GRAPHIC DESIGNERS ARE NOT YOUR SLAVES, REQUESTERS!!!

hello hi hey.

as u may or may not know, i've been really inactive in wattpad because of college (acads, orgs, college government) + i'm travelling right now & will be back soon around this week or the next. so pls understand i dont have my materials for making graphics or whatnot because i dont have my laptop with me.

pretty sure everyone knows that wattpad was never a priority to me because honestly, i'm here in wattpad to relax and get out from acads and life tbh. but since life is annoying and i'm included in the "reaaaaallyyyyyyyyy busy person" list also. i'm not 12 or 13 or in high school, mind you. i don't have a lot of free time in my hands.

anyway enough with my babbling.

i just want to calmly put this out here:

ok i allowed pm requests for a time then removed it then put it back again because its easier for people to reach me if they want a graphic from me but dude... pls don't abuse that

i dont open wattpad a lot for some months now really and opened it just recently because well, i'm on vacation and had a bit of time. so 2-3 days ago i opened my wattpad just to check if i had any messages in my inbox and there was this person who pm-ed me around 2 days before i checked. this person talked about him/herself basically and (i didnt even know this person) how he/she sucks in graphic making and asks how i make mine and what i use to make my stuff. and i reply. then he/she starts saying: "so im thinking of a book cover where...blablabla"

um hello. what? you're seriously going with that? i was so surprised because i thought the person was just going to ask me questions about graphic stuff which is fine but then proceeds in me making a cover for that person?? without my consent???????? WHAT

like out of the blue i'm supposed to make you a cover???? um what?

do u understand how confused i am??????

so as u can see, i replied after 2-3 days because again, i don't open my wattpad AND IM ON VACATION. then he/she replies to me with a "wow u replied late"

do i owe you something????????????

AND YOU TREAT IT AS IF ITS MY FAULT FOR REPLYING LATE?

you're already the one asking for something WITHOUT ME KNOWING IT and you feel as if i owe you something???

so anyway i reply to him/her oh so calmly (even tho i was so annoyed) that: "oh sorry i replied late! i've been inactive in wattpad because blablabla"

why am i so nice

Then he/she replies: "oh its ok. can u like make me a cover for my book tho? idk what it should look like but i'll leave it to u"

um

what?????????????

SHOULD I EVEN STILL REPLY?

because i'm sure if i reply, it'll be reallyyyyyyyy really rude. or maybe even when i try to be nice, this person will just... cry... or whatever.

idk if anyone understands how i feel tbh. i mean idk, this person didn't do anything to me but had the nerve to actually say stuff like that??

or maybe because this person didn't have the right manners of asking me? idk?

i'm afraid if i reject the person, he/she thinks that i already accepted them even if its clear that i didn't even know this person was requesting?? wow.

i dont hate the person btw. i'm just so annoyed how ignorant some people are sometimes.

but i do apologize if i'm overreacting. i'm just sick of frickin rude requesters like we owe them something even tho us, designers, really don't. (Tbh, i've had so much experiences with them)

i'm speaking for all those designers who have felt this way. let us come and band together.

question of the chapter: as a designer, did you ever feel what i felt in this chapter? and if ever, what was your experience?

at least i kinda got it out of my system.
