REBEL FOR KICKS
vi. LET'S GET OUT OF HERE
TELL ME THAT YOU HAVE A PLAN?

IT HAD BEEN ROUGHLY SIX HOURS SINCE GAMORA'S ATTEMPTED MURDER AND ISABELLE QUILL STILL COULDN'T SLEEP. She could hear the soft snores that came from Gamora underneath her and Isabelle felt relieved that she nor Gamora were dead. After what had happened in the showers, Isabelle couldn't force her eyes shut. She had been seconds away from death and now, she was in her bed — hopefully safe and sound. Isabelle could usually hold on her own, but things become difficult when someone who was more physically stronger came along.

Isabelle hummed softly to a tune from her childhood and she smiled softly as the image of her mother's contagious smile and warm hugs flooded her mind. She remembered how young Peter and her were when their mother had passed away. Her memory was fleeting from her mind, but Isabelle tried her best to hold onto it. Sometimes, she wondered what it would have been like if the two of them hadn't been abducted. Isabelle could barely remember her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Their faces and names were a blur in her memory. She wondered if they were still looking for them. She wondered if she would ever see them again.

"Can you stop humming?" Gamora's sudden voice caused Isabelle to jump as she immediately quieted down. She could hear Gamora shuffling underneath her before she watched her get up from the bed. She stole a glance at Isabelle's exhausted expression. "Did you sleep?"

"Yeah, of course," Isabelle lied as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes and sat up. She could feel her back stinging slightly and Isabelle assumed that she might have gotten injured during the fight last night. Isabelle tried her best to ignore it as she took in a deep breath. Her body begged for her to lay back down, but it was getting so loud outside of the cells that Isabelle couldn't sleep even if she tried. "Can you hand me my shirt?"

Gamora nodded as she reached over to the desk and picked up the yellow top before handing it to Isabelle. Isabelle straightened out her white tank top before she slipped on the yellow top. She hated the prisoner garb, but there wasn't anything that she could do about it. She  hopped off the bed and gave Gamora small smile as she put on her shoes. Gamora kept her eyes trained on Isabelle as she studied her.

Isabelle couldn't help the grin that appeared across her lips when she noticed Gamora staring. She shot Gamora a wink causing the woman to quickly look away. "Oh, come on, Gam. It's okay if you like what you see," Isabelle started as she stood up straight. "Someone once told me that I am everyone's type."

"People shouldn't lie to you," Gamora retorted as she rolled her eyes, and she actually made an effort to keep her eyes away from Isabelle. Instead, she focused on the voices of the prisoners outside. She didn't recognize any of the voices, so she could only assume that they weren't a part of the group that tried to kill her and Isabelle the night before. She glanced back at Isabelle who was brushing the knots out of her hair. "Are you ready to go? I'd rather not miss breakfast."

"Yeah, yeah, just hold your horses," Isabelle mumbled as she set the brush down on the desk before she followed Gamora out of the cell. Some of the prisoners sneered at them, but most of them ignored the two. "At least, they aren't insulting you anymore."

"I was not bothered by their insults," Gamora muttered as she kept walking through the halls and toward the cafeteria of the prison. Isabelle trailed behind her as she focused on creating a map of the prison in her head. Gamora glanced back at the blonde and noticed her focused expression, but didn't say anything as she kept walking.

"I can't wait till I'm out of here," Isabelle muttered when she caught up with Gamora. She glanced over at the blank expression of Gamora. "I just hope Florence is okay, you know?"

Gamora paused slightly as she glanced at the shorter woman, but quickly resumed her walk. "Who's Florence?"

"My ship," Isabelle answered as the two of them entered the large caferneria where dozens of prisoners were still hanging out. She spotted Peter, Groot, and Rocket at one of the tables as well. "She's currently the only woman in my life, but hey, I have room for more."

Gamora rolled her eyes again at Isabelle's shameless attempts to flirt. It was obvious to her that Isabelle and her brother, Peter, were more alike than they would care to admit. Gamora was observant and it was clear to her that Isabelle was not looking for anything serious, and Gamora didn't blame her. She, too, had no time for relationships and she never expected to find anyone due to the life that she led.

Isabelle was in the same boat as Gamora — the woman had many flings in her life, but she never had a lasting relationship. Isabelle was used to moving around and leaving people behind, but the thought of settling down always lingered in the back of her mind. She wanted a love like the one her mother had. Isabelle remembered how much her mother, Meredith Quill, loved her father. She wanted a love that strong one day, but Isabelle truly believed that she would never find the one. Isabelle's eyes wandered over to Gamora who was examining a hand wound that she had received the night before. It seemed that Isabelle wasn't the only one bruised up as she felt the ache in her back muscles. The two rushed into line for breakfast and quickly grabbed their trays before heading to the table where their acquaintances were — even though Gamora was a little hesitant.

"Hey," Isabelle greeted as she gave the group a small smile before she took a seat next to her brother. Peter was currently chewing away at what looked like an energy bar while Rocket was messing around with some kind of broken electronic. Isabelle noticed Groot sleeping next to Rocket and she wondered if everyone had suffered from a sleepless night.

"Well, if it isn't the other Quill and Ronan's little helper," Rocket muttered without looking up from his tinkering. Gamora shot him a quick glare before she went back to eating her food. Isabelle picked up an apple off her tray and took a bite out of it.

