Chapter Three

The forest had werewolves and mosquitos, Arthur was not going there. "Nope, nevermind, bad idea."
"You're coming with me." Lucas put his arm around his best friend and started walking out. Lucas was four times as strong as Arthur, then again, Lucas played sports and worked out, Arthur drew and wrote awful poems about Regulus; this made it easy for Lucas to drag Arthur wherever needed.
There were a decent amount of people here, all of the Slytherin quidditch team and most of the players' friends. Lucas left shortly after arriving to grab a drink and find a girl, which left Arthur to find the one he wanted. At some point during the party, he had been handed a drink, it smelled strongly of something that he did not know, he didn't know what was in it, he didn't drink, but tonight something had changed. Soon the cup was empty and then another cup and another cup until he didn't know how many he had but he knew that he was not sober anymore.
Arthur found some guy, he began dancing with him, he lost track of the time and stopped feeling everyone else around them, his eyes were closed, allowing the only part of him to open be his ears. The lyrics were inchanting, his body shifting with the singer's voice. When he opened his eyes the man was gone and Arthur was dancing by himself, everyone was focused on themselves, not on him. He moved quickly out of the dancing, feeling all the alcohol rushing up and wanting out.
When it came out, all he saw were shoes. He looked up wiping his mouth, about to start apologizing when he saw who he just throw up on. His face turned a dangerous shade of white while horror-struck his face. "Hey, hey Black." His crush, the crush who he had destroyed the chances with multiple times, now he could never come back from this. Before Regulus could get a word out, Arthur ran back hitting branches and almost tripping on rocks multiple times. He ran to his dorm room, mashing his face into the pillow. His dormmates told him to shush as they tried to sleep and while Lucas was still at the party, and the other dormmates trying to sleep, Arthur quietly sobbed into his pillow.
Arthur woke up, he looked over and saw empty beds. He vaguely remembered last night, though he knew that his head felt like he had been hit by the knight bus.
He slowly made his way out of his bed, wanting food, food would help. He looked down seeing that his tie had come loose, he tightened it up before he forgot to do it later. Next thing he knew, he heard the shrieking of girls and groaning of boys, he looked up and saw that the people in front of him where covered by a red goop like substance and yellow glitter. The Gryffindor colors spilling over the group of what looked like to be Ravenclaws. Arthur walked around them, trying to not get any goop on his shoes. He didn't care much for pranks, they looked like they too much work to do, and the risk of getting caught seemed too high, plus this particular prank wasn't very nice, and Arthur tried to be nice.
Often Arthur wondered how he was sorted into Slytherin, most of his peers were ruthless and cared for no one but themselves. He was the opposite, he cared for others, he was merciful he liked to think.
Even his best friend was a true Slytherin at heart if it weren't for Arthur, Lucas may have turned out a lot worse. He remembers when he came out to Lucas, it took them a day to speak to each other, and it took weeks for Lucas to accept him. He didn't blame his friend, however, Lucas grew up in a household where that was unacceptable, Lucas himself was unacceptable.
Lucas grew up in a strict Christian household, he went to Chruch every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, he was taught to pray five times a day. Once when he woke up, before breakfast, before lunch, before dinner, and before he went to sleep. The fact that their son was involved with witchcraft was unacceptable, they tried holding him back, but Professor McGonagall and Headmaster Dumbledore convinced the parents for the boy's safety. That's all Arthur knew, most of which was told over the five years of them being best friends.
Arthur sat down, eating a pastry and sketching a new painting in his book. He was fine by himself, sometimes eavesdropping on nearby conversations. That's when he felt someone sit down next to him, "Finally get up Luke?" He didn't feel like looking up, focusing on getting the perfect line for a part of this sketch. "I don't know who that is but maybe you should wake him up if you're that worried about him getting up." Arthur looked up, it was the one and only Sirius Black, why would the other Black brother want to speak to him. Was he about to get jumped by the Black family? He was too young to die.
"Why are you here? Can't you leave?" Arthur realized how rude that sounded when it came out of his mouth, at the moment he didn't care, he wanted an answer. "How did you manage to make my brother that upset? I've set pranks up just for him and he's never been as upset as he is now?" Arthur looked at the table and thought about it, was Regulus still upset about what happened at the cup, what was new?
"Look at that, my favorite blood traitors, together at once, ya gonna go into the astronomy tower and make some blood traitor fag babies?" Julien, Regulus, and two other members of their group walked over.
"Well considering that we have the same parts, that would be quite difficult, though I could see if Lupin would help me make a potion that would change that.." Sirius challenged, he rarely came over to the Slytherin table, for this reason, he looked at Regulus giving a disappointed scan.
"I'm sure scarface would do anything for social interaction." One of the other ones said laughing as she did so. Sirius dug his hands into his leg and gave a sweet smile, keeping his mouth shut before he said something dumb. The rest of them walked away leaving Arthur awkwardly in the middle of the Black brothers. "You owe me new shoes." Regulus picked up one of the drawing pencils snapping it in half and walking away. Sometimes Arthur forgot why he liked that boy, then looked at him and took in how attractive he was again.
"Shoes! Shoes, that's the reason you're upset, and I thought I was the fashionista." And like that Arthur was left alone again. He walked himself to his Potions class and sat down, he enjoyed Potions. To him, it was like mixing medias almost, he wouldn't have Lucas in his class until History of Magic. A girl sat down next to him, she was a Hufflepuff, but that's all he could tell. He copied that notes, making doodles in his book whenever he could take a break. When class ended he ended to History of Magic, hoping that winter break could hurry up and get here.
