Chapter nine - Food and films.

Amelia and Bucky stayed inside for the next few days since the 'government' came to see Amelia. They thought it was best to stay low for a while, so Amelia decided to introduce Bucky to some films. She didn't have much films, and she thought Bucky would be interested in fantasy/action movies so she showed him one of her favourite movies 'The Lord Of The Rings' and part two and three that followed after that. At first he was confused, but then Amelia explained how the world in the film was made up and it was based after a novel. He then understood and soon came to love the movie. Legolas was Amelia's favourite character and Bucky just loved the film and the characters in general.

When a week had passed and she decided it was time to go out. The food cupboards, fridge and freezer was becoming empty and they couldn't stay inside forever. Plus, a day ago she had run out of cat food so decided to feed Alaska the rest of the ham slices. Her cat would starve if they didn't buy any food for her.

"Get dressed," She ordered as soon as she walked through the living room door, interrupting Bucky from watching a Wildlife documentary while he was eating a bowl of cereal. Amelia gave him a strange look, she was sure he now knew how to change over the tv channel. "We're going shopping."

"Why?" He questioned. Amelia sat next to him and gave him another look.

"Because we need to buy some food. Unless you want to eat cereal for the rest of your days."

"Are you sure that's a good idea? HYDRA and probably the rest of the police force, including SHIELD are probably looking for me."

"I bought you some new clothes and gave you a hair cut, they shouldn't recognize you. Just keep your head low. We're just going to the supermarket anyway."

Bucky lets out a groan, feeling too comfortable to move from the spot he was in. He had woken up on the couch and planned on staying on there for the rest of the day.

"And why on earth are you watching a documentary about penguins having sex?"

"They're not having sex." Bucky defends. Amelia lets out a laugh.

"Whatever, go and get dressed then I'll teach you how to shop for food."

"I think I'll know how to do that, thank you very much."

"Do you know what foods to get? What's good and what isn't? What about prices? Things have changed a lot, you know."

"I think I would manage."

"I'll let you push the shopping cart. Plus I'm too lazy to do the adding up and you're the smart one."

Bucky finishes his last bite of cereal and sent her a look, "I'm the one who's good at fighting, you're the one who's good at math."

With a roll of her eyes, she snatched the bowl and spoon out of his hands and stood up, "Dressed. Now."

She walked into the kitchen and put the bowl in the sink while Bucky let out another small groan. He stood up lazily and walked up the stairs and into Amelia's room. He had kept his clothes folded up in one of Amelia's black suitcases, which was Amelia's idea as she thought it would be good for Bucky to use it as his personal draw. He puts on a pair of black jeans and a white shirt, along with his new his jacket and he also puts his coat on as it was cold outside, and it would also help to cover his metal arm more. After he was dressed he went out of Amelias room and stopped at the top of the stairs when he saw Amelia, who was waiting by the front door.

"Have you brushed your teeth?"

He furrows his eyes. He wasn't sure why she ordered him around. She did say she was going to teach him how to live as an ordinary person would live in this century, but he wasn't too keen on the bossiness. However he knew how to read people, and he knew that Amelia was the type to be controlling because she likes to make sure everything is done correctly. Instead of snapping at her, Bucky just let her continue. He thought she was actually a lovely woman and he wanted her help more than anything. He had to keep himself on her good side.

"Brush them." She orders, and turning on his heals he walks into the bathroom, picks up his new toothbrush, puts the paste on the bristles before putting it in his mouth and brushing his teeth. When he's done, he rinsed his mouth out with water and exits the bathroom. Amelia glances at him before returning her attention back to her phone. Bucky walked downstairs to meet her and put on his new combat boots on.

"Ready?"

"Yes." He replied, and she opens the door and walks out, Bucky following behind her. She locks up and puts her keys into her bag before they got into her car. It doesn't take long to drive to the supermarket, and when they park the car on the car park Bucky puts his hood over his head to avoid attention and cameras. Amelia just grabs a shopping cart and walk into the store alongside Bucky.

Bucky glances around.. He didn't remember much but he knows that the food market here was way better than the 40's.

"Right," Amelia starts, then pushes the shopping cart towards Bucky. Bucky grabs the handle and looks over at Amelia, who decides to jump in and sit in the center.

"What are you doing?" He inquired awkwardly, "We have to put the food in there."

"I can't be bothered to walk. Now, push the cart over there through the first isle."

Bucky just rolls his eyes and pushes the cart to where Amelia had told him too. Amelia told him to stop a few times while she grabbed stuff and put it in the cart. Bucky was interested in certain foods and wanted to know what they were, but other than that he couldn't help but to grow bored. The interesting part would be when he got to eat them, not stare at them through isles.

"Why did I have to come? I could of just stayed inside, it would have been less risky."

"Because it's boring and I didn't want to be here by myself. Plus you wanted me to teach you what us adults get up to now days, don't you? You should be taking notes or something." She teases, looking up at him, "Now, see anything you like?"

"Yeah," He smiles and opens a freezer, picking out a box with a familiar food in it, "Pizza?"

"Hell yeah, put it in the cart." He does so and Amelia looks ahead, seeing that they were the only people in the isle. She grins. "Try running and then jumping on the back of the cart, it's fun."

"Are you crazy? The food will fall out!"

"It wont, trust me. I did it all the while as a kid."

"But I'm not a kid."

"So? Just do it. Live a little." She replies with a cheeky grin. She doesn't really do that now, but she loved to do it when she was a kid. And because Bucky never got the chance to experience it, she didn't want him to miss out. She wanted him to have fun.

Bucky wasn't scared, he was just nervous to draw attention. However a smile reaches his lips and a chucks escapes his mouth. "Fine." He agrees, picking up the speed while walking and jumps on the end. The cart rolled into the isle ahead and they both giggle to themselves. Bucky felt a strange calmness wash over him, maybe because he had stopped thinking too much about getting caught and decided to give other things a go.

Amelia felt something pock her back and turned her head, noticing a box of small cakes were digging into her side. She frowned and Bucky stops pushing the cart.

"I gotta get out, one sec." She started, standing up slowly as she began to climb out.

"Why?"

"Because now I'm taking up too much room and we need to put more food in there."

"Okay then." He replies. Once she gets out they resume their shopping, and Amelia had lost count of what the prices had added up to but she knew she had enough. When they finished they paid for everything, and Amelia had just enough money for it. Bucky felt sad for Amelia, knowing she didn't have a job so she wouldn't be able to buy much stuff, and plus the landlord keeps asking for money off her. However, Amelia still had a smile on her face and it made Bucky wonder how she could stay so positive, but he loved it when she was happy so if it didn't bother her then it didn't bother him.

They took their bags of shopping to the car and put it in the trunk before getting in and going home. When they got back Amelia had cooked a stir-fry for her and Bucky, which he loved, and then when she looked at what films were on the TV she saw that Bridget's Jones Diary was on. She wasn't normally into films like this, but this one she made an exception for because she thought it was funny and she loved how two men both chased after a woman that was anything but perfect. She explained to Bucky that it was romance, but it was also a comedy and was a great film and he agreed to watch it with her.

He didn't think it was possible to ever be happy again after his traumatizing experience, but Amelia helped take his mind off it all. He thought she was funny and kind, and was also a bit strange but he didn't mind that at all. Above all he also thought she was beautiful inside and out.

He laughed at parts of the movie, even though he was confused at a few things he didn't quite understand but it made him not determined to learn. He wasn't quite used to the clothing and the phones and the cars, but watching films like this also educated him a little.

He enjoyed her company, and for the rest of the day they slouched on the couch together watching movies.