"Can we at least be civil?" Isabelle asked as she set the apple back down onto the tray. She knew that there was a lot of bad blood between the group, but they should try to be more friendly with each other — especially if they were going to be stuck with each other.

Rocket let out a laugh. "I didn't take you for a hypocrite, Blondie," Rocket stated as he finally looked up from his little device. "We've seen you and dumbass over here argue at every chance."

"Okay, but that's family issues," Peter muttered, shooting a glare at Rocket as well. It seemed that Rocket was already making a habit of getting underneath everyone's skin. Peter looked over at Isabelle and offered her a small smile. "Hey, uh, are you doing okay?"

"Yeah, I'm good," Isabelle mumbled before she turned her attention to Gamora. "I think we should be asking Gamora that question. After all, everyone was trying to kill her."

"I don't need anyone's concern," Gamora snapped as she narrowed her eyes at the two twins.

"Listen, I could care less whether you live or you die," Peter spat out as he glared at Gamora. Isabelle didn't bother to say anything as she continued to nibble on her food.

"Then, why stop the big guy?" Gamora asked as a small smirk formed on her lips.

"Easy, he was on top of my sister and ready to stab her," Peter reminded as he glanced over at Isabelle who was sipping on a juice box that she had snatched from his tray. Peter looked over at Gamora, giving her a flirtatious smile. "And, well, you know where to sell my Orb."

"Oh, wow, I should have know that you had ulterior motives for saving me," Isabelle muttered as she rolled her eyes. "It's always been about money with you, Peter."

"Says the freaking bounty hunter," Peter retorted. "You were literally put in prison because you tried to get the bounty on Gamora's head."

"Fair point," Isabelle mumbled.

Gamora rolled her eyes. She kept her eyes trained on Peter who was playing around with the food on his tray.  "And, exactly how are you going to sell it when we and the Orb are still here?"

A grin spread across Peter's lips as his eyes snapped over to Gamora. Isabelle frowned when she noticed the two staring intensely at each other. She cleared her throat and Peter snapped out of his gaze. Peter looked over at Rocket before he glanced back at Gamora. "Well, my friend, Rocket, here, has escaped 22 prisons."

"Has he escaped from the Kyln before?" Isabelle asked as she crossed her arms over her chest. She, too, had escaped from prisons before — well, just one and it was only because Gamora decided not to kill her.

"Oh, trust me, we're definity getting out," Rocket muttered as he glanced up from his broken device. He grinned at Peter. "And, then, we're headed straight to Yondu to retrieve your bounty."

"Hold up," Isabelle mumbled as she glanced over at her brother. She remembered Yondu and he had always been kind to her, but he could get rather overwhelming at times. It was one of the reasons that she had left. "Yondu seriously put a bounty on your head?"

"Yup, same ol' Yondu. But, it's not like you would know, Iz. You ran off before things got worse," Peter muttered as he rolled his eyes. Isabelle frowned as her eyes flickered over to Peter's angry expression before she turned attention back to her tray. Peter kept his eyes on Gamora. "So, how much was your buyer willing to pay you for my Orb?"

"Four billion units," Gamora answered.

At those words, everyone froze.

"Um, can you please repeat that?" Isabelle asked, wanting to make sure that everyone heard her correctly.

"My buyer is willing to pay 4 billion units for that orb," Gamora repeated as she glanced over at Isabelle.

"Holy shit," Peter whispered as he ran a hand through his messy hair. Gamora's words had shocked everyone and they struggled to formulate words. But, everyone had the same thoughts: how could a stupid metal orb be worth so much?

"That Orb is my only opportunity to get away from Thanos and Ronan," Gamora added as her dark eyes darted between the group. Her eyes lingered on Rocket for a split second. She leaned in close before she whispered, "If you free us, I'll lead you to the buyer directly and I'll split the profit between the four of us."

"I am Groot," Groot's voice suddenly sounded as he sat up, making sure that everyone knew of his presence. His attention was on Gamora and it was obvious that he wanted in on the money. It was something that Isabelle could respect; everyone wanted money.

"Five of us," Rocket muttered as he rolled his eyes at the moving tree. Groot grunted again, but Rocket ignored him. "Asleep for the danger, awake for the money, as per frickin' usual."

"So, it's settled?" Gamora asked as she looked at everyone's faces for confirmation. Isabelle could see the slight desperation in Gamora's eyes, but her face remained as emotionless as she could keep it.

"I'm in," Peter was the first to speak. He didn't hesitate. To him, it was a better plan than to stay in the Kyln and suffer. Rocket nodded and Groot replied with his signature words to say that they were in as well. Everyone looked over at Isabelle.

Isabelle had to think for a few moments. Their plan could go in two directions — either they could escape and live like royalty for the rest of their lives or they would be caught and their sentences would be extended. Her sentence was only a couple of months and she would be able to get out before everyone else, but she didn't want to be left behind. They were going to go through with the plan with or without her. Their eyes were trained on Isabelle and she knew that she needed to make a decision. She bit her lip slightly before she sighed, nodding her head. "Of course, I'm in," Isabelle breathed out. "That's eight hundred million for all of us. We'll be set for life."

A ghost of a smile appeared on Gamora's lips as she nodded. "Alright, all we need now is an escape plan."

"Well, you're in luck," Rocket replied as he chuckled. " I already have one."
