Chapter 27: Drunken Confessions
I can't get rid of the smile that had formed on my face over an hour ago. The memory of flying down the zipline is still burning in my mind, even though it was two nights ago.
The feeling of the wind snapping past me and the sound of cheering fills my ears every time I close my eyes. I can live in that memory forever.
But that is not the only memory that has been running laps in my mind. The warm sensation of Four's hands wrapped tightly around my exposed waist was still fresh in my mind. The area where he touched me burned with the memory as if his fingers marked me. But the thing that shocks me the most is that I want to feel that feeling again. I want him to hold me tight, I want to feel him touch my bare skin again.
Long gone are the days when I hated Four and his mere presence loathed me. When his voice filled me with the heavy feeling of dread and hate.
I kinda miss those days, because they were a hell of a lot easier than what I am feeling right now.
But sadly I can't stay here in my bed tucked under the covers, my head resting against my soft pillow. I have to go face life.
With a groan, I push myself out of bed one tired limb at a time and trudge to the bathroom.
Turning on the tap I splash the cold water on my face.
"Beatrice come on we are going to be late!" Robert calls out for me.
I brush my teeth and then rush down the stairs to the front door where Susan and Robert stood patiently waiting.
The harsh winds are cold blades slicing across our bodies. Pain flares through my cheeks as the wind slaps them. I wrap my fingers around the hems of my jacket and pull it tighter around me.
When the doors to the hall come into view the three of us rush toward it. We reach out our pale and freezing hands and push it open.
We all sigh with relief when we get into the warm hall.
"I wish we could stay here all day." Susan said.
"I agree."I said, my voice slightly trembling.
Robert went to the board and got our assignments for us. We got another day with the leaders, which means we will be inside. Thank God!
We follow my father to the offices and are split up again. Today is going to be a long day but hey at least I'm warm.

Bang
Bang
Bang
Three bullets each hitting near the center of the target. From the corner of my eye, I can see Four nod his head, impressed by my improvement.
"I think that's enough training for today."
"Oh thank God, my arm was starting to hurt from the backfire." I sigh while rubbing my arm.
Four chuckles as he takes the gun from me and places it back in a slick black box.
"Come on we can catch the train if we are lucky. "
"Are we going to Dauntless again?" I ask, excitement bubbling inside me.
"Yes."
With a smile on my face, I follow him to the train, and together we jump on.
***
Zeke and the gang were waiting for us near a place they call the chasm. It is a large hole that leads down to sharp rocks. Very intimidating but there are still Dauntless who stand close to the edge, some of them even lean forward a bit before jumping back while laughing.
Four stands with Zeke and a few other people who I don't know while I sit with Cristina, Will, and Al.
"What's wrong with you guys?" I ask looking down at their faces, pale with fear.
"We did more fear simulations today." Al said.
My face automatically scrunches as a wave of confusion washes over me.
"What are fear simulations?" I ask.
"They inject us with a serum and we go into a simulation where we have to face our fears. We have to practice for our final. If we fail then they kick us to the curb and we become factionless. " Christina explains.
At the mention of Factionless, I can see Al stiffen.
"I'm sure you guys will do great." I said trying to assure them.
It works and small smiles appear on their lips.
"You're a good friend Tris." Al smiles at me.
"I guess I am." I shrug.

After Christina, Will, and Al left to go to their dorm I went to find Four.
"Well well well look who we have here." A sticking voice said from behind me.
I spin around, coming face to face with Peter. His tall figure is intimidating but I don't dare show it.
"What do you want?" I ask, trying to lace my voice with as much confidence as I can.
"Just wanted to see how you were doing. I don't see you around much it's almost like you don't live here."
He smirks with the last part. Does he know I'm not Dauntless?
"I'm not in the mood to speak to you."
I turn around and start walking away.
He rushes in front of me and traps me between his arms.
"I'd be careful Stiff we don't want something bad to happen to you. " He releases me and laughs as he walks away.
He does know, but how?
I manage to find Four by the chasm. He is holding onto a railing with one hand and in the other, he holds a silver flask.
I run to him.
"Four I have to-"
"Tris!" He yells, his voice is slurry, and his breath reeks of alcohol.
The strong scent makes my nose crinkle.
"Are you drunk?"
He shrugs.
"Only a little."
Suddenly he leans closer to me, his lips pressing next to my ear, his warm breath tickling it.
"You look good Tris."
Heat rushes to my cheeks as I digest his words.
He pulls back and then looks over my shoulder.
"There you guys are I've been looking all over." Tori said.
"Hey, Tori. " Four slurs.
Tori sighs, and her shoulders sink.
"Great now I have to help him home."
"I'll help."
"Thanks. " She smiles.
Four leans against us and together we start the long journey back home.
***
"Sleep tight." Tori huffs as we toss the unconscious Four onto her couch.
"Will he be okay?" I ask.
"Yeah, I mean he will have a major hangover in the morning but it's nothing he hasn't dealt with before. "
I look over at Four, he looks so peaceful when he sleeps. His lips are parted slightly and he just looks so relaxed. Why can't he be like that when he is awake?
"So what happened before I got there?"
I turn to her.
"Nothing."
"Not from what I saw, I could see your blush."
"I was just feeling warm."
She smiles.
"Sure you were."
"Tori I think someone in Dauntless knows I'm an imposter."
"Who?"
"An initiate named Peter."
"I'll look into it."
"Thanks," I look over at her clock, "I should get going. "
"Bye. "
"Bye."
***
As soon as I get home I climb into bed.
"You look good Tris."
That is my last thought before I fall asleep.
