He stood there in the pitch black darkness of the room alone
Thinking why do bad things only happen to the good souls
She probably didn't even care at all how bad he was hurting
Had other boyfriends to occupy her common sense thoughts

He sedated his mourning and his pain by drinkin' it all away
Didn't care what it caused as long as it got him through the days
Bottle after bottle the time just seemed to slipped right on by
Never had thoughts about livin' he just only wanted to die

She always came back to him like some euphoric daydream 
This only lasted for awhile before the nightmare began again
Promised this time to change and to get help for the demons
But in the end it was always the same ol' song and dance

I'm the only person who is tryin' to help keep him together
He may not want or ask for this but that's whatever
As long as he has peace of mind and everything's alright
Then I can sleep so soundly during the  night
