Chapter 9
"Jimin, I'm not becoming your psychologist..." Yoongi said seriously, his defined eyebrows furrowed in annoyance.
"Why not? It'll be fun!" Jimin said enthusiastically, running in front of Yoongi, turning to face him and jumping up and down. He was now walking with his back to the front, the possibility of tripping over something very high.
"Jimin, no." Yoongi asserted.
"Give me one good reason why not to do it." Jimin said, still walking backwards.
Yoongi reached for Jimin's arm and pulled him back, now walking next to each other forwards. He had a serious look on his face, eyebrows still crinkled in thought.
"You need a licensed professional to help, not some stranger that said something cool once." Yoongi said, currently crossing his arms over his chest as he walked down the empty street.
"But-" Jimin had to act quick since they were getting closer to his house and didn't have much time left. "I don't want to go to a psychologist."
"I don't care about what you want, I'm not taking on the task of being a psychologist when I know nothing about how to help depressed people." Yoongi explained, his previously cheery voice now humourless. Jimin would usually be very scared of the tone he was using. It reminded him of a father-like figure that scolded their children and Yoongi knew how to use it well.
"Hear me out." Jimin started. "I'm scared of going to psychologists, and you just told me you've been to psychologists before. I need help with my depression. You seem like you know what you're doing. You also told me you wanted to do me a favour since I hooked you up with Taehyung. The only thing I need right now is psychological support." Jimin concluded. Before Yoongi could say no, he continued. "If it doesn't work out, it's on me, not you. If my depression doesn't get better then I'll go to a proper psychologist. You lose nothing from trying, if anything, you gain a new friendship."
"Who said I wanted you as a friend?" Yoongi teased, even in a serious situation joking about.
"Shh. Please Yoongi. I need you." Jimin begged, hands in clasped together in front of his chest.
"I don't know..." Yoongi said.
"I'll cook food for you whenever you want me to."
"Deal. Hello, Patient!" Yoongi shook Jimin's hand and just at that moment they reached Jimin's house.
"This is me." Jimin said, walking into the doorway and taking the keys out of his jacket pocket.
"So how does this work?" Yoongi asked, rubbing his hands together because of the cold.
Jimin smiled as he walked home from work, his feet treading on the same road as he and Yoongi were walking along yesterday. They had stood in this exact doorway trying to figure out what they were going to do. They came to the conclusion that they'd just wing it, Yoongi in charge of figuring out what that 'winging' was.
Pyjamas now on, Jimin snuggled up under his sheets and checked his phone.
Mr. Psychologist: Oi, come downstairs
Mr. Psychologist: And bring me something to eat <3
Widened eyes stared at the screen, the unexpected message taking Jimin by surprise. They hadn't arranged anything yet, but meeting up at 11 o'clock at night definitely wasn't what Jimin had in mind.
Weird Cute Guy: Now?
Mr. Psychologist: Yes, now
Weird Cute Guy: Ok lemme change out of m pjs
Mr. Psychologist: No, don't. Keep them on
Mr. Psychologist: And bring food pls
Weird Cute Guy: Mnot cming down in my pjs yoongi...
Mr. Psychologist: Trust me
Mr. Psychologist: And bring food
Jimin sighed and rolled off his bed with a huff. He put on his dirty socks that were laying on the floor and picked up his keys. He walked down the hallway, or more like slid on the smooth surface, and left his house. As he approached his doorway, he saw through the glass door Yoongi leaning against the marble wall. He was typing away on his phone, a small smile on his face.
"Hey..." Jimin said in a small voice as he opened the door.
"Aloha, Jimin." Yoongi greeted, his eyes never leaving his phone.
"Why aloha?" Jimin asked, confused yet amused.
"Dunno, I like the word. It means both hello and goodbye at the same time."
"Why would you ever want to say hello and goodbye at the same time?"
"You never know, sometimes goodbyes are too hard to say by themselves. A bye could also be a hello to something new." Yoongi explained and closed whatever app he was using to type.
"Huh, I guess." Jimin said, accepting Yoongi's way of looking at the word, but not really caring that much.
"Where's my food?" Yoongi asked.
"Didn't have anything, I'll bring you some next time." Jimin explained.
