Chapter Four

Arthur banged his head against the headboard, "Astronomy is the worst subject to existest." He had been working on his homework for hours by now, he would be lucky if he got a Poor in astronomy. "Ya know, all you have to do is look at the Black family tree." Lucas chimed in tucking a book back in his trunk and then sitting on it.

"And where am I going to find the Black family tree, plus it's not the names I struggle with so much, it's which moon goes to which planet, and which constellation is what." Arthur put his work away tired of looking at the papers.

"Maybe you could I don't know, ask Sirius? He's a nice bloke, I'm sure he would help." Lucas was okay at astronomy but knew that he was useless to his friend. Arthur brushed it off, "Who are the prefects? I was too focused on my food to look and fell asleep on the way here."

"By food do you mean Black?" Arthur choked on his spit, "No! Sirius has a girlfriend."

"Not that Black idiot, the Slytherin one."

"Isn't Narcissa dating Malfoy?" Lucas grabbed his pillow and threw it at Arthur, he dodged it grabbing it off the floor, "No, the one who plays quidditch, the one who you try to sit near in class, the one who is a jerk but you still like him for some dumb reason."

"So... Andromeda?" Arthur hid behind his bed in fear of being a target for another pillow.

"You're failing Astronomy but know all the names of the Black family? and she graduated two years ago."

"Welp no one is left besides Bellatrix."

"Regulus, you soggy pringle crisp."

"I am no soggy pringle crisp."

"You are switching topics, you like Regulus, it's bloody obvious. Even though he's hospitalized twenty people or so..." Arthur continued hiding beside his bed but now he was tugging on his fingers.

"You switched topics, I just wanted to know who was made prefects." Arthur heard shuffling behind him, they were lucky that their roommates were somewhere else, either at the library or Hogsmeade. Lucas sat down beside him holding something in his hand, "You really haven't noticed?"

"Noticed what?" Arthur looked down at what was in his hand, as soon as he saw the glimpse of a green badge, he stood up and shoved Lucas away.

"I am was supposed to the prefect in this relationship." Arthur's goal was to become prefect then head boy after Hogwarts he would try to make a living painting for famous wizards and try to get into muggle museums.

"You act like I threatened Dumbledore for this, I didn't want it, I like parties and pranks."

"But why you?" Arthur threw the pillow back onto the bed.

"Why don't you go ask Dumbledore himself?" Before Lucas finished his sentence Arthur was already out the door. "I didn't mean to actually ask him, idiot."

Arthur went out into the Slytherin common room, night had fallen, he knew he would have to be careful unless he wanted detention. He needed air, maybe he would take a trip to Hogsmeade, he needed new paints anyway. The boy made his way to the outside of Hogwarts on the trail to Hogsmeade, it was easy to get by Filch, who was looking for James Potter or Sirius Black.

He felt the moonlight of the full moon fall on him as he walked along the pathway, his head full of thoughts. Why did he like a boy? Why was the boy hostile? Why did the boy and his brother fight? He wished he had siblings and hated being an only child.

His thoughts were cut by the sounds of howling and shrieking, he flinched at the noises, before looking around. Howling usually meant wolves, but Scottland has no wolves, as far as he was concerned there were no werewolves in the forest. He shook it off and continued his way to the shop, now moving at a faster pace.

Arthur had become good friends with the owner of the shop Leda Pinkleton, she had a daughter in the year above him, Helen Pinkleton. He knew that the owner would not tell or scold him on being out here so late at night. As soon as he entered he was met with a warm embrace, "Hello Arthur." Painting was in the wizarding world, but it wasn't as common as it was in the muggle world.

Leda let go and went behind her counter and read her book. Arthur grabbed some of the paints that he needed refiling in, he wished they had an art club at Hogwarts but didn't know if anyone else would go to meetings or would they would do in meetings.

"Is my daughter behaving?" Last year Helen was caught up in the middle of Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, causing her to get in trouble for the first time. Leda could rant to the fifteen-year-old often, which was unhealthy for both of them, but they connected in a mother-son way.

"I'm not sure, I haven't spoken to her, she's not the type of person to be in my friend group."

"What do you mean? She's the type of person for everyone's friend group, she's the most beautiful girl you've ever seen?" Leda was quick to defend her daughter while adding up the price.

"Yes, I do think she is very pretty Ms. Pinkleton." He took out the ten galleons and five sickles.

"Then why don't you ask her out?" Arthur's face turned into horror, he loved Ms. Pinkleton like his own mum, but she was a very traditional woman.

"I'm interested in someone else," Arthur searched for any name, any name for any female in Hogwarts, "Lily Evans."

"I think I may have heard her name from my daughter, I'll ask about it." Arthur realized what he did, Helen was friends with Remus and Peter, who were friends with James. If James found out, he was dead, the last boy that admitted out loud that he liked Lily Evans ended up in the hospital wing for two weeks after a "prank gone wrong" and then Severus Snape who he often felt pity for.

He just grabbed his paints then left putting his scarf back on and walking outside. He enjoyed the mostly quiet walk back, he wasn't paying attention when he tripped over something landing face first in the grass.

He looked behind him and saw a dog.. a dog in the middle of nowhere? "Why are you here?  Where is your owner? Is the blood?" He looked for a collar on the dog, who was trying to get out of his grasp. He saw that it had a cut on its leg, he quickly took of its scarf and wrapped it around. "Um.. let's bring you to the hospital wing." He let go to take his sweater off but the dog ran away with his scarf attached. "Or maybe I won't."

He finished his walk to his dorm, Lucas was asleep, as well as the other three other boys, Evan Rosier, Duncan Ashe, and Kaiden Roman. Most of them were nice to Arthur but awful to Lucas even if he was a prefect, they hated the idea that a muggle-born was a prefect.

Unknown to Arthur, Lucas had already fallen victim to many attacks. One of them being for Regulus Black himself, he remembers having the bruise on him for weeks but he didn't want to tell Arthur. Regulus didn't hit him, but he gave the orders, and he stood and watched.

Arthur put the paints in his trunk and passed out once he hit his bed.
