Chapter 14: Stalking Is a Crime

Slowly he walks towards me, with every step he takes I start to feel more uneasy.
But when he got close enough for me to see his eyes I felt calm again. I can't understand why. It's like I've seen these eyes way before he ran into me.

"What do you want?" I ask him.

He doesn't say a word, just looks at me. He is so close his breath is on my face.

"Not here." He said. I never really realized how deep his voice was until now.

Grabbing my arm he pulls me into the woods.

"Where the hell are you taking me!" I yell at him.

But he doesn't answer me, he doesn't even look at me. He just keeps pulling me further and further into the trees.

"This technically is kidnapping I hope you know that?"

He grunts in frustration and swings me around to face him. But as I was flung like a ragdoll my foot got caught between a root sticking out of the ground and I fell.

Hard.

I hiss in pain as I land on the ground with a thud. Thankfully I am not injured in any way, but I will be bruised tomorrow.

"I'm not fucking kidnapping you I just need to talk to you."

"So stalking and pulling someone into the woods is how you normally talk to people. Because if so your parents did a crap job at raising you."

"Oh please stop flattering yourself I wasn't stalking you." He scoffs, resting his hands on his hips.

I push myself and brush my hands down my dress, pushing off all the dirt that collected on it from my fall.

"Really because constantly popping up everywhere I am is stalking. Which by the way is also a crime. So that makes you a stalker and a kidnapper." I said in the snarkiest tone I could muster.

He shakes his head and started pacing back and forth like he is thinking about something. Deciding what he should do.

What he should do with me.

"So what are you gonna do Mr. Stalker slash kidnapper. You gonna kill me next because that would just add to your charges."

I read once that if you are in a situation very much like the one I currently am in then you should keep talking, it might make your kidnapper keep you alive longer.

I may not be entirely sure what this man wants to do with me, or even if killing me is his plan but I shouldn't take the chance.

He may look friendly but that doesn't mean he isn't capable of doing some pretty fucked up things.

"You know what screw this." He shakes his head then turns around and starts walking away.

Okay, so he doesn't want to kill me?

Guess he did just want to talk.

"Hey, you can't just drag me out here into the woods, tell me you want to talk to me, and then walk off like some weirdo. I mean seriously dude don't you know people hate it when people say that-"

"Do you ever fucking shut up?" He yells at me as he starts walking back towards me.

"Normally yes, but you have seriously pushed my buttons."

" I've never met an Abnegation like you," He chuckles," But then again there also some Dauntless in you,"

How?

"And Erudite to I believe." He smirks.

"Listen to me you can't tell anyone about what you are. Alright, not a soul. You are considered a danger if they find out what you are they will kill you."

That is how I stay alive. Make sure this guy doesn't know the truth. But he already does, so it could all be for nothing.

But I have to try.

" I don't know what you are talking about?" I cross my arms over my chest and shake my head.

"I think you know exactly what I am talking about. Your aptitude test showed that you are Abnegation, Dauntless, and Erudite. You are Divergent."

"My result was Abnegation and only Abnegation. You must have me confused with someone else."

"Someone who is Abnegation wouldn't have behaved in the manner you just did not so long ago. When you were yelling at me."

"So that is your only proof. I yelled at you and you think that I am Divergent."

"Yelling at me and the way you talked was something a Dauntless would do. And when you think that I kidnapped you, you immediately started talking constantly to perhaps get me to not kill you. That level of intelligence is Erudite."

"That still isn't nearly enough evidence to convict me of such a thing as being Divergent. Perhaps I am only Abnegation, the yelling and the strategic talking was fear taking hold of me. Fear makes us all do things we never thought we could do. Either that or I'm just special."

He laughs then leans back against a tree.

"Okay, I think that is enough fun. Is your name Beatrice Prior?" He asks me.

"Thought you said you were not stalking me. Because knowing my name when I didn't tell it to you is very stalkerish."

"Ms. Prior I was sent here by Tori to talk to you."

"The Dauntless lady with all the tattoos and the dyed hair sent you the creepy masked man to talk to me?"

"Yes, she is the one who told me all the information about you that I needed to know, and then she told me to give you a message."

"And what message was so important that she had to send you instead of coming to me herself?" I ask.

"She wants you to know that you are not alone. The rumors of Divergents living here in these woods are true. You don't have to hide who you are with us Beatrice, you can be who you are. There is something big coming, something that will shake this city to its core. And we need to stop it. But we can't do it alone, we need all the help we can get, we need you,"

"What is coming?"

"If you would like to know more meet us right back here tomorrow night at nine o'clock. That's if you decide you want to be part of something big if you want to truly be yourself."
