Chapter twenty one - La vie en rose.
The three decided to call it a day when they got off of the train. Amelia phoned a taxi and told the driver to take them to the nearest hotel around. The driver agreed, and soon they were all joined together at the back of a cab, waiting again for their new destination. They all felt enervated and bored, and Evan leaned his head onto the car window, looking outside dully as his face was drained with any excitement he once had before. He just wanted to fall asleep and to never wake up, he wasn't even sure why he was so tired all of a sudden. The smell of blossoms and herbs made him feel even more drowsier, but honestly, he missed the smell his own car.
Fortunately, the journey there wasn't as long as everyone had thought. Ten minutes later, the taxi driver had pulled up to a three-star hotel that looked very nice from the outside, giving Bucky, Amelia and Evan good vibes about the place. They thanked the driver and Evan grabbed his rucksack before they made it inside and checked themselves in for the night. However, Amelia and Bucky weren't feeling as tired as Evan, so they decided to stay up and discuss their plans for when they found HYDRA's secret building while listening to the radio provided in the hotel room they were given.
"Don't turn it up too high." Evan commented moodily, chucking his rucksack onto a small sofa before walking into the master bedroom, clearly taking the queen sized bed for himself. Amelia and Bucky would have to take the two separate beds in the other room, but they didn't mind. A bed was a bed, it was only for one night.
Amelia made sure that the radio wasn't on too high- to save Evan from moaning at them, then continued to write more data onto her notebook. Bucky was telling her about what they do there, and where the most likely have Steve. They also started to discus their deficient idea of a plan, but Amelia didn't write this down in case someone got a hold of it.
"So we take care off a few agents guarding the CCTV room, then Evan goes in there and locks the door behind him," Amelia begins, Bucky nodding at her as she repeats Bucky's plan, "then he speaks to us through an ear piece or though our phones or whatever- and tells us where Steve is and where HYDRA's men are, and where to go and such?"
"Exactly, because he'll have access to CCTV in all the rooms." Bucky replies, his fingers slightly tapping his knee to the steady rhythm of the song that started to play on the radio. It was quite an old song, but then again, the station wasn't exactly playing up-to date songs such as Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj anyway. Amelia senses his movements and raised her eyebrow, looking at him with amusement.
"Like the song?" She asked, although she somehow already knew he did. It did seem like the kind of song he would've listened to back in the 40's anyway.
Bucky shrugged, "Never heard it before."
"Doesn't mean you don't like it."
Bucky pauses, a sense of warmth tumbling upon him like a hurricane. He wasn't sure what was going on with his mind. It was like he could remember his past, but then again, he couldn't. For example, it was like if someone never baked before, but suddenly they started to bake a cake- without the internet or any books to help them- and then that person makes the most delicious cake in the entire world. Now, he wasn't comparing his memories to cake, but it was like things just came naturally to him. He didn't need to remember. He didn't need to learn most things again like a helpless child. He smiled bashfully and looked down at his lap for a split second before looking back up and peering into her azure, alluring eyes. "...Can you dance?"
Amelia blinks sharply, taken aback by his question, "What?"
Bucky just breaks out into a smile, then stands up and walks over to the radio, turning it up just slightly. He didn't really want Evan storming out of his room and whining like a vexatious child. He then turned on his feet slowly and took two steps forward until he stood in front of Amelia. Bucky extends his arm out so Amelia could grab a hold of his hand. Amelia laughs nervously and blushes softly.
What was he doing? I can't even dance! Amelia looked fixedly on his hand, reluctant to reach for it. She gazed up at him, and he nodded his head. She exhales, then lifts her arm and places her hand in his, and he gently pulls her to her feet, with a silly smile still plastered on his face.
"Seriously?" She tries to stop herself from smiling back, but she can't help but to grin. Who knew? Bucky Barnes, a dancer. Well, it would make sense. He was a bit of a ladies men, he probably danced with loads a girls.
"What?" He questioned, as if there was nothing wrong. And there wasn't, he just wanted to dance with her.
"I can't dance."
"I'll show you."
"So you can dance?"
"Well, we'll see about that in a minute." He smiles at her, their faces so close that they could feel each others breath hit daintily on their skin. He brings her hand that he was still holding up and in-between's their fingers together as his free hand gently grips her waist. Amelia's free hand reaches up and lands on Bucky's shoulder, and just like that they started swaying to the rhythm. Amelia wasn't sure why people classed this as dancing, they were just swaying side to side for heavens sake- but for some reason she liked it.
Bucky chuckles as Amelia moves her feet in the wrong places. She senses this and just blushes, hoping Bucky didn't notice. But Bucky did. Bucky lifted his hand that connected with Amelia's and lifted it over her head, twirling Amelia around. As soon as she faced Bucky again he quickly let go off her hand, placing both hands on her waist and picking her up, placing her feet on top of his. Amelia gasped slightly with surprise as her feet lift off the floor, and looks down to see her feet land on top of his. She slowly lifts her head to look at Bucky, noticing the smug look on his face.
"I'm that bad huh?"
Bucky smirks, "I never said that."
"My feet are on top of yours so you can move them for me. You could have just told me I was bad."
Bucky sighs, and re-connects his hand with her, letting their fingers intertwine again, "Shut up."
She opens her mouth to say something, but closes it, not knowing how to reply. Just a couple of weeks ago she was the clever, sarcastic one to have the last say on everything. What happened? She slightly squints her eyes at Bucky, "Or what?"
Bucky shakes his head, "Nothing- you win."
"Know best."
"So," He starts, lifting their closed hands into the air and then back down as he moves his feet to the rhythm, "what happens after we save Steve?"
"Well, I would imagine that you two have some catching up to do."
"Agreeable. And HYDRA?"
"Steve will have them exposed to SHIELD and make sure the organisation has been destroyed completely."
"Lovely. And me?" Bucky wonders, raising his eyebrow. Amelia leans her head to the side, pretending to think as they continued to dance- well, Bucky continued to dance.
"You may or may not become one of the Avengers."
"And what about us?"
"Ah," She pauses, and smiles at him, "that's a story for another time."
Bucky stares into her eyes and exhales. She was just so great and amazing and adorable and ajksglsaerajrt. He couldn't even think straight, he just liked her so much. "You're so damn beautiful."
Amelia lets out a laugh, "Thanks." She kisses his cheek before letting go of his hands and stepping off his feet. "It's getting late, I'm going off to bed. Thanks for the dance though."
"No problem." His voice was quiet; not that he was sad. He was just staring at her, admiring her. He just wanted to kiss her again, but he knew when to give her some space.
"You going to bed too?"
"Not yet."
"Okay." She gives him a warm smile, and quickly chucks her old, comfy grey sweater on, "Night, Buck."
"Night." He replies, smiling at her as she walks into the bedroom. He shakes his head pathetically and smiles, trailing over to the radio on the coffee table and switching it off. What's with her and getting him all lovey-dovey recently?
