One year later-
Third person point of view-
A year went by since then, the world functioning smoothly without Herobrine's constant oppression. The cult of Herobrine began to slowly dwindle and allow their own empire to fall until they were no longer considered a threat and mocked for falling when they were once so powerful. Those who still remained loyal to the fallen god were driven into hiding with Grayson's army hunting them down. The slaves were freed and the refugees that had flooded into the empire were finally able to go back home, at least those whose formal homes were not turned into uninhabitable wasteland.
With his new abilities, Drake had become the new commander of Grayson's armies, Tyler respectfully allowing him to have this position. Although it put some stress on Drake's already messed up mind, he felt that the kingdom needed him, but Grayson often allowed him to take many days off, knowing that his friend had been through much already. Drake often enjoyed hanging out with the members of the magi guild and strengthening his powers and magic, or going with Lalea and helping Endy with her job at the school house when he had free time. He enjoyed helping young magi and seeing the smiles on their faces.
Drake had moved in with Lalea and together they occupied the fancy high class home within the richest of imperial cities. He did not need to eat nor sleep, but he always did so around her just to make her more comfortable. The two lovers continued to date, deciding to take it slow for awhile while Drake settled in with being alive once again and came to terms with his new found abilities. They loved being alone together, just the two of them hand in hand. Rather it be on a romantic date in the cities or just sitting on the couch or looking up at the stars glittering the dark but vast night sky.
Even with issues of post traumatic stress on the hybrid's mind, (including waking her up because of his night terrors and having violent flashbacks quite often) their love for one another always seemed to grow, their bound remaining strong and growing more powerful the more that were in the others close presence. They gave each other happiness and peace of mind, both filling the holes within the others heart. Though they did have their rough times, they always pulled through with a love stronger than before.
He had always held onto that ring, though Lalea already knew that he had it, he always kept her waiting in anticipation for the day when he would drop the big question. She never did it herself in fear that he would not be ready to settle down in marriage. He still wore it to express their love, but they were never officially wedded.
The evening finally came when Drake decided that it was finally the right moment. Drake had informed Grayson on what he was planning and the king allowed the two lovers up onto one of the tallest balconies of the palace. It overlooked nearly the entire city and the beautiful garden below, the sun setting below the horizon, lighting the normally blue sky with the calming warm colors of gold and orange. The air was fresh, and the faint sound of the citizens below and a faint breeze that was oddly relaxing.
Drake and Lalea leaned against the railings, taking in the gorgeous and calming scenery. They stared for awhile at the beauty of the early night flooded with the mixture of colors from the dying sun. The hybrid stared into his lover's eyes, smiling at the beauty of her rosy cheeks against her pale complexion, the perking of her luscious pink lips, and the colors reflecting gorgeously within the happiness and calmness within her deep blue eyes.
He smiled and had to repress a tiny giggle in the back of his throat. He looked down at the ground, feeling like his heart was racing but it was completely still. He wished that I would beat again. He loved having Lalea around, having her make him feel this way. It reminded him that a part of him was still human; that he could still love and cherish others more than anything. He glanced back up, his bright gleaming eyes staring at the fading light of the sunset.
He finally spoke after a period of time had passed. "Breathtaking, isn't it?"
The corners of her lips perked a bit higher. "Yeah, it's beautiful."
Drake turned his body towards her, one hand sliding on the railing and hovering over her own before he gently took it in his gasp. His fingers rubbed against the soft skin of her palm, feeling every little ridge on her skin. He lightly tugged, making her turn her body as he moved her right hand to his left and her left with his right. She looked up and stared into his bright luminous mismatched eyes as he stared into her blue ones.
"Just like you, love." His smile grew until his cheeks hurt as she blushed and giggled in her cute, enduring way.
Drake chuckled. "Lalea... You know that I love you more than anything. And I've decided that now is the best time to do this."
He got down on one knee and knelt down in front of her. Lalea looked slightly puzzled at first, but then Drake lifted up a ring that gleamed between his fingers. The girl gasped at the sight of the moonstone ring, at first gasping in joy and surprise, the she looked down at her hand.
"Hey, when did you take off my ring?"
Drake grinned slyly, before it turned back into his loving smile. "I just thought that this ring has too much sentimental value to just go replace it with another one. Besides, this is the one I wanted to use for this moment before everything went wrong at the hatchery." He chuckled.
Lalea looked back and forth from her beloved to the ring, her face becoming flush. It began to set in her mind what was happening, making tears well up. She gave a bright smile before gasping and cupping her mouth with her hand. Tears began to stream down from her eyes and cover her burning cheeks.
He stared at her with his bright eyes and chuckled at her reaction. "Lalea, I don't think that there are words that can describe how I feel about you... You're my everything. My joy, my love...my life. I don't regret running off from my friends and getting captured and imprisoned in the palace...because that was when I met you. Who would have known that despite the suffering, that it was secretly one of the greatest days of my life?"
Lalea was now sobbing as happiness flooded her system. A wide beautiful smile was on her cheeks as her face flushed red. Tears streamed from her eyes as she began to hiccup, staring at her love in almost disbelief ecstatically giggled uncontrollably. She hunched, her hands on her chest.
"So my love, will you make me the happiest man in the world? Will you marry me?"
Lalea laughed in joy, echoing off from the balcony. She hiccuped and tried to catch her breath as her crying continued. "Yes! Yes of course! I've been waiting for you to ask!"
