They don't recall their childhood so well
But they do remember all of the hell
Mama didn't have money for the rent
Daddy blew the cash as he got spent

He left one day never to come back
They were left with nothing but a sack
Landlord swore he was out to get her
Winded up living in a homeless shelter

It didn't last the bad things never did
They wound up winning he got the slip
Got a new house and began a new life
Mama had to work so they could survive

They've learn to cherish what they have here
Cause once they had nothin but their tears
It's a long road you must travel on
But I swear one day you'll find your way home
