3 Fit as a Fiddle or the Exact Opposite

When Chin saw what Shi freaked out over she laughed.

"Shi it's just a Kricketot. It won't hurt you." Chin told the trainer.

"Krick?" 'Chimchar, you speak to this human like she understands you. Why?' The Kricketot asked in confusion.

"She bonked her head, now she can understand me. It's weird I don't understand how that works either. Shi. You said you wanted to catch another Pokémon. Remember?" Chin was chatty for a pokémon. That's for sure.

"Yeah, but I'm not so sure now. I don't want to take a pokémon out of the wild and away from their family." Shi whined.

"Etot?" 'Wow trainers even think of that. Look ahh... Shi, yes Shi. I'm a lone Kricketot. I'll be willing to go with you for a price.' Kricketot said.

"What's the price?"

"Tot." 'Prove to me you have potential as a trainer. I'm going to travel with some random yay who of the streets. So battle me.' Kriketot offered. 'Yourself, not hiding behind your Chimchar.' he added almost as an after thought.

"But I don't know how to battle."

"Kricketot." 'Every living creature can battle. Only the skill level varies ranging from Magikarp to Arceus. Now fight me!' Kricketot spouted wisdom then switched to aggressive exceptionally quickly.

"Umm Ok." Shi said standing up awkwardly. Kricketot didn't appear to be doing anything. He was just standing there. Shi punched him. He barely even wobbled, Shi's punch was so weak.

"Tsk. Tsk. I've battled Magikarp stronger then you." Kricketot taunted. Shi tackled the little bug to the ground. Getting bruised from his hard exoskeleton. Kricketot barely even reacted. Shi grabbed one of Kricketot's antlers and twisted it around. That one got her a shout, and a release of the Bide. Kricketot flew at her like a demon. And started beating her up with his horns.

"Ahk! I'm sorry!" Shi squealed as she put her arms up to defend herself.

"Never apologize in battle unless you're surrendering!" Kricketot ordered.

"Shi Use punch!" Chin ordered. Shi looked around confused but managed to land a punch on the Kricketot.

"Chin. I don't wanna." Shi bawled. She was very afraid of pokémon and here one was attacking her.

"You're going to get your butt kicked by a bug. Shi! Get it together. One solid hit and he's knocked out." Chin encouraged her trainer.

"You've passed my test." Kricketot said he walked up to Shi's bag and clicked the button on a Pokéball.

"Chin correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say it wasn't going to hurt me?" Shi grumpped. Crawling back in her bag for few more hours rest.

"To be fair, I found his request strange too." Chin answered curling up. "Also when an opponent uses bide, only use leer or a move that doesn't inflict physical damage."

The next morning the three set out for oreburgh city, where their first gym bage awaited them... Maybe.

"Chin! Why do they keep appearing?" Shi was curled up quivering.

"Because long ago Pokémon made a pact with humans to be hiding in tall grass if you ever need our help." Chin explained.

"That was a bad idea." Shi muttered.

"Agreed. Humans should have to face their creations on their own. Not wrap innocent pokémon in their quest of greed."

"Is there anything humans do that you don't think is ridiculous?" Shi asked.

"If there is I have yet to discover it. We should keep moving, we'll get out eventually." Chin dragged her trainer upright.

"Yes Chin. You're looking a little beat up maybe I should let Fiddle out to battle." Shi said. The Kricketot from last night identified himself as Fiddle in his fancy way before challenging Chin to a battle.

"I think Fiddle is about as beat up as me right now." Chin answered.

"You're right. Ok a few more battles then it's Fiddle's turn." Shi compromised. A few more battles with Starly. Suddenly a Bidoof appeared. It was big for a Bidoof and mean looking. His teeth were to long and stained red. Scars covered him, fur grew in clumps where it wasn't scared.

"Kill. Bidoof kill you." The Bidoof muttered with a crazed look in it's milky eyes.

"C~Chin. This is an extra scary Pokémon."

"It has rabies or something. Don't worry I've had my shots. We should kill it, put it out of it's misery. Don't let Fiddle out no matter what. We don't want him catching it."

"Y~yeah. Umm. Ok. Chin use scratch." Shi ordered a bit more afraid then usual. Chin complied blood squirted out of the Bidoof, splattering the area in a crimson liquid. The Bidoof didn't even notice. Bidoof lumbered after Chin, but she was to fast and avoided the tackle. Bidoof growled in frustration. Chin flew in with scratch determined to tear the disease to pieces. The Bidoof was knocked out.

"Chin wait!" Shi distracted the monkey,"How will we dispose of the body?"

"Leave it." Chin growled.

"If you do something might eat it and get the disease themself. You can't use fire moves yet so we can't incinerate it."

"Well what do you suggest?"

"We wrap its wounds and come back to kill it when we can incinerate it."

"I'm not letting you touch it. If you're to squeamish to kill it we won't, but don't you dare touch it."

"Fine." Shi relented. "I won't wrap its wounds and we'll just move on."

"Good trainer. Now come along we can get healed at the lab." Chin encouraged. 'It's going to come back.' Chin added in her mind. She was familiar with this disease. It was Pokéal, it was what got Eevee killed at the lab. No cure was known and there was no vaccine.