"Nice pyjamas." Yoongi commented when his eyes landed on Jimin, raking them up and down his torso.
"Let's go up." Jimin left a small space in between the door and himself to allow Yoongi in.
"No, we're going for a drive." Yoongi said smugly. He pocketed his phone and walked to Jimin.
"What? No, I'm wearing pyjamas." Jimin said as if Yoongi were dumb.
Yoongi stood there for a few seconds, a pensive look to him. Anyone who walked past would've thought he was coming up with a mischevious plan. His white hair was neatly styled over his forehead and it shadowed his eyes.
"If you're in the car, no one will see you're in pyjamas. Just trust me." Yoongi said and tugged lightly on Jimin's arm.
"I'm not-"
"I'm your 'psychologist', listen to me. Get in the car so I can kidnap you." Yoongi said and Jimin just sighed.
"Fine, let me go get my shoes and I'll get in your car."
"Fuck no, you're just using that as an excuse so you can change clothes. Give me your keys, tell me what floor you live on and where your shoes are." Yoongi said and put his hand out expectantly like the first time they met, a pen replaced by keys.
"Ugh, whatever. Give me your car keys." Jimin and Yoongi both took keys out of their pockets and exchanged them. Jimin gave Yoongi the details of where his shoes were placed and in return knew what car to look for.
Scanning for a black car, Jimin felt uncomfortable walking in the street in his pyjamas. Luckily, he lived in the outskirts and at this time of night, few people were present, most out clubbing in the centre of the city.
He clicked the lock button on the car key in hopes of the indicators flashing. Across the road, a black Mercedes SUV's lights flickered and Jimin's eyes widened. It was sleek and didn't look cheap. Jimin found the closest zebra crossing and approached the vehicle.
"Damn..." Jimin muttered to himself, he knew little about cars but this one seemed powerful. He unlocked the car and got in the passenger seat. It looked fancy, an in-built computer making Jimin's eyes widen. The leather of the inside was smooth against the skin of his palms, and he was flabbergasted at the expensive car he was sitting in.
A knock on the window scared the living daylights out of Jimin, a gasp escaping his lips. He had been so entranced with the car he forgot what he was in it for.
Yoongi slid into the car and dropped Jimin's battered shoes on the floor next to his feet. They exchanged keys again and both sighed at the same time for no reason.
"Where are we driving?" Jimin asked as Yoongi turned the key in the ignition.
"No clue"
"That's great." Jimin commented and started slipping on his 'converse'.
"The greatest. The most great. The greatererest." Yoongi mumbled as he pulled out of the parking spot, his arm draped over the back of Jimin's seat as he turned to see what was behind him. 'He looks sexy when driving, noted.'
As Yoongi drove around the streets aimlessly, the two chatted away about pointless topics. The ambience was chill, the new friends trying to learn about each other.
"Are you rich?" Jimin asked as Yoongi changed the radio station. Jimin's eyes were drooping and he had to rub his eyes to keep them open.
"Nope, my dad is." Yoongi said and settled on a pop music station. "Why?"
"Your car is nice."
"Yeah, my dad bought it for me for my birthday. I only let him spend money on me for my birthday and Christmas. When he gets the chance to splurge on a present for me he goes all out." Yoongi explained. "I don't like it though, it's too big. I want a smaller car that's more homely."
Jimin hummed in response, feeling a wave of sleepiness seep in.
"I was thinking-"
"Oh no, don't do that, it might kill you." Jimin joked and smiled to Yoongi.
"Original joke..." Yoongi said dismissively, his sense of humour too high class for that joke. "So, I was thinking, I know nothing about you and if I want to help you with whatever you're going through, which I don't-" Yoongi side-eyed Jimin which made the latter giggle. "I need to get to know you better. Therefore, we'll do this in stages."
"Please elaborate." Jimin said.
"Stage one: Get to know each other." Yoongi said, a silly announcer voice out on for the fun of it. When he said it, he used one arm to emphasize his silliness, his hand passing in front of him. Jimin giggled lightly at that, his eyes no longer droopy.
"And what does that involve?" He asked, pulling one of his legs up to sit on it and face Yoongi.
