Jun's POV

After Ember ran into the portal, we turned to face Akuji.

Or... the person who used to be Akuji.

"Akuji?" Nina whispered, as if she was hoping there was a way to bring back our friend.

But it had been six months since it happened, Nina was just unconscious during the whole time.

There's no returning for him, I realized. No matter how much I wish there was... but there isn't.

Akuji laughed. "Are you sure you want to fight your old friend? He asked.

"Akuji is dead," I replied. "I'm not fighting him."

Nina punched Akuji in the face.

As the two of them engaged in a fist fight, since Nina didn't have a weapon with her anymore, I pulled out a sword and began to approach Akuji.

Akuji pulled out a sword, and knocked my blade out of my hand. He spun around and began to attack me.

While Akuji was attempted to hack me into pieces, Nina grabbed the sword that was knocked out of my hands.

Unfortunately for Akuji, he was focusing too much on killing me, that he didn't notice Nina sneaking behind him.

Suddenly, Akuji stiffened, as if he realized something was going to happen.

Too late, Akuji, I thought. Too late...

Then Akuji's body went rigid as he collapsed, his body spasming. 

We backed away as we watched Akuji cough up blood.

As he was dying, I walked up to him and stared at my old friend in the eyes.

"I'm sorry, Akuji," I said, quietly. "If you still even remember that name. But you're in a labyrinth with no escape. You don't even realize that you're trapped, that's how bad it is. You're on a quest, one that will kill you. Even though, you're already dead. So, I ask you, for the sake of my old friend. Give up his soul, it doesn't belong to you. Akuji, if you can hear me, I want to apologize for not being there for you when your soul was corrupted. I couldn't save you then, so let me save you now. It's time to rest; for you. It's the least you deserve. Let your spirit soar free forever."

Then, just in case Kyllian has the ability to control dead people, I took out a flint and steel and set the body of our old friend on fire.

Nina and I watched as Akuji burnt into nothing but ashes.

I sighed, and closed my eyes, shaking my head. 

Nina suddenly nudged me and we looked up, there seemed to be a red glowing wave coming closer.

"What is that?!" Nina screamed.

We wouldn't have time to figure out, for the red aura swept over us before we could run away.

And that was the last thing I remembered.
