Chapter twenty seven - Breaking.

"This is very... unexpected," The man with the thick Russian accent starts, slowly walking towards Bucky with conviction while his hands rested coolly behind his back. "We spent months searching for you, Solider. We expected to find you soon, however, we did not expect you to come to us." The man plastered a big smile on his face, one that sent shivers up Amelia's spine as she stood behind Bucky's figure. Bucky's jaw tightened, and Steve panted for air from his last fight but stood there in as much shock as the others, looking around at the agents that surrounded them. "I've been handling the mission in finding and restoring you since Pierce died, so I'm probably a new face to you. If it counts for anything, I have met you before -- but you've probably forgotten."

Bucky tightened his fists at the mention of his memory being wiped. He hated this man, and how easily the man thought it would be to mock Bucky right in front of him. If the room wasn't filled up with a hundred agents with guns pointed at their heads, Bucky swore he would've snapped the vertebra bones that this man carried and made sure to seriously damage his spinal cord to kill him immediately.

"I'm Voronkov." The man introduces himself, stopping in his tracks. He lifted his hand and gestured towards the fixed agents around the room. "You probably already figured out that you're out numbered. So I'm asking politely, Soldier, come with us now and your two friends won't get hurt. Oh, and Captain, you can come too."

It's silent for a short moment. It was true that they were out numbered, by a lot of people. Bucky knew that if he didn't come with them then they would surely kill Amelia and Evan -- and without hesitation. And Bucky didn't want that, but he also didn't want to be their puppet. Not again.

He hated the amount of control HYDRA had over him.

Then again, Bucky and Steve we're better than the men in this room put together. Would that really be enough to try and fight back? Even so, it wouldn't guarantee the safety of Amelia and Evan. If they fight back now, there's a high possibility that Evan and Amelia might not come out alive in the process.

Bucky didn't want that either.

His face fell when he realised that his options were low. Non of them were going to be coming out of the building of who they once were. And even if Bucky and Steve decide to go back with HYDRA, he felt very convinced that they would kill Amelia and Evan anyway.

Bucky was snapped back into reality when he felt something soft touch his hand. He looked down and saw that Amelia had slipped her hand into his, giving it a slight squeeze in comfort despite the situation they were in.

"If I was to come with you..." Bucky started, and immediately he felt Amelia's hand tense as the mention of him returning back with HYDRA. "You have to promise these won't get hurt."

"Bucky..."

"Promise me." Bucky said with gritted teeth, staring at Voronkov with dead eyes. "You know me and Steve can fight everyone in this room and still make it out alive. Hurt them and I promise you, no one will live to see the next day. Do I make myself clear?"

Amelia didn't think she ever saw Bucky so angry, and Steve and Evan just stood there looking at him, unsure on what to do to make the situation any easier. Steve understood why Bucky was saying this, he didn't think there was any more options either. Voronkov, however, just stood there while a sinister grin made it's way on his face.

"Do I make myself clear?" Bucky repeated loudly, and Voronkov chuckled and nodded his head.

"Yes, yes you're making yourself quite clear. It's good to know you and Captian are on a first name basis," Voronkov grinned, refering to when Bucky mentioned Steve, "I promise I won't hurt your friends and blah blah blah. Does mean you'll come back with us?"

Amelia frowned and she felt water prickling in her eyes. She stepped forward and stood in front of Bucky, looking up at him as he continued to give Voronkov look's that could kill someone. "Bucky..." She doubtfully whispered, her hand still in his. "Bucky, please. Don't do this."

Bucky looked visibly sad. He didn't cry, he wouldn't cry, not in front of Voronkov or anyone. But he was sad, that much was clear. He didn't want to give up his life to them, not after he had escaped and met the most amazing people he ever could. His eyes met Amelia's, and he frowned at her once he saw how upset she looked. "I have too."