She threw her arms over Drake's neck as he stood back up. She pulled him in before he could get up completely, his cheek smashing into hers as she continued to laugh in ecstatic joy. The hybrid hugged his beloved back, squeezing her tightly as he laughed with tears slipping from his eyes. He lifted her up and spun around as they both laughed out loud, stopping and continuing to press her against his chest and holding her up, looking up into her eyes as gorgeous as the sun setting over the horizon of the ocean.
He set her down and gently took her hand, slipping it back onto its respective place on Lalea's ring finger. Drake let out another laugh as he once again grabbed her and pulled her closer until their chests pressed together. They smashed their lips into each other, kissing passionately but gently.
Lalea pulled but, smiling and streaks from tears on her cheeks. "I love you." She kissed him again and pulled back. "I always will. I promise, my precious Drakey-poo."
Drake laughed and blushed, moving a strand of her loose hair behind her ear. He leaned forward and place his forehead against hers, both closing their eyes as they smiled.
"Thank you, my love. I'll do anything to make you happy. Promise."
A few months past as they planned and prepared for the wedding. After weeks of preparation and nerves from waiting, the time had finally arrived. It was held at a fancy church in Emerald city, all of their friends and a few guests from the palace sat in their wooden seats on either side of the isle. They were all dressed in formalwear, many of the man in expensive suits and the females in fancy dresses. The light from the setting sun poured in from the stained glass windows, the sunlight still warm in the late early autumn afternoon heat.
Grayson, Nathan, and the spirit of Armen stood as the grooms men. After a year, the people of the palace had gotten used to having Armen's spirit occasionally visit when he had the strength too. Though he could not wear anything formal, he still stood with his back straight and arms crossed in front of himself.
Even the spirit of Luke was in the crowd, feeling more comfortable standing off to the side than sitting in a seat that a mortal could use.
The bridesmaids were Mia, Endy, and Alexa, all standing in long, beautiful, and flowing dresses. They had on flower crowns, which the elf had insisted that they wore just to see Drake's reaction, which was calm but it did bring a laugh out of him.
After a long wait, the priest came out and asked for everyone to stand. The upbeat piano music began, and all eyes rested on the wooden door as they began to open up. Jane walked in, tossing rose petals onto the red carpeting as she skipped down the aisle as the flower girl. She received a few "aww's" from the crowd, Endy watching and wishing that she could capture the moment.
Then, the bride herself stepped out, her long blue hair flowing underneath the veil that covered her face, as brides traditionally did before being wedded. She was escorted by Xavier, since Lalea had no father or other male family members to do so. The aisle seemed so long, much longer than before when for a split moment she felt as if she would faint.
She wore a gorgeous white celtic, long sleeve lace wedding dress that swept the carpet as she slowly walked. She looked at all of the guests that happily waved and smiled at her, but no one made a sound. Then up ahead her eyes finally rested upon her future husband, the love of her life, and her everything. Drake.
He wore black pants and long boots with a white long sleeved shirt and a black vest on top of it, since traditional tuxedos were not very common in this time. The brunette hair on his scalp was slick to the side while his black hair was down and a bit slanted back, giving him an interesting but attractive appearance. He stood taller, his shoulders back to show confidence and his eyes set upon his love as she ever so slowly approached him. Lalea could have sworn that she briefly saw tears in his eyes, but the glowing made it too difficult to make curtain.
She finally made it up to him, standing across from him and staring into his beautiful yet alluring, glowing mismatched eyes. They both smiled at one another, Lalea's heart pounding out of her chest. He took the vail and flipped it over her head to uncover her face, telling her how beautiful she looked.
The priest finally stood up, a bible of Notch in hand. As he spoke, it seemed to take forever as they stared anxiously at each other, burning with the need to just lean in and take the passionate kiss that would make their marriage official. As he continued on, they both seemed to wonder, getting lost into each other's bright eyes until he had to snap them out of it to say their "I do's". The priest asked for any objections. No one raised their hands, nor spoke a word.
The priest smiled. "By the power invested in me, I pronounce the two of you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
Lalea jumped at her love, and tossed her arms over his shoulders as they pulled and brought their lips together. The kiss was rough, slowly becoming more gentle the longer they held it, sinking into it. Everyone cheered in joy and glee, clapping as the sounds echoed off of the stone walls. The now married couple pulled away from one another, gasping as they smiled brightly at their lover.
After the ceremony, everyone went to a dinner held afterwards at the palace that many people attended. Armen and Luke's spirits had returned back to the afterlife, but the joy had not left with them. At storytelling, everyone stood around while Grayson got up on a table to look over everyone. He held up a glass of fine whine, a smile on his face as his eyes met with those of the newly wedded couple.
"I've known Drake for years, almost as far back as I can remember. Just some teenager and his friend that randomly appeared where I lived about seven years ago, almost eight." He chuckled at the memory.
After a quick pause, he continued. "I'm grateful to have him in my life, and I am more than happy as long as he is. And wish him peace and happiness in the new chapter of his life. You take care of her man. I ... I love you, brother."
A blush of embarrassment crept over Drake's face as he grinned, but he was honored to hear his friend's kind words. He loved him like a brother too and was just as grateful to have him by his side every step of the way, no matter how bad things got. He never would have been able to save Armen, or meet the woman of his dreams, or break from from a h**l within his head if it were not for him.
Drake turned his attention to Lalea as she tugged at him, making the two face each other. She grabbed onto his sleeve and pulled him down until their lips locked together. He allowed himself to melt into it, placing his forehead against hers as they broke away. She giggled and took his hands, holding them with her fingers against his.
"Thank you for everything." He teared up.
"I love you."
You didn't expect there to be a happy ending now, did you?