"Surprisingly, getting to know each other is the main goal of that stage." Yoongi smiled widely. The speed of the car reduced so he wouldn't crash since he was somewhat distracted.
"Okay, what's stage two?"
"That's for you to find out and for me to work out." Yoongi said and clicked his fingers, pointing a finger gun to Jimin.
"That's motivating." Jimin joked, his eyes forming into crescents as a smile overtook his face.
"Hella motivating!" Yoongi said loudly, his head bopping to the low music.
"Please don't say hella." Jimin complained.
"Hella." Yoongi said cheekily and turned his head to Jimin for a second to wink.
Jimin groaned loudly and stuffed his face into his hands, shaking his head disapprovingly.
"Hella groan."
"Oh my god, you're annoying"
"Don't you mean hella annoying?"
"Fuck off." Jimin squeaked and stuck his tongue out. Yoongi saw this through the corner of his eye and smiled more.
"Hella fuck off." Yoongi said, making Jimin groan again in annoyance
"That didn't make any sense."
"It made hella sense."
"Where are we driving?" Jimin asked, trying to change the topic and also curious as to where they were headed.
"We aren't driving, I'm driving. And we're driving to a hella dope place. You already asked me this before." Yoongi said as he readjusted his rear view mirror and squinted at something Jimin couldn't see.
"Where's that?"
"I have hella no idea." Yoongi said and focused on the road again.
"Moist." Jimin said out of the blue, Yoongi very confused at the word and waited for Jimin to explain why he said it. "Most people hate the word moist."
"It's a word, couldn't care hella less." Yoongi said.
"Damnit, what can I do for you to stop saying hella? Also, hella less? What? That's contradicting" Jimin asked in annoyance, yet he felt giddy on the inside.
"Hella." Yoongi said happily, ignoring all of Jimin's questions.
After about ten minutes of Yoongi hella pestering Jimin, they pulled in a parking spot in front of a small restaurant. Since they had been driving for a while, Jimin had no clue whereabouts they were. It was a fairly old building, water marks flowing down the exterior walls. The interior could be seen through a large window, and it looked rustic.
"Where are we?" Jimin asked as Yoongi put the gear in neutral and pulled up the handbrake. He leaned back and sighed lightly, no longer having to concentrate on driving.
"Pizza restaurant." Yoongi said curtly.
"Why?"
"This is lesson one. Go in there and order a pizza." Yoongi said and closed his eyes. his head back and mouth slightly parted. He looked really tired, similar to Jimin a while ago.
"What the hell? No! I'm in my pyjamas, you idiot." Jimin shrieked, Yoongi's closed eyes squinting at the high-pitched noise.
"By the end of all of this, you'll be able to go in there in your pyjamas and not give a shit." Yoongi said and rubbed his face with the palm of his hands.
"That's not gonna happen." Jimin huffed in fake annoyance.
"Not with that attitude it isn't."
"What does that have to do with depression anyway?" Jimin asked,
"Nothing, but I'm not just here for depression. I'm here to make you the best person you can be."
They sat there a while, Jimin staring at the pizza place wondering how Yoongi was going to get him to go in the in pyjamas. The sound of the motor running kept the quiet atmosphere from being painfully silent. A few people were sat at tables inside eating their food. Conversations were held between the clients, some very lively and expressive, others not so much and more intimate. The car battery would run out soon if they kept sitting there, but neither cared.
It was quite unprobable for Jimin to go in there willingly. He would never embarrass himself like that. He wasn't the shiest person out there; Jeongguk was much shier than him. But he wasn't outgoing either. Yoongi sat there the whole time in silence, eyes closed, maybe in thought or maybe asleep. Either way, he seemed relaxed. Jimin, on the other hand, was very tense. He was worried, not that he knew about what.
Yoongi stretched a little and opened his eyes. He put his foot on the clutch and the car in gear, taking off the handbrake and getting ready to leave.
"It's not gonna happen." Jimin repeated.
"We'll see about that." Yoongi said, pulling out of the parking space and getting back on the road, taking Jimin back home. "We'll hella see about that." He said cheekily, a light slap on his arm following.
"Oh my god, stop it!"