"You don't." Amelia responded, her voice soft as she tried to convince Bucky that going back with HYDRA was literally suicide. She looked at him wistfully. A tear slowly ran down her cheek as she tried to desperately get him to change his mind. "... Don't do this. For me -- For you. You told me you hated what you were, that you wanted to kill no more people. Don't do this."

Bucky tilted his head to the side ever so slightly when looking at her, then let go off her hand and brought it up caress her cheek, wiping away the fallen tear with his thumb, "I'm doing this for you."

Bucky stepped in front of Amelia, despite her pleads and efforts to pull him back. The wound in his leg was almost forgotten about as it stopped bleeding long ago, and anger filled his eyes as he glared at Voronkov. Bucky nodded his head. "I'll come back with you."

"Bucky."

"Good, that's nice to hear." Voronkov replied, cutting off Amelia as he clapped his hands together cheerfully. Suddenly, a loud, electrical sound could be heard as Bucky and Steve cried out in pain. Amelia and Evan had stepped back in horror when two agents had unexpectedly zapped them with something; like they had tasered them but this was something designed to directly make people like Bucky and Steve weak. Once that happened two pairs of agents had grabbed Bucky and Steve by their arms, and Voronkov let out a loud, daunting laugh as he watched the whole thing play out. "Being away has really played with your mind, hasn't it солдат?"

The agents that held the two super-humans stood still as they waited for Voronkov to finish talking, obviously wanting Bucky to listen to what he had to say.

"Did you really think we would let these two live after what they witnessed today?"

"Fuck." Evan cursed, then letting out a yelp as two agents tightly gripped his arms so he couldn't escape. The same happened with Amelia, and she widened her eyes and faced Bucky, who was just as surprised as her.

"No..." Bucky said quietly, looking his at Voronkov with disgust. "You promised!" He then yelled, throwing himself towards him and reaching out his arms to attack him -- but the agents held him back, and Bucky's head began spinning from the magnetic volt they shot him with. But he still remained strong as he tried to fight back. Steve started tugging on the agents that held him back too, trying to get free but with the damage that had already happened to him when he was being tortured for information just made things worst.

Voronkov still continued to laugh, and looked down at Bucky like he was nothing. He then rolled his eyes when Bucky attempted to attack him, then turned on his heels and began to walk away. "Shoot the girl and the funny-lookin' guy."

"NO!" Bucky yelled angrily, and Amelia managed to get one of her arms free from the guards that held her back. She extended her arm out towards Bucky for him to grab it.

"Bucky!"

Bucky looked towards her, and immediately freed his arm and reached out to grab hers. "Amelia!" He called, trying to ignore Evan's yelling in the background. The agents that held Bucky and Steve down began pushing them out one of the exits, and Bucky's fingers brushed against Amelia's before he was forcefully pulled away like a fish on a rod. He watched as one of the guards grabbed a hand gun from their holster and aimed it towards Amelia's head. Suddenly Bucky's tugging became more dynamic than they was before- if that was even possible. He tried to throw himself forward to stop the event from happening, but he began to feel his legs become weak and suddenly he was pulled out of the room. Amelia screamed his name, and Bucky looked at her one last time before using all the energy he had on the guards that pulled him away. Any tactics and finesse completely discarded. He stepped on one of their feet, and elbowed the other in the face. He then threw himself forward again and once he was free and went to step through the automatic door he was pulled out off. But it was too late, the metal doors closed and Bucky heard the fire of a gun shot. And although Bucky didn't see it happen, he knew exactly what it was for.

He rested his head against the door, trying to listen for hers or Evan's voice- but it suddenly became quiet. That's when Bucky lost it.

He screamed in anger; loudly, and he didn't care if he was being dramatic. He tightened his fist and slammed it into the door, not caring that his vision was going blury from whatever the hell it was that they had shocked him with. Before Bucky could fall to his knee's the agents grabbed onto his muscular arms again, and began dragging him away to what he ran away from in the first place.

At least now he had a reason to wanting to forget. He didn't want to remember that Amelia died if it meant that it hurt this bad.
