Lies?" Meeps asked. "Would I lie to you?"
"What are you going to do with Meeps?!" I asked. "And the rest of my friends?!"
Meeps laughed at that, and I lowered my sword.
"Ember Ayers," Meeps said. "I'm sorry to say. But your friend Meeps is no longer with us."
I froze when she said that. "What are you saying?!" I demanded. "Where is she? What did you do to her?!"
"A sibling bond isn't always the best thing," Meeps replied. "I... killed her."
"No... No!" I screamed, staggering backwards as I shook my head in horror. "How could you!? She was only a kid, you monster!"
"Do you really think I care?" Meeps asked. "Now hand over the Rebirth Relic!"
Meeps rushed towards me, and I swerved out of the way and swung my blade at the same time.
Meeps got back up, punching me in the face, before I pushed her back, and swung Fire Heart upwards, launching her upwards.
Everything flickered again, and all of a sudden I was at an academy, with Razer taking the place of Meeps.
"No! I'm not going to let you interfere with my plans!" Razer shouted.
I jumped forward, stabbing Razer in the head, causing him to fall backwards as the scene flickered to the Red Death Dimension, where I fought Damian in.
Damian glared at me. "You annoying traveler!" He screamed. "Can't you tell that this doesn't matter? You're fighting me, but you're not going to gain anything!"
Suddenly, I was levitated into the air, and Damian launched me into a wall, before grabbing me by the neck.
I struggled as I began to lose air, and I saw that Damian was about to summon an orb to blast me with.
I lifted my sword up and smashed him in the back, before punching him with my fire fist.
Damian flew backwards and I ran towards him, striking him once again.
When Damian landed, he flickered again, reverting back to Kyllian.
The Red Death Dimension faded away, and suddenly I was in that bright realm that I was always in, when Kyllian was talking to me in my dreams.
"Tell me, Ember," Kyllian said. "How did you like this little battle?"
"Kyllian Wilcox!" I shouted. "What is the meaning behind this?!"
"Can't you tell, Ember?" Kyllian replied. "This is what I've done to all of your friends..."
Kyllian laughed as he faded away, and I looked around to see that I was in the realm where I first fought and supposedly killed Kyllian in.
I put my sword away, taking deep breaths, exhausted and shocked about the news of one of my closest friend's death.
"What was he talking about when he-" I wondered out loud, before I froze as Kyllian's words sank in.
"W-what?!" I cried out. "Oh no! It's too late! My friends!"
Without even hesitating for a split second, I ran to the portal as quickly as I could.
